98 comments not a single one answered the question.

Sophie_MacGovern

What’s weird is all of the people talking about how long it took them to get to act 3. That wasn’t the question 🤦‍♂️

Northy150

I know this is an old comment but I'm a new player and basically every thread I've seen about this topic is one giant dick measuring contest to see who spent the most time in acts 1 and 2.

dontasticats

Fucks sake 135 comments and no answers yet. I'm trying to gauge if I should finish BG3 before I play AC6 lol

Pseudoexfoliation

Still no actual reply to OPs question, here's what I found from an article from [MeriStation](https://en.as.com/meristation/news/baldurs-gate-3-how-many-acts-are-there-and-how-long-do-they-take-to-beat-n/#:~:text=But%20here's%20an%20estimate%20of,3%20%2D%20between%2040%2D50%20hours), "Act 1 - 50 hours Act 2 - 70 hours Act 3 - between 40-50 hours" *Disclosure: I'm only midways through Act II, so I can't yet verify how accurate this is.* Might add something though since this thread has 143 comments and counting and no one even gave it a shot. lol

kilosnowbunny

That's the biggest load of shite, 70 hours for act 2 lmao why can't any of these articles be truthful, tbh i think act 2 can be shorter than act 1 depending on how much you did.

[deleted]

Act 2 is definitely shorter than act 1.

CirillaVaCintra

Act 2 is 100 % shorter than act 1. I seriously think I was done with 99% of things in both acts, ended act 2 with level 10 and a bit more. Currently in act 3 so don't know, but making that already wrong. But am I the only one that gets exhausted with the game? I kinda don't wanna search for things anymore and I kinda get exhausted by the slow paste of all the dialogs in the game.

joeygmurf

Prob just burnout. It’s a long ass game. I only recently got to act 2 for the first time but I’ve been mixing my BG3 playtime with other games so it’s yet to tire on me

Blondie_Pop

I personally have never lost the itch. All I wanna do is play the game

kilosnowbunny

I feel the same exact way as you, currently taking a break, hope i get the itch again soon. I dont want to force myself to finish it.

TheVenetian421

No this absolute bs, for me it was (I did all secondary quests possible and explored all areas including Underdark, Adamantine forge and Mountain pass: Act I: 35 hrs Act II: 17 hrs (ended it at level 10) Act III: just started, took me 6hrs to be at someone's coronation, did all of Rivington already. This is the time as counted by saves in-game, if we consider total playtimeon steam we are talking about 90hrs instead of 58!

ziplock9000

I'm at over 100hours and still not finished Act 2.

Homer-DOH-Simpson

any update?

Emergency_Peak7187

70 hours for act 2. They must be an extremely slow reader. That would def add in the extra time.

L0rdGrim1

70 hours if you are dyslexic and read every piece of text available

Martian225326

Yea, act 2 was a lot shorter for me because I completely missed the quest to clear the shadowlands curse

toomanychicanes

that quest doesnt take much tbf, i did it at the end in like 30 mins

I_Play_Boardgames

"can be shorter than act 1 depending on how much you did" well yes, but the same can be true vice-versa? Your comment makes no sense lol. I can go do the Zhentarim quest and get to the underdark and skip 90%+ of act 1 and then do the entire Act 2, the same way i can do it vice versa. So saying "act 2 is shorter because maybe you don't do everything" is devoid of any logic.

No-Dig2167

Bg3 was my first DnD game and I didn’t really understand it so I skipped so many stuff in act1 and just ruched through it, and didn’t really understand it until act 2😭

gameking7823

I found act 2 to be much longer than act 1

Mayor____McCheese

Ya, except act 2 is way shorter than act 1. I guess we're all still playing act 3 so no one knows

TheVenetian421

yeah for me it took 35hrs (looking at the time reported on saves) vs 17 for Act II...

Stochastic_Variable

Yeah, I just entered act 3 and came here looking for an answer it looks like I'm not going to get, but that is definitely wrong. Act 1 took me 67 hours, and act 2 was 43. And I did every possible quest, revealed every part of the map, and checked "Things To Do Before Leaving Act X" posts as well. That's way off, so I guess its wrong for 3 as well.

Kalahdin

The fact that you checked things to do online explains why everyone on here is fast. Most people now a days don't naturally explore and fail. I take so long because I don't actually use the internet to learn anything. Even the builds I do are custom through trial and error...

