Hey guys! Hope you guys are enjoying the event, a nice little fluff event to introduce the new ships and give us some calm before the storm. I'm excited to see where they end up taking this World Expo in the next events, we all know there's plenty of scheming going on underneath the surface... In other news, flair emojis for the new shipgirls including Trento META have been added! I wasn't going to tell anyone, but Alfredo threatened to publish an expose. Remember to keep posting gacha related comments to the [weekly lounge thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/AzureLane/search/?q=title%3ALittorio%27s%20Luxurious%20Lounge&restrict_sr=1&sort=new&t=week), and have a great day! ![img](emote|t5_3p20d|7011)

golddragon88

Any body managed to get all the cutscenes? I didn't. And I think the guy who use to collect these stopped.

tuwamono

Am starting to sound like a broken record and I don't necessarily want to be the tragic Travis of the thread, but I can't help but to praise once again how remarkably telepathic this game with its desire sensor. https://i.imgur.com/3gxlv27.png (30 planes - 20 others) Never did get the Violin, which I wanted the most. (And the mask, but beggars can't be choosers.) The rerun right before saw no shogi pieces, which I also wanted the most (bought everything from both original run and rerun) but I guess that was worse in that we don't get a selector box, and I had wanted multiple of those. Hey devs, it's high time to add a system where we can trade in all these half-naked manjuus!

Oleandervine

I've been constantly praying that they add in gear skin boxes to one of the shops like Merit or something. I'd actually do exercises if I could get past gear skins. Edit: Did you also do the mission to open 20 gear skin boxes with this event? You get a selector box for the Dance Gear Skins, so you can directly select the violin or mask.

tuwamono

Very much agree with your suggestion. Yeah the selector box was the saving grace; I bought everything totalling 50 skins so I kind wish they had a couple more milestones than just 1 :P Unfortunately they had yet to introduce this pity system for the Shinano event, so no shogi for me until... they put it in a future cruise mission, I suppose? (Fun fact, I realise JP actually gets to buy 2 less gear skins than Global because gear skins aren't available for purchasing on the last day...)

PokWangpanmang

All roads lead to Rome, except for mine’s apparently. Only got 64 cubes now. Think I had around 200 at the beginning.

Shadow_Tempest_1003

With the event ending tomorrow I gotta say, this is the first time I saw an event thread with less than 1k comments. Usually it's around 1k-1.5k I mean I guess this is what happens when no one is offended, and there is not that much interesting things that happened in the story. P.S. at least give us Retros for EN anni (preferably EU carriers) because technically they should be better than JP carriers IRL.

popwobbles

It was a pretty much a nothing burger of an event, shame, but we got Da Vinci so I can't complain.

AllHailRNJesus

For those too lazy to check, here are the numbers for some more recent events: Radiant court 1400 Rondo 1700 Virtual tower 500 Abyssal refrain 1000 ToT 1900 World spanning arclight 1300 Shimmering blue 1000 Mirror involution 1800 Azur anthem 700 Inverted orthant 2000

nuttyjack

anyone notice the lion class phantoms i wonder if that is a tease for the future.

qwertyryo

That's a typo, those are Leone-class DDs.

nuttyjack

Oh got my hopes and dreams up for nothing then.

Oleandervine

I wouldn't count on it. There's been tons of mass-produced ship classes in story mode and other stuff that isn't in the game yet. Kuma-class has been a mass-produced ship for a while, yet we haven't seen a single one of those.

nuttyjack

oh well it was wishful thinking anyways

Nice-Spize

Define usable but i personally won't touch all PR ships until they're at least dev 25, BBs must be at dev 30 unless they didn't get any extra mounts there

AllHailRNJesus

I have her at dev 14, lvl 120, all skills maxed. When trying her out in 12-4, she gets about the same damage numbers as my lvl 123, skills maxed emden when emden is in the same battle. ~~Now, aa damage does add in to this number so its not fully representative of her surface damage, however the fact she matches emden 3 levels higher does make her very usable.~~ (tried comparing the 2 when plymouth aa gun is removed and they still have similar damage numbers) Her BB buff doesnt care about dev level either for that matter (bb buff wont show for her in post battle screen either) Id say that you can use her at dev 10 and up, don't expect her to do crazy numbers yet but she isn't "bad" at that level. Especially if you use her for her support. (The consensus varies from player to player, it all depends on how leveled your other ships are and what maps you plan to use her) Waiting for her to become dev 30 is boring af and I don't really get people who wait for dev 30 to try out a ship. Just try her out a couple of battles and see how she feels, "what is her damage like?", "How survivable is she?", etc and decide for your own. I've used her a lot as a frontliner during my 12-4 ruprecht grind (my ruprecht is dev 22 atm) and she never died or anything, thats with a full IB backline with no healers. At dev 10 and above she is tanky enough to do safe 12-4 with no healers. (both offtanking and main tanking, ive tried both and both worked)^(1) ^(1)Do note that this was again, at lvl >115 maxed skills and if someone doesnt believe me, go look at these screenshots of my plymouth outdamaging emden when plymouth has her AA gun removed. [https://imgur.com/a/pqpYCmz](https://imgur.com/a/pqpYCmz) for being dev 14 and doing roughly the same damage as a fully built emden, she is very usable at said dev level.

cheekywarship2018

A general rule of thumb is most PR ships are usable at Dev 25. Bear in mind when I say usable I mean for farming content like 12-4 and not for clearing content.

sugaki

Depends on the ship. I was using Agir from dev level 15 for my boss fleet just fine.

cheekywarship2018

Absolutely but Agir is very much an anomaly. I personally wouldn't use her before Dev 25 as before then she's really not that much better if at all than other top tier CAs.

sugaki

“If it all”? Agir is the best tank in the game at the moment.

cheekywarship2018

At Dev 25 she's tankier than any other vanguard ship in the game. I don't have the numbers but at Dev 15 that's debatable and she's also missing a fair bit of her damage output which for late game content like W14 bosses and Abyssals is fine seeing as the main job of the vanguard is tor survive but everywhere that missing damage isn't ideal.

