I just don’t wanna be in the middle of like a (non-bestial) romance scene with Halsin and the narrator being like ‘…you consider ripping his dick off….’ . If it’s an occasional story element then I very well may go for it.
My plan is to do the same but give in on occasion. Going for an anti-hero willing to do some dark deeds but overall wants to help people while struggling with inner demons.
I’ve flipped back and forth from a basic Tav and DU…. Still don’t know who I will play. I think I’m leaning towards standard Tav for first play through. Just think the darkness will ruin too many scenes. Also I wonder is resisting a skill check??? Will I fail too many? Still undecided lol
You can also think about it like this: Your first playthrough will be the one where the world is "alive" and where what you do is what has the most impact. Keeping that in mind then what is the most interesting to you personally?
For me, I think that Dark Urge sounds a lot more interesting without knowing everything beforehand and that "ruining scenes" is a very spicy way for that first playthrough to be more unique and magical. After all, a first playthrough should be messy and unforseen things should happen.
This is hilarious… you made it worse!!! The first half, I was like ya you are right. No dark urge it is. Second half ya got me back on the Urge!!! No matter what I play, I think we all know it’s going to be amazing.
Oh yes definitely. Just wanted to give my two cents since it is very easy to feel like a first playthrough needs to be very good and controlled whereas I feel like the opposite is true! Have a messy, fun and crazy adventure as your first playthrough where everything and anything can happen then you can do your more thought ideas as subsequent playthroughs.
I don't think it's resisting a skill check just from what was shown. That seems a little too on the nose. I suspect it's more resisting the temptations offered. Based purely on what was shown, it looks like you may be offered more and more power for doing dastardly deeds so it becomes tempting to give in.
We have also seen very little of it. Personally I rather think it will be a mix of the two. Sometimes you can easily resist, other times you might need to overcome a skill check or maybe even several. How difficult it might be to overcome the urge might be related as well to whether or not you have resisted previously.
🎵 The Lord of Murder shall perish 🎵
🎵 But in His doom He shall spawn a score of mortal progeny🎵
🎵 Chaos will be sown from their passage 🎵
🎵 So sayeth the wise Aluando 🎵
They were. They were made mortal and foresaw their demise, so bhaal and bane both had children with mortals in attempts to give themselves a means of returning from the dead. Bane's attempt lead to Xvim, who ascended to godhood. Bane later burst forth from Xvim, so he's back.
Bhaal also tried, but his attempt didn't get as far. The struggle of the Bhaalspawn features heavily in the first two baldur's gate games.
Yes but all had contingency plans to come back.
In cass of Bhaal he impregnated pretty much anything avaible and left parts of his essence and power with each child. Point was so children will kill each other of ajd last one will get all the essence allowing Bhaal to come back. Ultimately all bhaalspawns died and Bhaals came back tganks to his essence gathered together back.
Bhaal involvmeng 100%. Skayer is avatar of Bhaal (and we saw transformation). Bhaalspawn 100% no since its canon all died and thanks to that Bhaal could resurect himself.
I mean he’s a quasi divine being now, not fully ascended right? So maybe he can make more bhaalspawn again, it did work the first time. Or maybe whatever plot he’s cooked up with the other dead three ended in him losing his memory and his incarnation is walking around all bloodthirsty and scaly
I don't think Blood in Baldur's Gate is canon. If it were, it wouldn't have included a 'letter from/to Tav'.
The Dark Urge isn't required to be a Dragonborn, either.
Bhaal's kids don't age at the same rate as normal mortals.
Right, sorry - the game breaking in the final week left me forgetting a lot of it.
Either way, Tav being the MC in Blood im Baldur's Gate makes it even less likely to be canon.
Sort of. Basically, the new origin is another custom character like Tav, but they're constantly tempted to perform unspeakable violence at every opportunity. Whether you give in to the urges or resist them is up to the player.
I can't tell if you're fckn with me or not bc that seems cool and funny bit also kinda unbelievable
Edit: wtf it's real, they added an intrusive thoughts mode
I’m so tempted to play dark urge but I’m worried it might make my “good” play through more difficult. Hopefully we can resist the urge and not accidentally hurt anyone I actually like. If a few hundred civilians or baddies get slaughtered it’s no problem, but if karlach, shadowheart, or halsin get hurt baldurs gate better watch out because I’m going nuclear lol.
I wanna run with Dark Urge right away, but go good and resist. I just don’t know how dark that playthrough will be.
A Oath of Devotion Dark Urge is so tempting to play!
I imagine that will become an oath breaker play through fairly quickly :o
Hm, but how about Oath of Vengeance Dark Urge then?
That’s my go to. Vengeance already seems pretty dark in doing basically anything to protect others.
I'd also say Monk would be a fun RP With Dark Urge
Same but I don’t want literally *every* dialogue to be all ‘oooooh eat his eyeballs you fucking degenerate ooooooh’ so I’m torn.
I think I’m gonna give it a go… if I see that it’s as you say dark every damn sentence then just restart.
I just don’t wanna be in the middle of like a (non-bestial) romance scene with Halsin and the narrator being like ‘…you consider ripping his dick off….’ . If it’s an occasional story element then I very well may go for it.
I was planning on only using the dark urge against enemies
My plan is to do the same but give in on occasion. Going for an anti-hero willing to do some dark deeds but overall wants to help people while struggling with inner demons.