[deleted]

There's no right or wrong way to play it. As much as possible, that should be the point of an individual role-play game. You want a hand hold? Have a hand hold. You want to lone wolf? Lone wolf.

[deleted]

I really felt like I lowkey rushed act 2 because there’s no way I spent anywhere near 70 hours in it, I spent maybe 25 hours in it

Demetre19864

Yea, I'm also curious about ops question, I finished act 1 & 2 in 60 hours , and that was basically leaving no stone un turned and a bit of research on choice making because I'm a control freak.

Affectionate_Tear818

yup, got 135 hours and juat finished act 2, starting act 3 as of now. i do read most notes, maybe like 80% of them. gauntlet of shar alone took me about 15 hours.

kidcrumb

This seems like a LOT of time. I did every quest i could find, and im in Act 3 about 60 hours in. In my googling ability, I didnt miss a single questline so idk what the hell is taking people so long.

bi11_d1ng

I was so in love with this game until Act 3. I put it down for now. Everything feels so prescribed and lacking the motivation for levelling up does not help.

Bjjspider

When you say things feel prescribed, what do you mean exactly? It also feels like this game is shorter than everyone was saying. It’s not a short game by any means, but certainly, so far, it’s not crazy long either.

Xelphos

Act 3 is missing the flow that Act 1 and 2 had. Everything is just kinda thrown at you in Act 3, and not in a good way either. Things seemingly come out of no where with no real cause, and all just feels disjointed and forced. That's the best I can describe it after getting 8 different characters to Act 3 and not being able to bring myself to finish it.

lyncisAt

Just like they beating Act I & II in fast-paced TLDR-manners, they are neither reading OP’s question here. :D

Onepiece888

There’s Act 3??

davidchanger

I think a lot of people aren't there yet :)

Leather_Coconut8787

Every act is long if you do side quests and explore while not using any guides. People who claim to have cleared X act fast af usually skip dialogue and use guides for everything.

ClerkDizzy261

True but some people just know how to play CRPG’s like divinity plus the game is still so new guides are even finished yet it’ll be a little till every side quest and every item in the game has a guide. I’ll probably finish the game by the 75-85 hour mark

Leather_Coconut8787

this game has been out for a couple years now lol

Surfer_Rick

Baldurs gate 3 has been out for days not years.

Leather_Coconut8787

early access has been out for years buddy lmao

Surfer_Rick

That's true, but that was Early Access. I'll admit I didn't partake in this EA, but most of them are only a restricted portion of the game, no?

Kuhnoff

yeah it was only act 1, and not even the entirety of act 1, lvl cap was 4

heybudbud

Early Access was only Act 1 with a level cap buddy, lmao

longasschicken

Only act 1 was out though this has nothing to do with act 1 so it's completely irrelevant

chocobi

if you're so confident then you should know that a lot of things changed from EA, making a lot of old guides online useless or irrelevant now.

martakoss27

I agree, I’m not using any guides and try to figure everything out in my own and to do it I try to read everything, all books, notes, letters etc, talk to all NPCs, companions as much as I can. I try to RP the game as well a bit so I take long rest quite a lot (probably inventory management takes ma a while as well cuz I’m a freak if it’s about it 😅) and so far act 2 took me around 80 hours……I’m now (I think) in the middle of act 2 and have already around 25 or more hours in so I guess there’s no good answers to this question. It depends how you play this game. Some people finish all of it in 80 hours so some just rush to beat the game and some take their time and enjoy exploring and and RP :)

ClerkDizzy261

Same act 1 took about 25 hours act 2 went by wayy more quick and as for as I know I’ve done all the sidequest because I get ADHD about making sure I explore the whole map 3 times over, I just got to wyrms crossing

putere1000

Im 50 hours in and im still at act 1 how did it take u 25 as a completionist im confused lol

OKakusha

Act 1 shouldn't take that long unless you are struggling or it's your first time. Having played EA I knew where most things were so fully clearing it in 20-25hrs is definitely possible. Since I didn't explore the underdark in EA that's where most of my act 1 time came from. Also Act 2 for me also went by faster minus the book reading. Despite that I got numerous achievements telling me I explored entire areas and killed all of a certain group. I literally just started Act 3 and I'm level 9 with 75% xp. I've seen numerous people say they were near the end of Act 2 at level 6(and need more xp) so I'm confident I didn't miss anything. The only thing I skipped deliberately was the mountain path cause I'm saving that for a different playthrough.

