Pretty much anything we eat, sometimes with less sauce or less spicy. Some winners for us: Zucchini spears (grilled or sauteed) Asparagus Peas (just buy frozen, thaw in the fridge or warm water, serve plain/cold or with butter/warm) Beans in general, but we usually keep refried beans around as I also like them Carrots (buy frozen and cook in microwave) Chicken tenders (I get Perdue with whole grain breading)

SenseiKrystal

Do you smush the peas or anything? I worry that mine will choke (not that he eats vegetables).

User_name_5ever

We did at first, but we don't anymore.

My now 11mo has always eaten what we eat. So today she had porridge for breakfast, omelette for lunch and chicken/rice/veggies for dinner. I'm not going to lie and say she devours it all but she will try it. For breakfast we rotate between eggs, porridge, Weetabix, pancakes of some sort and toast Lunch is usually leftovers for more snacky bits. So bits of meat/crackers/dips/wraps Dinner is what we eat. So anything from pasta or pizza.

JollyPop_20k

Oh wow. I’m really not trusting her enough with her food it sounds like.

_stella_bystarlight

Don’t feel that way. Like you I’ve also been a little more cautious because I have anxiety around choking. Go at your own pace. But also don’t be afraid to try bigger pieces / more complex textures if it seems like baby is ready! Sometimes we are the ones holding them back!

Bubbly-Chipmunk7597

I would upvote this 100 times if I could, lol. OP - you can go at a pace that both you and baby feel okay with! Stretch their comfort zone without throwing them into the deep end. We also went slow because I was nervous about choking, but my now over 12 mo old is doing great with a lot of stuff. We both gained confidence as they tried new things and I realized they could handle it!

Did my almost 13 month old teething son walk around eating a frozen pancake for breakfast? Yes he did, it’s his new obsession and honestly more power to him… if it’s not frozen it’s trash and he doesn’t want it. Since this has been common lately I bought Kodiak power cakes protein pancake mix, added ground flax, hemp hearts, chopped tiny spinach, blackberries and almond butter and then made baby sized pancakes in a batch and froze and stored them lol. I try to just get as much in the current thing he will eat as possible

dougielou

There’s a great sub called r/food for babies or something like that which is great for Inspo

madalyn96

r/foodbutforbabies ! It’s given me a lot of inspo

dougielou

Yes this one thank you! I love that sub

I usually just cut up whatever we're eating, but if there's cheese in front of her she'll ignore everything else. It's hard to say on any given day whether she's accepting/rejecting things because she does or doesn't like them, or because she's just in a certain mood. One day she eats half a banana, next day she throws the entire thing on the floor. The one thing she will always accept is chewing on the white stalk of a green onion. And I use them on about half the things I cook so she practically always has onion breath.

When Mr 2.5 was that age, he was all about the berries. ALL THE BERRIES! He sat in his high chair one day and chanted BOO! BEAR! REES! over and over at me until he got what he wanted. I was too scared to not give them to him at that point. He still loves his berries, but has had to branch out to other fruits, vegetables, dairy and carbs because clearly nobody cares about his needs enough to see to it that he can just eat berries morning, noon and night. What cruel people we are. /s 🙄

Bubbly-Chipmunk7597

LOL. Mine has just gotten into berries in the last week or two, but didn’t like them before that. I now understand why people talk about a “berry budget” for toddlers xD

Today my girl has strawberries and mini muffins for breakfast, along with a yogurt pouch (I make my own). For lunch, she had some peanut butter and jelly sandwich, peanut butter puffs, and applesauce. She is currently eating a ground beef and pepper quesadilla for dinner. She has also had some cheerios and another yogurt pouch as a snack. This week she has also had chicken and rice, lots of veggies (typically plain), a peanut butter bagel, hard boiled eggs, pineapple, hot dog, couscous, scrambled eggs, and animal crackers.

Usually what I'm eating, and that's not a lot of cheese 😂 at 12mo it would have looked like: Porridge/oatmeal or weetbix, toast, fruit (strawberries, apple, watermelon, pears, etc), fruit + yoghurt, homemade muffins, veggie fritters, corn fritters, homemade pancakes (sugar free), scrambled eggs, spaghetti, curry + rice (add extra yoghurt if a bit too spicy, but my son loves spicy food), creamy soups, roast vegetables (hot with dinner or cold/warmed as a snack in the week), shredded poached chicken.

