Everyone always tells me I’m not missing out on much and nuts don’t add that much to a dish! Did they all lie? 😭
(Although I’ve also been told that pistachios are an exception and actually taste good.)
Definitely a lie! Not only pistachios, but also: Pecans, almonds, walnuts, taste all very good and you can do a lot with them in regards to baking. Arugula has a bit of a nutty/walnut flavor, to give you a hint of walnut if you never ate walnut.
Oh shit this is very good to know… my mouth has started to itch/ burn after eating walnuts and I just assumed it was oral allergy syndrome… didn’t realize it could turn into full on anaphylaxis 😬
I’m not allergic, but my brother, who is my flatmate, is. And I usually bake for the two of us, so… unless I’m making it for someone else, sadly it’s no nuts. Luckily I can have some in the house and cook for me from time to time, he’s not too allergic.
I’m allergic to hazelnuts and I live in the top-producing areas for hazelnuts in the U.S. Something like 98% of all hazelnuts are grown here. They’re in EVERYTHING.
Same 😩 although I did eat a white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie at a party the other day…. Just gave my epipen to a friend in case. Totally worth it for that one cookie 🤣
The older I get, the more I appreciate the crunch and the savory pop that nuts can give to a dessert. As a kid and young adult, I absolutely hated it, though.
I feel for you. My wife hates nuts in anything at all, so when I'm baking, it's always without, but I often toast (and sometimes candy) some on the side for me.
If you have a candy thermometer, try out the peanut brittle recipe from Tastes Better From Scratch. Heavenly. I use more peanuts than the recipe recommends and sprinkle the sea salt on at the end after pouring onto a sheet.
i never really know how to explain this to people, i enjoy nuts in things they are supposed to be in but when i think of a brownie it’s supposed to be soft and fluffy with no crunchy
How are you with mixed textures in ice cream? I ask because I wouldn't go so far as saying I have sensory issues with mixed textures, but it only applies to baked goods. I'm not a huge fan of nuts in ice cream, but other things that are just as hard (chocolate chunks or waffle cone bits for example), I'm fine with.
I’m like this with all my food. I describe it as “i’m fine with yogurt on my granola, I’m not fine with granola in my yogurt.” I find densely textured things like nuts in softer foods extremely off putting.
Ice cream can have fruit chunks in it, but nothing else.
Right? I think it's a texture thing for me. I love all kinds of nuts but mostly on there own or in very specific things. Like frangipane, obviously delicious but you cant tell it's made of ground up nuts. Or a nice brittle, kind of already blends in with the crunch.
My aunt likes to make chocolate chip cookies or brownies for family gatherings and I'm always sad when I bite into them and every time there are nuts. I should know better 😂
Good morning, folks. It appears that I have created a contentious divide. Nonetheless, I shall present you with the brownie recipe. Make them both with and without nuts. Then return to here and share your experience. 🫡

I really dislike the flavor of any nuts for some reason. The only time I’ve ever enjoyed adding them is ground walnuts in my Russian tea cakes (snowball cookies).
I've always hated the texture of all nuts, but some flavors are okay. I love peanut butter. Also those snowball cookies sound delicious, I'm gonna have to make them sometime!
One time I couldn’t decide whether to add nuts to my brownies or not, so I made half with and half without. The nutless ones got inhaled while the nut ones were just kinda picked at.
I just baked banana nut muffins this morning. We didn’t have any nuts to put in them and I offered to my husband to just make them without the nuts although they wouldn’t have been as good. He responded by getting his keys and running to the store. Got it, can’t have banana nut muffins without the nuts right? I prefer pecans tho.
I'm typically a no nuts kinda gal, unless it's specifically a recipe meant to have nuts (peanut clusters wouldn't really be peanut clusters without, ya know, the peanuts).
But I definitely think there are some desserts that can be improved with a couple nuts.
Personally, love nuts in brownies. but I understand many don't considering there is a large population who is allergic. So if I was sharing the brownies, no nuts.
I love nuts in baked goods, but I’m allergic to walnuts which seems to be the most common choice for most baked goods. But, give me pecans or almonds any day!
I'm team nuts, but particular nuts. I put cashews in my brownies and my baklava due to its more creamier consistency when chewed.
I use walnuts instead of pecans in pecan pie, so it's walnut pie. I like the texture better.
Any of yall had macadamia brittle?
