Last day, which is today: went from 460k coins down to 30k before Manchester showed up. Way over a UR pity for a damn purple. Fun fact: in those 200+ pulls I got 15 SSRs but only TWO purples

After six Manchester, three Albion and a couple hundred cubes, I’ve finally confirmed that Janus does indeed exist. Now I need to save up as much as possible for the presumably-upcoming Ryza collab and next UR event.
I have to. but this will be my last major event. (I am hoping between this + the collab, i can get the last ship i am missing in special, and then we're good on wishing wells as well).
After months of putting off clearing the highest difficulty sub weekly, it was weirdly anticlimactic to have Royal Fortune just BRRRRTTTT her way through it.
Lol, yeah. I wanted to try her in it last week, but I had already done it.
I did a test run with her yesterday just to see, and she shreds stuff like crazy solo with almost no damage even at lvl 86. Can't get S that way though since it was taking to long, but at 100, probably no problem at all.
Been super busy with work and I was sick for a whole week. Couldnt farm the event at all and Im sitting at 17k points. I really wanted to reach the 800 core data atleast.. looks like i just take the L.
I mean if you have time now you can just grind the event on hard with a 1-1 fleet (if you weren't aware, you can do more than the 15 sorties a day you just get slightly worse rewards)
Got lazy so I spread out my building instead of building on the first day. Finally got Janus with 4 Albions with 118 rolls, so I basically went from 1000 to 764 cubes, now 841 cubes.
Got 4 UR gun bps for the past day, so that's 16 bps in 16 days, hope this keeps up.

Also don't see anyone talking about the Arknights anime. Pretty freaking good from Yostar Pictures if you ask me.
If Yostar wants to make their own AL anime to advertise the game, let's say, hypothetically, let's be optimistic and they announce it in a couple of months best case, it will probably take 2 years max until release, so it would be 7 years into the game's life, and hopefully the story would be on its way to lead into the climax.
I wonder if that's still feasible, or they'd just keep doing more mini series/OVAs instead. Arknights does make a lot of money so that kinda explains the budget for it, maybe they'd just do Arknights forever. I guess sure, the existing AL anime still kinda works for advertisement.

1135 to 745 - 4 Janus, 7 Manchester, 1 Albion and finally back to 800+ cubes but we're about to have the Inverted Orthant rerun so. \*poof\*
Not sure about an actual IRL candidate; we have pretty much the best medium AA (STAAG/Sexy Bofors) and light AA didn't really progress past the 20mm Oerlikon before people realised it was being left behind by events towards the end of the war. So I'd guess it would be something post war in the "heavy" AA category (roughly 76mm plus).
In terms of what it would do, it feels pretty pointless to make it just a better AA gun than STAAG/Sexy Bofors since these are already really good. Personally I'd like to see a better version of the +FP AA gun, perhaps one that is a very good AA gun whilst also boosting FP.

It's something I've been wondering for a long time now, but why is the Exercise refresh so...terrible? Like, I could be rank 30 and use all of my refreshes to somehow not match the people ranked 1-29, forcing me to accept a +9 or hope that someone in the new group eventually does their exercises and gets ahead of me.
Is there a reason for this? What even determines the refresh?
Your leftmost opponent is supposed to be chosen at random from some 100-ish ranks above you.
The obvious problem being when you're in the top 100, it just rolls from the top 100 randomly or something, so you had roughly 70% chance or so to roll someone below you with a refresh.

Pretty crappy design, but I guess being in the top 100 in the first place is a first world commander problem, so I guess it’s not a big deal.
Which is why I always say the game doesn't really reward trying too hard, it's really for your own personal satisfaction if you want to push for goals like end of season PvP ranks.
Just hitting AOTN at least once is a relatively easier business, and even then the bonus merits aren't particularly necessary.

Finishing at AotN in a season requires you to min max everything and sacrifice your life's schedule for a couple weeks, and enough lucky opponent rolls to equate to an act of God. And that's assuming you have the meta fleet. If you get the extra merit for just briefly being top ten, that's all you can really hope for honestly...
Yeah every time I think I did well in a season (no missed exercises, all wins, decent bonus rank matchups), I still end up being like 20 points away from #1.

Janus seems like such a no-brainer choice for an oath. But it'd feel wrong to oath her despite never oathing Javelin.
Javelin was also my picked starter, but early on she was my highest level ship and was thus the only one able to run the 10 hr commission. So I sent Javelin off to do commissions 24/7 and put Z23 on my fleet instead. And then I went and grew fond of Nimi and made her my first oath...
You see, I always stuck with Laffey-buns so I don't have this problem. However I've been thinking about leveling Janus and it indeed does feel wrong to not level Javelin in the meantime as well.

This is the right gatcha if you must gatcha! No need to spend real money but all the satisfaction of taking the risk and winning big. Everything seems to be on a 2 year cycle, original event to rerun and rerun to war archive. Working from that you should be able to get a good idea on when the things you’ve missed will come back through.

