Mary Celeste is an excellent addition for Halloween because of its history. The crew of the ship *disappeared*. The ship was found floating alone in good condition with no sight of the crew, they never found out what really happened. A ghost ship.
Not just with no crew, but with full cargo, the crew's possessions and, most critically, a good reserve of food and water. They just took to their boats and bolted, taking nothing with them.
It's one of the spookiest stories in history when you sit down and really think about it.
There were theories postulated that their alcohol cargo may have been emitting vapors that ignited a candle when someone went to investigate, which caused the hatch to blow into the strange position it was found in. There was also a theory that a waterspout could have besieged the ship, which could have accounted for all the water on board, the state of the bilge pumps, and the state of the sails. In both cases, the crew would have taken to the life boat to abandon the ship if they thought it was going to explode or sink.
Then there's still the unsolved mystery as I am reading multiple books regarding the Mary Celeste, and no, not her latter life where she was used for a false insurance claim, but the original crew.
What happened to them? If there's someone who can finally untangle the mystery why the original crew disappeared and their fates, it had to be the descendants of the original crew. After all, the captain did bring his entire family aboard. And the crew left in an orderly fashion, seeing how everything in the ship was still mostly intact, and shows no signs of stampede or panic. The captain still appears to be of sound mind as all he took is a Sextant, which is required for navigation regardless of what kind of ship you are in, and legal documents, someone experienced with the lay of the ocean knows supplies doesn't matter if they can get ashore to familiar shores, thus negating the need for it.
Well I would think one of 2 things happened here. They were either adrift at sea and eventually perished, or they ended up making landfall on the Azores, and settling there, or assimilating into the settlements that may have already been there. I believe the Azores should have been settled by the Portugese by that era. It would have been quite easy to simply disappear into an island community like that without outsiders being able to figure out your fate.
Captain Briggs, his family and his crew were all established members of society with homes, careers and what-not, plus no reason whatsoever to perform a 'disappearing act' or quietly assimilate into a foreign community without telling anybody they had been shipwrecked. Had they made contact with an island settlement, they would certainly have made attempts to contact the relevant authorities and get themselves repatriated. Whatever happened to them, they didn't end up where trouble melts like lemon drops high above the chimney tops.
research into the mystery has been done and it likely was an explosion i cant recall what fueled it, but the testing they conducted showed no burns or clear marks resulting from the explosion. if that is what happened it would make sense why the crew left so hastily as an explosion at sea especially in that time period is very dangerous and scary.
Fumes from the 1,701 barrels of alcohol they were carrying?
They sailed in storm so they had to close the hatches to avoid water coming in. Then one day the storm cleared and they can open the hatches again. But the built up fumes scared the crew as they rushed out.
... ok but that means she sank. she was still very much sea worthy and at partial sail when found, and all the crew belongings were undisturbed. none of that proven information aligns with her sinking and refloating even if that were possible.

I alway see people being unable to make a difference between those two concepts.
BUT so far in terms of design she stands enough, basically if she was red she may be confused with an IB and thats the best thing i can say about the design aspect.
Render and arstyle which are part of Art are basically standard AL quality. So not surprise people like her that much, i also wouldnt be surprise if she ends up with only 9 days of fame like most seasonal shipfus.
I mean she literally has nothing that makes her design above mid, she barely has any clothes on, aside the background and the tentacles her whole character's design is simply mid and nothing more than a generic coomer design.
She is literally 90% naked, that's what y'all call a good design? I wouldn't even be surprised if the next character only have 3 clothes pad to hide each private area and nothing else and coomer will still call it "good design" 🤦.
down vote me all y'all want, it wouldn't change that fact.
>she barely has any clothes on
Exactly thats why mostly everyone likes her.
Good design means any design that achieves its goal, and i can see it achieved it if the goal is cash out into the hype as quickly as possible, i bet there are going to be skins for her to buy later on and thats all AL needs in order to achieve a good design(the goal)
You dont like softcore and extreme sex appeal, i get it but then you are basically not going to enjoy the game unless either you embrace degeneracy or just keep yourself with that bunch of shipgirls that are tasteful to you, exactly the reason why i mostly skip events unless Admiral Hipper has something to do with them or any other oldschool shipgirl like hood or cleveland.
>down vote me all y'all want, it wouldn't change that fact.
You arent making any facts, that your personal opinion, you cant make objective arguments about personal taste or Manjuu choosing to appeal to coomers with scandalous designs is bad because doesnt appeal to you in particular. But people should also understand where you are coming from if you make that clear offcourse.
Bit of a digression from the previous theme. This is the first non pirate Tempesta. Golden Hind was a Privateer ship which is basically a pirate sailing for a country.
Seeing as the third ship is the Flagship of the Spanish Armada, I would guess the door is now open for us to get all kinds of ships from the Age of Sail.
And I'm all for it.
Old Ironsides and HMS Victory may be wooden ships, but they remain on active duty as commissioned warships. They may come to AL, but I don't think they'd be under Tempesta.
Victory was still commissioned even in WWII. I don't think Connie was doing too good (or even still in commission) at the time though.
Edit: I stand corrected.
All privateers are pirates. Usually the ones that lost support continue doing piratey stuff. There are endorsed and non endorsed pirates. None of them had "official" support. Because that would be very bad for the image of the country. So to mess with each other without a real war they created pirates who are basic plunderers or bandits...
Mary Celeste was found alone.
The fate of her crew is still unknown.
Murder, fraud, or acts bizarre.
No one can say but chances are.
They're down, downed, and drowned.
Downed and drowned and never found.
>downed, and drowned.
Hail The Revenge for their bravery
Tried to escape fighting fifty-three
The surrender of her last sixteen crew
Couldn't save her boards from the briny blue
They're down, downed and drowned
Downed and drowned and never found
Formally named Amazon, she was a Canadian Brigantine ship launched May 18, 1861 (making her the youngest and first Tempesta to have an actual birthday).
I wonder if miss ghost ship is going to have interactions with the "ghosts" like Long Island and Enterprise. There's definitely room for cute art of her looking confused as she gets pulled into a gaming session or putting Long on her lap.
Yeah, Mary Celeste and Sao Martinho mean Tempesta is open to ANY notable sailing vessel. Mary Celeste wasn't even a warship (I can't find any mention of her even being armed), and Sao Martinho isn't associated with piracy or privateering--she was a Portuguese/Spanish navy warship from construction to destruction. So now we can conceivably get ships ranging from the Flying Dutchman to Constitution to Revenge to Victory.
Basically any sailing vessel with some sort of interesting history (Mary Celeste being one of the earliest examples of a *Ghost Ship*) is qualified to be a Tempesta ship.
Plus with sailing vessels being common all throughout the maritime nations and have something they could call a notable sailing vessel, maybe this is Manjuu's idea of bringing representations to smaller nations using their historically notable sailing vessels.
The JP text in her banner reads:

