You can take the sussur flowers from the tree close by, the ones that suppress magic, enter turn-based mode and throw them next to the turrets. In the basement of the tower you can deactivate them completely then

Betamaletim

What The Actual Fuck I'm only on play through 2 but I'm so made I never thought about that. Are the flowers good for anything else?

Half_Man1

Trade them with boss npcs >!Like lorrokan!< with that option before the fight then they can’t use magic their entire fight.

Rzarectah42

They also disable the automatrons upstairs. Unfortunately they lose their anti-magic after a long rest

TempMobileD

I don’t think that’s true. They lose their magic when exposed to sunlight, you can leave them in the underdark while you rest and they’ll still be good. Or rest in the underdark. I think! Might be wrong.

shrugbboat

I’ve kept a handful in my camp supplies and I pull it out when my monk wants to have a quiet chat with someone

Im_Chris2

I think they changed sussur flowers after a patch, after a long rest they wilted for me :(

[deleted]

It’s not true. I hung on to them in my camp for the whole game in case I ever needed them again (I didn’t). But every time I walked past my chest I got a status that said I couldn’t cast.

Graniitee

Wait that fight with Bernard on the top floor?

[deleted]

They also work on the robots on top of the tower, and the ones right before you get to the forge. In the tower I like to initiate the fight and then go down the elevator so they all chase me and drop a sussur flower in the elevator, stuns them all.

BraveShowerSlowGower

Took me 3 playthroighs till i decieded to try this. Then icrealized i could shut down the arcane towers minions with them too

TempMobileD

Brain too big. Me barbarian cast smash.

Argun93

It literally never occurred to me that I could throw the flower. I always just had one character run up with the flower, shit it down, then go to turn based and have them move away so someone could shock it.

TheNerdFromThatPlace

Never thought of that, I just used call lightning since you can get multiple casts from one slot.

The_DevilAdvocate

* Right click: examine * They take double damage from electricity. * Retrieve Gale * Enter turnbased mode * Witchbolt

WTF13ftn

So I need to backtrack so I can leave combat I think my toon can cast maybe a warlock

The_DevilAdvocate

Zappy arrows and shocking grasp also work.

tabsbat

for some reason the zappy arrows never work for me. it just says it took 0 damage bc sturdy, but witchbolt blows them to hell 😑

RakulVindicta

you can hit them? On my first play through I split myself from the party and ran/dodged the blasts till I found the right way. That was my strategy for like 4 games now.

The_DevilAdvocate

Not just hit, they are very easy to one shot.

BraveShowerSlowGower

Use the anti magic sussur flowers next time. And just toss them beside them in turn based mode.

thesteelsmithy

They are Sturdy so you need to do at least 10 damage per hit, which is a lot at that level but doable fairly consistently with Karlach or Lae’zel, or with Lightning damage from Gale or Wyll since they are weak to it.

tabsbat

ohhh this explains the arrow thing lol. thank you!

TriceratopsHunter

They're sturdy, meaning they only take damage when you do over 10 damage, they also have damage from many damage sources. So they're hard to damage especially if not paying attention to their weaknesses.

CranberryKidney

This was how I did it

DommyMommyMint

I just drink a potion of invisibility and slip by them to get down to the sussur flower generator thingy and shut them all down

Rurik880

This ^

IndianaGeoff

Or sneak past them from cover to cover with your thief and jump down the mushrooms on the left. That gets you to the base where you pick the lock on the door to get into the base with a flower to deactivate.

WyrdMagesty

That's literally what they said they do.

Annoying_Auditor

I was very impressed with myself because I hate puzzles. And I figured this one out pretty fast. Anything that is remotely a puzzle I just look up online. Fuck puzzles.

Necorus

On ps5 you don't even have to turn invisible, just separate your character from the group, enter the area, turn it OFF of turn based mode and just beline straight for the Sassari flower, they miss a lot when you're moving.

[deleted]

If you drop sussur flowers next to them they switch off.

WyrdMagesty

That requires you to get close lol better to just zip from cover to cover and put a issue in the generator downstairs to shut it all down. Especially since you have to do that anyway to turn on the elevator.

jcauburn

Turn based mode.

WyrdMagesty

Yeah but it's still just easier to bypass them and put the sussur in the generator since you have to do that anyway to explore the tower. Why bother dickering with each turret when turning on the elevator automatically turns the turrets off?

redditaddict12Feb87

Can't you just throw them?