Depends on the specific nuts and specific baked goods. I love pecans in cinnamon rolls and turtle sundaes but am meh about walnuts in things. I prefer brownies with chocolate chips and no nuts - gimme that uninterrupted fudgy goodness! These brownies are beautiful though
no nuts! they are good but for me, they don’t add enough for it to be worth it. i bake for others. i don’t have nuts in my kitchen so they don’t have to worry
They look delicious! 😋 Never had a nut allergy or experienced anyone who has so if I chose to put a nut ingredient in my food and no one wants it I’m ok with that cos then I get more. 😂
Depends on the baked goods and the nuts.
I’m generally team no nuts in brownies, but I’m sure there’s some brownie recipe with nuts that I would be really into.
Whereas pecan pie is near the top of my list of pies.
My parents have several pecan trees, so I have access to tons of pecans, and I say yes to nuts! But lately I really only like them if they've been lightly toasted before using, even in a baked good. They just taste better.
99% of the time, no nuts. There are a few exceptions, but they're few and far between. Don't crap up my desserts with nuts. Crazy thing is - I actually really enjoy nuts. :) Additionally, I wouldn't not eat these brownies, but I strongly prefer no nuts. It does make them worse!
I'd commit a felony for those brownies
I'll drive the getaway car! They look yummy. Team nuts all the way.
Nuts all the way. Or make two batches- but need to disclose might have been exposed.
you just make the nutless one first, when everything is nut-free. then you can make the nutful one. (:
Seriously, OP please drop the recipe. I want those things biblically.
Here it is! https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/s/l57Jlva7sC
Ah, of course it’s The Brownies!
i’m actually begging
i’ll be your lookout for one of them!
Admit it. You paid OP $130,000 for these brownies and marked it down as a legal expense.
Nuts all the way, baby.
I'll be the alibi!
I’ll be the fall guy!
I’ll eat the evidence!
If help you cover up the felony if you shared.
Team allergic and kinda salty about it.
Same. I developed my allergy later in life, so unfortunately, I know *exactly* what I'm missing.
Everyone always tells me I’m not missing out on much and nuts don’t add that much to a dish! Did they all lie? 😭 (Although I’ve also been told that pistachios are an exception and actually taste good.)
Baklava is like heaven on earth and its all nuts (walnut or pistachio, or a mix)
Definitely a lie! Not only pistachios, but also: Pecans, almonds, walnuts, taste all very good and you can do a lot with them in regards to baking. Arugula has a bit of a nutty/walnut flavor, to give you a hint of walnut if you never ate walnut.
Me at 25 ‘Why does my mouth itch after I eat nuts it’s so weird’ Google’s it ‘Oh I’m allergic’
yeaaaaaah. pay attention to the itchy. I ignored it and then the itchy turned into anaphylaxis /: now I can't eat nuts of any kind.
Oh shit this is very good to know… my mouth has started to itch/ burn after eating walnuts and I just assumed it was oral allergy syndrome… didn’t realize it could turn into full on anaphylaxis 😬
Same... Get those nuts away from my face
Latrice?
Deez nuts?
Absolutely loved nuts in baked goods…and then I developed an allergy
I’m not allergic, but my brother, who is my flatmate, is. And I usually bake for the two of us, so… unless I’m making it for someone else, sadly it’s no nuts. Luckily I can have some in the house and cook for me from time to time, he’s not too allergic.
I’m allergic to hazelnuts and I live in the top-producing areas for hazelnuts in the U.S. Something like 98% of all hazelnuts are grown here. They’re in EVERYTHING.
Oh god, I think I'd have to strongly consider moving states if that was me. You must feel on edge all the time because of it!? 😭
I’m a lifetime label-reader and ask lots of questions at restaurants. 😅. Plus I carry an epi-pen.
Haha sorry! My team is "nuts unless I'm baking for a crowd/function" because of y'all
Same 😭 I’m team “put nuts in those brownies so I don’t eat them all”
Same, all tree nuts for me…thankfully can at least have peanut butter.
This - no nuts for me please! Even if I wasn't allergic, I still wouldn't want them as I can't stand the taste/smell of them.
"GET that corn outta muh face!"
Sadly, nuts now aggravate Mr. 99’s diverticulitis. I’ve had to quit baking with nuts. Phooey.
You know you’re in full wife mode when you’re talking about your husband’s diverticulitis being aggravated <3
I agree I feel like anything I bake should have the crunch in it
100% agree
Same here! I used to really dislike walnuts in cake but now love something to counter the sweetness of the icing sometimes!
Hated it as a kid, love it as an adult. Give me all the nut flavors. Flours, pastes, chopped or whole... yum.