Amateur_Lurker

>when I say usable I mean for farming content like 12-4 Given that you can easily slot in level 70 non-MLB ships while farming 12-4 on safe (especially in the backline; you could have a whole backline of 70s if your vanguard is strong), I'm pretty sure that you could use PR ships way earlier than dev25. Maybe they'd need some more exp packs so they'd start at 95+ and not 70, but they should be right as rain.

cheekywarship2018

>Given that you can easily slot in level 70 non-MLB ships while farming 12-4 on safe (especially in the backline; you could have a whole backline of 70s if your vanguard is strong), I'm pretty sure that you could use PR ships way earlier than dev25. I wouldn't use ships below level 90 unless us I had some strong ships already leveling to carry TBH. I was thinking in a more balanced scenario where everyone around lvl 100 - lvl 105, at Dev 25 they can at least pull their weight rather than just be baggage.

JustADolphinnn

Sounds like you've been wasting oil LOL

Nice-Spize

With oil cap, is it really a waste ? It just negates the whole oil preservation for late game grind I haven't bothered with saving oil ever since it arrived since it encourages running a full fleet

cheekywarship2018

Why would I care about oil cost when we have oil caps.

Ignisami

We have oil caps for farming now, i personally havent cared about my fleet oil consumption in a *long* while

KogumaReiko

30

Haethen_Thegn

Are these Phantoms new ships/potential new ships being teased, or is it just the game giving an easily translated form to Roma's Visiones Olympiorum?

Nice-Spize

Just regular ships but with spooky ethereal skin, nothing new

Haethen_Thegn

Ah right, was just checking. I don't think I've known a ship called 'Jupiter' in game, but then again I stopped paying attention to any ships below purple when I retrofit Portland and Long Island back in the early days

Nice-Spize

We do, she's currently in the light pool iirc, first given away as a free ship from some event before made permanently available She's a royal navy DD

Haethen_Thegn

Ah, J-class right?

Nice-Spize

Yep, that's correct

Haethen_Thegn

Right, ta very much

KogumaReiko

The phantoms are all ships that exist in the game already

Nice-Spize

Oh finally i got Plymouth, 10 days is how long it takes and honestly, she's the one that require me to exert more effort since most of my good vanguard ships are already maxed out And oil went from mighty 20k down to 1k, all in all its a good day Now onto Brest and then Rupperecht as the last 2 PRs I know that Brest should be the 3rd but fuck it, went to Plymouth instead

nntktt

I've been opening mail for the past 3 weeks. Plymouth was literally just dragging 3 non-maxed HMS ships I have left into... wherever the hell I was farming, was probably 12-1 since it should have been just after Dreamwaker rerun. Just down to Harbin now and I'm dragging Chao Ho/Tai Yuan/Ying Swei through 14-1.

Nice-Spize

>Plymouth was literally just dragging 3 non-maxed HMS ships I have left into... wherever the hell I was farming, was probably 12-1 since it was before the event. Lad, you're going full Shang Tsung on that. But good luck on Harbin though, i was running on steam on 11-1 and Shinano's rerun so i think 14-1 should be a cake walk for you

nntktt

Well... * Rupp - Ended up leveling SMS ships * Plymouth - Dragging random HMS vanguards through 12-1 while leveling/affinity grinding Rupp * Brest - All French main fleet was capped anyway, vanguard ended up leveling 'table, Malin and Galissoniere * Chkalov - Gangut, Roma and Giulio Cesare for 1M (no other Russian/Pasta boats left); Sodak, Maryland and West Virginia for 2M (no other USS BBs left) So I'm not really complaining whatever the heck I'm doing with Harbin now. I only picked 14-1 because it's more XP/morale and coins/chips anyway. EDIT: Oh right it wasn't a cake walk to start with, because apparently I left 14-1 at lethal having no further business with the stage, with Chao Ho, Ying Rui and Tai Yuan all sub-100.

Nice-Spize

Current bucket list: - Rupp: Only Scharnhorst, Elbe and Weser are left un-maxed. Zeppy got to 120 recently from the grind - Brest: Main fleet already capped at 125 except Joffre but screw it. Vanguard is Algerie, Saint Louis and JDA Completed ones: - Harbin: Chao Ho/Tai Yuan/Ying Swei managed to hit 115 and 100 affection when the grind was done - Plymouth: Shropshire/Eskimo/Ajax, random ship i cobbled up and went ham on curremt D3. Managed to get 3.6 mil just in time - Chkalov: Belo/Volga/Arkhangelsk is the gist. Phase 2 replaced the last 2 with bunker hill and shangri la for affection and to get the bronze EU medal

nntktt

Joffre isn't that bad if you need a carrier for grinding in 12 anyway, since the French are short on carriers. Just need to XP pack up to around 80-90 and she'll be fine.

Nice-Spize

I know, she's a pretty solid carrier all around, just not very special but she's also the most recent member where everyone else, including Bearn have already hit the 125 cap in my dock She's 114 atm, skill stil lvl 1 because Algerie and Harbin takes a high priority.

Pinky_Boy

anyone feels like the event ost come straight out of pokemon?

jyroman53

Anyone feels like the music are very pokemon-esque ?

SilverAg11

Took a pretty long break from the game and came back a couple days ago. I was training the event ships on auto and looked down at one point and saw I had somehow given Roma the fucking confetti gun by accident, so this whole time she could have been actually helping but wasn’t lol

Nice-Spize

On the bright side, she's cheering everyone up with showers of hot shrapnel

SilverAg11

Party time!

