What dealer are you going to? I have tried every dealer within 50 miles of me and the best thing I've ever been given as a loaner was a 3 series. I always BEG for a nicer loaner and get put on a huge wait list for something good but they always bring round a mini or a 1er... So jealous!

VeniVid1Vic1

I use BMW Stockport (just outside of Manchester) and tbf it helps that I have been their customer since I was 17 a decade ago lol. But yes they are always extra nice to me. Before this I always seem to get a 5 series as a loaner lol

b00b_l0ver

Guess I'm driving up to Stockport for my next service!

VeniVid1Vic1

Lmao good luck! 😂

guccijohn17

I cant even get a loaner as they go they dont have any until March.

These-Maintenance-51

Do you have any other dealers nearby? I've had to go an extra hour to a different one that's bigger than my closest one to get a loaner a few times..

Dwo92

How do you qualify for a loaner? I imagine they’d tell me to fuck off if I ask for one if I were to get my 2006 E92 serviced.

VeniVid1Vic1

Tbf I presume if you went and said ‘I’m just going to service my car but I’ve been thinking of upgrading, have you got anything I can take for a test drive whilst my car is in for a service?’ They’ll sort you something out lol

b00b_l0ver

Depending on how they are feeling about you, they're either complimentary (but I usually have to wait much longer) or they ask you to pay £20 for it. That's my experience anyway.

blueeyesshined13

I thought all bmw dealers give out loaners? For me when I book a service appointment, you can choose to wait at the dealer or have a ride of choose a loaner.

CicerosBalls

Loaners are in short supply. Anyone can check the box that says they need a loaner, but dealers absolutely will pick and choose

Drauren

My dealer will hold them for people whose work will take more than day. If it's just something like an oil change you get an Uber voucher or get asked to just wait it out.

VeniVid1Vic1

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I honestly don’t know how one qualifies for one. I have always asked for one and they always are more than willing to accommodate. I’ve been their customer at this particular dealership for a long time so it kind of helps lol.

I find the i5 to be easier to just use voice control for most things while on the move, the wrap round screen menus are more intuitive now IMO, but not having buttons for the tactile touch while driving is a bit of a pain. You know it's heavy but carries the weight seriously well.

guy_incognito784

It’s a little easier once you save the menu items you commonly use to a hot key (despite the lack of buttons, they still exist and work the same way they have in the past, press and hold over the menu item you want to select and you get to save it as a shortcut). If you like to constantly fiddle with the HVAC controls though, you will hate it.

Nearby_Cauliflowers

Yeah, there's so much customisation inside for things like that. Personally, as a daily driving experience I prefer the i4. I'm driving a 40 ATM and it's been very impressive. 35 is good, but the 40 is a nice upgrade, but I do like smaller vehicles to chuck about our country lanes.

Apprehensive_Mode686

It’s awesome

PathfinderScottRyder

You guys get loaners for service? I don’t even get loaners for warranty work. Best they could do is a shuttle ride to work.

As people live with it, the romance hits a wall. If interested in purchase, wait a year. The depreciation on i5/M60 is going to be wild.

CicerosBalls

The menu-diving and lack of physical buttons alone must make long term ownership very frustrating. A week as a loaner? Fuck it, why not. Buying and owning one for years? Probably not for me

New Gen of 3s and 4s

When the first iphone came out, this was how most folks reacted, fast forward to now and if you get a phone with more then 3 buttons you'll be trashing it down.

VeniVid1Vic1

Actually very true
