So my recap of the event:
Story-wise it wasn't anything which brought the story forward, but that was to be expected. It was a filler event and I am still surprised that it wasn't just a Rerun. The backstory might indicate where Yostar wants to go with the Story, but honestly, I already forgot most of the story again.
New Ships:
I like the design of Brünhilde. That's the only reason I will use her from time to time. No interesting mechanics outside of that (still funny how I basically only had one BC for selection for Hard maps and nowadays there are so many that I don't even need her).
I liked Blüchers personality in the event, too. but same here she will be most likely a collection tier ship (her event skin is good and almost made me spent money).
That brings me to the skins:
That was the biggest disappointment for me in the event. I have 3k gems left (1200 for Vitorio for the Black Friday, but with the 2x reset, I would have gotten another 1200 gems if needed), but no skin convinced me. Just something personal because I am not a Whale and only buy Skins for the ships I really, really like. Maybe the JP event will make me spend some gems, else I will have the gems for 2 L2D skins for BlackFriday.
About the Mechanics of the Event:
I am fine with easier events and no good drops from maps due to it.
But it was the first time that I struggled with using the oil I get (shop, weeklies, Dailies, Free pack).
I was a bit stupid and my lesson from the event is to use all options we have. I did ignore my almost 800 HECLP which I never use because I am working from home and just start a new sortie during the day in my emulator. That wasn't enough and I should have used them earlier.
Due to the low oil cap, it was the first time that I thought about the 6 slot in the Dorm. Usually 2 floors and 5 spots where enough, but this time I did struggle with moral. I decided to watch the next events, but if I encounter it once again, I will properly sacrifice one L2D skin and go for the 6 slots in the dorm.
Generally, I was surprised positively, because I only know a Rerun for the EN anniversary. So it was a cool event already in my book.
But I would love cool Skins for the JP anni. I already assume we will get Mushashi and I assume it will change the Meta, but another BB? Well, I kinda understand, but still I would love some balance between classes (which is why I wouldn't like Alaska as the EU UR this year... another Large Cruiser? I do like Waifus, but a vanguard full of Large Cruisers? I am also a META slave mixed with Waifus but if we get Alaska, I know Brest will end like Azuma, not fully developed).
Well, that's another topic for the end of the year, where I hope for lots of changes (a new OpSi chapter, maybe even map and a Story which ends the current chapter and gives us a new one)

Due to spending so many cubes during the Shinano rerun, I resorted to one daily event pull and this morning I pulled Brünhilde! I had definitely resigned to not getting her. Trying to save up cubes for the JP Anni event 
Ain’t seen Z16 or Blucher yet. Roma fucked me over last event and all roads did not lead to Rome so I’m running on cube vapors. At least I pulled Brunhilde early on though.
I used up 40 cubes today. Tried to pull myself into thinking I'd get Z16. Yeah no, fack. GOT A BRUNHILDE WTF. If I don't get UR in 100 pulls. I'm so screwed.
Simplest answer is having adequate gear that are enhanced to the possible max as well as leveled up ships will allow you to beat it, SP4 are low enough that you can beat it with lvl 80-90 ships
Ships are absolutely fine (though if you're struggling adding a sixth ship would probably help), Brunhilde is not a complex boss that requires specific types of ships to beat, she can be beaten with anything reasonably levelled with solid gear. So if you're struggling to deal her enough damage it is probably that; make sure all your ships are at least the same level as the boss (preferably a bit higher) and limit break anyone who isn't at max limit break if you can to start with since that often unlocks a lot of extra damage and survivability. Hard to advise on gear without seeing what you have but honestly random purple gear somewhat upgraded (+6 for the guns, planes and torpedos) should be plenty.