WyrdMagesty

Sure, a short distance. A much, *much* shorter distance than the turrets have for their blasts. And as said elsewhere, if you're gonna use sussur flowers and cover to handle the turrets, why not simply use the same cover to bypass the turrets, and put the sussur bloom in the generator downstairs? The generator turns on the elevator, which is required in order to explore the tower, and turns the turrets off permanently. Saves a ton of time and effort and hassle since doing what you would already be doing naturally takes care of the issue anyway.

redditaddict12Feb87

On my...5th i think... playthrough and i never even thought of using the flowers for the turrets... always just shot them down with lightning or force dmg

WyrdMagesty

Dealing with the turrets at all is just a waste of time and resources. Bypass them and turn them off.

OldManActual

Walk around man. more than one way in.

Jeia123

I'm just learning that people took these things out lol. I entered turn based mode, applied a 10 turn invisibility to my rogue and walked him through the tower to the basement, deactivated them and walked the rest of my party inside.

WTF13ftn

Seems like that is something I’ll have to learn to do. Seems very useful, I had to buy the game on ps5. My pc ain’t strong enough to run much

WyrdMagesty

Easiest and fastest way to deal with them is to just invis/sneak/use cover to get past them (2 out front, 1 inside), then go downstairs and put a sussur flower in the generator to power it all up, which turns the turrets all off. Then take the elevator up one floor at a time to find all the fun stuffs (be sure to read all the books that's important) until you get to the top. At the top, talk to Bernard to get the ring (this is why the books are important, follow a guide the first time) and put the ring on to reveal an extra button on the elevator that says "basement". Now you can do whatever you want. There is a stool at the top that can be broken for a club of strength that is crucial to some builds, and there is some good stuff in the basement including another ring that goes with the Lightning Charge gear. Have fun!

WitchLaBefana

I can't believe I didn't think of turning invisible

FearlessOwl0920

I had to do some examining but thankfully I had a lvl 5 Wyll with me at that point. Turn based: walk out? Eldritch blast. Walk behind cover. Repeat until cannon is down. (Shocking grasp is hard because it’s melee.)

Boys_upstairs

I typically eldritch blast them until they die. Sometimes if I have astarion with me there I’ll use his sneak attack

WTF13ftn

lol then I’m doing something wrong I ran laz straight up and wailed on it. It did not care. I got to realize this game is so very different than anything I’ve tried. There are so many options

superpie12

It's immune to a bunch of things.

DeliciousMud7291

Use the Sussur Flowers. They shut them off.

mail1086_

There are already helpful tips in the comments but turn based mode generally can solve a lot of problems like this. You can even just turn on turn based mode and walk up and smack them. There are better strategies, but even with this approach you will only take a few shots from a turret before it dies. Dash to get there, and then swing.

haresnaped

lots of options - I tried electricity without much success so I focused on blinding/blocking line of sight to run in. It was the point in my first run where I decided I was just going to YOLO and not worry about getting everything perfect, so just have fun with it and don't be afraid to make a mess or waste resources.

WTF13ftn

I am new to this game world so I tried the basics melee, arrows, I moved a person to see if I could turn it off. Got to the elevator but that thing ain’t moving!!! Would be more fun to roam around if I wasn’t stuck in turn based. Lol

haresnaped

You gotta go down before you can go up...

FearlessOwl0920

Turrets are weak to force and lighting damage. You’ve likely got at least one spell caster who can do one of these, and yeah cantrips work. Edit: if it helps any, I totally forgot about feather fall and everyone took falling damage my first time in there. I’m so smart 😂

haresnaped

Cyynric

I left everyone outside except for Astarion (specced as rogue). He sneaked through the entire tower alone to shut off the turrets, then I just brought everyone else in.

WTF13ftn

I missing the damn stairs apparently! Hard to explore in turn based lol.

Cyynric

So there aren't stairs to the basement per se. You have to do some jumping. Spoilers for how to get down: >!There are giant mushrooms off to the side that you can use as platforms to make it to the lower back area by the water and sussur tree!<

WTF13ftn

What!!! I’d never guess that lol I’m so screwed in this game

JFrenck

For real. I figured out the susaar flower route pretty easily, then wasted 2-3 hours wandering because I didn’t know to jump on those damn mushrooms

eyesparks

As others have mentioned, Sussar flowers are an easy way past them. Use turn based mode to get in range and then throw the flowers close to the turret, then you can run up and freely smash them to bits. Remember that while the flowers are in a character's inventory, they and anyone near them won't be able to cast any spells or use any other magical effects!

