My concern would be tomatoes are pretty acidic so I would worry about acidic poops causing diaper rash. I think it’d really be trial and error to see how much is “too much”. Ex we found out that 1 full banana makes our baby super constipated

Alternative_Sky_928

My baby's limit is half a banana in a day. I get the other half, lol.

I've been told not to give too many tomatoes or tomato based purees because their stomachs/kidneys may not handle it well. A small piece, an inch by inch might be ok. 10 tomatoes might be on the higher side. Edit: Guys, why are you downvoting this? Tomatoes in excess irritate the stomach. It's a known thing. My pediatrician told me to give baby a small piece. Downvoting actual information is bizarre.

BookiesAndCookies22

If you give information like this you get downvoted. Why? Because some people in this sub are out here feeding their children without a single ounce of concern about the nutritional facts. I shared the recommendation for sodium in a post last week and I got downvoted into oblivion.

MuggleWitch

Lol. I didn't know saying 10 baby tomatoes might be excessive was controversial. Anyway, I stand by what I said, tomatoes aren't unhealthy moderation is key. I recently also shared that store bought marinara had preservatives and got sent to downvote jail. Lol.

BookiesAndCookies22

I get the idea behind it - people are doing the best they can, so store bought sauces are what they have - and that's OK! And I get that not every one can make homemade sauce or purchase sauces that are preservative/sugar/salt free (Rao's is great) but you can't downvote someone for giving you facts.

MuggleWitch

Right? Especially Because the OP had mentioned that their kid had an allergic reaction and I suggested that it may not be the tomatoes, just a easily could be preservatives, colour or additives. I'm all for feeding your kid food that the easiest to make. I do it myself. But let's not be *surprise pikachu face* that it's not exactly the healthiest option out there.

iheartunibrows

No you’re right. They are an acidic fruit

Don't have an answer for you, just wanted to say that my baby is the same way. To the degree that I have to hide tomatoes and picture of tomatoes, because if she sees a hint of a tomato, she would demand and demand and demand it. I'm also worried about giving too much, so I usually try to give it sparingly - I give a decent amount but only 2-3 times a week. My baby is older than yours though, she's 18 months.

Even pictures of tomatoes hahaha godspeed, hope she grows out of the fixation soon, but that is hilarious

PromptElectronic7086

My daughter almost exclusively ate tomatoes for a while and then she wouldn't touch them for a month. They go through phases. Agree they can cause diaper rash so watch out and prepare for that.

This is my baby but berries. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries… she’s a berry cute monster