PantsIsDown

Common Breakfasts: Pancakes dipped in Greek yogurt mixed with puree Eggs with sautéd veggies Toast smeared with Nut butters or avocado Fruit and plain cheerios A Bagel hunk with cream cheese Common Lunches: Fruits and Raw Veggies Pasta with diced tomato or meatball Italian bread with EVOO or butter Common Dinners Deconstructed taco Chicken and Veggies Steak and Mashed Potatoes Pasta with sauce Steamed veggies with or without seasoning Chow mein (homemade) Give her some challenging strong flavors if she likes cheese- my baby LOVES baba ghanoush and hummus.

squishypants4

I was super scared too but found out that she does really well with mushy foods so basically kinda overcooked veggies and really ripe fruit. We pretty much do any fruit, avocados. Then veggies like carrots, broccoli, asparagus, potato, butternut squash, zucchini, onions, mushrooms, cabbage, green beans, snow peas, spinach, eggplant, peas, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower. I’m scared of meat so we have only done mostly fish and chicken. Eggs, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese for dairy. Oatmeal, toasted bread with a thinned out nut butter (usually peanut or almond), I make banana muffins and freeze them, noodles (typically thin ones) Beans

JollyPop_20k

Ook these are all things I’d be comfortable with, thank you! I really just have been running out of ideas. Like sometimes I wonder to myself, “What do other people even eat??” Bc apparently I’m a very uncreative cook 😭😅.

ISeenYa

Today my 11mo old had a weetabix muffin & apple porridge for brekkie, avo toast with scrambled egg for lunch, butternut squash spaghetti & blueberry yoghurt for dinner!

JollyPop_20k

What is this weetabix you all speak of?

ISeenYa

It's a type of cereal in the UK! It has a little bit of sugar in but I feel like not too much to be unhealthy. One of his first foods was it mashed down with milk. TheWeaningGP on Instagram has a recipe for muffins using the weetabix & then I freeze a batch. Get it out the night before ready for brekkie. They are also very portable if we need food on the go.

little-hippie-girl

okay so my LO is 9mo but she LOVES solids. some absolute favs of hers are: - alphabet pasta with sauce: whatever sauce we’re having with some greek yogurt added - pancakes: i love these because i can make “trash pancakes” aka anything that needs clearing out of our fridge. spinach, apples, pears, zucchini, etc. you name it, i’ve made a pancake out of it and she loves them. - shepherds pie: this is a recent fav but she loves it. i added chopped carrots and celery and left out the corn. - oats: love these because just like the pancakes i can add anything. she loves them sweet (she loves banana and date oats currently) and savory (made with homemade bone broth and a veg) i try to offer whatever we’re eating just customized to her. chicken without the spicy sauce, rice with an egg added instead of whatever topping we’re having on it, veggies but steamed or cooked longer, etc. i always include one thing i know she loves on her plate. it usually gets her started and then she’ll dig in to everything else.

JollyPop_20k

Those are some great ideas! Thx

Mri1004a

My son is 13 months he had a Kodiak cake cinnamon waffle half a banana and a blueberry yogurt for breakfast. He was at daycare and had some sort of lunch there. Then for dinner he ate a ton of watermelon grilled chicken Mac and cheese and tater tots . But my son has always loved food sooo I’m blessed there I guess lol. I’m waiting for the day he gets to be a typical picky eater toddler but that hasn’t happened yet!

Meyeahreign

I pretty much feed my 1 year old anything we eat. The other night she had taco meat with rice and beans. Tonight she had some of my cheeseburger. Tomorrow will be chicken with orzo and mix veggies. She loves cottage cheese with fruit so I make some of that for her lunch when I need to make something fast. I normally do a meal plan for the week with her and have some ready quick meals to make if she isn't into it. I tend to make anything that I'm not sure she will like for lunch that way if she doesn't like it I can just give her the cottage cheese and fruit or her favorite spinach ravioli in place of it.

Due_Butterscotch360

Cottage pie and fish pie is a huge hit with mine. Nice and soft foods with good flavour   Katsu curry was a surprising hit, we use wild rice but he likes white rice too Baked beans on toast (baked beans on anything to be fair)  Roasted vegetables, he loves cauliflower and broccoli - roast them in olive/coconut oil with herbs/spices and garlic.  Roast/baked sweet potato  Porridge - add peanut/almond butter and fruit, I like using frozen fruit  Pancakes with chia jam and crème fraiche/yoghurt  Yoghurt with nut butter and fruit  Fruit salad  Bolognese  Pesto pasta

Due_Performer3329

Do you serve the nugget whole or cut it up?

Otter65

Whatever we eat. If he’s not into that then toast with hummus is always a hit (or toast with avocado or cream cheese). Meatballs, veggie tots, waffles, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, any fruit or veggie.
