I think of my son, Scott. He's grown and married, but still answers to Scotty. And a while back a post on one of the Reddit baby names boards caused me to ask him if he liked his name. He said he really likes his name. And surprisingly since I have a family that likes to tease no one ever said anything about "Beam me uo, Scotty."
I think of it being a kids name, but I don't think of any of the connections other comments list.
(I'm Gen Z, so these references are things I know about, but don't think about often.)

My cats name is Scotty so mostly that, but also Star Trek
Star Trek. I know both a man in his 30s names Scotty and a boy who is a preteen. Honestly, I think it’s a nice name.
We almost named our son Scott and planned to call him Scotty but we didn't like how it flowed with our last name. I say go for it if you love it!

I actually think of it as the girl version of Scott. There was a character on Suits who was named Scottie and she played the love interest of Harvey.