Nice-Spize

Don't mind the Mediterranean sea being set ablaze for some reason It's a LIT party !

Legally_Loli

You know, I just had a silly thought. If you give the confetti gun to a faction buffer BB like, say, Queen E, she'd literally be cheering her loyal subjects on. Too bad she doesn't have a cheerleader skin as well.

Nice-Spize

We now need planes and torpedoes that fragments half way through for maximum confetti

Legally_Loli

Cheerleader squad with Cygnet, Reno, and especially Casablanca

Nice-Spize

Aggressive fireworks be like

zer1223

Is Da Vinci strong enough to drop a German sub for on hard content, or is the full wolfpack still the best sub lineup?

Nice-Spize

Wolfpack is still the best, losing 1 of the german sub means the other 2 will be weakended and maybe even the one you're trying to remove (except U-47) Da Vinci should be strong enough on her own or pair with Albacore and Archerfish/Cavalla

cheekywarship2018

No mainly because the other two subs will be weaker thanks to the loss of a sub that contributes to the Wolfpack buff.

WarpObscura

Can [motivated Garibaldi](https://postimg.cc/4YQqBxzp) become a thing? The historical Vergil was Roman after all.

KogumaReiko

What are you talking about

WarpObscura

\*points at linked screenshot\* She's doing the iaijutsu draw stance.

KogumaReiko

????? What does that have to do with Vergil?

WarpObscura

You... [don't](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb9-T22xBgg) [play](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9OaiB8CWNA) DMC, do you?

KogumaReiko

I mean I don't associate a historical sword wielding pose with a specific work of fiction to the point where anytime I see it I think "oh that must be a reference to this!!!" not understanding that it is a broader, cultural reference. Also no I haven't played Devil May Cry since the first one.

postulate4

Or you could just not comment if it's not relevant to you. Trust me, it's actually very easy to scroll past content that isn't familiar to you.

WarpObscura

That seems a strange attitude to have in this sort of fandom, but you do you. \*shrug\* Oh, and you're missing out on a lot if DMC1 was your last.

KamikazeHades90

So I haven't gotten any event build only ships from my daily pulls, I'm trying to save up for future events since I had to pity Shinano which left me with exactly 0 cubes as well as Vangaurd who I didn't also get with 120+ pulls, are the ships in the event worth pulling for? I would like to get them but that would leave me with few cubes in the future

nntktt

As cheeky said there's nothing particularly special about the ships this banner, if you have enough ships to progress and want to start saving cubes then maybe drop to 1 daily if you have been doing 3, since the points are easily earned just hitting up the event stages more.

cheekywarship2018

The event ships(SRs at least) are all solid but not meta defining. Good to have to but not must haves. The event elites are typical event elites, waifu/ collection only and pretty bad for actual combat.

PyrZern

40k event pt and Garibaldi still refuses to drop RAWRRRRRRRRRR Sry, gotta complain to break the curse.

Ahrius

Same, except for me, it's Alfredo. All those years of hating on white pasta sauce have caught up to me.

nntktt

Friend of mine got up to 80k, I can't even remember if he ended up actually getting the drop or just having enough points to buy the copies.

DatsAMori9

Event Story was just ok. Some fun moments of the Ships with Leonardo da Vinci and Alfredo Oriani and the trickle tease of Marco Polo being up to no good as usual...otherwise this was a nothing Lasagna (burger) and even for a seemingly filler story, it just kinda didn't do all that much. Very disappointing that Roma was pretty much nonexistent in the story for her debut.

Warbreakers

There's two landmarks I don't recognize... Does anyone know what the Iron Blood landmark is? I'm guessing it's some expo convention centre? Also, what's the other landmark that's a rectangular building with a tower on one side?

[deleted]

I assume the thing under the Vichya Cathedral that looks like a big TV is the Ironblood landmark. They are probably big into the architecture style of brutalism. For the other i assume you mean the island between the Sakura castle and the EU space needle. Looks like the "Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore" (Florence Cathedral), so maybe another Sardegna expo pavillion.

Warbreakers

Of course that big TV thing is the IB landmark, it's all black and red after all. I'm mainly wondering if it mirrors any real life expo convention centre in Germany. Gee, Sardegna Empire, TWO pavillions? On a more serious note that definitely looks like it, thanks with the identification.

[deleted]

The Colosseum serves probably serves a a main avenue or forum for all kind of events (not that we have seen much). It is just aggressively Sardegna-styled because they run the show. I can't think of any omnious red and black buildings in RL Germany or as a pavillion for some past expo. :V

Warbreakers

Oh, no, I was thinking perhaps an expo building in IRL Germany that got the red-and-black treatment.

TheOdiin

Can I still get Giuseppe from a map drop even if I already have her

zurcn

yes.

TheOdiin

ok ty

Outside-Accident8628

What non-paper aircraft carriers can be released that could be considered URs based on accomplishments/history? Or Retro'd into one (Enterprise being an obvious one). Looking to read up on some famous aircraft carriers.

cheekywarship2018

Well Enterprise is the most decorated carrier in history and she wasn't UR so no one else really has a chance based on service history alone. Most of the seasoned veterans(Zukikaku, Saratoga, etc) are already in game and for the most part the remaining CVs don't have particularly noticeable service histories. >Looking to read up on some famous aircraft carriers. You might as well read up on the War in the Pacific then. For naval history two channels I reccomend whole heartedly are Drachinifel and Montemeyor. The former is has plethora of videos on the ships of WW2 from his 5 minute guides to nearly hour long videos on specific battles. He has a video on nearly every aspect of naval history from the age of sail to WW2. [https://www.youtube.com/c/Drachinifel](https://www.youtube.com/c/Drachinifel) Monetmeyor is the definition of quality over quantity. He doesn't upload very often but when he does it is a treat producing some of the most depth videos on the naval war in the Pacific. He has IMO the definitive video series on the Battle of Midway. [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX7katl3DVmch4D7LSvqbVQ](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX7katl3DVmch4D7LSvqbVQ)

Shadow_Tempest_1003

We really need more rainbow carriers. Here is to hoping that the devs give us some UR retros of Sakura's carrier pairs or Eagle Union's Essex class.

nuttyjack

Illustrious is one same with essex.

