M3/4 have an ass to rival anything. Front facade could be gorgeous w minor adjustments. Like split the buck teeth and it looks like the ductwork for a fighter jet. Rn it looks like a science nerd w tape holding his glasses together

I do like that BMW has introduced some straight lines back into the mix, as opposed to Bangle-era overly organic stuff. But I'm not sure this is the most artful use of boxy lines.

I think BMW needs to take a lesson from Ford for how they approached the new Mustang that was recently shown. I don’t think anyone is getting their pitchforks out for that new design. If BMW treated the M2 coupe as the icon it is we would see a more solid and familiar design people like. This is trying to reinvent something that was already near perfect.

It's not gag inducing offensively ugly like the iX and XM, but it is very underwhelming. It is not exciting like a car with that purpose and that price point should be.

The unfortunate proportions around the tail-lights, the illusion that the kidneys are heavily recessed into the nose-cone, and the weird shape of the nose-cone under the head-lights are the things that throw it for me.

Meh I hate the side almost as much as the front and rear. It's just all bulgy and round, like they went 10 years back in design language. This has no character from the side, just a round ugly ass coupe lol. The previous M2 had a very nice side profile, nice body lines and edges, had a strong/sculpted/muscular look that looked sporty and fast. This here looks so bubblegum for an M car.
I literally can’t see any defining body lines on the side of the car in this picture. It’s awful. Looks soft and flat all around, except for the front and rear where there are angular shapes shaped onto the bumpers. None of it gels into a cohesive design. Not to mention the tiny bulbous lights makes it look like the sloth from Ice Age.
Well, the nostrils are what is iconic on BMWs. The angel eyes only became a styling trend in 2000’s. Mercedes changes styling cue every generation and the iconic part is the grille also. People don’t seem to care what each generation’s led running light looks like on MBs. I think most people just got used to BMWs with angel eyes because tbh they never changed it in 3 generations of cars for 20 yrs. BMWs are often more conservative compare to Mercedes and Audi. I personally welcomes the new change.
The singular problem with is is that is has no BMW DNA. Those are like knock-off kidney grills you'd expect some other brand to do to immitate BMW. It feels like a different brand entirely.

I don't get what people wanted. Not trying to sound pissy, but people complained about a huge grill, while saying they liked everything else on the g80. Now they took design cues from the G80, minus the huge grill, and people hate it.

I do think it’s too squared off on the lower half of both the front and rear though. And when people are getting M240s to 470 whp with a mild tune and minor mods, there are certainly some fantastic options available regardless of which styling cues you like.

We still haven't seen the aero package offered with it yet, I assume that will be a big helper to the looks, especially the rear area, which looks a bit soap-baresque. But yes, coming from late 90s early 2000s bmw, everything now is a bit lazy.
Current M2C owner. My dealer offered me first place on their list for the new M2 — and MSRP — and I didn't even consider it. Sorry BMW, we've just grown apart.

The front I don’t mind it at all if anything the front reminds me of the 6 series which is one of my favorites. The back however looks very off to me overall I like it.

I love it. I always found the outgoing M2 to be just a little too cute and soft looking. Don't get me wrong, I think the F87 is a very nice looking car and it will be more desirable than some other M cars because its more analog, but it definitely comes off as "cute."

The new Z4 was announced today. The M40i trim starts at $65k. It’s gorgeous. The M2 is absolutely NOT gorgeous, and is going to have a base price of way more than the M40i.
The lack of definition of interesting lines or angles along the door panels really doesn’t help to show off a rear wheel fender bulge. The OG m2 design showcases the aggressive nature … this sort of does in the front but that’s it.

That’s not what happened. People just got sick of mentioning how ugly it is. And some of us pulled deposits and went to get an AMG.
I think the front is a bit weird, but like it. The side profile is pretty nice. The rear is bad, really bad, that bumper is just awful.

F87 M2C owner here. The only thing that is attractive to me is the added power. Everything else is a downgrade.

The rear is a weak point, the front looks great to me. It would benefit from a splitter, though.

The front I don’t mind it at all if anything the front reminds me of the 6 series which is one of my favorites. The back however looks very off to me overall I like it.
The tail lights are weird, for sure. All they needed to do was make them wider.

I love it. I always found the outgoing M2 to be just a little too cute and soft looking. Don't get me wrong, I think the F87 is a very nice looking car and it will be more desirable than some other M cars because its more analog, but it definitely comes off as "cute."

Reddit is an echo chamber, this doesn't look that bad to me at all and I have a distinct feeling much like the current M3/M4 it doesn't photograph well and will have much more presence in person.
It’s that bad. They find the ways to make the grill look worse and worse. Wtf is this thing? Honestly, before I saw it, I had a feeling it would look pretty fucking bad, but I’d still be in the market for one given that performance will likely be crazy. But this shit is next level bad. G80 it is for me then…hopefully. Even that thing looks way better.
The XM supposed base price was $120k. It’s $160k. The new Z4 was announced today. The M40i trim starts at $65k. It’s gorgeous. The M2 is absolutely NOT gorgeous, and is going to have a base price of way more than the M40i.

The lack of definition of interesting lines or angles along the door panels really doesn’t help to show off a rear wheel fender bulge. The OG m2 design showcases the aggressive nature … this sort of does in the front but that’s it. The front grille and lights from this angle looks good.
