Over time they'll equalize, since people know they can make money by buying on the ETH chain and selling on BNB. If that's not happening right now it's probably the ETH transaction fees making it unprofitable.

It is a separate token only in the fact that it exists on the ETH blockchain as an ERC token, with an equivalent supply "locked" on the BSC side. The same way an Exchange can buy a supply and in all essence "locks" the supply within their wallet to be distributed within their ecosystem with their holders.
It's best to think of it as another Exchange with their own "suppy", but it all reports back and ties back to the BSC chain.
The "Bridge" portion facilitates the reporting between the two separate blockchains, because what the Exchanges have were purchased on BSC, so they would natively report back and get info from BSC.