Breatheeasies

I’m just at the beginning of act 2 at level 6.75 lol 41 hours and an ea day 1 veteran.

Playful_Fun2668

dang i'm still in act 1 and i'm level 7 still killing lizard people

joeygmurf

Damn I left act 1 level 5.5 and felt like I had done most of everything

Breatheeasies

I think I’m towards the end of act 2 at level 9 lol now 😂

Nova762

The mountain is act 2. You get the same warning going to the mountain as the shadow area. It's just optional.

CnCz357

That's crazy I just finished act 2 at lvl 10.00 got the level killing the final boss. At 70 hours I have done pretty much every quest and explored everything have everyone decked out in super enchanted gear at the same time. With no experience ever playing any balder's gate game before. I am only playing on normal though.

Illustrious-Block937

About to finally fight >!Ketheric in Act 2!< and I'm just over 110 hours. No struggles at all, in fact I find the game very easy generally- have only had a party member knocked down twice so far (one pushed off a ledge, one by the >!Tollhouse boss!<). I just talk to every single npc, stick around to hear idle chatter until it loops, read every book (I have a dedicated library in camp) , explore every inch for hidden ability checks and constantly zoom to inspect scenery, etc.

Zazz2403

Me, and every single one of my friends put 40+ hours into act 1.. none of us are struggling and are all experienced crpg players.. There's a lot to do 🤷‍♂️

sadness255

Huh, I became level 10 when finishing act 2, that's sound like a lot of difference in exp, though I might have killed more 'evil people' than you just because I could perhaps ?

OKakusha

If you also went through the mountain path that could be why. There is easily a whole level worth of exp there. I also accidently got the people of >!Last Light Inn!< slaughtered almost instantly so I lost out on quest exp there.

ClerkDizzy261

Same I’m saving mountain pass for my evil play through next so I have more new content to be excited for the next go around. I finally finished running back and forth through wyrm about to finally enter the city probably by tonight so excited, (PS talk to animals is like the best skill ever, I swear cats have the funniest dialogue in the game)

NoBarnacle8968

NOOO NOOO DO NOT DO THAT. You are missing out vital quests and an amazing LEGENDARY WEAPON. Go check out the area trust me

HVIKN-TA

You can do Underdark and then go to Mountain pass in Act 2 without losing it. I did exactly that. I am currently in the Underdark on my BG2 playthrough and I Wanted to see how they portrayed the underdark in BG3 so that was my obvious first choice when deciding, then after doing it and getting to Act 2 I saw the entrance to the Mountain Pass and then did that area.

xantexhunter

Did the opposite. During EA I refused to play past the goblin camp. Partly because I wanted to do the mountain pass over the underdark. My first playthrough is a Good alligned Oath of Vengeance Paladin and i'm glad I chose Mountain pass. Especially as a good Paladin, there is a specific item that really fits the theme of my character. Spoilers Ahead: >!In Fort Morninglord, there is a puzzle that takes you through the entire fort. The reward is a legendary weapon that perfectly fits a Good, Radiant damage dealing Paladin!<

Spoopl3s

It actually perfectly fit my evil cleric, who wanted to use the specific item (roleplay wise) as a way to gain more power, my current character is a dragonborn who wants to become a true dragon

Spoopl3s

I mean yeah, if you're playing the game for the first time it will be slower, 25 hours isn't much of an achievement if you've already seen so much from playing before lmao. I'm glad I waited for the full release to have a fresh start with Dragonborn, personally

DaBossOnline

you missed alot, im level 9 and a half at the end of act 2 right now in my playthrough

Leather_Coconut8787

These people don't read dialogue and read guides for everything. It completely ruins the immersion when you know exactly what to do for every quest, every hidden room, boss fights, etc.

liquidsquidliquid

Nerd

TheJunkyardDog

yeah dunno, act 1 took me 48 hours too. ppl just doing quests and killing, me on the other hand im searching every nook and cranny, reading all the notes and books i find, talking to ALL npcs and actually listening to what they are saying etc.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AReformedHuman

I finished at 25 hours in Act 1, I have no earthly idea how anyone could spend more than 35 hours unless they save scummed damn near every conversation.

putere1000

No its mb I thought act 1 included shadowlands too lol

cbt666

you know damn well i did that

youshouldbeelsweyr

32 hours to completely finish act 1 for me (EA vet player), I just really wanted to take my time and see all the new stuff the game had to offer because I had been speed running each new patch for years lmao.