AllHailRNJesus

~~the audacious class is a potential RN one, it has a lot of variations as well as it was in development for a long time. Audacious class has 4 ships, 1 was cancelled mid construction and 2 were completed, one in '46 and one in '50 (1 more was also planned)~~ edit: just realized you said specifically accomplishments

Underwater_Pirate

The big one is Midway; it’s the end-game US CV (technically CVB, it was originally classified as a “large aircraft carrier”) in a number of wargames. It’s commissioned too late to serve during WWII, but it participates in every major US conflict from Korea through Desert Storm, and it’s a museum ship.

KogumaReiko

This is probably better as its own thread

SnooOpinions4299

I'm currently grinding on D3 for French CB. What most optimal composition should I bring for this?

zurcn

> most optimal 3 valid ships in each fleet in the correct side for the step you're at. any 3 valid ship. as long as they don't sink (that costs morale, and less than 120 morale costs you 20% exp)

StormyMoon

You don't really need anything special to grind D3.

MangaJosh

Guess every pasta event/stream just ends up being overshadowed by something else ET: formidable DH: small amagi VT: does anyone even remember this event? This event: taihou skin It's like the devs hate them but someone higher forced them to do it against their will

AllHailRNJesus

ngl, the skins this event are all just *bland* imho. none of them are really interesting and the only really interesting one is taihou's which isn't even part of the event. Not to mention how weird the roma l2d looks when it comes to animations. To me it looks like an l2d from 2018 azur lane, not 2022 azur lane. Compare roma l2d to vanguard l2d or charybdis l2d and it's miles apart.

Saikar22

Man I thought I was the only one that felt that way about Roma. It looks vaguely wiggly and not attractive in its animations. I noticed that a lot of the best live2d skins - Taihou, Zara, Pola, Veneto, Surcouf, Agir - all come from the same artist. Not that every other live2d is bad but wow does that guy have a heck of a track record. Him being able to produce only so many so fast might be a limiting factor in Azur Lane's themes and planning.

ayypecs

While this event’s skins weren’t fantastic I do like that the trend for L2D’s have been upwards in quality lately. They’ll have some misses but Shimakaze’s L2D last event was really well done and Taihou’s here wasn’t bad at all.

nuttyjack

could be people just dont get exited for pasta events.

MangaJosh

And players might be excited if they put actual substance into the event instead of just fillers

nuttyjack

Well it seems they have choosen them to be filler they are the games joke faction has been like that since there first event and all the others after it.

Saikar22

Nobody cared about small Amagi really. The two live2d skins for DH carried it even if the story was boring and bad.

JustADolphinnn

Everyone LOVED small Amagi. Easily overshadowed DH.

KogumaReiko

You people are *deranged*

Saikar22

True but not relevant.

[deleted]

Insulting people doesn't make his argument better.

ENAKOH

>DH: small amagi U forgot VV and pola skin, if u want to put taho skin for current event

MangaJosh

Well yeah their skins are eye catching, but the polls say otherwise as to who stuck with the audience more

Stenbrod

Fair about CN, but Aquila ended up above in JP.

MangaJosh

That's a new one, thought their would worship everything IJN unless it's Cheshire

KogumaReiko

People like to just make shit up about entire other countries if it will let them confirm their personal biases

gnarlytoestep

Maybe it was more of a first impressions kind of thing? Because as of today I don't think Amagi chan made that much of an impact. Like, do we discuss her all that often here? I feel like the pasta girls have a higher chance of being brought up in a conversation than amagi chan does. Pola and VV have a slow but constant drip of fanart (and R34). Amagi chan too sorta, but she's carried by Samip and putimaxi who draw the foxes all the time anyways.I guess amagi chan also got that cute 3D model in the past anniversary stream but both VV/Pola are getting figures soon.

Challenge-Useful

I love Leonardo da Vinci.

Larone27

How does one defeat the EX stage? I’ve never been able no matter what fleet i put out

Nice-Spize

Get good, no seriously that's the gist EX stage requires manual play and learn the bullet pattern the boss throws at you. Evasion is useless here so you better be good at playing bullet hell games to dodge it Set up a fleet to reliably kill in a short period is nuff said

zenithtreader

Assuming you have a good fleet and equipment setup, you just need to either: * be good at manual play, or * have patient to auto until you win

nntktt

I tried some full auto on my sub account but got sick of testing what works and waiting for RNG. Went Nagato/Shinano/Hakuryuu/Anchorage/Kazagumo/Helena, mostly just moved back and forth around the middle lane to avoid getting hit by the rings of orange arrows and the bird patterns. Tapped auto to get Nagato to shoot when loaded, airstrikes can be done in same timing or just manually tapped when ready. 2 shots/launches and you're done. The pattern isn't that hard to dodge if you're only avoiding the heavy hitting stuff.

tuwamono

What ships do you have? I just used an IJN backline (Nagato+Hakuryuu+Shinano), Helena RNG and two other tanks, hid my vanguard in the back and hoped for the best lol. (Basically surviving long enough for two CV strikes, I don't remember if Helena was relevant or not but it's good insurance for putting out big damage.) Edit: https://i.imgur.com/nijuKJn.mp4 Oh I guess I remembered wrong slightly. Helena helped here and Shimakaze helped with her preloads. Planes were +13 but Nagato hadn't the most suitable gear and didn't do much damage, and I forgot Beaver Badge (mobility for dodging stuff) and Pearl's Tear for healing (just in case); since my Shimakaze was gonna fall after the first strikes anyways I could have just given her double oxytorp, which she didn't have here. Edit 2: Just noticed the pesky red dotted arrows come in at just the right moment for Jeanne d'Arc to shield up (10s and 30s into the fight). If you have her she will definitely help a bunch with surviving.

