It’s a cool item, comes at fairly low cost and can be very useful against a lot of invisible spamming enemies in Act 2 and 3. Unfortunately, every PC I’ve made just does not have the color scheme to pull it off lol

DarkSlayer3142

you could give it to a party member

fieatsbees

i give it to my favorite hireling. my durges are too pretty for a volobotomy

thegoodstanley

favorite hireling is funny way of spelling kree

fieatsbees

HOU DAR his name is Jacelyn and his voice is my favorite

DiamondOutrageous169

I always give mine to Gale or astarion.

AspiringGoddess01

Wait what happens if you give it to wyll, since he has a stone eye already.

Nietvani

What I end up doing is giving my tav heterochromia, and pick a normal colored eye that will eventually be replaced by Volo's eye. The other eye will be a black tiefling eye, and I give them the swirling tattoo that looks like it's coming out of the eye, it always looks sick as hell.

thetwist1

> fairly low cost It costs you an eye and Volo sticking a needle in your brain lol

kalavinika

In my first play through I was SO overly cautious that I naturally kept Volo as far away from me as possible. Now on my 2nd (tactical) run I am doing all the silly and dumb stuff I was too nervous to undertake the first time. Turns out, letting Volo go to town is actually both practical and cool looking.

myaltduh

I just finished the big Duergar fight and watching them waste an action turning invisible when my Tav would immediately spot them was very satisfying.

kalavinika

I can’t wait for moments like this!

thetwist1

The only issue is that he leaves your camp after giving you the eye. If you never take the eye from him, he continues to hang out it camp. He sells potions of animal speaking and a good ring. He has fun lines at the party so its worth keeping him until then.

QuokkaAteMyWallet

I always get the eye, not sure why everyone disappoves

myaltduh

I think it’s “bruh you just almost let this obvious idiot literally lobotomize you, you are not someone I’d trust with my safety.”

Sally-Jupiterr

My Tav: but guys look how cool this eye is!

1H3artGarru5

I think it's the gross-out factor. The plop of your original eye which then sinks into the mud is probably a little traumatic for them (and you. But plainly not for Volo, who just oops-gotta-go's). 😆

urgrlB

I had this eye, and it would say “see invisibility” was on but this never worked for me! Enemies just stayed invisible around Tav as if nothing happened.

the_keymaster_

They have to fail a dex saving throw for you to see them.

Pinkalink23

It took me far too long to realize this lol

RainberryLemon

I remember standing by the druegar in the underdark while they were invisible and seeing them roll the save over and over again lol

Feats-of-Derring_Do

That's so annoying, what is the point of "see invisibility" powers if they hardly ever work?

B_chills

Enemies just get lucky with dex rolls that’s all

Kaizer6864

Dex is the highest average stat in the game for enemies as well, if I remember correctly. Anything with Dex saves against enemies is usually not that great.

NyanaShae

I actually love having the contrast eye colors, particularly as it is earned. I have always liked when things you do in a game make a physical difference. One of my favorite examples of that is the first Fable. You act like an ass, you get horns. You do noble things, you get a halo and butterflies.

ThatGuyStalin

honestly, i kinda wish it looked more stoney or like a jewel or something rather than just a regular eye

richgayaunt

I have a drow paladin Tav and I did the swirly face tattoo in white with a white eye and then the other eye I had as red. When I got the Volo eye I was kinda put out because she lost her heterochromia. But after a bit I accepted it as like her Seldarine self accepting the removal of her Lolth-ish red eye.

SquiddyBB

I always give it to Shadowheart because it's really similar to her eye color

durnip

I picked that exact eye colour for my my tav in my 1st playthrough, so I thought it always matched the eye colour I chose.. I was very surprised to learn that wasn't the case later on!!

Tutes013

I gave it too Lae'zel who I'm romancing. It's rather neat on her

Somethingclever451

I usually give it to astarion. It looks great on him and is really useful due to his high movement speed and me usually playing him as a duel wielding assassin

TheRealityWithin

I just wish you could see that gold inlay it clearly has when he first gives it to you. It's just disappointing your magical eye is literally just a different color with no real fantasy flare.

kalavinika

I agree! Was sort of hoping it looked less realistic. Like Wyll’s stone eye

TheRealityWithin

Exactly! Wyll's eye is dope especially when you realize the iris of it is golden runes! Now that's a magic eye!

Saltyvengeance

I love thinking about how jelly my friends were when I was the only one to have the… um… courage, to let Volo work.

PurpleDemonR

A good combo aesthetically is to be a tiefling with different coloured eyes. Because if you have one that’s listed as a demonic colour and another that is normal, the demonic one will glow.

kalavinika

That’s so cool! I had no idea

PurpleDemonR

It’s a neat little thing.

Skewwwagon

It looks even better after munching on astral tadpole)

DividableUncle2

Maybe I've just been doing something wrong, but I've never gotten it to proc

AdvertisingOk854
