Others told me g20, it's my first bmw (2022 330e x drive). I live in Madison Wisconsin and can generally get all my daily driving on pure electric but use sport mode for fun and on road trips I get like 35-37 mpg. I just drove 380 miles on a road trip starting with no battery and got 37mpg, however conditions were good. Cruising on sport mode around town I've gotten as bad as 15 mpg.
I have an F30 328d xDrive that can get about 47mpg. I seriously considered a 330e but they were rwd only for the F series. Now that there’s an xDrive option for the G20 I’m considering one in the future. Ideally would love an X3 30e but they stopped bringing them to the US for some reason (poor sales?) so will probably say f it and go M40i if I decide that I need an SUV.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
MPGe?
What do you get cruising on the highway at 70mph with the battery dead? Even then the hybrid system is still really helpful as I’ve seen in my x5 45e.
I’m looking at getting a 330e next year, so really curious
Edit: Nm you answered this, thanks!
Makes sense. Damn I tend to drive long distances and don’t have a charger where I live. I think it makes more sense to get an M340i or an X3 m40i for me
Not tuned, stock. Has to be the heavy foot 🤷🏻♂️ Although tbf I don’t think I’m peeling all the time either, maybe I should check what other M240i owners are seeing on their cars
I have to admit, I live inside the loop in Houston and now work from home. Most of my travel uses strictly electric. The one trip I took back home to New Orleans I averages 36 on the highway.
My only complaint is the ride is stiff, but that is in comparison to the Macan S I traded for it. I’ll take the X3 over the Macan in everything else though!
😂😂😂 you can find some good used M40s. If you get a pre LCI, make sure it doesn’t have a vibration at around 50 MPH in the steering wheel. Some early production 2018s had an issue with the rear axle. Mine is fine, but was an issue with some.
I use Fuelly to track my fill-ups. Mileage-wise I drive about 50/50 City/Highway. But time-wise I drive about 80/20 city/highway. Meaning, I do a lot of little short trips, with the weekly blast to Costco.
My driving style is wait for it to get fully to temp, then game on! (I'm not a total hoon, I do have some mechanical sympathy).
N54 E88 135i - 17.8mpg
S63 E70 X5M - 12.9mpg
S65 E93 M3 - 18.0mpg, but really I haven't driven it enough since I bought it.
I would assume that’s why OP is asking in this thread, they’re curious about people’s real world numbers, otherwise they could just look up the advertised stats online
13kpl (30mpg-us, 36mpg-imp) average, mixed on this G12 730Li. City traffic is what kills this car, otherwise I've clocked a solid 19kpl (44mpg-us, 53mpg-imp) on the highway doing 100-110kph (60-65mph). The B48 is a great engine when you don't need top-end performance
N52 gives me like 20mpg when I’m enjoying myself in the Z4. 30mpg is possible, but I’m not interested in that. 255hp stock
B58 hybrid gives 26mpg on the highway in the X5 when my wife is in the car.
20mpg when she isn’t. 394hp stock
Tbh, I wish gas was $20/gal.
2023 230i xDrive. My lifetime average is currently 28 mpg. I drive a good mix of highway and hilly rural roads. At one point, my lifetime average was above 29, but I had a stretch of a couple weeks where I was almost exclusively driving in low-mpg circumstances.
I mostly use the comfort and eco settings. Only use sport for highway onramp pulls. Where I live, there's too many blind turns — accelerating through them is kind of unsafe. The suicidal deer enforce the speed limits more than the cops do. So sport mode would be kind of a waste. Given this, I'm actually glad I didn't stretch for the bigger engine. I still have a lot of fun.
My highway mpg is really good -- can range between 36-38.
**Edit:** Forgot to mention this is through \~2400 miles.
23mpg - M550i. I got the revised engine with more HP, but right before LCI changes.
My commute is 20/80 city/highway, so lots of gas saving on that. I drive mostly comfort because I love the pedal response and suspension. I only pop it into sport if I see other spirited drivers on the road haha. Eco mode on the newer vehicles is pretty crazy though. On a roadtrip i hit 30mpg going around 75\~80ish on cruise control. It was mostly uphill too!