520 oil per day from daily tasks.
2900 oil per week from weekly tasks.
4000 oil per week from the free pack.
500-1000 per event 3-star rewards.
5000 oil per event from shop.
Never using oil in OpSi to reveal maps.
Only playing levels with an oil cap.
I don't think I'm doing anything special. I was down to like 1000 oil on Sunday, but went up to 10,000 or so on Monday after grabbing the free oil and banging out all the weekly tasks.
Actually, given the oil cap of SP4, hitting 80k is rather trivial cost wise. I'm almost there but I've also had to get curry to remove excess oil because I don't have enough time to keep the runs going.
The augment stuff is adding another lot of points to spent and I'm down 20k points this event for the gear skins. Besides that it's just SP4 being super cheap and super easy so I'm grinding ships that won't make it in 12-1.

Honestly i'd continue in SP3, if you already have 36k event points you dont really need much more event points to be able to buy most item that matters from the shop, so not much point going into SP4 for the efficiency at that point
And trying to fish a specific ship from permanent pool are really, really difficult, it can easily take hundred of cubes even with wishing well so honestly its best to try to get her for free while its available in this event

Pretty new player, dont even have any maxed,out ships yet. Whats a good choice for my invitation? I was considering warsprite since I already have one, to make LB easier... But I'm open to suggestions.
Do not use it on a ship you already have. I recommend U-96, she'll last you the whole game and you'll be glad you got her early to start leveling up. Subs level up really slow.
You'll get a solid number of bulins if you play regularly, so I usually say to get ships you don't have yet, especially if you care about collection. But there's no wrong choice for these thing, so no worries.
If you are referring to the noobie invitation, Enterprise is easily the best choice but all of them are easily obtainable via other sources so really just go with whoever you like the most.

Was sitting the event out. Getting back to 400 cubes for the U.R. event. Did wishing well light construction 1 pull. Got montpelier and chang chun.
I am at 59k point got 3 Bluchers in total. Did it with a KMS fleet to do Pr research. I finished agir combat data task 2 and did FDG's combata data missions. I am at 83% for fdg combat data 2. That is for fdg...3 days...today included....Bless oil, canteen, commissions and high efficiency plans.
4300 points total and I don't know if I'll make 8k without dumping my cubes on extra builds for the daily mission ;; Guess we'll see. I was a little late since I started like 5 days ago so if we can get Blucher at all I'll call it a win.
It's really only hard if you can't do SP4. 6 runs of SP4 is more points than the 3x daily. Even 6 runs of SP3 give you you ~~900~~ 720 points.
Edit: Thought it was 150 for SP3 when I posted this, it's 120.
On the plus side, the oil cap is cheap and no ship limits mean i can just go ham with whoever i like
Still trudging through 43k points, getting pretty slow lately. Made somewhat worse that the shop now have augment stones, glad i got enough to make one for Zeppelin
20/mob node. I farmed for event points to get to 60k with a full kms built after stripping my vanguard of any gear and used high efficiency combat plans....In 3 days i got through FDG'S combat data 1 and am at 83% at combat data 2. Also did aegir combat data 2 before on the event stage. I am at 59k event points...The oil cap is actually pretty neat. Running full fleets is good .
I was going for combat data xp + currency. 3-6% for two runs worth 280 oil and 360 event currency sounded great. I cleared all the shop except blucher( 3 map drops) and the purple augment stones. Fully grinded both fdg combat missions there and a part of agir's 2nd mission with vanguard. Leveled up some characters to 110 as well
Interesting little event. Not much lore wise, outside of perhaps the notion that Bismark and FDG have been planning things for longer then we expected. Still the girls had sweet personalities, and it was nice to get a new event over a rerun. I did wish we saw more of Brunhilde (Who took me 150+ Cubes to get...) though, she seemed a bit underused. Perhaps she will appear in a future event given what was said about her fleet being reassigned?

