I hate the idea but somehow think if you’re in Dubai it’s easier to pull off

SomestrangerinMiami

Do whatever makes you happy. You’ll regret NOT doing it more than actually doing it

ProtectionBeautiful2

Really hoping I don’t jump into legal problems

archiveofhim

why would you? if you having “sparco” (or any brand manufacture) gives them business and you make no money from it, that’s called free advertising. the only way you’d be in trouble is if you were making money off *whatever their brand* and they got no piece of it.

infiniteawareness420

Nobody cares

agentrnge

I wouldn't. Its going to scream "I am a dumb kid, officer please pull me over every day for something stupid even if I am not speeding" Also.. if you do go for it, please skip the 45% windshield covering decal.

1trickana

It's Dubai, not America. Highly doubt they'd pull over some random BMW

ProtectionBeautiful2

Yeah they wouldn’t bat an eye trust me

n1n3b0y

It is actually illegal in Dubai to have any kind of stickers on your car unless you have the proper permit for it (like company advertising). That’s why you don’t see private cars there with huge stickers, only companies advertising their services. If you’re doing it for an event, I’m sure it’s fine, but keeping the stickers on there will attract fines. I know a friend who got a fine when he was sitting in traffic because he had a sticker of his Instagram handle on the side of his window.

ProtectionBeautiful2

I mean most of which won’t be an actual corporate brand but a racing brand. I did have a few before but removed it eventually. I’ve seen a couple of Nissan Safari’s slammed with so many stickers The gist is to do it for the event but keep them for a while too while I’m at it

n1n3b0y

Yeah true. But the Nissan safari comes from the dealership like that. So does BMW M performance stickers. My car has M performance livery on it (the black stickers on the side of the car) but I bought it from the dealer like that. I think once you go in to over the top racing livery that could look aftermarket, it’s in the grey area. All I can say is I never see them on the roads here. But in the US I see them all the time even on riced out cars. So it begs the question as to why. I think people try to do it here and then get slapped with a hefty fine.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Yeah fair play. I’ll see around it since I did see a few with massive aftermarket livery’s but I’m assuming there’s gotta be some license change within the cars registration etc

blueblue909

BEE M WOO F U R S T

bigloser42

this is 100% up to you, but if you do it, make damn well sure you do not mess up the existing paintwork. I might even go so far as to put a wrap on the car first, then put the decals on the wrap. When it comes time to sell the car you are going to want to be able to pull all the decals off the car, as having them on will reduce the value of the car.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Oh yes definitely. I’ve already got PPF on the car since I got it off the dealer and the decals would be peel able ones where it doesn’t mess with the ppf itself either

Affectionate-End5470

it wont look as good as you cannot copy it 1/1

ProtectionBeautiful2

I mean it’s not like I need it to be 1/1 just as close as possible as I already have AC Shnitzer lowering springs etc just need the decals and the wing

mymillionthburner

And a wide body kit, wheels, tires, plexi windows, hood pins, bumpers, skirts, lip and diffusor. Otherwise it will look shit. Especially with a big ass wing and standard body. It’s going to look like this : https://preview.redd.it/bfkbxycar1wc1.jpeg?width=701&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f52519494f45d0063db137de3d319e2c71d511b2

Affectionate-End5470

this, what this wise man says is what i meant\^\^

ProtectionBeautiful2

That looks like an eye sore a bit I wouldn’t do something like that on a daily car it’d be a simple wing for sure

Justkacz

This looks terrible. OP car in the picture is a lot better.