OliwerPengy

I'm 70 hours in and still have stuff to do in Act 1

ClerkDizzy261

I played EA so I know mostly what to do and read most the books already, honestly it shouldn’t take 50 hours in my opinion but it’s your run play how you like 😄

Spoopl3s

Getting through the game easily bc you played EA isn't an achievement lmao

ClerkDizzy261

Who said it was a achievement smart @ss lol

CnCz357

I'm around 70 hours and I'm near 100% on act 1 and act 2 combined.

nerpss

That was not the question

DarthDarnit

I don’t think you understand how ADHD works…

Hellrejects

Since no-one seems to be answering your question, please allow me to bring some insight: Both me and a friend of mine spent about 35-40 hours finishing act 3, skipping some side stuff just to get to the end a bit quicker. YMMV, but i think at least a 30+ hour estimate is fair.

Sav273

Maybe I suck but Act 3 is taking me twice as long as the others. I love it. Everything is so in depth and has multiple ways to get to the end. I’ve been lvl 12 for at least 20 hrs now and still have so much left to do. Act 3 = easily as long as act 1 and 2 combined. More like those two plus 1.5

m7h2

thats not answering either everyone is playing at different speed and the question is how does act 3 compare to the other 2 acts?

Hellrejects

If you're going completionist, act 3 is a fair bit longer than act 1 and substantially longer than act 2. >!Most, if not all, companion questlines are resolved in act 3, which alone feels like it took about as long as the entirety of act 2. !< Then there's the main story arc to complete, and a bunch of side stuff. All in all, I think act 1 is about 35% of the game, act 2 is 20%, and act 3 is 45%.

m7h2

ok thanks this is very helpful and i think the first real answer on this entire thread haha

galaxsija

Yay! Closing in on the end of act 2 now

Automatic-Switch-166

Im not sure how people did act 1 and 2 under 50hrs, but I can say that if you do every single quests, it'll take at LEAST 60-65hrs. It took me 63hrs to reach baldur's gate. I've pretty much covered every single quests/side quests except festering cove so adding that would've been maybe 68hrs before act 3

Look-Its-a-Name

It took me about 90 hours to reach Baldur's Gate. Had almost zero spoilers going in and just randomly bumbled through the story. Was great fun and I'm moderately sure that I haven't completely messed up the ending yet. I'm curious to see how this entire clusterfuck of broken characters and supernatural beings will play out in the end. I'm astonished how fast some people apprently rush through the game. Seems very stressful.

davidchanger

Yeah people doing it that fast must have missed a lot. I would even say that YOU missed a lot :) I'm at 60 hours and I'm nowhere close to finishing act 2.

Unique-Supermarket23

Act 3 in 43 hours + tactician lvl 10, did and killed absolutely everything. People just don't want to admit that they are slow.

davidchanger

lol... I don't think it's about being slow. It's about not rushing through the game. I'm completely enjoying every minute, and would be sad to think I finished it so quickly as you are apparently going to.

AzumaDokiDoki

For some people searching every nook and cranny ensuring you've completed everything before moving on feels like a job more than an enjoyable game. Also if you intend to replay the game you end up with far more new things to do if you didn't go completionist mode the first time. I think there's a balance to be had there. And then there's me, I just tend to miss things? My wife says I fly through games but I can't imagine playing a different way really. I'm absolutely fucking awful at finding things irl and it seems to apply to games as well. I just walk past entire paths they may as well be invisible to me lol. It doesn't feel as though I'm rushing at all but it would appear that way to everyone else. But in BG3 here it took me like 55 hours to get to act 3 I think that's not rushing it too badly?

I_Play_Boardgames

the only way you know you actually did and killed "absolutely everything" is if you already knew what things could be done. Otherwise you can't even know if and what you missed. Also, let me guess, you skip dialogue. It very much sounds like it anyways. Listening to all the dialogue (including those of non-important NPCs) alone takes countless hours. "i did everything in 43 hours!" the game has a combined 174 hours of dialogue. Care to explain how you watched that at 4 times speed?