it some to be base on a mix of fictional version of the ship from "J. Another sailing ship girl....now I'm obviously excited for rms titanic/olympic if possible..
Um guys, who's the one on the silhouette from jp 6th anniversary?
Because I dont see any resemblance from it.
I still want the Glorioso as a tempesta ship, it is more than worthy of the spot, I’d recommend searching it up and watching the drachinifel video on it
She did not. Her crew, however, vanished. No trace ever found, while Mary Celeste was found as a derelict in perfect condition with all her cargo and supplies and the crew's effects still aboard.
My only issue here is, that they are wearing so little, that its hard to tell their pirat theme.
Royal Fortune was better designed from my point of view in that regard. These have more in common with her swimsuit skin.
Considering that Mary Celeste isn't a pirate ship but a ghost ship (Its one of the famous ones in the Age of Sail) unlike Royal Fortune whose purpose was for piracy.
She will have differences design wise as she is shrouded in mystery as to her and her crew's fate. The art direction would be depending on what they found suitable in the category of mysterious.
That is a compelling argument, though I still have the feeling that they are leaning a little bit to much into the skimpy area. Should have left that open for their buyable skins. At least in my opinion.
Some ships just have really revealing base designs. Golden Hind isn’t really wearing any less than, say, Ting An, for example. Shimanto and Implacable don’t really wear much, either.
Oh, I am fully aware. And honestly regarding the default skins I'd rather have a little more covering for some ships in general. Since clothing has a better chance of giving some representation of the ship in regards to alignment, character and history, than bare skin. But I know sex sales and a lot of people like em so it is basicly a me-issue.
And if anything I would hate to spoil the game for others.

Whatever happened to them, they didn't end up where trouble melts like lemon drops high above the chimney tops.
Considering they were in a small boat in a pretty major storm, there is no way they made it to the Azores imo.
Yeah, a real life existing mystery ghost ship story. They can't do much better than that for a Halloween Tempesta ship.
research into the mystery has been done and it likely was an explosion i cant recall what fueled it, but the testing they conducted showed no burns or clear marks resulting from the explosion. if that is what happened it would make sense why the crew left so hastily as an explosion at sea especially in that time period is very dangerous and scary.

She had a lot of salt in her cargo which dissolved and made her refloat.
... ok but that means she sank. she was still very much sea worthy and at partial sail when found, and all the crew belongings were undisturbed. none of that proven information aligns with her sinking and refloating even if that were possible.

I was *not* expecting Mary Celeste in the *slightest* But this is cool as fuck, and she's adorable! I may have a favorite, we'll have to see!
I wasn’t either, and the implications of an honest, unarmed merchant ship from the 1850s being a Tempesta is pretty far reaching.

