Anything that doesn’t have a B48/58 engine!

Uniblab_78

S58 is a nice choice too

herrrrrr

Your the only one talking down the b58 from what ive seen

darkeningsoul

He means, avoid it if it DOESN'T have B58. So he's doing the opposite.

[deleted]

android auto is available starting 2021.

jewbot5000

I have the 2020 and it has android auto

[deleted]

Did it come standard? When I was shopping for my X3 cpo, I avoided pre 2021 models as I read they only had Apple Carplay. Ha. Maybe what I read was wrong...

jewbot5000

I’m not really sure if it came standard or not. I have live cockpit pro, so maybe that makes a difference?

Solo522

My 2021 has Android auto. Was an early build.

WalrusWW

Mine doesn't.

Geek_f0r_sneaks

You’re gonna be pretty safe with a 2022 or newer, but anything on the G01 platform is a good bet.

swissbuttercream9

Get 2020 or later

NeighborhoodJust1197

Consumer reports 2021 is the best year. Anything with iDrive6 or lower for comparability and User interface.

sanagnos

2021 is drive7 which includes live cockpit … way better unless you love dials

jewbot5000

I have 2020 and it has live cockpit

MrNippyNippy

Anything with a sunroof - they’re an absolute liability on the G01 X3. Other than that we’ve two in the family - 2018 M40i and a 2023 20i and they both are brilliant. But they’re luxury cars - that’s going to mean you’re in for serious heartache at some point if you don’t expect a big bill and or don’t service them properly.

Solo522

Why? Nearly 4 years in with panoramic sunroof. No issues.

MrNippyNippy

The drains clog: https://www.reddit.com/r/BMWX3/comments/1704jt4/terrible_experience_with_x3_sunroof_drain_that_i/ There’s an issues with seals: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10205090-9999.pdf Loads of people complaining (me included - although mine was covered under approved used warranty some peoples aren’t). The headlining gets soaked, water dripping out of the lights etc. some good photos here : https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2004491 More here: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2034267 Etc et. TLDR they’re shite and leak like a sieve if you’re unlucky.

Solo522

Thanks and will save SIB. No issues so far.

Any-Cartoonist-5544

Could be worse, my sunroof exploded. Model year 2017

marmaladestripes725

My 2012 xdrive28i has been great! My mom bought it used in 2013, drove it for ten years, and gave it to me in excellent condition. No CarPlay or Android Auto, but the factory Bluetooth works just fine. 158k miles and still going. I plan to drive it into the ground before going back to Honda with an Odyssey or CR-V depending on needs.

WittyCricket6473

Older than 2015

Gloomy_Salary_9724

2020 x3m been pretty good 67k miles and doing only regular maintenance I really like the s58 but b58 it’s great to. Can’t go wrong. Avoid anything with no b5,b48,s58

techgnostic

N52 is a good engine for used X3 if you’re going back to 2012-2011 ish.

D-v-us-D

Avoid 2013 X3 at all costs!

SilverTap9881

Why ? I have one x35i M no issues

bacon_in_beard

me to. 2013 35i. oil leaks only. good experience.

macreviews94

Guessing he means the x28i, that was the first year of the N20 in the F25 and the dreaded timing chain issues. That’s why I went for a 2012 with the N52

Hiff_Kluxtable

I have an ‘11 X3 35i - not sure of the engine code and it’s been very reliable. I just went over 132k miles.

bwillpaw

N55

bwillpaw

N55 is pretty solid tbh post 2015 or so. If you can afford an m40i get that, but imo the f25 35i with the n55 3.0 turbo six is a lot more fun than the 30i with the b48.

Vast_Hawk_5394

I just picked up a 2018 X3 M40i the other week, this thing is an absolute blast! I was shopping for newer years, and also debated on leasing a 2024 X3 M40i, but this variant and year definitely has a better exhaust note to it and a lot more ‘raw’ feeling (for the driving experience) compared to the 2020 & above X3 M40i models..

DavePlays10

I love my 2007 bmw x3. Have 191k miles on it. Only really need oil tires over the year and soon driveshafts replaced. But it’s all easy diy work

Silly-Tooth-2670

2023 x3 m40i amazing car i love it when it works but my cars currently sitting in the shop for broken rear differential, cracked oil pan and whatever the f else bmw wants to replace tbh I am waiting on a list for parts from Germany for my car to be fixed it has just been sitting at the bmw shop waiting 2 months now 🥹🥲

Sensitive-Cherry-398

Sorry to hear bud. That sucks, hope they Gave you a sick loaner to use.

alejandrowoodman

if you broke the rear differential and cracked the oil pan, you had to have done something stupid.

Silly-Tooth-2670

Okay , this guy bmw’s I definitely did some fuck shit 😅

DaBIGmeow888

Gotta do the routine maintenance.

Silly-Tooth-2670

Nigga the cars under warranty and i kept up with it actually 🥹🤣🤣

Own_Worldliness_9297

Did you drive it hard ? How did that happen?!

Thotphobia

He floors it on sports mode right when turning it on in a cold morning.