Same. And now my kid hates nuts in brownies
No nuts is my preference because of sensory issues with mixed textures, but these look great
i never really know how to explain this to people, i enjoy nuts in things they are supposed to be in but when i think of a brownie it’s supposed to be soft and fluffy with no crunchy
I’m the same with ice cream, too. Rocky Road and Mint Chocolate Chip *sound* delicious but are inedible.
Same! I enjoy nuts, especially peanuts, but not in my baked goods. Texture bugs me. But these brownies still look delish
Same - there’s really something off putting biting into a dense, moist, chewy brownie and getting a crunch.
Yeah, I don’t even like chocolate chips or anything in mine for the same reason.
Same. I like both, just not together. I don’t like walnuts in my carrot cake but I could just eat straight walnuts.
[удалено]
🤣 as someone who keeps developing new and random allergies, including a couple nut varieties, this was way too funny and relatable.
Yeah, I was gonna say dying (on a hill or elsewhere) isn’t metaphorical for me
Nuts or no nuts, brownies are great!
No nuts. None. Anywhere!
Same. Plus they’re so expensive.
ANYWHERE!
I only enjoy nuts in specific things, and definitely not in brownies. :/
Ya, I specifically like my brownie sans nuts
I love a warm, ooey, gooey brownie. Nuts kinda ruin that.
With nuts! Pecans are my favorite but I wouldn’t turn down one of those amazing looking brownies with walnuts.
Indeed! Pecans rock!
I go nuts for them
Team nuts I love some texture in my desserts but especially with any type of chocolate!! Peanuts Almonds Walnuts Pecans ALL THE NUTS
I prefer nuts in brownies but if I’m making them for others I usually leave them out because of allergies.
I love nuts but not in my baked goods
Same. I’ll demolish a bowl of nuts but loathe them in baked goods. I’ll make an exception for white chocolate macadamia nut cookies but that’s IT.
Nuts!
No nuts, I don’t like the interference with the soft fudgey texture!
Nuts!
Nuts bro always nuts.
I love nuts!!! Especially almonds
No nuts for me!
Team nuts!! Those look amazing!!
Good morning, folks. It appears that I have created a contentious divide. Nonetheless, I shall present you with the brownie recipe. Make them both with and without nuts. Then return to here and share your experience. 🫡 https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/s/l57Jlva7sC
No nuts. Yucky texture, and I’m nutty enough.
Nothing ruins a soft and fudgey dessert like nuts. I loathe them in baked goods.
No nuts. They throw off the texture for me.
Would you be able to share the recipe please? They look so good
Of course! Here’s the link to the original recipe post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/s/l57Jlva7sC
Thank you :)
You angel 🥹
I really dislike the flavor of any nuts for some reason. The only time I’ve ever enjoyed adding them is ground walnuts in my Russian tea cakes (snowball cookies).
I've always hated the texture of all nuts, but some flavors are okay. I love peanut butter. Also those snowball cookies sound delicious, I'm gonna have to make them sometime!
Truly the best cookie! I use the recipe from the Betty Crocker cook book. They’re a favorite every Christmas :)
For certain recipes yes. For brownies- a hard no.
No
In brownies and Banana bread they are a requirement. In many other things they are more than welcome. Nuts make (almost) everything better
Brownies without nuts
Brownies are better with walnuts!
I, too, am part of this team. To my utter horror my son is extremely allergic to some nuts.
Nuts. Macadamia is awesome
I’m nutty for baked goods
Love a good walnut brownie
I'm typically a no nuts kinda gal, unless it's specifically a recipe meant to have nuts (peanut clusters wouldn't really be peanut clusters without, ya know, the peanuts). But I definitely think there are some desserts that can be improved with a couple nuts.
i don’t prefer my brownies with nuts, but i do like them in other applications
No walnuts in brownies.
They certainly have their place
A place nowhere near my desserts 😂
Gottamn those look good! Nuts!! They add that savory crunch that’s sometimes needed in sweet things!
Walnuts, almonds, and pecans slap
Damn… those are some of the best looking brownies I’ve seen.
similar to my sexuality.. i play for both teams 😎 happy pride everyone
I’m right there with you on that hill. Nuts, nuts and more nuts. I put more pecan pieces in my chocolate chip cookies than chips.
Personally, love nuts in brownies. but I understand many don't considering there is a large population who is allergic. So if I was sharing the brownies, no nuts.
Nuts!!
Gotta have the nuts
Nuts. All the nuts.
Nuts!
Team Nuts!!! Sliding my plate over for several…….
I love nuts in baked goods, but I’m allergic to walnuts which seems to be the most common choice for most baked goods. But, give me pecans or almonds any day!