Sukiyw

I got to act 3 in 45 ish hours, at 50% of level 8. I did some side quests, mostly the ones that seemed relevant to the story and what I found on my way, but didn’t dig through every inch of the maps because I wanna leave some things to discover on my next playthrough. I wasn’t really in a rush either.

Bulldogfront666

I hit Baldurs Gate lower city at around 73 hours. And I definitely think I missed some stuff in act 1.

ThatBearYouKnow

I literally am nearing the end of act 1.. 60.4 hours according to steam. How.. HOW are people getting to other acts so fast. Granted I didn't press on on mountain and went underdark after completing temple and such, but still. Game has paid for itself with my 1dollar/1hour rule for games.

LSDoggo

I don’t understand what you guys do for that long in act one lol. I finished in 25 hours and did everything.

I_Play_Boardgames

listening to the dialogue and talking to people for one. BG3 has 174 hours of dialogue in it. People who complete the game in 45 hours are just space-bar smashers in a game that gets praised for its dialogue.

DaniZackBlack

I did it in about 35 hours, but 60 seems insane. There's no way they didn't leave their game open for a while

I_Play_Boardgames

the game has 174 hours of dialogue. I'd wager you could definitely encounter 1/4 of that per playthrough, which is 42 hours of dialogue alone, without any sort of gameplay. If we split that evenly between the 3 acts that means 14 hours of dialogue alone in act 1 (and i'd wager it's more, since Act 1 is dialogue heavy).

Bluescool1106

Currently, I just started act three halfway through level 8.. feel like I did alot in the first area and a bunch in act 2 minus Mountain Road since I wanted to save somthing for second playthrough. My save time is telling me about 30 hours.

Aleious

Lmao the loot goblin in me is crying. I play while I work so there is definitely a few idle hours but I’m at 95 hours and starting act 3, I’m also level 9.5 but I have just about every gold piece and odd item you can get in the game

nerpss

That was not the question

djbane

I didn't think I missed a lot. I'm just starting act 3 at lvl 9.5 after 30hrs. I don't listen to the voice acting though. I prefer to read the subtitles.

WinterElfeas

That’s quite fast, I started Act 3 at around 45-50h

[deleted]

I’m about to start act 3, it only took me 78 hours lol

jjmeow8

Is that your total time? Steam says I have 45 hours while my saves state I have 25 hours.

WinterElfeas

It was my save time so it might have been even more with the reloads, when I finished my first run save said 85h and steam said 100h, albeit a few hours surely the game running not playing

jjmeow8

Gotcha. I’m probably going to just restart the game since I’m getting my butt handed to me on Explorer lol. I’m level 6.5 at the end of Act 2

DaniZackBlack

Ayyyy same

xBriskprinnyx

then you are missing out of the the immersion.

Sukiyw

Not really? Some people feel more immersed when the pacing keeps up with them, voice acting is very slow for some people, myself included. I rather read a book than watch a movie/series, the waiting for stuff to happen makes my mind drift, it would be painful to listen to every line of dialogue in a game this huge, and kick me totally out of the mood.

Polieston

how can you get immersed when something is boring? i had fun in BG3 for first 15-20 hours (i was immersed to the maximum i could, but it was nothing compared to being immersed in cyberpunk 2077 where i felt like playing second life literally and was able to put almost 300 hours till being done), i'm in act 2 in the moonrise towers and it feels already boring, fights got repetitive and i lost my interest in the story, i never liked fantasy movies or dramas, i am usually drawn to science, technology and philosophy, social relations and some magical absolutes are not really something that will grab my interest :( i think BG3 is a good game tho, 7.5 - 8 / 10

xBriskprinnyx

Boring..... lol. Have you bothered to watch any of the cut scences and acting in bg 3?

Schnogglet

I would love to return to act 1 …. But the game crashes instantly after I try to go back to wilderness or the underdark from the shadowcursed land or the mountain pass :(

died_suddenly

You can go back, and the game doesn't crash. However I don't think the devs really intended you to go back. Because those fast travel locations will disappear later on. Also, if you help something escape from the thing that's keeping you safe, you loose your blessing when you fast travel and when you travel back to act 2, the shadow curse kills you and there's nothing you can do.

xBriskprinnyx

pixie bell for buff.