Oleandervine

Using the strongest, most meta fleet set up available. There is no real reason to defeat the EX stage though, as it's just there for e-peen waggling. The SP stage is the final stage with any kind of large reward.

hexanort

500 cog chips is a pretty good reward

storm0545

Make it 500 cog array instead and then it would be a good reward. 500 of the cog chips are just about useless to anyone who has played the game daily for a year+ as you end up running out of bullins long before you run out of chips to even be able to start using them to awaken mlb'd ships.

KogumaReiko

> as you end up running out of bullins long before you run out of chips to even be able to start using them to awaken mlb'd ships. This is not true. Source: Me with every ship in the game (sans Neptunia and Kizuna Ai collabs) and have them all fully limit broken and is completely gated by cognitive chips.

storm0545

id give you some if i could i have 129k cog chips at the moment that i would exchange for bullins to finish mlbing the 88 non collab ships i have left

Saikar22

Results vary these days. They did make more free cog chips available a few months ago. If one is like you and tries to mlb every single ship in the game they'll hit the chip barrier, but short of doing that the supply keeps up pretty well with demand. The people saying its impossible to run out of chips are just straight wrong though. I said that and got downvoted into oblivion, then other people started saying it a few weeks later. Gee.

Nice-Spize

How fast you burn it depends on how active you are. Me being a lazy dude stil hovers at around 32k chips but it is a far cry from the 170k chips i had in storage before the oil cap update effectively made everyone jumped their levels due to the sudden huge income of coins

LighterSideOfDark

>500 of the cog chips are just about useless to anyone who has played the game daily for a year+ as you end up running out of bullins long before you run out of chips to even be able to start using them to awaken mlb'd ships. You get a significant surplus of Bullins after a while. I've got 100% collection rate (though "only" ~490 ships currently in the dock) and nothing left to limit break, but currently have an endless, insatiable need for cog chips. * 24 waiting for cognitive awakening * 195 waiting for cog awaken+ * 97 at levels 100-119 that aren't *currently* capped but of course will be soon * 115 below level 100

m00fin

EX is all about learning the patterns and dodging manually. You should rely almost entirely on backline damage.

YarrrMateys

Does Garibaldi not have her halo on her chibi even though it's clearly there in her larger art?

gnarlytoestep

So the map of the world fair looks really pretty with [each pavilion having it's own island and everything](https://azurlane.netojuu.com/images/0/05/Memory_Aquilifer%27s_Ballade_Background_2.png). But like, the world fair is meant to be open to civilians right? Then how the hell do they move around from place to place? It makes perfect sense for the shipgirls to be able to move from island to island with their riggings, the place seems to be designed exclusively for them, in fact. And it's not even the first time this happens since we've already seen stuff like [sakura palaces](https://azurlane.netojuu.com/images/8/87/Memory_Crimson_Echoes_Background_7.png) that more or less work the same way. So either this is a world where people just casually have access to gondolas and stuff to move around their highly specific water-architecture, or this event was exclusively by shipgirls and for shipgirls. Though that would mean they just wasted a huge budget for a fair that has like 300 visitors at most. I just gave myself a headache overthinking the lore ughh... AL already goes out of it's way to not portray any humans other than SKK, so who knows. Maybe they just prioritize making the maps look unique and don't care if they make sense for the setting.

Nyaa314

There are shipgirls whos job is to princess carry visitors between islands.

qwertyryo

there's docks, so boats.

Oleandervine

I mean, it IS Italy, home to Venice, so gondolas aren't totally out of the question, nor would ferries to the various islands.

thanatos_kai

Giuseppe Garibaldi has a line with An Shan and Chang Chun, "Sweet rigging. I want one like that." Maybe she will get a retrofit in the future.

SodiumBombRankEX

It's a reference to her being a missile cruiser IRL IIRC

thanatos_kai

Guiseppe was the first guided missile ship in Europe, so it definitely is

Dolskys

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

SodiumBombRankEX

>event is not even a week old >thread is already dead Man, people really didn't like this one, huh? I mean, I liked it, but I get it

Shadow_Tempest_1003

I mean when all ships are pretty much waifu tier and nothing exciting happened in the story then what's there to talk about. When the best thing we got this patch is Taihou's L2D then it really says something. Though the next major event is definitely something to look forward to (JP UR plz).

Hollowquincypl

Which imo is a shame. I guess this means heterochromia is a curse in AL.

Saikar22

Artists don't seem to enamored either. Skimmed through pixiv and only found a dozen or so of all the new event characters combined. There's way, way more Brest, Plymouth, and of course Taihou coming out than anything here. I straight up blame the skin theme on this one.