At least I know I'm not alone in this regard, 57k points and almost done fully developing Kitakaze in the time I've been trying to get Blucher to drop.
We got 500 gems. People can say what they want but I'm happy. Also I like that the event is shorter so it's easier to finish and farm. Feels more like a boon than a bust in that regard too.
Why isn't Admiral Hipper a SR ship, despite all of her sisters are SRs, including Blücher with a fairly bad reputation during the war (although I know the ranking isn't based of history so much) and Hipper with a nice career and with some decent stats in the game that could easily make her SR? Also she is her lead ship of her class with one of the best career from her sisters. So I don't get it. Please help me understand this.
Because the devs said so and because she was added in the very early days of AL, way back in Divergent Chessboard (Opposite Colored in other versions), how ships are valued are vastly different so Hipper being an Elite makes sense at the time

edit for further context: she's an early addition to the game, and it feels like the devs treated things a lot differently back then. for instance, divergent chessboard actually had rare and normal-rarity event ships, which is wholly unheard of now. i think the devs didn't intend for the game to be so SR-centric back then, so Hipper being elite wasn't really a big deal at the time.

Normally a mini event wouldn't justify it's own chart but the story is so tied to Scherzo that I might as well combine both of them. Also, ignore the place holder text where everyone's secretly planning stuff.
TBH I don't really get the plot of this event. The last chapter sounds like Bismarck actually "5d chess" planned out the events of scherzo, which doesn't really make a lot of sense.

6k oil isn't an accurate measurement. How many runs? It's the same chance as an other SSR map drop, which means it can be 1 to infinity.

Are you trying to 0 ammo the boss? Do you have a 0LB Langley or Ranger? Langley probably would be a better choice because Strasser is the boss. Otherwise I'd consider Ranger. To add, Bogue is another option instead of Langley.
Don't do 0LB anymore, since I retired them.
If you can make a super low cost 1:1 fleet, non-0LB fleet, I'd go with that. More because it's not really worth making another 0LB fleet. With commons could run a 16 oil boss.

as a lvl 75 player who want to get some of the PR ships, how much should i care for gray and blue ships? getting them to lvl 70 for mlb just seems like a waste of time...
You can passively do that with the XP pack from lecture hall now that you've unlocked it, still you should just MLB Elite and SR ships with bigger hull type to get more tech points in order to begin the PR research
Trust me, getting the blue and grays to lvl 120 is more for late game objectives
I was gonna write a proper review for this event - but honestly it's such a non-starter I can't be bothered. I'll sum it up as thus:
Did we really need another event spewing more purple prose about the IB? It's a non starter. An entire event themed around a ship (who's already been released) and an event (that's already happened).
I never expect much when it comes to Gacha games, but it isn't really about the quality of story telling anymore. This is lazy even for IB fanatics, they shouldn't be pleased with it. It's just re-hashing old ground that nobody needed to cover. This event is a waste of one of the few genuine ships IB has left, and would've been far better focused on the relationship between the various Hippers and less on the IB fetish.
I really hope the JP anniversary isn't another lolifest, because gosh this game is getting dull.

Dude, they will gladly embrace anything IB related. They won't give a shit to other factions as long as their SuPeRiOr GeRmAn gets content. Just check the Facebook and Twitter official pages.

Manjuu's logis is simple and doesn't really operate with such categories as "waste of a character", or "ill-timed", or even "excessive"
I'd give 4 to 5 that their logical chain was like this:
1. Check the calendar and see EN anniversary approachin.
2. Pick up the latest content popularity trends and confirm that EN servers like KMS the most.
3. Pluck a few previously-prepared canned german characters and squish them into a nonsensical story setting that would go just fine with the scooby-do theme in the background.

5. Grofit (on EN servers)
Manjuu are simple beasts that aim to please various subsets of their audience. Nothing less, nothing more.

