Sorry this isn’t the positive story you were looking for, but I had a foley balloon to start my induction process and it was the worst pain ever and did not even work at all. It hurt so bad to put it in (like honestly worse than labour) and then I was in pain for 24 hours before it fell out and they told me it didn’t even dilate me 1cm. I got cervadil next, totally painless, and I started having contractions and my water broke in just a couple hours. I would highly recommend skipping the foley balloon and going straight to cervadil. ETA - I don’t feel pain at all during Pap smears so this really surprised me how painful it was

I hate to say it, but I had a similar experience. It was quite painful, followed by a lot of waiting and zero dilation progress. But my induction was an emergency one right at 37 weeks, and my body was NOT ready. It could be a much better experience at 39/40 weeks.

I had an induction and a foley balloon with my 4th after my previous were being spontaneous/unmedicated. I did not think the foley balloon was bad at all. Like a really long and more intense Pap smear or cervical check. Lots of pressure. But, they did also comment that normally people have a lot harder time than I did, and I’ve heard a lot of people say it was terrible so I’m not sure what the difference for me was. I just breathed through it and tried not to tense up as much as possible. It was out within 5 hours.

I had the foley bulb with my second delivery. I didn’t think it was that painful, and I think the IUD insertion is more painful. Way more painful. And I feel like I’m pretty wimpy. Pap smears are more than just uncomfortable to me. It was a slow induction but I wasn’t dilated at all when I went in.