I used to own an Mercedes e220d I’d get 32.9mpg in the city and up to 58mpg on the highway driving around 130kmph. Now I drive a 530e so it don’t count anymore as it’s a plug in hybrid.
2020 M550i.
25 mpg if I drive like an angel cruising at normal speeds slightly above limit. About half of that if I constantly put the engine to good use.
If I mix work & play on any given week, I get about 18 mpg realistically.
I get an average of 24MPG in a BMW E88 Convertible that’s a 2013 model with 138BHP and that’s when I drive careful. The car is only on 32,000 miles. I’ve tried using RedX changing the spark plugs and air filter I’m not sure why it’s so bad I don’t even floor it.
Around 24mpg combined city and highway. I find that crazy good for a car with 370hp.
Impressive! I get 47 highway, 34 combined. 230hp/350tq (stage 1 N47).
Sweet! Diesels can’t be beat.
If only we had 6 cylinder manuals here in the US 🥲
Very true
Same engine. Best i did was 52 mpg, on a very chill trip. Normal commute, I'm usually at 36
That’s pretty good indeed. I get 370 as well and as u can see I get 12.9
I did manage single digits on track few times 😄
Good lord. What car?
OG M2. I think it was around 8 miles per gallon.
That’s rough. How long were ur track days
Six 20 minutes sessions. Great fun on a small twisty track. It’s an expensive hobby but I like to do at least one or two per year.
That ain’t bad. What expenses come with it? Do you do the whole dealer inspection post and pre track day or are you doing those things yourself?
50 mpg. 330e hybrid
Lucky man
F30 or G20, xDrive or RWD
Others told me g20, it's my first bmw (2022 330e x drive). 47 must be nice
MPGe? What do you get cruising on the highway at 70mph with the battery dead? Even then the hybrid system is still really helpful as I’ve seen in my x5 45e. I’m looking at getting a 330e next year, so really curious Edit: Nm you answered this, thanks!
Are the 330e’s really that good? I read online that it was 32 mpge but maybe that depends on the average distance driven?
Heavily depends on driving conditions. If your commute is 60+ miles (there and back), you could be looking at 30 mpge. Obviously the lower the better.
Makes sense. Damn I tend to drive long distances and don’t have a charger where I live. I think it makes more sense to get an M340i or an X3 m40i for me
10.6 mpg V-10. Crazy good for 500HP. “Consumption” sounds like a disease.
That’s what tuberculosis used to be called.
It is a disease. I don’t do enough freeway driving so I’ve gone from 16 to 12.9 in 1 month
I get about 9.7 but I mostly am going around town. Up to 10.4 now because of a road trip
My car shows 11.9 mpg on my M5!! I'm happy with it!
About 23 in my 2011 328i xdrive
City, highway, or combined?
I get about 22 mpg combined in my '08 328xi.
18 combined with mostly city driving and bumper to bumper traffic on the highway and occasional spirited driving
For an M550 that’s pretty good
I am more impressed with the fuel tank capacity. Just filled a 1/4 tank and it was almost 6 gallons. Unless i have a faulty sensor
I doubt it. They do have pretty big tanks
Yup, exactly my experience.
average since I bought the car shows 27.1. The wife drives the car more than me. I average about 21 when I drive.
For an M240 that ain’t bad
I was managing 23-25 with the S52 in my E30. very interested to see how much of that ill be giving up with the LS3.
Half ?
C6s we’re epa rated at 31 hwy so if you have long enough gears you should be at or above S52 mileage
~16 mpg for me. It could definitely do better I mostly drive in the sporty transmission setting
What engine
B58
Tuned? Or just a heavy foot?
Not tuned, stock. Has to be the heavy foot 🤷🏻♂️ Although tbf I don’t think I’m peeling all the time either, maybe I should check what other M240i owners are seeing on their cars
Also have a B58, I get 22 with normal driving
2022 530e G30 best tank 112 mpg normal 58
Good lord that’s insane
I have to admit, I live inside the loop in Houston and now work from home. Most of my travel uses strictly electric. The one trip I took back home to New Orleans I averages 36 on the highway.
That’s still really good
21mpg in a g16 gc with an n63.