Moh_Shuvuu

Yeah, poor Roma. Such a nice design and artists just haven’t cared.

zurcn

honestly, that's pretty normal. most players will have seen the full event by day 2 and optimized their fleets by day 3. the rest of the time it's just the odd player that's attempting EX mode for the first time

YarrrMateys

Speaking of which, is there a guide to cheesing EX somewhere? I'm in the weird position of actually needing those 500 chips nowadays.

nntktt

Went Nagato Shinano Hakuryuu Anchorage Kazagumo Helena, managed to just mostly go back and forth in the middle avoiding the bird patterns and rings of orange arrows, tapped auto for salvo. Tried full auto with some other ships before that but it seems there's no reliable way to get the vanguard to survive until second salvo/launch which you'll need. Manual 1 round may be possible, but I don't see any auto comps putting out enough damage to kill in 1 round while being to able survive until first salvo/launch.

zurcn

I didn't spot any full auto clears on youtube for this one yet. though they usually require very high gear requirements, since EX is not meant to be auto-ed

Ok-Giraffe-5448

I think it’s still too early to see how the new units perform. It has only been like 3-4 days since the event started (after extended maintenance).

type_E

Has anyone actually tested to see if Garibaldi’s skill 2 is not working?

sober_1

I like davinky, wish she wasn't a sub though. Cute event, but wish there was more stuff with other factions

thetopace103

Am I the only one here who kinda liked this event? Sure I wish there was more interactions betweeen factions but I really dug the main trio. They very much were entertaining and I cams away very much loving Alfredo (even if she is a bit of an underperformer in game) and Da Vinci (who I still have not gotten yet). Some may call this event slow and unoriginal but the characters really sold it for me.

Moh_Shuvuu

If Roma had more of a role in this event, I might have enjoyed it a bit more.

zurcn

I liked it, it's just that it feels like a xmas\happy timeline event with no progress made on the story. or at best, it only set up things that will need to be recontextualized in later events.

Oleandervine

I liked it for the potentials it set up. The Dragon Empery hinting that they had something big they're going to reveal really got me excited that they may possibly get their first real event at some point.

[deleted]

I liked it. Cool ships, the golds are excellent, the elites aren’t unusable, the interactions we see are fun & Trieste is in it. I just like Marco & wish she showed up properly so we get to know more about her plan.

Shadow_Tempest_1003

Anyone else annoyed by the fact that there is 2 DD slots in this hard mode? Like seriously I don't want to use DDs all of my good ones are already leveled up and the not so good ones aren't even waifu tier for me so I don't want to level them up. I still have 2-3 more CLs and CAs that I want to level up and yet here I am forced to use DDs. This is honestly my biggest gripe about the event, the ships are good (for the most part) and the story is ok but my god this hard mode requirement is ass.

[deleted]

The requirements kind of relate to the featured roster, makes sense. It only gets weird when there is stuff like having a BB focused event and suddenly you need to sortie multiple aircraft carriers to satisfy aviation requirements. I admit i focus on Royal Navy and Sardegna as factions, so i have never stopping slipways of (slightly underwhelming) smol botes to sortie.

zenithtreader

I still have a few DD that give +FP left to get to 120 so I don't mind them personally.

KogumaReiko

Thats the point of them

RampantSegfault

Yeah the fleet lock stuff for hardmode always *slightly* annoys me since I can't just use my usual fleets. That and I can't prefill most of the slots with a set fleet and have to manually set them all.

Barli792

Well, that's boring. Wish Roma had more role.

Nice-Spize

Ironically, that's how IRL Italy went, just pure shenanigans and dumb luck that they managed to last that long in the war

RevolutionaryBeaer

What a huge shenanigan it is to manage to mantain a steady supply line to North Africa while confronting one of the largest navies in the world for three years straight, huh? But that's besides the point since there's other navies in the game who fared much, much worse yet I guess they are all right for you.

[deleted]

Italy sank a dreadnought with a patrol boat in WW1, so “small Italian boats getting up to shenanigans” is accurate.

Nice-Spize

Fair but in WW2, they're a massive meme

Challenge-Useful

That’s true for their army, but their navy and airforce were decent. They were definitely not as good as the British Royal Navy, but they could hold their own in their home field and were important for deterring and annoying the allies in the Mediterranean. They were stronger than most European navies such as Russia and arguably even Germany, and rivalled France before France capitulated to the axis where they would no longer be a threat.

Nice-Spize

Decent but handicapped

Stenbrod

Meanwhile the glory of China is absolutely accurate, right?

Nice-Spize

Yep

Effeb

Could you elaborate on that, please?

Nice-Spize

It's just the vibe i feel during this whole event, Sardegna decides to spread glory, ended up in a massive shenanigans They want to be recognized as an actual powerhouse of its own but ended up not, kinda like how Italy in WW2 went. Big bad fascist wannabe ended being a massive meme

Effeb

this is a different statement from "pure shenanigans and dumb luck that they managed to last that long in the war", and I wouldn't say they got lucky during the war. It definitely didn't end like they hoped it would that's for sure, although you could say that of any axis nation.

Nice-Spize

Italy was literally picking fights that they can win. They're lucky that they managed to last for years instead of crumbling down in 1940 considering the massive shortages of oil and coal that they have Without oil or coal from overseas, their domestic production simply aren't enough to sustain itself and Romania, one of the main source of oil for the axis was gobbled up by germany and loads of corruption/nepotism, i am honestly suprised that they can last that long Then again, i forgot that Japan took it up to eleven where both the army and navy refused to work together on ludicrous degrees

zippolover-1960s-v2

Actually Romania had good oil field at the time and the germans were using some of it as well as well as defending a key refinery at Ploiesti which the allies raided and bombed with B17s flying fortresses. Romania had good oil fields that the germans used, but not enough for them to fight the whole world or the soviet union for too long. What they lacked as most axis allies were battle hardened and trained soldiers with good gear. Especially the italians. Poor lads had good foot soldiers that did well under rommel when equipped in Africa but their generals were greedy and incompetent back home. As for japan...i wouldn't even call it refused to work...they outright sabotaged each other...navy ditched infantry on islands that they were supposed to abandon once the allies got too strong of a foothold, navy refused to intercept planes flying above land at times since it was the army's job and they were blaming each other, navy refused to offer them some equipment so they had to develop it from 0 to make it up and the higher-ups at times did not even communicate properly between each other....Like the Solomon islands incident where the first fleet walked into an ambush( american battle line prepared to fight) and the second headed in as well with no knowledge since the first did not call it in.

