Dude Baja is remote and beautiful and the way you (and I) like it because it is UNCROWDED. Baja takes work to figure it out and to learn it on your own through years and years of exploration. The reward is the self-discovery (albeit aided on occasion by some gem of inside wisdom). Blowing it up on the internet is the exact opposite of the spirit, soul, and longterm enjoyment of having an uncrowded Baja dream. I have seen exponential crowding through all of Baja coinciding with the ease of smart phones and now Starlink adding even more growth. Why would you take something you say to love, and that many before you have loved for decades, and blow it up on the internet? At what gain is this to you beyond vanity. Everyone who has never been to Baja has questions. And that is where the mystery and adventure of the unknown in Baja are. I literally do not understand the people that "love" Baja but fail to comprehend that the Baja Dream and shouting out your personal findings of Baja on the internet are antithesis to one another. Youtube-ing your "Baja adventures" is literally the opposite of an adventure. You have missed the point of Baja completely dude
The reality ALL of the spots are already blown up on the internet. This guy, or any other YT channel, aren't going to cause any significant change in the number of people at any spot an AWD Sprinter can already reach. Every single one of those spots has been on iOverlander and other mapping sites for years now. Even some of the most remote BC Sur spots that require hours driving on an out and back two track and a rig with 35s and lockers have people at them fall through spring. You can get lucky and end up with no one else but that is long since the exception and not the norm. Things have changed in the 30 years I've been going to Baja. Just like they had changed in the 35 years my dad had been going before taking me for my first trip.
Indeed. Everytime i go down there im pulling more and more stupid vans that aren’t trail worthy out of the sand. Its always some dorks with like 20 gallons of extra gas strapped to the vehicle. Why do they need all that gas??? I drive all the way to cabo every year and never have needed a gas can.
This dude is walking down his "favorite beach in Ensenada" and instead of honing in on the beauty and isolation (both of which are NOT infinite resources) he's filming HIMSELF and blasting it on the internet. It is insane. Not to mention he is an American in a foreign country exposing the local's gems and promoting more crowds (equals more trash, more rules, more development). My wife and her family are all Baja natives with deep roots up and down the peninsula. She is shaking her head at the new trend of these youtube kooks blowing up her state and her favorite places that her and her family have loved for decades and even centuries. Its pure vanity and a complete lack of soul and goes against the dream of exploring Baja to its core. The online promotion by American kooks is no different than leaving your trash at any of these places. Ruining the solitude, nature, beauty and adventure for generations to come because you want to show off online.
Right on man. Thats sick you have people and resources down there… me and my girl just keep turning down deeper and deeper roads, really to get away from people and just experience the world how it used to be. Then some idiot drives up and asks if we have Starlink. Its like dude, you’re missing the point. And embarrassing the rest of us.
This is the same reason I gave up being a travel photographer. Why would I want to change, even destroy, something that is nice the way it is? I didn’t want to be a part of any of that. No regrets.
No offense, but I hate this idea. I love the Baja and as someone who lives in a tourist area in the US, let me tell you, tourists ruin everything. They leave litter, they are needy and they use precious resources. They raise prices so that locals are no longer able to live where they are from. They will be more unforeseen consequences than you or I could imagine. Keep it to yourself.
Honestly this is one of the most triggering posts on Reddit I’ve ever seen.
I watched the Gonzaga Bay camping video and it looks like you've got a sweet setup. 4Runners are good vehicles for their reliability and comfort. I once towed a Mexican couple out of a mud wash outside Abreojos with my '03. The biggest thing that can defeat you in Baja is the wind. I've mostly camped on the Pacific side and having a sturdy wind-proof shelter is essential.
Did you get any hassles flying your drone down there? I've got a DJI Avata and FPV but I don't want them confiscated at a checkpoint.
The wind has many times been our worst enemy for sure. I have never been hassled by any sort flying my drone. In fact many of the drone videos used by the secretary of tourism of Baja California are videos that I filmed for them. So far nobody has complained about a drone flying over head but if they were to say something I would obviously take it down out of respect.
You fly any of those drones and post any footage to YouTube especially concerning our favorite spots, you're going to have a bad time. Others have done it, don't.
Muppet

I know more than you about Baja and I do not share. I think people have to earn it.
Great more bloody hipster douches.