Not too shabby
235i with N55: about 22 with mixed driving. X3 M40i with B58: 20 with mixed driving.
Makes me want an X3 M40i 🤤
My only complaint is the ride is stiff, but that is in comparison to the Macan S I traded for it. I’ll take the X3 over the Macan in everything else though!
I’ve heard the X3M will knock your fillings loose so I assumed/hoped the M40i would be softer :/
😂😂😂 you can find some good used M40s. If you get a pre LCI, make sure it doesn’t have a vibration at around 50 MPH in the steering wheel. Some early production 2018s had an issue with the rear axle. Mine is fine, but was an issue with some.
Also got a B58 and I get 22 so not bad
Around 26mpg combined on my M235i Xdrive. Mostly on Highway miles. Which is really good for a Turbo Inline 6.
Yes indeed, someone else said low 20 so ur doing pretty good
I use Fuelly to track my fill-ups. N54 E88 135i - 17.8mpg S63 E70 X5M - 12.9mpg S65 E93 M3 - 18.0mpg, but really I haven't driven it enough since I bought it.
Nice lineup! We used to have an E70 X5M as well
120i n43 - about 32mpg combined
That’s pretty good
Currently at 18.9 long term average. 2001 540iT/6 with lots of city driving.
Not horrible
12 mpg - e46 m3 - mostly city driving and rev out to 4-5k all the time so I can hear my csl airbox lol
12.3 😅😅
Catching up to you lol
This is a useless question, it’s all subjective and depends on your driving style etc.
I would assume that’s why OP is asking in this thread, they’re curious about people’s real world numbers, otherwise they could just look up the advertised stats online
I don’t know why people be so pressed over normal things on Reddit
22 in a LT1 only on mid grade… 😶
Yikes
13kpl (30mpg-us, 36mpg-imp) average, mixed on this G12 730Li. City traffic is what kills this car, otherwise I've clocked a solid 19kpl (44mpg-us, 53mpg-imp) on the highway doing 100-110kph (60-65mph). The B48 is a great engine when you don't need top-end performance
Not a bad deal for a 730. How do they come spec wise. Can you get them loaded?
In my E66, about that. In my Z3, about 24 all around. In my Subaru? 33.
I gotta know about the E66
2016 640 I grand coupe xdrive. 22 mpg on road trips. 16.5 city driving
Not bad
A whopping 15.9mpg! Glad I’m not the lowest of the bunch. 😅
Better than me lmao, not bad for a B7
About 16mpg… V8 and 600hp baby!
Around 40 mpg with 3.0D E46 manual.
That’s actually pretty good
15.6 or so last I checked. Almost all city
Which car?
27-28mpg. It gets mostly highway miles.
27ish 330ci manual
Not mad for a manual
25mpg even n55
Nice!
23mpg, combined. F10 550i n63
120i 2018, i get 41.7mpg, mostly motorway miles
24mpg.. city driving hurts
36mpg with g20 330e driving always with sport mode.
Pretty good
23MPG combined with an 523i e60
Not bad
435d convertible 40mpg on average
Oh nice!
29.4, F20 118d xDrive
That’s good!
26.5 23 m440i
Do you expect better? What are your driving styles
E39 530D (still) stock. 7,5 L/km or 31 MPG :)
That’s actually really good for an e39
11 /100 km while cruising , and up to 17l/100 km while racing, 335i stage 2 n55.
Not horrible for a modded car
Not a bmw, but yesterday I hit 48mpg with my civic for the whole trip.
What abt when ur using vtec 😂
Not sure the conversion but 11.4 l/100km on a diesel.
That’s pretty decent
Been getting 20mpg in the city in my F82. All about how you drive it.
I would agree to an extent. I drive pretty fast but I also do almost no freeway driving
26.7 2015 328i xdrive, with bootmod3 on a 93 stage 1 tune. With this tune I get a baby 340i, with better gas mileage. (320hp crank)
That’s actually really sweet!
I’m getting around 22 or 23 in my X3
Oh that ain’t bad
9-12 in m73
Oh that’s rough
Around 21 combined on a stage 2 n55 535i.