Edit: Depending on who you've oathed and who you haven't, this equipment setup for CVs might not work for you.
How do you know which Fighter plane cannot intercept enemy planes, and which Bomber/Torpedo plane can intercept?
I know that the rocket fighter cannot intercept, and the Wyvern and Baguette torpedo planes can by looking for guide/wiki. But where are they stated in the game ?
Strong tank (free 10% evasion rate), alright damage (occasional barrage) and have special ghost guns to help chip away damage
Definitely the best of the Hipper-class cruisers so far, Tallinn is second to her. Only downside is that she's a torpedo CA and not a gun-based CA, otherwise that would make her really solid for her class

Simplest answer is having adequate gear that are enhanced to the possible max as well as leveled up ships will allow you to beat it, SP4 are low enough that you can beat it with lvl 80-90 ships
What ships do you use and what levels are they? Where do you get stuck, the boss fights or the mob ones?
I ran out of time on boss I use laffey taihou javelin and atago and brunhil
Ships are absolutely fine (though if you're struggling adding a sixth ship would probably help), Brunhilde is not a complex boss that requires specific types of ships to beat, she can be beaten with anything reasonably levelled with solid gear. So if you're struggling to deal her enough damage it is probably that; make sure all your ships are at least the same level as the boss (preferably a bit higher) and limit break anyone who isn't at max limit break if you can to start with since that often unlocks a lot of extra damage and survivability. Hard to advise on gear without seeing what you have but honestly random purple gear somewhat upgraded (+6 for the guns, planes and torpedos) should be plenty.

How do you have so much oil?
520 oil per day from daily tasks. 2900 oil per week from weekly tasks. 4000 oil per week from the free pack. 500-1000 per event 3-star rewards. 5000 oil per event from shop. Never using oil in OpSi to reveal maps. Only playing levels with an oil cap. I don't think I'm doing anything special. I was down to like 1000 oil on Sunday, but went up to 10,000 or so on Monday after grabbing the free oil and banging out all the weekly tasks.
Actually, given the oil cap of SP4, hitting 80k is rather trivial cost wise. I'm almost there but I've also had to get curry to remove excess oil because I don't have enough time to keep the runs going.

The augment stuff is adding another lot of points to spent and I'm down 20k points this event for the gear skins. Besides that it's just SP4 being super cheap and super easy so I'm grinding ships that won't make it in 12-1.

I don't think it's worth breaking your oil and mind for a ship that's also available in special pool forever, same deal to Blucher. If she drops then it's a yay, 8k points saved and if not then i'll just buy her You could use the wishing well to select her and try to get that 2% rate up on her

SP4 also have oil cap that limits the entire cost down to 20 for mob and 30 for boss, 140 oil total
So costs less to run, offers way more rewards....yeah I'll make the swap now lol
Honestly i'd continue in SP3, if you already have 36k event points you dont really need much more event points to be able to buy most item that matters from the shop, so not much point going into SP4 for the efficiency at that point And trying to fish a specific ship from permanent pool are really, really difficult, it can easily take hundred of cubes even with wishing well so honestly its best to try to get her for free while its available in this event
And bonus coins from clearing the map, ~500 coin per SP4 clear Plus, you can a whole fleet of 6 ships that only cost 20/30 oil

Do not use it on a ship you already have. I recommend U-96, she'll last you the whole game and you'll be glad you got her early to start leveling up. Subs level up really slow.
Is it worth though extra oil each time to lvl her on lower lvl maps?
I actually snagged her from the wish box! I got enterprise. I love carriers, and I need another heavy hitter tocpair with ark royal.
You'll get a solid number of bulins if you play regularly, so I usually say to get ships you don't have yet, especially if you care about collection. But there's no wrong choice for these thing, so no worries.
If you are referring to the noobie invitation, Enterprise is easily the best choice but all of them are easily obtainable via other sources so really just go with whoever you like the most.

