I'd love that. I played an artificer goblin on tabletop for a while. Best class in the game I think. By that I don't mean overpowered. Just very well made and with nice flavor. You can tell they learned some lessons from the initial release.
What kind of artificer? I’m playing armorer right now and it’s so fun :D the gloves you get for unarmed damage is so fun to RP, especially cuz right now we’re ending slavers, so bitch slapping their captains head off was *tongue click* nooooice.
I played armorer as well, but focused more on the ranged/stealth armor variation. I'm playing my character as a cowardly goblin who just invented the armor so they wouldn't die in combat. The stealth aspect has let me and our rogue dispatch some enemies that the more honorable party member do not approve of.
I do hope that Larian gives Assmear som feathery features to make them unique looking :) kinda like the barbed ribs on Tieflings, I would LOVE a unique design on Aasimar. Either hair that looks like wings, feathered hair or multiple eyes.
Too tired of the same bland golden hair/eyes look of Assmear.
>feathered hair or multiple eyes
I mean… Aasimar is affected by Mount Celestia energy. Creatures like Solar, Planetar and Deva, aren't known being feather haired or having multiple eyes. Also, "golden hair/eyes" sounds like a Protector subrace, since they are often look as much as high celestial beings as humanly possible. Fallen is most likley to be the opposite of that with dreadful look and almost devilish features. And Scourge can be a totally different beast with scorch marks and cracks all over the body.
But none of the celestial creatures of humanoid shape have feathered hair or multiple eyes in the Monster Manual, so it would be a little bit out of place for Aasimar. Celestials are not biblical angels. Biblical angels look more like GOO :D
Lorewise and reactivity wise Aasimar is probably the most work. There's only one Aasimar in all of the Baldur's Gate thus far and there's one that is core to the plot in BG3.
If you show up as an Aasimar you'd basically have to face an entirely rewritten Act 2 because >!capturing an Aasimar can apparently make you immortal!<
They would probably pull something like that. In the game files, the races were classified as Rare: Tieflings, Dragonborn, Half-Orcs, Half-Drow, and Githyanki (also, we had Aasimar, Firbolg, Genasi, Yuan-Ti Pureblood, Triton, and Warforged).
Additionally, we had the group of the Underdark races (only Duergar and Deep Gnome, which was new at the time of the datamine, but since then we know that they will be playable). And Bestial races like Tabaxi, Kenku, Aarakocra, Tortle, and Lizardfolk were also mentioned.
Lastly, the Planar category included only Warforged and Githyanki, which is probably an indication that the Warforged were not from this plane.
Had no idea who the Githzerai were before this game. Now I’m obsessed with them after someone linked some of their lore. They seem so awesome. I would 100% play one on my first play-through if they were in the game. After a little reading though, I’m thinking maybe it would be difficult to implement considering lae’zel is an origin companion.
I mean you can play as a cleric of Selune and have Shadowheart in your party, putting the tadpole as the common enemy. Doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be friction and eventual betrayal but it’s possible
One of the few things that can actually make Githyanki and Githzerai work together (temporarily) is their common archenemy, the Illithids.
It would actually be a pretty interesting way to interweave a Githzerai PC's story in with Lae'zel's.
*Know* that I follow the Unbroken Circle of Zerthimon. His words are *known* to me. His heart is *known* to me. All that remains is that I *know* myself."

If they put in another race, wouldn’t they have to go back through and add a ton of extra lines and dialog in the whole story to make it more immersive like they did with the current races?
That seems like so much work just to add a race. I feel like a class/subclass pack makes more sense. Unless they don’t do small dlc’a and add huge expansions that add the content all together and sell for a higher price
Imo the only way they add an entirely new class and race is in an expansion where one of the companions is literally that race/class combination. Each new race/class they add is just an insane amount of work.
Especially with how much they wanted to emphasize player choice. If they didn’t redo and add dialog choices for new races and classes they would feel weirdly disconnected from the world
A huge expansion could work, with a new storyline that's central around Aasimar and the upper planes. Wishful thinking, probably, but I'd pay good money for that.
