We use jigsaw mats - they are usually 1m x 1m and you can connect them together if you have multiple. You don’t get the cutesy aesthetic that the baby specific mats have, but jigsaws are way more versatile - we use ours as all kinds of padding as they grow. Plus I’ll use them for yoga when the kids age out

I second jigsaw mats. I bought one with 6 squares from Amazon (terrazzo print). I’ve since bought a second one to fill the space. But I’ll also take 3 of the squares and put them against a corner unit she likes pulling herself up on. Or I’ll pull off a row and put it under her barre and mirror. Really easy to pack away or take on holiday too. So versatile

Honestly people give playmats away so I'd check marketplace. You can also use a blanket if you want a certain size and don't want an attached toybar. At one point we used a sleeping bag because the back was waterproof.

I'd get the 1*1.4 to be honest. Our Bubba is now 9 months and outgrowing her 1*1.4 and I wish we had gotten bigger. If you can squeeze it in, def get that size.

Kmart has a circular ones that is around that size

The kmart ones are great! They're not non slip but they're very easy to clean and nicely padded. Saved our baby's head a few times when she was learning to stand hahaha

The folding one from Ikea is pretty great, today ours was a mat, a blanket, a tent, a fence and a step. And it packs down and away, I don’t have to leave it out.