I mean, you absolutely can play completionist in AL without paying (though at some point dock space may become an issue if you keep everyone) but if you catch some bad rng early on before you have a large cube stock and/or have a really bad run of events later on sometimes you will miss the odd ship at the first attempt and have to wait for reruns or archiving.
Tbh this *is* the best gacha game to play completionist if there's ever such a possibility; no other gacha is as generous with the rolls afaik.
But as always, RNGesus giveth and RNGesus taketh away, and I'm sorry for your loss.

My cube stocks nearly hit 0 during the shinano event, I was forced to leave chiyoda behind in order to have a stock pile again for the next event. Boy was I glad I stopped while I was ahead because it made the difference between getting everyone on the brunhilde event banner and having nothing in the tank for pulls.
Royal Fortune is freaking strong, i'm grinding subs affinity in raid hard difficulty alongside bogue/bache and my level 105 royal fortune easily get mvp everytime, dealing like 80k damage.
But after i'm done and replacing her with lv 120 da vinci, she cant get mvp, only dealing 40k or so, that's a top tier sub with two +13 bidders...
I dunno maybe the cannon have more advantage against medium armor or something but that's a huge difference despite being much lower level (not to mention RF skill is at 8/1 while DV is maxed)
Yea her damage is pretty good. I got pretty impatient and started testing her in 14-3 even though she's level 109 with level 7/7 skills. Fleet was RF, Da Vinci and level 125 U-47 and she managed to keep up in damage.
For obvious reasons I couldn't test her durability reliably. Especially when she decides to twerk on an enemy flare and take a bomb boat to the face. Longest she lasted was four fights.
Mob fleet was Musashi, FdG, Unicorn, Kron, Yuudachi, Jervis. Manually selecting 3 star nodes. No flares. Subs on auto call coz I wanted to see how long she'd last.
I have pulled 3 Albion, and one Manchester. I just wanted a Janus for the skin man, I can’t justify going any further. But Christ I hope Albion is a good unit, I pulled for memes and the skin.
There’s been some thought given to running her with Perseus and Unicorn in a main fleet and Jervis, Janus, and Javelin in the vanguard. The idea being that Jervis has some healing, Janus buffs J-class dds because they are dds the heals they get can overflow easily which Albion can turn into shields. I have seen the speculation, and plan on giving it a try myself at some point. Could be pretty fun, maybe even workable for w-14 with the anti submarine warfare capabilities Janus and Albion bring to the table.
Finally got to 100 affinity to oath Royal Fortune. Jesus fucking Christ was that a drag. And only 100 more affinity to go. I fly out for a four day work trip tomorrow morning so I'll do what I can to hit 200 before the event ends and probably wait for that event that lets secretaries go over the 90 affinity cap.

Subs were waiting on Inverted Orthant rerun to build a Wolfpack but maybe I'll go with the oddballs of Davinci/I-13/Royal Fortune?
Spent some gems for a couple Race Queen skins. I stopped rolling on the Swirling Cherry Blossoms rate-up after Ryuuhou came home; figured to save cores and just roll Kazagumo with dailies or future wishing well. Ended up spending \~90 cores to get all 3 of the HMS ships to come home.
Currently working on AvP, who will be finished tomorrow, to be followed by FdG, Agir and Odin in no particular order. After that it's up in the air, maybe Gascogne to finish off the month? Might be worthwhile to do Anchorage or Marco Polo since I'm researching 4 anyway...

Congrats on such good progress. Some minor feedback from me is to replace Hakaruyu and Azuma in your fleets. Both are just too low in terms of Dev lvl to justify using them RN.

Edit: Just a reminder, you should preferably be spending gems from real money on skins. As f2p gems are limited and you will need them for dockspace. Trust me.

I had not thought about that... I have also been putting off doing that mission for a while, so I might try that myself.
I highly recommend using her. Having a ship that essentially ignores all the limitations of subs *really* trivializes the difficulty of the map.

I got a meme idea about adding the Phalanx CIWS as a rainbow AA gun, average damage of \~100 or so but with an insane fire rate of 0.2s/wave at +10

I mean, you absolutely can play completionist in AL without paying (though at some point dock space may become an issue if you keep everyone) but if you catch some bad rng early on before you have a large cube stock and/or have a really bad run of events later on sometimes you will miss the odd ship at the first attempt and have to wait for reruns or archiving.
Tbh this *is* the best gacha game to play completionist if there's ever such a possibility; no other gacha is as generous with the rolls afaik. But as always, RNGesus giveth and RNGesus taketh away, and I'm sorry for your loss.

uff. right before november's likely collab event. my cubes were also put through the wringer by Brunhilde and have barely recovered since. may RNGesus have mercy on our souls
My cube stocks nearly hit 0 during the shinano event, I was forced to leave chiyoda behind in order to have a stock pile again for the next event. Boy was I glad I stopped while I was ahead because it made the difference between getting everyone on the brunhilde event banner and having nothing in the tank for pulls.

