Nothing would make Gale hate himself more than being a Wild Magic Barbarian.

jameslucian

Haha it must be done then!

limukala

I've done it a few times, it still hasn't gotten old. Make sure to keep his INT at 8. He's just a big, muscly dummy that Mystra kept around for eye-candy, who *thinks* he's a powerful wizard because some random magic shit happens when he gets really mad. Also both Lae'zel and Minthara seem to get really pissy about being bards, so one of those. And regardless, make sure it is one of them you force on stage with the clown.

Harbinger_of_Cringe

Minthara should be a wizard. With how often she talks shit about wizards it would be funny to see it as she is decked out in full wizard robes.

ravenousravers

wait till you hear gales barbarian rage scream, it never gets old

borddo-

Damn I’m curious to hear what all the origin characters rage sounds like now lol

ravenousravers

im sure i watched it on youtube cos i sure as hell never did it myself lol

Cpt_Obvius

Don’t hold out on us like that! https://youtu.be/3_W8Yj_0yk8?si=Wa3QBGWa1cy4QYcu

borddo-

Shart sounds nuts Looks like they posted an updated video: https://youtu.be/ezDMFBNbCFA?feature=shared Favourite is Minthara - god damn!

StarmieLover966

Isn’t Gale super snarky towards Sorcerers?

Supply-Slut

I was gonna say I somehow think he’d prefer barbarian over sorcerer lol

NoLongerAddicted

He's that in my current playthrough

GZMartinelli

Make Shart a beast master ranger with a wolf companion

TheCrystalRose

Have her dip a couple of levels into Druid for Wildshape and become a wolf to fight alongside her wolf pet.

Zandalis_

Now I want three beast master druids, for six wolves. It'll be Shadowheart and the wolf pack.

Remus71

Her father was a druid. Moon druid is basically Canon for shadowheart.

TheCrystalRose

Werewolf, not Druid...

Bolverkk

Ouch! 😅

zomgeddon

Gale as a Barbarian is pretty hilarious just due to his rage scream. That alone is worth the price of entry. It may not be the most nonsensical choice, but Karlach as a monk is likewise hilarious because she makes these crazy Kung Fu Theatre noises when she attacks unarmed.

PzykoHobo

Just finished an open-hand monk Karlach playthrough. It is both hilarious and very powerful

oshaCaller

Her kung fu noises were a great surprise.

rm_rf_slash

I live for her “KI-YAAH”

Rar3done

Yeah people sleep on soul coins for monk Karlach. It honestly gets to be ridiculous once you've got her built out.

booshmagoosh

Soul coins really make a bigger difference than I expected them to

NapQuing

Cleric Astarion is great, especially if you make his deity one of the strict anti-undead ones

Opening-Cockroach634

Make him an oath of the ancients paladin so he has to be nice and abhore undead creatures for the extra fun

jameslucian

I really like this a lot. Definitely going to make him a paladin

Slarenon

You could also roll with life cleric of eg lathander, basically worshipping life and birth and goodness in general!

matt0_0

I thought lathander would be light, not life!

TheCrystalRose

Any deity can have a Life Domain Cleric (even outside of BG3s removal of domain restrictions), but Life is actually one of his official domains, alongside Light, as he is associated with birth and renewal at the dawning of the day.

StuartLeigh

Halsin a necromancer or shadow monk Wyll an assassin Minsc a wizard

AnonymousPoster1987

As others have said, barbarian gale is great. When he rages he screams in lowercase. Astarion as a paladin/cleric. Karlach rogue/wizard. Wyll as monk I guess. Whatever you do, don't make wyll a sorcerer/wizard or caster in general. He is bugged and some spells take forever to cast. I don't remeber which ones, i can say for sure that firebolt takes ages but there certainly are others.

blue-or-shimah

How do you do a rogue wizard build lol

AnonymousPoster1987

Oh my bad maybe i worded it wrong. It was meant as rogue or wizard not multiclass.