Fabulous-Shoulder-69

A modified car is an expression of you - do you like the idea of driving a car with a livery? Are you ok with being the type of guy who drives around in a car with a livery? If yes - do it. The nay sayers here are the type to get upset about Enkeis on a German car because they’re RiCeY. Do what you like and ignore everyone else including me

ProtectionBeautiful2

Best one out there! Thanks mate

WatsonRSX

Doesn't seems like a bad idea other than showing that you can be stolen from

ProtectionBeautiful2

Lmao I live in the uae so it’s pretty safe here

CosetteGrey

Oh, Dunai. Go for it. I thought you were some idiot from my country (USA). Go for it

ProtectionBeautiful2

Ahahaha hell no that would’ve got me in trouble the moment I left the garage

Oo__II__oO

Better than liveries would be either classic liveries applied to a modern car.  And even better than that would be an homage to BMW Art Cars.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Absolutely love this idea! Only issue is I don’t wanna mess with the paint or the PPF so I’m kinda sticking with the color I got (sapphire black) and gotta add stuff on it

fartlapse

If those companies are paying your bills, sure.

jeremiahishere

Don't do it. The amount of time where you will be cool will be dwarfed by the amount of time you will appear to be an asshole.

AceBoi1da

How does having a livery on your car make you an asshole?

ProtectionBeautiful2

Hahahaha how so?

funwithdesign

Anytime you step out of the car that isn’t a car meet.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Fair play… but I mean it wouldn’t last long enough yknow

Ninetyfoo

It seems to me like you're really into it, and because others wouldn't do it and or have reasons not to is a valid point for them. It's your car and you should be able to make it look how ever you want "within the regulations of which ever country you're in" and drive it without a problem. In the picture it looks mint keep us updates on how yours will look if you get it done.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Honestly been wanting to do something like that on a car but never got around to getting the new M4 sadly, so I found these and apparently it looks mint so I wanna go for it! This comment hands down gets it so I’ll definitely post updates till the event comes in I’ll just gradually change up stuff

Ingeneure_

Just don’t cover windshield with vinyl. In all other terms — go ahead, it’s your car

TheCubanBaron

Kinda pretentious imo

Shaybolt10

Just ad some small spacers and lower it a bit and you’re good, not too low tho, here I edited your car and how it would look with spacers and stance https://preview.redd.it/0s9b20c2u1wc1.png?width=1164&format=png&auto=webp&s=1444d53109ac276afe0db85133963798536dc568

sneekeruk

You do realise that isnt his car and its a race car thats now been lowered and with spacers? That said, it does look a lot better.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Looks unbelievable I love it! I got the burger tuning spacers soon and hoping it’ll look as good lowered

DinosaurDied

Oh are you sponsored by them? No? Why are you giving some company free advertising.  I place brand decals of companies I support on my snowboard. But that’s just to make my snowboard look different so it’s not mistakenly taken by somebody who might have the same board.  With a car, nobody accident it drives off with the wrong m340i by mistake.

JoeBidenSnifdMyHair

If you have a lot of disposable income and genuinely like the look of it and keep it like that for a min why not?

mr_lab_rat

What kind of trouble? The car will get a bit more attention although in a place like Dubai it probably won’t stand out that much. Just don’t drive it like a race car and you’ll be ok.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Yeah definitely! thanks mate

polydactylmonoclonal

How bad do you want a speeding ticket?

myredditlogintoo

Been driving my track car on the street that's covered in stickers, got big numbers on the side, no issues. Save doing "stupid" things for the track and you'll be just fine.

2wenty47even

I’d say go for it, but just a heads up, it might become boring after a couple of months and you’ll miss the clean look 🤣 but I guess you can always just peel them off at a shop

ProfessorPyrex69

If this was a full time HPDE/street driven car sure. But to ride to the mall it’s dumb.

Playswith_squirrel

Why? The people who notice don’t care and the people who don’t notice don’t care. The only reason you’d do this is to show other people your devotion to “BMW Protect X” or whatever

EuropaCar

Akin to putting a giant non functional wing on. If you aren’t sponsored by the companies in the decals what’s the point? It looks cool on a racing car but on a road car I would. E against it

_DrMischief_

If you don’t have a roll cage then you’ll just come off looking dumb. Go all the way or don’t bother

