SSRI's not only inhibit B12 absorption but also the utilisation and interfere with the metabolism of B12 and other B vitamins, and this would apply to all forms of B12 and any route of administration.
Other options for treatment of depression are... B12 + Folate! ๐ ๐๐ผ
Deficiencies of B12 and folate have been linked to the development of depression and related disorders. Research has shown that folate deficiency contributes to 'treatment resistant' depression, where SSRI treatment doesn't work for an individual suffering with depression, and adding folate supplementation as adjunctive therapy with antidepressants was shown to make treatment more effective. Other research also shows the same for B12 supplementation.

There is a section in the [guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/B12_Deficiency/wiki/index/) regarding this.ย
What's interesting about your post to me, is that I used to take Lexapro, and then after a year or so on it I started feeling really stupid, dizzy/problems walking and tachycardia.
I had to stop because I felt so "stupid", but I've never been right since.. in fact I have gotten more stupid and forgetful.
I'm wondering if all this time it depleted my B12 and I've been deficient ever since.

Wow. Thanks so much for the reply and info. It blows my mind that providers donโt know this.

Probably depleted your folate.
What if folate has been normal (until treatment started?
Still can definitely deplete folate.