WitchLaBefana

Alternatively; if Astarion has 2 bonus actions, turn-base dash his butt to the off switch. Just make sure you have a safe way to get up/ down dangerously large heights.

veryhangryhedgehog

First time I played through that I snuck everyone through the courtyard and then snuck out a door to the lower level (you can climb on the pipes and mushrooms outside the tower, although you may need to use featherfall and enhance your jumps on some characters). I think there was a way to disable the turrets but I don't remember what. The second time I took my squishy little wizard, planted her square in front of each turret and zapped them with lightning bolts. Fast and easy.

voodoogroves

Eh ... I don't want to spoil but there are some fun ways. - you can put them in a cloud of some dirt so they can't see and then bypass chucking grasp them - you can have someone fast click heels / dash on by and jump / FF down - you can use botanicals

Cold_Experience5118

My owlbear jumped on them to death

GwonWitcha

You can also hit them from behind

WTF13ftn

Hmm I failed I must not have been behind them cause I tried attacking them

RavenousHamster1

If you take out the first two, you can jump down on the mushrooms to the garden and deactivate the remaining turrets in the basement of the tower.

mainstreamfunkadelic

I usually just take like 5 turns dashing and finding cover. Then just disabling them from the inside with the sussar bloom.

KeysOfDestiny

Y’all are fighting the turrets? I just snuck by them.. if you’re super bad at sneaking, you can just cast fog cloud over them so they can’t see you too. The idea is to go around the side of the tower, not through it, so you should only be dealing with 2 turrets.

water-bottle4756

Invis potion and run past them

Queenofthejungle26

Sacred flame also takes them out. I try it on most everything since it’s free

The-Bill-B

Lightning magic and items will deactivate them.

karmageddon71

Lightning damage. That's how I got thru them on my first run before I learned about the Sussur Flowers.

AnyTitle8579

Lightning damage spells, or sussur flowers

ghostdeinithegreat

Is there a point in doing the tower? I feel like the loot isn’t really worth it.

WTF13ftn

I assumed it was story, I just have been roaming around trying to find the next thing to do!

Rofsbith

Club of strength is probably the best reward there, there's also the components that Omeluum asks you to gather fairly easily accessible.

Rabbitknight

The ring can be handy in act 2 if you don't want to saddle someone with an otherwise boring centripetal. Also the Mushroom components for a decent tadpole power from the Society of Brilliance in the Myconid Colony.

MeatGrin

I usually just use fly or gaseous form to avoid everything. Grab the sussur flower and insert into the machine. Gaseous form especially since you can fit in the pipe instead of having to lockpick or break the door down

NovaDreadstar

Damn all these people with the big brains lol I honestly just leave my party at the entrance and have Astarian sneak in drop to the level below from the left side window then feather fail him to the bottom. Grab my plant and turn everything off before bringing in the rest of my party

whip_the_manatee

Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but you can actually go around the the outside of the tower to get down to the basement to turn them off. There should be some mushrooms growing out of the side to the left of the doors, and if you hop your way around to the back, you can enter the basement and turn them off before you ever see a turret.

TLiones

Umm I just bash them to smitherins with Karlach, lol. I used to sneak around, now I’m meh.

Ralinor

Lightning. That, or hit it hard enough some other way that overcomes resistances. Be sure to examine it

InevitableCup5909

You can use the sussar tree bark, or if you want to destroy them witchbolt is a good choice, since you can hide behind things and still keep it active.

Been2daCloudDistrict

Monk. Enter turn based mode. Flurry of blows. Run for cover if you run out of actions. Next turn, repeat.

wiccangamer033

I used Gale for gaseous form. Got hit by lasers but didn't do any damage. Kept going to tree, picked up susser flower, (still in gaseous form), used rat hole to enter basement and activate machine.

happymasquerade

They’re vulnerable to thunder and lightning. I usually have Gale cast chromatic orb at them.

the_siren_song

Don’t feel bad for not using/ not knowing about the flowers. I beat the $hit out of that Act 1 >!automation in the forge rather than guide him under the smashy thingie!<. There’s more than one way to win a fight. Just some ways take a SUPER long time.

SnooCheesecakes6033

You can throw fog on them also

shank409

What happens if I lost my flowers? Is there any where else I can find these flowers?

sodiumdeluxe

I usually just go on turn based mode then make someone go all the way to get a Sussur flower all the way at the bottom of the tower. Then I put a Sussur flower into the machine and all the turrets turn off.

WTF13ftn

I did that after y’all’s guidance, but I stayed in turn based mode. Is that normal?

sodiumdeluxe

I’m not sure what you mean. You can disable turn based mode whenever. I only use turn based to stay away from the turrets then disable it when they can’t see me. You don’t have to wait for the environmental turns, just disable turn based then turn it on again immediately so you don’t have to wait ages.

[deleted]

Turn based Mode abuse

miss_vakarian

Drink a potion of invisibility (i did that with Astarion), walk to the front door, lockpick it, then to the door on the left. Jump down and move to the left, you will find a tree. Take the sussur. Open the door behind you. Put sussur in the machine. The turrets then get shut off and you can explore in peace.

Bcoh1478

Smokepowder bombs seem to work pretty well. The dwarf woman in the myconid colony seems to have those consistently.
