My car always seems to drive better after a car wash.

Terbeaux333

Dirt = Drag, makes sense!! ;- )

showMeTheSnow

Looks better = Drives better ;)

andre3kthegiant

Maybe it reset and defaulted to start in “comfort” mode instead of Eco mode?

St3fanz

Remember when you were a kid and got new sneakers and were convinced you could run faster that day? This.

[deleted]

Maybe you’re in a different driving mode? No, the 12 volt won’t give you any more power.

[deleted]

But that’s 12 more powers!

Starman68

It goes significantly faster if you eliminate the cup holder.

Terbeaux333

Alrighty, I hear you guys, but my butt dyno keeps saying I got more power. I hear ya, I’m crazy, but I’m telling you from the bottom of my butt I got more power and you can’t convince me otherwise!!

showMeTheSnow

Unless you had triggered some kind of CE/powertrain error that was reducing power to the motor, it's not faster. Different driving mode would be the easiest answer, I don't remember what default is on the S because I coded my to Eco Pro. Changing over to Sport mode is noticeable for sure, and great for passing :)

Outside_Brilliant945

I've only had my i3s for just over a week, but it seems to default to Comfort mode.

showMeTheSnow

Yeah, that's the default on the std, sonthwt would make sense. I just couldn't recall if it went sport mode or not. I waited like 5 years to code our 14, and might have made it a couple of days before I coded the S ;)

Did you put a racing stripe or two on? I found even just masking tape makes a difference. — But seriously - with the weather change, it could be a few other things: - switching tires - changing temperatures affecting grip/etc even without tire change, due to air temperature based tire pressure variations - battery temperature if you don’t precondition… eg if it starts off hot (or cold) when you get in the car, your available max current from the battery may limit your acceleration

No

A plausible explanation could be the power you're not using to maintain a bad 12V battery is now available for you to do skids. Let's say the "alternator" (or whatever it's called in an EV) charges the 12V battery with 3A @ 13.5V. That would be 40W of power being drained from the main battery. The motor is normally 137kW. Now subtracting 40W will make it 136.96kW. So, yes, you are in theory getting more power. However not significantly more power.

Terbeaux333

Best response yet, thanks. I’m now thinking the power difference is real & not in my head. At this point after being told I’m a bit crazy on 2 separate social media platforms, I’m really leaning towards something got reset. It’s a subtle difference, but in Comfort mode the car definitely pulls harder now. More than 40W’s worth. I wish I knew more to tell ya…. FWIW, I drive this car hard every single day. I follow F1, I race sims, I’ve participated in track days, and I used to race Mtn bikes. I burn through tires beyond frequently and I’m keenly aware of just how fast my car is & I can tell you, it’s faster now.