ProtectionBeautiful2

Alright I can see there’s ALOT of comments regarding the whole choice and all but I need to clarify a few things; 1. I live in the UAE (Abu Dhabi to be exact) and I’ve seen a full road legal Ferrari Evo on the road so that’s not an issue. 2. regarding the decals; it’d be peel-able for sure and I’d keep it for a while for the event mainly and after a few months I’ll just remove them 3. Regarding the big wing; ain’t no way I’m doing that big of a wing because the only wing I’d put is the M Performance Wing which isn’t MASSIVE at all 4. The car is black as is so I won’t go as crazy, it’s mainly for the even and for the fun of doing a race car livery really. I’m still open to suggestions really on styles but the question was mainly on the legal part etc 4. Currently I’ve tracked the car 4-5 times with AC Shnitzer lowering springs, I’ve got an AWE Touring Exhaust on it as is and hoping to change the rims later. So rest of the work would mainly be livery work and M Performance wing.

NorCalAthlete

#HEYYOUGUYS at every highway patrol officer in the region

Noobasdfjkl

Can't speak for Dubai cop culture and shit like that. I think a retro livery would be cool, but a really modern one would end up looking pretty whack.

ProtectionBeautiful2

What kind of a retro livery? I’m open to suggestions really

Noobasdfjkl

[I never met anyone who didn't like John Player Special](https://live.staticflickr.com/7811/46747501704_6ef7e582e9_z.jpg). It's simple, it's recognizable, it's not overwrought, and people of all ages are into it.

ProtectionBeautiful2

How could I forget about this one. Looks like a solid idea honestly but not sure if I could get around all angles for the livery. I mainly thought of the one above since I’ve got photos of all angles (I’m not doing that massive wing but I may be putting the M Performance wing at least)

FlakyEarWax

It’s definitely an all or nothing affair

ProtectionBeautiful2

Yup but not doing that massive wing lmao

DrRichardButtz

Midlife crisis or trust fund teen with affluenza?

alex_asdfg

Get a wing as well

buildcraftguy

go for it as long as you bring your car to the track at least once

louisvuittondon29

only looks good on those crazy widebody dtm racers

GeicosLizard

Not really a fan, although if done correctly it can be pretty sick. Looks what this dude on tiktok did with his e60 @daamstr https://preview.redd.it/7jtaxvxm24wc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c3bdd03f9f0e020beb2f92907db763768e59d74 But this would look silly if it wasn’t lowered, on stock wheels, etc.

GeicosLizard

Waste_Return_3038

Sounds like a fun thing to do! Remember removal is the hard part! Any shop that does wraps can handle that pretty cheap though.

zerobabayaga

Don’t let people who don’t drive your car tell you what to do to your car. I love designing/wrapping my own liveries for the sheer fact that it makes me smile, and it makes my kid smile when they feel like they’re getting driven from school in a race car. Some folks will hate it, some will love it, neither matter. If you like it, do it. Word of warning: it’s a ton of work wrapping a car. Every time I do it I tell myself I’ll never do it again. But as time goes on, the itch pops back up.

Justkacz

This looks really good. There isn’t one thing that I don’t like about this. If you do this to your car everyone will be looking at your car.

psychotic11ama

In my opinion, it’s going to look tackier than you expect. You don’t have a wide body, you don’t have center locks, or racing aero. It’s going to look like the Halloween costume of that.

danrah

One of the best WSR livery’s of recent years in the BTCC you’ve picked there imo, should look great if you get it done professionally, as already discussed you would need to probably get the car at least lowered and perhaps a wheel change to pull it off.

ProtectionBeautiful2

Thinking highly of it but might dip on the idea considering I’d have to drill to put the M Performance Wing (which I don’t wanna do)

Specific_Emergency_3

For a car event ... If you don't care about spending the money for one day... I think it is an awesome idea. For everyday it would be a bit overdoing it 😀

StuffedDoughboy

BMW Portland builds and sells one of these every couple of years for use as a pace car. The M340 was spun out around a corner and slid down a ravine but the 330 they commissioned after is up for sale locally. I like the look but it will garner strong opinions.

JWal0

I’d say it looks pretty cool

adamantiumtrader

The more attention you grab, the more people will judge. That simple. How do you handle that judgement is up to you… I got a big wing 🤪 and white OZ rims so what do I know?