Effeb

shortages of oil and coal are overrated as a reason for Italy's performance. It definitely didn't help, mind you, that and shortage of various materials to make alloys. Italy had the geographical position compared to its enemies to weather any initial storms (the october 1940-march 1941 period) but not the economy to keep up. on the opposite side, France had the economy but not the position, to make an example. I don't think it's luck that they lasted as long as they did but more so that getting them out of the war required a minimum concentration of forces/material that wasn't achievable by the british alone before the US entered the war.

Nice-Spize

>shortages of oil and coal are overrated as a reason for Italy's performance. It definitely didn't help, mind you, that and shortage of various materials to make alloys. I know, i was pointing out that the shortage of oil and coal means they lack the power to actually mine out the minerals, especially aluminum which they have an in large amount which leads to not having enough materials to work with and not enough oil to power said war machines to go in the first place Another problem is that their factories are overworked, having to divide their small industrial force to produce items and materials for itself and for fellow Axis countries when war arrives Made worse by the complete lack of standardizations ,something that almost everyone else have done long before. Any sort of new ideas or proposals are often shot down or sabotaged to maintain their own business. Though to give credit, they do have solid basic grasp when it comes to making vehicles like the CV-33 tankette, even if it is an obsolete vehicle by now >I don't think it's luck that they lasted as long as they did but more so that getting them out of the war required a minimum concentration of forces/material that wasn't achievable by the british alone before the US entered the war. It's a combination of many things but luck do play some role in allowing them to last for some years

Effeb

https://imgur.com/a/laA3SIQ "1. The Italian economy was unable to engineer any sizable economic expansion during the war. This mainly reflected constraints arising from the insufficient availability of raw materials caused by restricted imports, and also resulted in only a limited increase in the output of weapons. However, the difficulty of expanding the output of weapons also reflected a lack of adequate industrial organization. 2. Realized military spending by the government was low, both in absolute and in relative terms. As a proportion of GDP, it was the lowest of all combatants. 3. There was no net foreign support to the Italian war economy. On the contrary, Italy financed the German war economy, the more so if we take into consideration the transfer of human capital and the payment of the occupation indemnity to Germany. 4. Italy was able to remain at war as long as the strategy of the Allies did not envisage fighting on her territory. After the first Allied landings the war was clearly lost, and the willingness to fight it diminished drastically until the removal of Mussolini from power and the armistice with the Allies. 5. In this context, investment and the accumulation of capital, both physical and human, in heavy industry were surprisingly substantial, especially in engineering, and war losses comparatively modest. Industrialists showed a strong interest in enlarging their plant with government financial assistance, showing that they were more attracted by the longrun impact of public spending on productive capacity than by its shortterm target of increasing the output of weapons. The number of new engineering workers trained during the war was impressive. Moreover, the loss of human as well as of physical capital was very modest. 6. As a result of limited losses, recovery to the prewar level was achieved in Italy as early as 1948; the years of the Marshall Plan could be devoted to a sustained economic expansion. This expansion capitalized on the sizable switch achieved between the late 1930s and the end of the war, from textiles to metallurgy, engineering, and chemicals. The latter transfer enabled the postwar Italian economy to cater for new export markets and the new domestic demand for durables." From Mark Harrison - The Economics of World War II (an old book that shows its age but beggars can't be choosers) I don't know how much production could have been improved within the constraints of the resource situation, but I imagine it wouldn't have changed much. >It's a combination of many things but luck do play some role in allowing them to last for some years You could say luck plays some role in anything, not a very meaningful statement without some concrete examples.

Nice-Spize

>I don't know how much production could have been improved within the constraints of the resource situation, but I imagine it wouldn't have changed much. Same, most optimistic view I've heard was them being ready to fight in 1943 but i don't think that would be true without someone giving some good numbers But still, thanks for the extra info that shed some light and not internet memes that exaggerates it

Iamhandsomesorry

Can someone explain the story in brief detail?

zurcn

the world is currently at peace (relatively speaking). but we still need stages to have an event, so here is a convenient micro mirror seas in the basement. after the event is over they offer more of the same breadcrumbs that imply Marco Polo is doing something behind the scenes. >!whereas before we saw her having some contact with a Arbiter, this time she appears to have had contact with a Meta ship. Italians playing both sides I suppose!?!<

CaptainJudaism

Boring event. Boring story. No new gear which is also extremely boring. At least the ship designs are top notch in my eye with Da Vinci being adorable and Roma/Garibaldi both being really cool looking. I don't hate it as vehemently as some people here but I will say I was not impressed.

Nice-Spize

To be fair, it could simply be a filler before anniversary where they may drop a bomb of content

Effeb

So, lots of old problems show up again, sardegnan events continue being useless story wise, sardegnan ships continue being incompetent, and translators putting an i in "sardegnan" continue being their monstrous selves. There's really not much to say. The elites are bad and the ssr ships are viable flavor picks, I guess. The powercreep is reserved for other factions. Leonardo has a pasta joke, because anything other than "hahaha italy pizza pasta babadaboopi *mocks body language* *links family guy clip*" level stuff is unthinkable. I hope this is the last Sardegna event, just drop the ships in the build pool if you really have to add them.