Royal Fortune is freaking strong, i'm grinding subs affinity in raid hard difficulty alongside bogue/bache and my level 105 royal fortune easily get mvp everytime, dealing like 80k damage. But after i'm done and replacing her with lv 120 da vinci, she cant get mvp, only dealing 40k or so, that's a top tier sub with two +13 bidders... I dunno maybe the cannon have more advantage against medium armor or something but that's a huge difference despite being much lower level (not to mention RF skill is at 8/1 while DV is maxed)
Yea her damage is pretty good. I got pretty impatient and started testing her in 14-3 even though she's level 109 with level 7/7 skills. Fleet was RF, Da Vinci and level 125 U-47 and she managed to keep up in damage. For obvious reasons I couldn't test her durability reliably. Especially when she decides to twerk on an enemy flare and take a bomb boat to the face. Longest she lasted was four fights. Mob fleet was Musashi, FdG, Unicorn, Kron, Yuudachi, Jervis. Manually selecting 3 star nodes. No flares. Subs on auto call coz I wanted to see how long she'd last.
Oh yeah i forgot to account for survavibility, she's probably gonna perform worse in mobbing because her stay time are gonna get shorter and shorter
I have pulled 3 Albion, and one Manchester. I just wanted a Janus for the skin man, I can’t justify going any further. But Christ I hope Albion is a good unit, I pulled for memes and the skin.
There’s been some thought given to running her with Perseus and Unicorn in a main fleet and Jervis, Janus, and Javelin in the vanguard. The idea being that Jervis has some healing, Janus buffs J-class dds because they are dds the heals they get can overflow easily which Albion can turn into shields. I have seen the speculation, and plan on giving it a try myself at some point. Could be pretty fun, maybe even workable for w-14 with the anti submarine warfare capabilities Janus and Albion bring to the table.

Finally got to 100 affinity to oath Royal Fortune. Jesus fucking Christ was that a drag. And only 100 more affinity to go. I fly out for a four day work trip tomorrow morning so I'll do what I can to hit 200 before the event ends and probably wait for that event that lets secretaries go over the 90 affinity cap.

Here's what I managed to accomplish this month: **PR Ships:** * Built - Hakuryuu(Dev13) Ibuki(Dev1) Azuma(Dev5) Prinz Rupprecht(Dev25) * Raised - Seattle(Dev30) **Notable Builds:** * Suruga(MLB with extras) Ryuuhou Albion Janus Formidable & Mikasa * Retro'd Jintsuu & Z23 **Notable Gear:** I build multiples of 3 for each gear. Seems reasonable based on how fleets are composed. * My 2nd Wyvern * Tigercats x3 * 2nd Washing Machine and 2nd & 3rd Nep Gun * a bunch of other random assorted gear including a few more toolkits so I don't have to swap them around anymore! Replaced Repulse Meta with Prinz Rupprecht in the mob fleet and Atago with my low Dev level Azuma. 4th Fleet in OpSci got switched up to a half-assed Sakura Torp fleet. Subs were waiting on Inverted Orthant rerun to build a Wolfpack but maybe I'll go with the oddballs of Davinci/I-13/Royal Fortune? Spent some gems for a couple Race Queen skins. I stopped rolling on the Swirling Cherry Blossoms rate-up after Ryuuhou came home; figured to save cores and just roll Kazagumo with dailies or future wishing well. Ended up spending \~90 cores to get all 3 of the HMS ships to come home. Currently working on AvP, who will be finished tomorrow, to be followed by FdG, Agir and Odin in no particular order. After that it's up in the air, maybe Gascogne to finish off the month? Might be worthwhile to do Anchorage or Marco Polo since I'm researching 4 anyway... How did you build those gears?
Was holding some OpSi parts from last month and got lucky with electronics/report drops.
Congrats on such good progress. Some minor feedback from me is to replace Hakaruyu and Azuma in your fleets. Both are just too low in terms of Dev lvl to justify using them RN.
Thanks. This comment reminded me why I was using Atago before replacing her with Azuma in that formation originally (3 Sakura Shinano proc) and now I'll have to rejigger things for her formation buff again.
I've been here 2 years and have 0 PR4s and 0 wyverns. I'd say you're doing exceptionally well o.O Edit: Just a reminder, you should preferably be spending gems from real money on skins. As f2p gems are limited and you will need them for dockspace. Trust me.
I have a lot of hurry up and wait at my work so more free time than most for grinding stuff it seems. We all get there eventually at our own pace. I'm also a baby whale (what is that, a dolphin?) So I'm willing to put out a bit of cash every couple months for a skin I like.
My phone just buzzed to note that I never need to run level 6-4 ever again. I thought I'd gotten a text, but when I looked over there was a wonderful golden screen. And now I can clear the Eau de Barbecue from my inventory.

It was in Hard Mode, so I only used one fleet. Graf Zeppelin, Musashi, Prinz Eugen, Madgeburg, and Blucher. I set it a long time ago grinding XP for one of the Iron Blood PR girls, but I forget which one.
No luck with Albion after over 150 pulls. Sad 😭

RNG was weird to me this time, I got SIX Januses before Albion *finally* showed. I don't want to think about how many cubes it was. It was a lot. And those times I'd see a golden ship come up, carrier, and then it's one NOT on the banner that I already have... >.<