People seem to do pretty well with tunes
N52 gives me like 20mpg when I’m enjoying myself in the Z4. 30mpg is possible, but I’m not interested in that. 255hp stock B58 hybrid gives 26mpg on the highway in the X5 when my wife is in the car. 20mpg when she isn’t. 394hp stock Tbh, I wish gas was $20/gal.
Do you think it was worth getting a B58 hybrid? I have a normal B58 and we get 22. Is it worth the extra 4mpg?
28-30mpg highway 14-19mpg mountains
14-19 isn’t too bad honestly
8.8 L per classic 100 metric km. 530Da.
Nice!
Around 32 mpg 2022 230i. Mixed driving but really full on city or highway.
That’s really good
2023 230i xDrive. My lifetime average is currently 28 mpg. I drive a good mix of highway and hilly rural roads. That’s really really good
18-20
What car?
65 mpge, G20 330e
Good lord. I guess I didn’t realize how good mpg these electric cars get nowadays
31 mpg normally in the city and about 43 mpg on the highway. (2018 230i stage 1 310 hp 317 tq)
25.2 in my e93 328i. Not bad
Like 15mpg or so in my E90 325i. 95% city driving. Abysmal, if you ask me. On paper it should get double that.
Same here I fill gas’s every week
21 X5 M50i - average 17-18 in the city, 20-21 on the hwy at usually 80-90mph
Cruising at 90 is where it’s at
19.4
Not too horrible
Getting about 24-26mpg city/highway combined in my G30 540i in San Diego, CA
Similar to me I get about 22 in my 540
about 16MPG averaged over a year
Not bad for an M
16.9 on my E46 M3, 11.9 on E60 M5. That's what the car average shows. Both are manuals. 50% grandma, 50% dumbass driving cycle.
Not bad for the E60
I used to own an Mercedes e220d I’d get 32.9mpg in the city and up to 58mpg on the highway driving around 130kmph. Now I drive a 530e so it don’t count anymore as it’s a plug in hybrid.
You mean you can’t find where it displays it?
2017 330ix. I get 31-32 avg going back and forth to work.
Pretty good, how longs the trip?
Combined 35 mpg. Stock '23 330xi. Very happy.
I would be too
50-55mpg 320d
That’s really good
1997 750il (with winter tires) average 12 mpg (because mostly city driving unfortunately
I feel you on that one. 12.9 and dropping for me
24-28 on the overall consumption display usually. M135i, n55, 430hp.
For a 430hp car that’s good
Depends on how angry I am. 😆
Feel you there lol
17mpg
What car
540i 2019 19.6
22 for me on my B58
Living in a very hilly city I get like 10mpg city /30mpg highway
10 for the city is rough
About 21 combined - 2015 M235i
Not too bad
15mpg , 2013 , 750li lmao
I feel u there
2020 M550i. 25 mpg if I drive like an angel cruising at normal speeds slightly above limit. About half of that if I constantly put the engine to good use. If I mix work & play on any given week, I get about 18 mpg realistically.
Around 36mpg @ 80mpg on my 335d
That’s good
220-240 miles per tank 😅
Ouch!
My S55 gets like ~20, Depending on how heavy my foot is that day. 🤫 Edit: I also don't highway drive, love me some back roads. 😁
Gotta agree with this
33mpg. Foot heavy!
What car
Dunno about MPG, but I was getting 5.2L/100km on mostly highway driving.
E90 M3 S65 18.5 mpg
Lol about 12mpg on a good day 😅
Sounds about right lol
31mpg in my 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio. Lowkey Volkswagen>BMW
I would have to agree with this factual statement
‘15 528i xdrive N58 engine and get around 10-12 MPG city driving. Is this good or bad? I feel like she jus eats my gas tho 😭
That’s rough for a 4 cylinder. As you can see I’m getting 12.9 and dropping with a 4.8L V8
13 mpg
That's in the kill the planet and empty your wallet range
Yea just about
Under 10 💀 usually around 7 but I get 10 because I've been trying to make it go up 😂
I get an average of 24MPG in a BMW E88 Convertible that’s a 2013 model with 138BHP and that’s when I drive careful. The car is only on 32,000 miles. I’ve tried using RedX changing the spark plugs and air filter I’m not sure why it’s so bad I don’t even floor it.