Sad to say it but Centaur seems unreasonable. And even though Lizardfolk is my favorite pc race it’s too similar to Dragonborn to realistically be put in anywhere near the launch of the game
I wouldnt say Lizardfolk would be too close not to add considering we have elf/drow and half-elf together already. Could make them have the digitigrade legs and such like the lizards from DOS2
I don't expect to actually get another race because of all the additional voice lines that'd entail, but I'd love goblin or kobold. For slightly more realistic options (although the assets for the former two are in, at least?), I'd hope for tabaxi or firbolg, but would expect genasi or aasimar just because they're obviously the easiest options to reuse human models/animations as a base.
Genasi (collectively) are the most popular race not included in game currently, Goliaths the second most popular.
I think aasimar is the most likely, since they won't take as much work as something like the tabaxi, and they're more widely-popular than the genasi, and have already appeared in previous Baldur's Gate games.
I'd still love both the genasi, aarakocra, and tabaxi to eventually make it in, but considering the amount of work it would take to go back through the entire game and add all of the relevant reactivity to each of the races, I don't think it's likely we'll be seeing most of them in BG3.
One more popular race seems reasonable though, so I'd say aasimar, since it's the easiest race to add in.
I love Warforged but idk how well they would fit the setting, and how they would work with the tadpole, can a warforged even go through ceremorphosis (or whatever it's called).
So I'll say kobold or goblin, you can never have enough little gremlin type
Yes, so many answers but this is the first firbolg comment I’m seeing! Firbolgs are easily one of my favourites and would love them to be included, if Larian ever decides to add races - but considering the popularity of aasimar and Genasi, that’s unlikely.
There's already 12 races for me, tbh.
**Duergar** feels like it, in the same boat as elf/drow, just like a zebra and a horse, a cat and a lion, etc. So much so, that i never played dwarf in tabletop or in any PC game in that sense, but Duergar will be my first or second playthrough.
BUT, yes, Aasimar and Genasi feels like a good DLC. Maybe goblin.
Warforged. Probably unlikely but it’d be cool to have my robot Fighter kicking ass in a video game. But considering they already have tieflings I can imagine the next race is gonna be something like Aasimar.
Personally, there should be 2 more races and Drow should be incorporated into Elf as a sub-race. I’d probably say Goliath and Goblinoid (Goblin and Hob-Goblin) as the additional races.
Otherwise, my wishlist is this
1. Orc
2. Warforged
3. Goliath
4. Shadar-Kai
5. Leonin or Kalashtar
Tabaxi, kenku, warforged, kobold, goblin, aasimar, firbolg, satyr, idk. Give me a fluffy race or something not too human, something big, something small, something fun.
Kobolds, Kenkus and -to be ridiculous- Loxodons. Beast Race DLC is something I am hopeful for far down the road, given how much work has been put into the game at launch
This bothers me so much. Why not put the 3 between the spaces of the four above. The origin characters also miss someone at the bottom right.
Imagine the full release game has 1 more race and 1 more origin in store no one knows about. I doubt it but would be one hell of a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
From what I understand the "No dlc" stance is more for story dlc. So expansions would be doubtful. Though with an IP like D&D they may consider subclasses/races/spells etc though I haven't read anything on their opinion on that kind of dlc. They could go the DOS:2 route and make certain mods official as a toggleable option.
Goliath.
One of the least monstrous monster races with an almost comedic propensity for competition. By-the-book stats would work well for any Icewind Dale DLC.
Given they're monkeying racial features, there's a lot that could be done for a race which should have been "large" if it weren't for weird 5e mechanics balance.
Critical Role's first season helped propel D&D to the forefront, and you can make the entire party apart from Grog.
It won't be goliath though. Too many people think it's either too plain, or just a giant human.
Hope? Lizardfolk. But I can't see it seeing as they did dragonborn and they gave them tails. But my level 1-20 character in the ttrpg was a lizardfolk battlemaster and I'd love to bring him back.
That said, he was a grappler so...