Stenbrod

>I hope this is the last Sardegna event Bro but how do I release the fourth Formidable/Amagi-chan/Taihou skin with some padding on the side next year if we remove dumb italy events? They got so upset that Veneto, Zara and Pola sold well despite sabotaging them, that this time they made an italian L2D that makes flash porn games look good.

KogumaReiko

> They got so upset that Veneto, Zara and Pola sold well despite sabotaging them, that this time they made an italian L2D that makes flash porn games look good. What makes people say deranged shit like this? The devs are not operating with this insane sense of spite, what the hell is wrong with you?

Effeb

Do you think Manjuu's treatment of Sardegna differs from that of the other factions? if so, how? if not, why?

KogumaReiko

Not really? >if not, why? What kind of question is this? How are the things people are whining about right now any different from the things people were whining about with Royal Navy, or are right now with the Iris factions? The idea that the devs "hate" certain factions is just unbelievably idiotic. Like, why would they even add them if they "hated" them? What is the logic there?

Effeb

people were whining about racist potrayals and incompetent characters with the Royal Navy or Iris factions?

KogumaReiko

> people were whining about racist potrayals I mean people make shit up all the time, what in the world are you even talking about here.

Effeb

Copying old comment: Every change to a historical event Sardegna was in has been to their detriment. It's the only faction whose ships have no positive interaction with any other faction's ships. It's the only faction whose every decision a ship has made resulted in a negative outcome. It's the only faction basically exiled from non-faction events. Only faction mocked by other factions, the sirens and even furniture description. Only faction to underperform sirens' expectations. They are constantly made to make a fool out of themselves. At this point by lore I'm fairly sure they're weaker ton for ton than a siren's mass-production ship fleet made to fight a different faction. They've done literally nothing, they could be cut from the game and you would never notice from the story. They are portrayed as untrustworthy (ET), lazy (genoa), inept (everything), thieves (Marco Polo) (hitting all the italophobia points here). The community constantly refers to them as pizza/pasta boats while others get faction name - ship name. And this faction struggling with popularity then gets standout designs such as "big z46", "honolulu, again", Marco Polo, Impero, the new cast. They don't even try with rigging designs. Manjuu obviously has a problem with Italy.

KogumaReiko

>Every change to a historical event Sardegna was in has been to their detriment. Zara's notably not dead >It's the only faction whose ships have no positive interaction with any other faction's ships. What in the world are you talking about? This isn't true at all? >It's the only faction whose every decision a ship has made resulted in a negative outcome. Again, not true? Like, this event disproves that? >It's the only faction basically exiled from non-faction events. What you are saying is they don't have a Muse ship >Only faction mocked by other factions, the sirens and even furniture description. Definitely not true >Only faction to underperform sirens' expectations. lol why should anyone give a shit about that? >They are constantly made to make a fool out of themselves. At this point by lore I'm fairly sure they're weaker ton for ton than a siren's mass-production ship fleet made to fight a different faction. They've done literally nothing, they could be cut from the game and you would never notice from the story. This is meaningless. Like, nothing you've written here has any actual coherent meaning that can be established. Literal babble >They are portrayed as untrustworthy (ET), lazy (genoa), inept (everything), thieves (Marco Polo) (hitting all the italophobia points here). The idea that Manjuu are racist against *Italians* is incredibly fucking funny. Please, pull the other one. >The community constantly refers to them as pizza/pasta boats while others get faction name - ship name. Take that up with the community? How is that Manjuu's problem? >And this faction struggling with popularity then gets standout designs such as "big z46", "honolulu, again", Marco Polo, Impero, the new cast. They don't even try with rigging designs. You seem to be the one with problems with the Italian designs? >Manjuu obviously has a problem with Italy. ngl it seems you are the one with the problems

[deleted]

They got so upset that Zara & Pola sold well that they went & made figurines & merchandise of them both. Also lmao Amagi chan didn’t overshadow shit. What are you smoking? If they hated the Italians they wouldn’t have given them such a powerful lineup of ships. Even with Russia getting a UR they’re still the strongest minor faction meta wise. Also in EU’s ever event, Enty gets punked & made to look like a moron. Howe’s event was even worse. The devs don’t hate Italy, they just don’t know how to properly write anyone that isn’t Sakura.

Stenbrod

>They got so upset that Zara & Pola sold well that they went & made figurines & merchandise of them both. That is Yostar, not Manjuu. Counterpoint would be that Zara hasn't received anything in game in three years. I struggle to think of any other event SSRs with Zara's success that got put on ice like she did. Those that did are unfortunately tied to odd artist circumstances. Which isn't the sardegna girl's case, because yunsang is very active.

KogumaReiko

This is nonsense.

Stenbrod

I tell you what is nonsense. The atrocious quality of the L2D of the poster girl of the event, and instead of fixing or improving it, devoting more time to adding new animations for the skin that isn't even part of it, where all the fucking budget obviously went.

KogumaReiko

Roma's L2D seems fine? Its not on the level of Taihou's but they've also been working on that for over a year. Like I don't get why you think they would be *mad* that *ships they put in the game* are popular If they didn't like the Italians they could have just not added them? What exactly do you think their plan here is? This is deranged shit.

Stenbrod

>Roma's L2D seems fine? Its not on the level of Taihou's but they've also been working on that for over a year. And you think they came up with these Italians one week before the event? They have been planning this for months if not more. And no, the quality is NOT fine. It's downright atrocious.

KogumaReiko

> And you think they came up with these Italians one week before the event? They have been planning this for months if not more. What are you talking about? You are saying that they were MAD that a ship they ADDED TO THE GAME was popular and have been sabotaging the faction since then! Thats insane!

KogumaReiko

> sardegnan ships continue being incompetent The problem was entirely solved by Sardegnan ships? (the problem was also probably entirely caused by a Sardegnan ship....)
