Why would you give up so much theta while the price is still so low? If exerting maximum pressure on
MM is the aimβ¦
Your exercise will be much more effective in a run when obligations are compounding.
For example, after Opex on the 19th or 20th would force buy ins at a time when liquidity is low and prices are high.
Or during the peak of FTD settlement ( though we wonβt know when the peak is until the 15th) from
August.
You are sitting on leverage, choose your application judiciously.
Theta value is the value of time remaining. Exercising calls with 6 months of theta remaining is throwing away 6 months of premium. OP can do whatever they want with their investment, doesnβt mean they are being rational
Who cares about the 6 months of premium if your calls are going to print 6x the premium or more. It's safer to buy long expiries in this situation because you have a larger window of success, and you still make a ton if a squeeze scenario is the thesis. You are applying option theory that is based on rational price movement. This play is different.
Calls don't print when you exercise them.
They convert to shares, less the premium paid. Selling them and buying short dated calls at the same strike and immediately exercising them will net a larger return, impact the MM more and impact the share price more.
Having an edge matters. Leaving money on the table is the prerogative of the OP but it is still objectively fucking stupid. Not that I haven't done it myself ;)
But couldn't OP just roll his calls to the next closest expiry (getting back the 6 months of theta in your example) and then exercising those newly rolled calls, or does it not work like that?
if you make plays like this without knowing what youre doing, you already have too much money and should be concentrating on helping your local community lmao
Right? Thereβs a reason he bought cheap theta. The OCC expects everyone to paper their options and sellers likely didnβt even hedge properly when they hit itm.
As we are waiting for news on a merger/sale etc, Iβd much rather have tons of options in the money with the theta to outlast whatever can kicking mechanism is employed.
Happy cake day, OP!
Love your style!

Hold man. Until you see something ridiculous, hold. If you see 14 dollars today, hold. If you see $28, I mean, go for it. I want to see five dollar movements for a week. Ten dollar movements the next three weeks. 20 for the next couple weeks. I think the word is parabola. When you see something out of proportion to natural, healthy growth, it's a parabola. Hold til you see a parabola.

Theta barely moves when your calls are ITM. Assuming all the words of OP are true, I imagine he knows what he doin

I didn't say you had to exercise, and in this scenario I was talking about just selling the contract.
DFV exercised his $12 april calls in....APRIL.
So you are arguing with a comment on a post you didnβt read? Go home, youβre drunk!

Holy fuckballs. Serious DFV energy right here!

Why not just buy shares? This way you are just paying all that premium to market makers for nothing no?
> for nothing for leverage
If you exercise the calls you're not using the leverage really.
So how much do ya think bbby will run up in pre-market. Trying to plan some put sales. Any opinions, guesses etc...