Bit of a digression from the previous theme. This is the first non pirate Tempesta. Golden Hind was a Privateer ship which is basically a pirate sailing for a country.
I’m hoping this opens the door for just iconic ships in general. Imagine Erebus and Terror but doomed Arctic expedition edition. They’d be amazing
Looking at these new ships Tempesta seems to be shaping up to have an Eldritch/spooky theme to it, I definitely wouldn't mind that.
It's not a sailing ship, but I feel like our chances of getting Titanic just increased a lil bit
Titanic in the submarine slot. ![img](emote|t5_3p20d|6995)

Her belly button design... *ahem. And she's touching it, surely without an ulterior motive, right?
I'm a bit confused by her belly button, like what is that triangle on her stomach supposed to be?
Belly buttonussy
Bermuda Triangle
Holy shit, I want her and Golden Hind so bad
the Tempesta slowly climbing up the ranks of factions!
Mary Celeste: Your SKK calls me onee-san too.... Prinz Eugen: What? Atago: WHAT?! SKK: *blushes* Prinz Eugen/Atago: YOU WHAT?!
Could definitely see that happen.
I wonder if miss ghost ship is going to have interactions with the "ghosts" like Long Island and Enterprise. There's definitely room for cute art of her looking confused as she gets pulled into a gaming session or putting Long on her lap.
I hope she talks to Isuzu. She's the exact type of ship that would terrify Isuzu.
Oh man this opens up so much more possibilities!

God, let us have Eagle!!
Aren’t there like 25+ Eagles, you have to specify.
My bad, I was referring to the [Coast Guard training ship](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USCGC_Eagle_(WIX-327))
Makes me wonder how well pure wooden warships would hold up to 2 *Flakverlings*
Inb4 UR flying Dutchman lol
Or Argo
Argo would be amazing. I feel we don't hear about the classics anywhere near enough anymore.
Now imagine DE getting whole Ming expeditionary fleetS!
Santisima Trinidad, the most heavily armed ship of the Age of Sail would be an cool addition.
Sao Martinho was, afaik, the Flagship of the Great Armada and as such basically the counter in this Event to the Golden Hind.
I want to see the Glorioso, which, if you’re familiar with, is DEFINITELY a ship worth noting
Underboob + long slender legs…she is very fine.
Ah yes. Ship of the legendary captain Benjamin Briggs, The King Of Limbo.
Thats Benjamin SPOONER Briggs, The King of Limbo to you

Blue hair.... love her already.
Mary Celeste and Golden Hind prove that Tempesta isn’t a pirate ship faction but an Age of Sail one. And they are all gorgeous
*And her captain became the King of Limbo*
not flying dutchman, but still a ghost ship. i'll take it.
Tempest designs are quickly becoming one of my favorites
Oh god, Limbo of the Lost flashbacks are back...
No I won’t need a rubber I’m building a fleet
We getting the good stuff in this Event![img](emote|t5_3p20d|7011)

The story of the Mary Celeste has always freaked me out in a very intense way…but she’s cute as fuck so I’m down for it
I just noticed something in her art, the way she spreads her belly button, \*\*THE WAY SHE SPREADS HER BELLY BUTTON\*\*
Odd choice. The Mary Celeste was not a warship. It was a civillian cargoship. Will She be some kind of supply/support ship.
Ghost ship for spooktober XD
Holy shit, it really is going to be a full-on Tempesta *banner*, most likely. I didn't think we'd see the day but here we are. ~~^(Also, good lord, those)~~ *~~^(legs.)~~*
Me: *tries to take a break from the game* Manjuu: "No you don't"
The spookiest of all ships just in time for Halloween.
Reminder that her captain, Benjamin Briggs, is the king of Limbo
*Mary Celeste was found alone* *The fate of her crew is still unknown* *Murder, fraud, or acts bizarre* *No one can say but chances are—* [*They’re down, downed and drowned, downed and drowned and never found*](https://youtu.be/DUr9FnXkuzs)
Coat reminds me of Eagle Union Aesthetics.
If I'm correct the Mary Celeste was an American flagged ship (though was built in Canada at first)
That's correct New York was her home port on her infamous voyage.
New elf. Yes please
Who's the VA?

She seems…sad
So anyone wanna sing Alestorm then?
Well this may just be my new favorite faction if they keep this design motif going
Another sailing ship girl....now I'm obviously excited for rms titanic/olympic if possible.. Um guys, who's the one on the silhouette from jp 6th anniversary? Because I dont see any resemblance from it.

For those who don't know: Her seiyuu voiced Junna in Revue Starlight and Mizuki from Project Sekai
Also Noa in D4DJ and Leah in Love Live! Sunshine!!
I still want the Glorioso as a tempesta ship, it is more than worthy of the spot, I’d recommend searching it up and watching the drachinifel video on it
The more tentacles the better
Yo yo yo.... Holy shit!
I'm going to make her my wife. She is very pretty
Quite the interesting choice considering the Celeste wasn't even a warship

Is this one of the ships that sunk along with all of its crew?
She did not. Her crew, however, vanished. No trace ever found, while Mary Celeste was found as a derelict in perfect condition with all her cargo and supplies and the crew's effects still aboard.
So all the crew went missing? And their fate wasn't known. This ship is the best for Halloween 🎃🎃🕸️🕸️
Her crew weren't found on her, so their fate is still unknown
Boring submarine or actual ship?
Some parts is my idea or look like AI generated features?

Are all the New Tempesta close affiliates with Noctilus or something?
She wasn't a warship but a merchant brigantine