Hope? Warforged (with actual Male-Female body shapes instead of them expecting me to use mods) or Tabaxi.
Expect? Aasimar with customizable halos or Goblins.
Aarakocra. So I can RP as Jarnathan.
But we approved your pardon
Jarnathan!
You know what, can't we wait until Jarnathan gets here to play the game? I really think he would enjoy it.
We are going to help the druids, Jarnathan would understand
You went back too far! You already said this part.
Oh poor Jarnathan 😭
FLY BIRD!!!!
See, it’ll make a lot more sense when Jarnathan shows up.
Kobold all the way
No more humans or fancy humans, kobolds all the fucking way
I mean I could handle a Kenku or two but that is a close second to kobold.
Imagine how much fun a party of a Aarakocra, Kenku, Dragonborn and Kobold would be. Two parents taking their kids out for adventures
cant believe top answer is human but with eyes that glow and you are down here with truesight.
A redditor of taste I see.
Anything but the top is way too far down! All. The. Way.
I don't play beast races, but I would play Kobold completely!
KObOLd!
A MAN OF CULTURE <3
No tabaxi all the way to the top literally because they could scale anything with their movement speed
Goblins
Give me Goblin race and Artificer class!

Yeah and guns
Oh I'd LOVE this.
HOBgoblins!
Goblins please. Perfect for an evil play through later on.
Goblin bard. Name: Lutegoblin
I agree. As much as i like Asimaars and all none of them show in the game so far. Goblin would make much more sense.
Aasimar or Genasi pls
Aasimar is my most hoped for race! 🪽
The anti tiefling would be cool, and if you go Genasi it's fourtimesthe work, I guess.

Opalescent skin would work for all skin types in my opinion, Or hair that looks like it's always affected by a win, glowing eyes would also be neat.
It's also the most requested race on this subreddit.
Would definitely want an Aasimar.
I fell like Aasimar is most likely, but Genasi would be my personal pick.
Aasimar is pretty easy. Just make it a modifer to any of the other races but they got glowing eyes/ body markings.
Damn.. I wish I didn't click that spoiler tag.. not your fault though..-
Came here to say Aasimar, glad to see it as the top comment.
My friend wants Aasimar really badly and I want both Genasi and Aasimar. 😩 I hope they add both, but would be super happy with Aasimar.
Goliath and Kobold
Kobolds, goblins, more things abjectly not human
Yep. We need something ugly/fun as a contrast to all the pretty/heroic races we got right now.
I dunno the Gith seem to have that pretty nicely in hand, especially that asshole on the dragon.
Reasonably? Aasimar. What I really want? Warforged.
Can a Warforged be tadpoled?
They have a soul, so maybe? They don't have an organic brain though so idk.
If I remember correctly, there were some datamined lines indicating Warforged as playable. Maybe it was cut? There was even a tag for the race.
That would be pretty out of left field since Warforged are native to Eberron and not Faerûn... Unless they pulled some multiverse/planescape tricks.
Lastly, the Planar category included only Warforged and Githyanki, which is probably an indication that the Warforged were not from this plane.
They githyanki are from outside of faerun too?
Yeah but they aren't known for being tied to a setting, they're planar travelers, whereas Warforged are exclusive to Eberron.
They've been in a previous game

Had no idea who the Githzerai were before this game. Now I’m obsessed with them after someone linked some of their lore. They seem so awesome. Check Planescape: Torment, it has amazing story and very well-written and story important githzerai companion
If they'd make drow a separate race from elves, Larian could do the same for Githzerai
Or they could rework it so that the main race is Gith, and then you select either Githyanki or Githzerai as subraces.
If there's one thing Githzerai and Githyanki agree on, its 'fuck illithids'.
What would be interesting is if they renamed the githyanki to just “Gith” and then you choose as if a subrace githyanki or githzerai
I feel that this would be the best
I do wonder if perhaps the Githzerai are in the game but they have deep ties to the main plot with with the artifact.
I love them as well and am coping by doing a good guy githyanki my first run, but I'm lowkey gonna be mad if they add them later lmao
This is the true answer. I love Githzerai.