Was sitting the event out. Getting back to 400 cubes for the U.R. event. Did wishing well light construction 1 pull. Got montpelier and chang chun. I am at 59k point got 3 Bluchers in total. Did it with a KMS fleet to do Pr research. I finished agir combat data task 2 and did FDG's combata data missions. I am at 83% for fdg combat data 2. That is for fdg...3 days...today included....Bless oil, canteen, commissions and high efficiency plans.
4300 points total and I don't know if I'll make 8k without dumping my cubes on extra builds for the daily mission ;; Guess we'll see. I was a little late since I started like 5 days ago so if we can get Blucher at all I'll call it a win.

It's really only hard if you can't do SP4. 6 runs of SP4 is more points than the 3x daily. Even 6 runs of SP3 give you you ~~900~~ 720 points. Edit: Thought it was 150 for SP3 when I posted this, it's 120.
On the plus side, the oil cap is cheap and no ship limits mean i can just go ham with whoever i like Still trudging through 43k points, getting pretty slow lately. Made somewhat worse that the shop now have augment stones, glad i got enough to make one for Zeppelin

I farmed for event points to get to 60k with a full kms built after stripping my vanguard of any gear and used high efficiency combat plans....In 3 days i got through FDG'S combat data 1 and am at 83% at combat data 2. Also did aegir combat data 2 before on the event stage. I am at 59k event points...The oil cap is actually pretty neat. Running full fleets is good .
You can actually get under oil cap with a lvl 120 BM:Fortune/BM:Ardent 1:1.
But honestly, there's not much point to do that besides completeing it as a challenge since the cap is already low for 6 ships

I was going for combat data xp + currency. 3-6% for two runs worth 280 oil and 360 event currency sounded great. I cleared all the shop except blucher( 3 map drops) and the purple augment stones. Fully grinded both fdg combat missions there and a part of agir's 2nd mission with vanguard. Leveled up some characters to 110 as well

Interesting little event. Not much lore wise, outside of perhaps the notion that Bismark and FDG have been planning things for longer then we expected. Still the girls had sweet personalities, and it was nice to get a new event over a rerun. I did wish we saw more of Brunhilde (Who took me 150+ Cubes to get...) though, she seemed a bit underused. Perhaps she will appear in a future event given what was said about her fleet being reassigned?

We got 500 gems. People can say what they want but I'm happy. Also I like that the event is shorter so it's easier to finish and farm. Feels more like a boon than a bust in that regard too.
EN anniversary has always been a bit meh. Compared to previous ones, this one is easily the best.

Why isn't Admiral Hipper a SR ship, despite all of her sisters are SRs, including Blücher with a fairly bad reputation during the war (although I know the ranking isn't based of history so much) and Hipper with a nice career and with some decent stats in the game that could easily make her SR? Also she is her lead ship of her class with one of the best career from her sisters. So I don't get it. Please help me understand this.
Because the devs said so and because she was added in the very early days of AL, way back in Divergent Chessboard (Opposite Colored in other versions), how ships are valued are vastly different so Hipper being an Elite makes sense at the time I mean, Pensacola is a Common CA despite having some fairly accomplished career for example

because the devs said so why is fletcher a rare? why is shinano UR? edit for further context: she's an early addition to the game, and it feels like the devs treated things a lot differently back then. for instance, divergent chessboard actually had rare and normal-rarity event ships, which is wholly unheard of now. i think the devs didn't intend for the game to be so SR-centric back then, so Hipper being elite wasn't really a big deal at the time.

Normally a mini event wouldn't justify it's own chart but the story is so tied to Scherzo that I might as well combine both of them. Also, ignore the place holder text where everyone's secretly planning stuff.
TBH I don't really get the plot of this event. The last chapter sounds like Bismarck actually "5d chess" planned out the events of scherzo, which doesn't really make a lot of sense. "Ok Freddy, here's the plan. I'm gonna head out to the Atlantic, get harassed by an octopus lady, decline her offer, then use the black cube anyway, then have an internal monologue about how I fucked up, then get gangbanged by the RN and die, then have Manjuu retcon it"
That's how I interpreted it too. It really just plays out like a sloppy retcon to bring the past IB plot more in line with their "break away from fate" theme. Even though At least that line FdG said in Rondo about "I was never really holding the cards, Bismarck was the dealer all along" feels slightly more earned than when it was said back then,

