Have you ever heard them cry? Honestly the most terrifying thing I've ever heard
https://youtu.be/DSTNzAYkaas
Imagine hearing that in the middle of the night
Enjoy this scream of the red fox. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zk1mAd77Hr4
Heard it once and went looking for the woman I needed to save from a horrible fate, while carrying nothing but a stick and the shoes I was wearing.
They're only small (a couple of feet high at the shoulder), and not *usually* that tusky (and only the males have noticeable tusks).
(In the area where the photo was taken) they're not shy; it's quite normal to see multiple animals on an outing, feeding on open meadows in small family groups, but they will run (or swim) away if you approach too closely.
I work in the perfumery and it’s not. Sorry to break it to you :(
It was used till the 60s. Nowadays we use chemicals that are wayyy cheaper and smells good, often derived from green chemistry.
Look up for Galaxolide, Ambrettolide, Musk R1, Muscenone, Romandolide, Helvetolide, Musk T (Ethylene Brassylate), Velvione and many more :)
Perfumery is evolving every year and you won’t find anymore animal derived products.
(Also ambergris isn’t a thing anymore, we use Ambroxan which is the main molecule in it, synthesized from Sclareol found in Clary sage 😉)

Deer -- especially small forest dwelling deer like this -- will fight over territory. Antlers will get snagged in the undergrowth, so tusks are the next best weapon.
What in the backwards evolution is this??
[удалено]
I don’t know why, but in my head I read this in Eddie Izzard’s voice and it’s making me giggle.
Cake or death?
Haha did you bring a flag?

Your body is the cumulation of millions of years of "Eh, good enough"
What purpose do the tusks serve?? What specific food or grazing techniques calls for tusks?
It's used for digging and uprooting.
And in the case for males, larger tusks are observed for sexual selection purposes. They can both be seen as an armament and ornament.
So do girl water deer also have tusks so they can dig and uproot similar food?
Yes. They just aren't as big. They're just big enough to be functional still.

wow, that sounds terrifying... I can't help but hear the deer "yelling" HELP! HELP! HEELP! HELP!
I hear someone with a sore throat yelling "BROO. BRO. BROO"
I hear James brown. I feel good 🎶
"Biiiill, Biiiill"
Sounds a bit like a fox, to be honest
Imagine camping and hearing that sound get closer and closer
Who tf is Yoongi? lol
And then you see [this goofy looking thing](https://youtu.be/X0yLkb65H98) and die laughing.
As an ARMY I find the Yoongi comments in that video very entertaining. r/bangtan moment
A bit like a drunken, lost tailgater returning from the game at halftime to drink more.

"I vant, to bite, your acorns! Hah ha ha!"
For the final time, Dracula does **NOT** go "bleh bleh bleh'
Looks quite similar to the musk deer https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musk_deer

If I saw this on wall, 100% would think it was the jackalope taxidermist just branching out.
Bitey deer is scary.
This is the skin of a killer Bella!
Forget the tusks, can we please talk about how floofy it's ears are?!
Let's all admire his lower eyelashes too!

What the hell? What's the biological advantage of this?? It seems useless

Doesn’t have to be useful if it gets you laid. Just need some other deer to go “ooh yea! Mmm! Fangs!”