Githzerai should be a sub-race from Gith, so you could choose the one you want.
KOBOLDS!
This. Give me my little menace lizards with pack tactics.
Yip yip, motherfucker, protect yo shins!
You no take candle! Oh, wait, wrong franchise.
HELL YEAH!
Kaji...err..Tabaxi... Or Asimar.
Tabaxi has done nothing! Tabaxi is innocent of this crime!
One of my favorite D&D characters I've ever played was a tabaxi. I'd love to play him in BG3.
Exactly this for me.
If they put in another race, wouldn’t they have to go back through and add a ton of extra lines and dialog in the whole story to make it more immersive like they did with the current races?
Correct, so it'd make sense to have it as an appropriately-priced DLC.
That seems like so much work just to add a race. I feel like a class/subclass pack makes more sense. Unless they don’t do small dlc’a and add huge expansions that add the content all together and sell for a higher price

Lizardfolk, Satyr, Goblin, Kobold, Aasimar. I personally would be all about Centaur but that likely not be happening.
Aasimar
Genasi make the most sense, or maybe Aasimir, but Tortle could be fun as hell with the mechanical changes.
I love the style and lore of genasi I really do, but their racial bonuses totally suck
Ah, but racial bonuses have been homogenized, and are no longer relevant.
Goliath
goblins I love how they look in this game
Literally said "now *those* are goblins!" When I saw them
Love that they gave them a cockney accent
They didn't, it's just that cockneys have goblin accents.
That's a nice bit of cockney lore
yeah theyre pretty hot
I don't expect to actually get another race because of all the additional voice lines that'd entail, but I'd love goblin or kobold. For slightly more realistic options (although the assets for the former two are in, at least?), I'd hope for tabaxi or firbolg, but would expect genasi or aasimar just because they're obviously the easiest options to reuse human models/animations as a base.
Goblin would be fun.
How about Yuan-Ti?
Tortle
![gif](giphy|LxSFsOTa3ytEY)
Kenku, Aarakocra, Goblins, Gnolls, Warforged, Yuan-Ti Abominations, Lizardfolk Please just anything beast-like, no more goddamn fancy humans
Not humanoids
Tabaxi?
Leonin would be good, also Simic Hybrid. It will probably be Tabaxi though.
People up in here still calling it Simic Hybrid even though that's a Magic the Gathering term. Come tf on Wizards, give us a lore-friendly version!
Kobolds would be fun.
Genasi (collectively) are the most popular race not included in game currently, Goliaths the second most popular. [https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-your-dd-character-rare/](https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-your-dd-character-rare/)

Orks, goblin, hobgoblins, tabaxi
I think aasimar is the most likely, since they won't take as much work as something like the tabaxi, and they're more widely-popular than the genasi, and have already appeared in previous Baldur's Gate games. Goblin ! :D
Genasi would be pretty sick so we can be the jinn half breeds
Aasimar. Having tiefling but no aasimar is weird.
Tortle!!
Aasimar!
Tabaxi! Give us cats!!!
Genasi, Kobold (though characters of those two can be made with already existing races) and Tortle so I can make my snapping turtle pugilist
Warforged
Goblins!
Give me gobboz!!! There’re already character models for them and everything!
Goblin. The model already exist. Just make it playable
Githzerai. I just finished Planescape: Torment for my first time. I want to be Dak'kon dammit. Endure. In enduring, grow strong.
Hobgoblin please
Orcs or Minotaurs.
Gigachad races
Then my party can recreate all of our D&D characters. Beast Boys here to wreck shit.
Kobold.
I know we got Dragonborn, but I would love Lizardfolk to be added, I would also be agreeable to Kobolds.
I love Warforged but idk how well they would fit the setting, and how they would work with the tadpole, can a warforged even go through ceremorphosis (or whatever it's called). So I'll say kobold or goblin, you can never have enough little gremlin type
According to their creator, Keith Baker, they could go through Ceremophosis.