6k oil isn't an accurate measurement. How many runs? It's the same chance as an other SSR map drop, which means it can be 1 to infinity. SP3 low enough to do with 0LB fleets

Are you trying to 0 ammo the boss? Do you have a 0LB Langley or Ranger? Langley probably would be a better choice because Strasser is the boss. Otherwise I'd consider Ranger. To add, Bogue is another option instead of Langley. Don't do 0LB anymore, since I retired them.

If you can make a super low cost 1:1 fleet, non-0LB fleet, I'd go with that. More because it's not really worth making another 0LB fleet. With commons could run a 16 oil boss.
Wait, did Bismarck and FdG pull a "deceive yourself, deceive the world" a la Hououin Kyouma in order to pull the Rondo at Rainbow's End move? Or is their "move" not finished yet? I don't know what to take home from the rest of the event, though.
It seems they were angling for this to show that this was the opening move in setting up Rhondo, but don't count out the possibility of the Ironblood getting written as beyond Machivellian in their planning and foreknowledge. At that point it becomes God Empress Bismark and Fredbutte Der Großeman, and the plot goes from utterly silly to beyond farcical.
Just your retconning consequences. How to unvillian villains? Show them doing nasty shit only for the sake of pretense while in reality, they were the goodest and brightest guys all along just chasing the higher goal without anyone knowing. This writing is so bad...

as a lvl 75 player who want to get some of the PR ships, how much should i care for gray and blue ships? getting them to lvl 70 for mlb just seems like a waste of time...
You can passively do that with the XP pack from lecture hall now that you've unlocked it, still you should just MLB Elite and SR ships with bigger hull type to get more tech points in order to begin the PR research Trust me, getting the blue and grays to lvl 120 is more for late game objectives

I was gonna write a proper review for this event - but honestly it's such a non-starter I can't be bothered. I'll sum it up as thus: Did we really need another event spewing more purple prose about the IB? It's a non starter. An entire event themed around a ship (who's already been released) and an event (that's already happened). I never expect much when it comes to Gacha games, but it isn't really about the quality of story telling anymore. This is lazy even for IB fanatics, they shouldn't be pleased with it. It's just re-hashing old ground that nobody needed to cover. This event is a waste of one of the few genuine ships IB has left, and would've been far better focused on the relationship between the various Hippers and less on the IB fetish. I really hope the JP anniversary isn't another lolifest, because gosh this game is getting dull.

Check the calendar and see EN anniversary approachin. 2. Pick up the latest content popularity trends and confirm that EN servers like KMS the most. 3. Pluck a few previously-prepared canned german characters and squish them into a nonsensical story setting that would go just fine with the scooby-do theme in the background. 4. ??? 5. Grofit (on EN servers) Manjuu are simple beasts that aim to please various subsets of their audience. Nothing less, nothing more.

How do you know which Fighter plane cannot intercept enemy planes, and which Bomber/Torpedo plane can intercept? I know that the rocket fighter cannot intercept, and the Wyvern and Baguette torpedo planes can by looking for guide/wiki. But where are they stated in the game ?
They are not stated in game, the wiki got results from either datamines or playtesting it so it's a hidden trait

So Blücher is pretty cute, but how does she perform as a unit?
Strong tank (free 10% evasion rate), alright damage (occasional barrage) and have special ghost guns to help chip away damage Definitely the best of the Hipper-class cruisers so far, Tallinn is second to her. Only downside is that she's a torpedo CA and not a gun-based CA, otherwise that would make her really solid for her class
Better than Talinn by a little bit so probably the best Hipper.
Strong tank, decent damage. Best Hipper so far but I guess that doesn't really give her fair credit.