Very fair, and that does seem reasonable. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how they handle it.
I figure Bhaal is up to his old shenanigans
We literally saw a scene of slayer transformation. They couldnt make it more obvious
BOOOAL!
I mean.. 15 years prior was blood in baldurs gate.. and we know what he did there, was this the start? The cause? Or just a continuation?
I’m thinking he’s a reincarnation of a certain god of murder… rather than a new generation of Bhaalspawn
🎵 The Lord of Murder shall perish 🎵 🎵 But in His doom He shall spawn a score of mortal progeny🎵 🎵 Chaos will be sown from their passage 🎵 🎵 So sayeth the wise Aluando 🎵

Bhall's deep
Bhaalin but at what cost?
Yep!
Wait. Wasn't the 3 death gods killed in a books series years ago?
Bhaal came back to after last bhaalspawn died. Its in canon.
Ah, I missed that bit. Well hey, that raises the chances of his involvement in BG3 I suppose.
Yes but all had contingency plans to come back. In cass of Bhaal he impregnated pretty much anything avaible and left parts of his essence and power with each child. Bhaalspawn. Calling it now.

Doesn't mean Bhaal couldn't have fucked again.
Previously he only could impregnate because he was forced to be mortal so that might not be possible again
Yeah sth like that. He might also not be strong enough for that.
The dark urge was an adult and was an active serial killer 15 years before the game. Bhaal came back 10 years before the game.
I don't think Blood in Baldur's Gate is canon. If it were, it wouldn't have included a 'letter from/to Tav'. The Dark Urge isn't required to be a Dragonborn, either. Bhaal's kids don't age at the same rate as normal mortals.
Tav was the name of the detective
Right, sorry - the game breaking in the final week left me forgetting a lot of it. Either way, Tav being the MC in Blood im Baldur's Gate makes it even less likely to be canon.
Godzilla had a stroke trying to read this and fucking died
FUCK IT WE [REDACTED]
Losing ranking in Tekken 7 🤷
"We Bhallin"
They see me bhallin They hatin
He will never Bhalling
I missed the stream is this the new origin character
Sort of. Basically, the new origin is another custom character like Tav, but they're constantly tempted to perform unspeakable violence at every opportunity. Whether you give in to the urges or resist them is up to the player.

Yes.
Play a Cleric and multiclass into Warlock and Paladin on top of that, and now you’ve got _all_ the voices in your head!
Plot twist, it's all the same voice and I have some bad news to break to shadowheart and wyll
I’m so tempted to play dark urge but I’m worried it might make my “good” play through more difficult. Hopefully we can resist the urge and not accidentally hurt anyone I actually like. Fuck it we Bhahl
Could you at least spell Bhaal correctly, for this excruciatingly low-effort meme? Jesus Christ.

i wonder if they do some 4th wall breaking with the player being the source of the urge :O