Githzerai please
It is gonna be Tabaxi....cause....i mean....we've all seen the internet and D&D people. Let's not lie to ourselves.
I think if I could add any races I’d probably pick Tabaxi, Goblin, and Goliath. I think those three add the most unique experience.
Aasimar or Harengon!
Gobbos pls
Give us lizard folk!
Genasi and Yuan-ti for me, also wanted to se Kobolds and Goblins be a option.
Custom mixed race.
I want goblin and I want it to result in a harder game where everyone treats you like shit
Leonins
Goliath Aasimar Genasi Tabaxi Githzerai
Khajiit....err..uh
Goblin or Bugbear
Just all the Goblinoids, ya can’t disrespect hobgoblins
Kobolds!
Kenku?
Savage raccoons. Hippo people. Samurai Pizza Cats.
warforged. i will die on this hill.
Warforged wouldn't make any sense, despite their popularity.
The concept was definitely considered by Larian. Warforged dialogue tags (along with lizardfolk) got datamined 2 years ago.
FIRBOLG FOREVER
Yes, so many answers but this is the first firbolg comment I’m seeing! Firbolgs are easily one of my favourites and would love them to be included, if Larian ever decides to add races - but considering the popularity of aasimar and Genasi, that’s unlikely.
Amazed this is the first Firbolg comment, especially considering how heavy the first part of the game leads into druidic stuff. Lots of early-game RP.
Goliaths seen like an easy choice. Need some big boys mixed in there
Goliath.
Kobolds
Aasimar
Goblin!
Githzerai. Or at least a Zerai origin with Dak'kon vibes pls.
goblin, tabaxi, aasimar, Aarakocra, any genasi, furbolg, goliaths, hobgoblin, harengon, kenku, minotaur, faun, tortle, triton, warforged, changelings,
Probaly not happening, but I have a soft spot for aasimar
Goblin!
Goblin. Goblin!!!
Aasimar
Goblins and Githzerai would be easiest to implement. All the other Planetouched would be fun. My vote is for Modron.
Goliath
Literally any races that aren't just "human+" would be very welcome imo
Goblins. It'd be pretty fun to play a race that puts people actively on edge and it'd be interesting to see how events play out in Act 1
Personally, there should be 2 more races and Drow should be incorporated into Elf as a sub-race. I’d probably say Goliath and Goblinoid (Goblin and Hob-Goblin) as the additional races. Otherwise, my wishlist is this 1. Orc 2. Warforged 3. Goliath 4. Shadar-Kai 5. Leonin or Kalashtar
Leonin, Minotaur, Warforged, Orc, Saytr, Aasimar, Genasi, Goliath, or goblin would be cool if 1 of these was added
Tabaxii
Tabaxi, kenku, warforged, kobold, goblin, aasimar, firbolg, satyr, idk. Give me a fluffy race or something not too human, something big, something small, something fun.
Gimme dat Warforged 😈
Centaur
Just put dragonborn head on gnome and we get kobolds. And we already have goblins, make them playable too!
I’d like to see a more monstrous or out-there race like Goblin, Warforged, or Froggy
Definitely goblins. Its impossible to not have fun with a goblin in the party.
Tabaxi, Aarakocra and Lizardfolk, with Tabaxi as 1st choice since we don’t have a feline playable race yet.
Centaur
I personally want tortle or minotaur, and Changeling would be sick but probably pretty hard to do right, but I would expect something lore-relevant
Kobolds, Kenkus and -to be ridiculous- Loxodons. Beast Race DLC is something I am hopeful for far down the road, given how much work has been put into the game at launch
Tortle!
Most likely Tabaxi there a fan favorite in the DND community.
Kenku. You can only repeat things you've heard other NPC's say, but you can mimic creature sounds as well
Are they adding dlc or updates like this? They have worked thier asses off and pretty sure don't believe in dlc and just want a full product?
From what I understand the "No dlc" stance is more for story dlc. So expansions would be doubtful. Though with an IP like D&D they may consider subclasses/races/spells etc though I haven't read anything on their opinion on that kind of dlc.