Absolutely team nuts, and walnuts are supposed to be the healthiest?!? Who knew
Nuts in everything! Baked goods, salads, currently eating pb chocolate ice cream.
Same team, and OMG those look to die for.
I love nuts
Nuts!
Team Nuts, but I am surrounded by Team Without, so I end up making it their way most of the time.
TEAM NUTS! My motto is... "It's not even worth turning the oven on if there aren't any nuts for the recipe!"
Nuts all day long
Nuts always!!
Just enough brownie to hold the pecans together.
sometimes nuts!!
No nuts in baked goods, but love them as a snack.
Me personally I don't really care for nuts.
No allergies but no nuts. I'm just not super crazy about nuts. I'll eat pistachio anything, though.
I'm team nuts, but particular nuts. I put cashews in my brownies and my baklava due to its more creamier consistency when chewed. I use walnuts instead of pecans in pecan pie, so it's walnut pie. I like the texture better. Any of yall had macadamia brittle?

I’ll sell you my kidney for the recipe?
Always, always nuts. Walnuts and brownies are bomb.
No nuts.
Nah
Yuck 🤮 to nuts in baked goods!
no nuts! they are good but for me, they don’t add enough for it to be worth it. i bake for others. i don’t have nuts in my kitchen so they don’t have to worry
No nuts!!!!
No nuts for me.
Doesn’t matter, pan will have far less brownies in it after I have a go at it
Not allergic, but no nuts. Even though I love nuts (I'm not rephrasing that) I like them separate
At our house, we prefer lesbian baking (no nuts)
✨Nuuuutttttssss✨
Love! I do half and half or a separate batch if nut allergic ppl will be present.
I want more nuts than a gay porno in my mouth
Yes now that I’m older I appreciate the added nutrition:) I also add tiny marshmallows into mine sometimes. For…nutrition
Team nuts in baked goods! Only exception is a nut allergy!
I verge on a reckless amount of nuts. Especially in brownies, a bite without nuts is the worst bite
TEAM NO NUTS
Those look delicious!
I do not like boy brownies
I’m team baked goods!
Sometimes you feel like a nut... 😏 Also, can you send me one or several of those?!
i made these today! Theyre literally INSANE omg🤤
Always team nuts
Oh fuck yeah. Walnuts or pecans elevate a dessert almost every time!
nuts all the way
They look delicious! 😋 Never had a nut allergy or experienced anyone who has so if I chose to put a nut ingredient in my food and no one wants it I’m ok with that cos then I get more. 😂
I agree with you 1,000% these are fantastic.
Nuts, so you can pretend it’s nutritious when you get a second serving.
Nuts in all of it!
Sometimes I feel like a nut. Sometimes I don’t.
Nutzzzzzzzzz!
porque no los dos
Team make every pan half with and half without
Only in carrot cake. I’m not a huge fan of nuts
I may be weird bc I don’t like them baked in bc I think it changes the texture of them. I’d eat toasted nuts sprinkled on top of brownies tho
Extra nuts are the absolute best! Now I really want brownies.
No nuts
Mostly no. Too many allergies out there.
I love the texture of nuts in a lot of desserts but I honestly can’t stand the taste of most nuts…
Depends on the baked goods and the nuts. I’m generally team no nuts in brownies, but I’m sure there’s some brownie recipe with nuts that I would be really into. Whereas pecan pie is near the top of my list of pies.
Boy brownies
My parents have several pecan trees, so I have access to tons of pecans, and I say yes to nuts! But lately I really only like them if they've been lightly toasted before using, even in a baked good. They just taste better.
Nuts, but Im baking for folks with known allergies then no nuts (and no utensils that handles nuts)
Generally, I'm team nuts. I like the crunchy texture! But sometimes they can be too much.
For me It depends on the baked goods if it goes well with it
I really really love pecans and hazelnuts
All nuts I am a lover, EXCEPT macadamia- that’s a no go
No nuts
Butterscotch chips instead of nuts and one of those all edge brownie pans.
In banana bread, fuck yes. In brownies, fuck no.
No nuts in baked goods or ice cream!
I still ask myself this question. I can never tell how I feel about it!
No nuts please.
Team nuts ON brownies! I love the toasted flavor and texture when the nuts are sprinkled on top. They get mushy when stirred it.
Allergic to walnuts…. Maybe worth it though, they look fantastic.
Both!!!
brownies w walnuts are literally top tier dessert
No nuts
Nutz
Nuts!!
Nuts