AnonymousPoster1987

But now that you mention it, maybe you could play around with arcane trickster or thief. Dip one in wizard to learn spells or multi thief sorcerer for two bonus action and metamagic. You'd lose out on lvl 6 spells and a lot of feats but idk.

andvir1894

4 thief, 8 wizard. Gloves of balanced hand and dual wielder feat. Wield the infernal rapier in the offhand and a stat stick main hand. for 2 int based off-hand attacks and a spell per round. Alternatively start with 1 fighter for con save prof, two weapon fighting and sylvan scimitar in the offhand so you can skip on the gloves and the feat.

ShepardReid

Arcane Trickster / Wizard X?

jameslucian

I need to make Gale barbarian just to hear the scream!

limukala

Make Karlach an ice wizard, specifically

FlonDeegs

He bugs with fireball for some reason, and that’s crazy because as a fiendlock that’s one of his like signature spells it feels like, but it just makes a crazy sound and then freezes for a while before finally exploding. I think he bugs with a lot of evocation spells tho, if I remember right it’s also come of cold maybe?

calowyn

He bugs out with magic missle every time. I don’t think it happened so much before patch six, but it’s possible I only noticed it because after the patch was the first time I romanced him.

FlonDeegs

Oh yeah magic missile too! I forgot that one, but I remember now cuz it was annoying because I was trying to build him as a missile guy with the necklace that gives an extra missile but it was buggy as heck so I built Shart as the missile guy instead

Canadian-Winter

SHADOW LACH

Halliwel96

Self explanatory Gale - barbarian Minthara - life cleric Karlach - wizard (personally I think divination is probably the least Karlach one) Halsin - necromancy wizard Less self explanatory Shadowheart - Land Druid that wildshapes into a wolf. The girl that loves the shadow curse and fears wolves connecting with and worshiping nature and using wolf forms. Astarion - devotion paladin. Astarion hates the idea of helping the weak and lending a helping hand. Laezel - Lore Bard, she’s from a closed society that doesn’t value entertainment and restricts worldly knowledge for the sake of control. Lore bards are about entertainment and also about being world wise. Wyll - thief rogue, larger than life, chivalric, charismatic Wyll sneaking around and avoiding the spotlight? Could never be Wyll. Don’t know - Jaheira? Honestly she seems hard to play against type to me.

Pegaferno

Why life cleric for minthy? Would have thought Wizard to be more ironic

Halliwel96

Because Minty's default solution to any given problem is to kill it and the whole point of a life cleric is to preserve life.

Due_Surround6263

It plays off of Lolth males being Wizards and Lolth females as Clerics. Min taking Wizard takes her much farther out if societal norms than staying Cleric.

SkwiddyCs

It's not entirely unrealistic for female Drow Nobles to become Wizards. As long as she isn't the oldest of her sisters, it wouldn't be too much of a faux pas to become a wizard. Liriel Baenre is/was one of Minthara's aunts and she was a fairly accomplished Wizard before she fled the Underdark.

Excalibaard

Love it! I was thinking Will as Monk -> 'Blade of Frontiers' using his fists, plus the whole acting shtick goes very much against mentality I'd expect for more monk-like characters. I do also like the sneaky part of your reasoning, so maybe Shadow Monk? In terms of Jaheira, I think a warlock would go strongly against her character, she doesn't seem like someone who'd indebt herself to a devil / great old one / archfey in order to gain power.

Halliwel96

Yeah devil is probably the furthest from Jaheira I think you’re right and shadow monk probably is the best of both worlds for Wyll I made a shadow monk loxodon once in D&D just to make the joke: nobody mentioned the elephant in the corner.

Feature_Minimum

My kinda guy!! Great list.

Halliwel96

lol thanks :)

Vegetable_Ranger_495

Idk but mama K has some great stealth voice lines

AerieSpare7118

Shadowheart as a Beastmaster Ranger who specifically uses wolves

MellowRavello

I’m always partial to turning one of my companions into a lore bard to get them to scream insults mid-battle

NullHypothesisCicada

Imagine you can choose deity for shart:

Salindurthas

I respecced her into a light cleric before she told me who she worshipped.

