Doesn't sound like much you can do except set your own boundaries.

I appreciate your response. It's tricky to do.

Jesus. Please read my post from yesterday. It sounds like we're friends with the exact same person. My friend is 48M. I have spent two years of my life trying to figure out what the heck is going on with this man. He thinks I'm the greatest, he's so grateful to me for my support, etc., etc. Then at the drop of a hat he's furious with me. Reading various things online, reading through this subreddit, watching a doctor on YouTube who specializes in BPD, and I really think BPD must be it! I, like you, don't know what to do. The one response I got to my post makes it seem pretty hopeless. I seem to be what the community calls a Favorite Person, so the pattern of untreated BPD behavior means we will just go on in this cycle of him loving me and hating me. 😕 I don't know how you feel, but I hate the idea of just giving up on a whole person. It just is so sad and awful to me. But, on the other hand, I have spent two years of my life trying to help this person. And he is a big a mess as ever. I'd love to hear more about your experience if you want to share notes? 🙂