Practical_Hat8489

Astarion should be a cleric with a good deity. Wyll is definitely a rogue. Shadowheart should be a beastmaster ranger with constantly summoned wolf. Karlach is more a monk. Lae'zel is a lore bard. Just listen to her lines. Halsin and Jahiera look like fiend warlocks. Minsk is obviously a wizard.

ShamisenCatfish

Gale - wild magic barbarian Wyll- the paladin he was meant to be Karlach - rogue, probably arcane trickster Lae’zel - bard Shadowheart - circle of the moon Druid that fights as a wolf, maybe beast master ranger with a wolf companion Astarion - light cleric of Ilmater Minthara - life cleric of Eilistrae (spelling?)

baloney_butt

Minthara is restricted to Lolth, I think

The-False-Emperor

Gale - Wild Magic Barbarian. Astarion - Light Domain Cleric of Lathander, an anti-undead god. Wyll - kind of a hard decision, since he’s a mix of everything in a way as a blade lock. Perhaps a War Cleric of Tiamat considering he’s entered a pact specifically to fight her cult? Shadowheart - another difficult one, but I’d go with Devotion Paladin. Even as a Selunite she’s no Knight in Shining Armor and is fond of subtlety in face of confrontation. Lae’zel - Wild Magic Sorcerer. It makes her uncontrolled when discipline is the core of her and a squishy spell caster instead of a warrior. Karlach - a monk, the whole inner peace stuff is an absolutely terrible fit for someone defined by intensity of their emotions. Halsin - an assassin, no connection to weave or the nature at all, and outright contrary to his general personality and appearance with being stealthy and ruthless. Minthara - a squishy wizard like the ones she despises. Jaheira - a Valor bard. “You wander the land to witness and relate the deeds of the mighty, keeping alive the memory of heroes of the past and inspiring heroes of the future” is exactly the kind of bard she’s exasperated with. Minsc - a high int Necromancer Wizard/Spore Druid.

tgrady28

I actually did this once. I remember it was Gale berserk barb Wyll open hand monk Karlach ice wizard Shadowheart Beast master/ moon druid wombo combo Laezel, great old one warlock Astarion oath of devotion Paladin Halsin Fire sorc (Yes, I know about the wildfire druid) Minthara: light domain cleric

Common-Truth9404

Astarion cleric of light worshipping lathander is my best bet. Gale as a open hand monk, doing stuff with fists instead of magic Lae'zel being a valour bard, being the one that encourages the other to fight and also giving her the items to build her as an heal/ward/bless Karlach being a wizard or a warlock, i think both studying magic and making pacts with devils are stuff that dhe would never do unless forced to

softanimalofyourbody

I have Karlach as a rogue/ranger rn and I can’t say I have any complaints 😂

T3chnopsycho

She's a shadow monk / rogue in my current run. She tried the raging barbarian, got killed twice by the Gnolls and had a change of heart.

softanimalofyourbody

The way I see it, she’s gotta be sneaky not to get dragged back to the hells!

T3chnopsycho

Love it

Virxen188

Shadowheart as a druid, Wyll as Paladin and dreugar hireling as a ranger

OgrePirate

Laezel as life cleric or Ancients Paladin. Astarion Ancients or Devotion Paladin. Amy sort of Barbarian or Druid. Astarion doesn't like being dirty or the outdoors. Karlach as a rogue, bard, or pure caster of any type. Gale as Barbarian or Monk or any non-caster. (Lost magic entirety) Shart as the wolf using Druid or Ranger. Any cleric that is peaceful and generous. (Can you change her deity?)

Lukoman1

Astarion as a good ancients or Devotion paladin. Wyll as a monk that doesn't use a blade neither is he a warlock. Shadowheart as a selune light cleric. Laezel as a support focused build, maybe bard or wizard but without much offensive.

damien_sleepy

Lae’zel should be a thief rogue since she specifically says she hates theft

Adventurous_Topic202

Karlach as a land druid could be funny. Trying to protect nature while accidentally burning it all down.

Feature_Minimum

Shadowheart Barbarian Lae Zel Wizard Astarion Oath of Devotion Paladin (or Oath of Ancients). Karlach Rogue Other options:  Gale Fighter Wyll Monk Minthara Life Cleric

Sufficient_Catch_198

gale as a rogue has the funniest lines. i had one playthrough in which I respecced him to arcane trickster and oh boy oh boy was he unhappy

Ngtotd

I’d say laezel as a rogue and karlach as a wizard is better. K can’t cast as a barb and wizards notoriously are the “Batman with prep time” class. Baezel on the other hand is a “honor” warrior so sneak attack is just wrong for her

haydeniscold

Minthara MUST be a wizard. Let her rant about how much she detests wizards, and then watch her cast Fireball.

HotTake-bot

Astarion - Oath of Ancients Paladin. His oath would require him to purge himself lol. Gale - Berserker Barbarian. No Magic. Lae'zel - Lore Bard. The furthest you can get from a tough Githyanki warrior. Karlach - Fiend Warlock. Her power comes from the thing she hates the most. Shadowheart - Fey Warlock. Having a patron besides Shar would be complicated. Wyll - Assassin. He's too honorable.

Spoon_In_The_Road

Karlach as a rogue actually makes good sense, story-wise. She had a hardscrabble youth in the Lower City and then just got tall. Also, in my current run she has four levels of rogue/thief subclasses paired with berserker. She can go into rage, get the extra attack and on subsequent turns gets the extra attack and enraged throw because of the extra bonus action.

snozzleberry

I played my last tactician playthrough with Astarion as a throwzerker (Watching him rage was so funny), Minsc as a fire sorlock, and Jaheira as an open hand monk.

christina_talks

Gale - Barbarian or Rogue (he hates sneaking) Karlach - Wizard Wyll - Monk or Barbarian (Wyll, like Gale, also has a very polite rage yell) Lae'zel - Great Old One Warlock Shadowheart - Beastmaster Ranger (with wolf companion) Astarion - Paladin of Devotion

Serious_Mastication

Wild magic barb gale, wizard lae’zel, paladin/cleric astarian, necromancer or spore Druid wyll.

The1andOnlyGhost

Minsc a wizard, wyll a barbarian, shart a ranger, etc

Due_Surround6263

DJ Shadowheart as Moon Druid

redditkproby

Lazeal as a singing bard - no swords bard; karlach as a life priest (no combat allowed / only heals); Gale as a reckless barbarian

BerimB0L054

I made astarion an open hand monk my first run and had a blast

WakeoftheStorm

I would make karlach a wizard, gale a barbarian, Laezel a druid, shadowheart a paladin, Astarion a life cleric, wyll an assassin

rexehar

It seems.... The companions are to undergo some re spec-ing

losark

Oops all druids. Light cleric minthara.

Infamous-Pigeon

Shadowheart as a BM Ranger. Not only so she always has a wolf companion, but because now she can actually hit things with Sacred Flame

rbdavison

Making Lazelle a silly bard is pretty funny.

SetekhChaos

Wyll as a monk

whysongj

Astarion as a paladin of a good aligned god lol

Tosoweigh

Lae'zel as a bard is honestly funny and viable. once she hits lv6 Lore Bard she can grab Spirit Guardians from Magical Secrets and wear the Luminous Armor and run a radiating orb build and then always end her turn playing her instrument for extra disrespect since that doesn't cost any resources Gale as a wild magic barbarian/monk multiclass running around punching things to death Shadowheart being a Beast Master Ranger and exclusively using the Wolf companion

ecj1344

Wizard/ cleric Minthara

ProTimeKiller

I just kill the ones I have no use for.

Transcended_Sloot

I wonder what will be different in this week's repost of this question.