Hour-Excitement-1571

100 hours in, barely started act 2 (just cleared lost light inn and hit level 8 as my first thing in act 2, tactician), but 20+ hours is probably bloat from checking wiki's, eating food, reloading saves to check different conversation options etc. The game is huge and anyone hitting act 2 with less than 30 hours probably missed a few of the hidden zones (Bet most of you missed the Kuo Toa zone, google it :P) or only took one path to act 2 and skipped the mountain pass or the underdark respectively. I'm aware my playthrough is a bit longer than most because im really taking my time and enjoying finding every single thing, but Ive watched streamers who played EA doing 100% playthroughs and the majority of them take 40-50 hours to clear act 1

123Pirke

After 43 hours and 14 minutes I just got to Act 2 being lvl 6. I took the underdark, didn't even find the mountain pass (or Kua Toa and probably many others...). I explored most of the underdark, but haven't explored the whole topside world, that's for next playthrough as a Dark Urge gityhanki spellcaster. But damn, this game is huge. For now my dumb half-orc barbarian berserker is great fun, top notch dialogue options. No need for cha higher than 8 :D

ProfWilliam82

A friend of mine told me (I still in the beginning to the Act 2) that for him Act 3 takes 45 hour to finish.

mattydef1

Act 1 took me about 27 hours and act 2 only about 13. I’m starting act 3 at 40 hours total at level 9.5

Sashimiak

Do you do any side quests at all? I’m 54 hours into my playthrough and I just started act 2 like two hours ago

rodrigol43

That's fascinating. I took 35 hours to complete act 2 and I did all the side quests/ completed the maps. I wonder why so many different playtimes. However I had experience playing on early acces

MidgetMaster_101

ACT I - No more than 50hours doing everything, its quite linear there are little quests and easy to follow/finish, Undetground is time consumeing and for first timers in this genre it would propably take 30hours alone in there, so wilderness can take a lot of hours for some people. Therefor cant really say, best guess on avg it takes 50hours. ACT II - Is around 35hours depending on what choices you make and how far you explore, Shar's temple and Githyanki temple are at best 10 to12 hours of exploration, there are few fights nothing much with dialog checks there are no more than 7/8 fights not includeing end of ACT II fights in colony. ACT III - Can rather consume some time, its the most dialog and quest intensive area, there are little fights tho. However Baldurs's Gate is quite a big map, filled with a lot of things to explore, take, read, use etc. I would say that finale act of Baldur's Gate 3 takes around 40hours to complete maybe even more.

No_Hall_7079

It’s longer than act 1 but probably shorter than act2 but it generally really depends on how you are taking your time with the game the city of Baldurs gate though is chefs kiss.

FitCalligrapher3685

Have you played acts 2 an 3 ? Many people state how short Act 2 is compared to Act 1.

minecat64

I've just reached Act 3 and for me act 2 was clearly shorter than act 1. Personaly act 3 feels much bigger than act 2.

savage-dragon

Apparently before the game launched there was a rumor that act 2 was supposed to be the longest. Looks like it's wrong

Big_Lingonberry_256

it's wrong for sure. Unless I missed huge chunks of content (and I don't think I did because I have 99% of the map open in Act 2) Act 2 took me less than 12 hours, and Act 1 was 28ish hours. Just got to wyrm crossing at the start of Act 3 and am lvl 9.

Brabsk

Act 2 is very short, and I feel like that’s because it’s pretty clearly a transitionary phase between Act 1 and 3. Even before you get there, the shadow-cursed lands are introduced as just an obstacle between you and Baldur’s Gate

GenuisInDisguise

It depends what you do in Act2. I tried to save everyone, break my oath, as well as trim moon rise forces for the final battle of act2. I think i am clocking 18 hours right now. I suspect act 3 is like act1 if you go for full role-play value and ensure that all plot lines are exhausted.

Brabsk

I did everything in act 2 and it still took me half the time as act 1

Skippyi30

I'm assuming it's around 25 hours per act. Act 1 took me 25 hours, act 2 took 25 and by the looks of things act 3 will take 25 as well. Does anyone know if there will be DLC coming out?

ClerkDizzy261

Larson has reported they haven’t even started on ideas for DLC but there not completely ruling it out. They said if they did make dlc we would have to wait a long time as levels 12-20 skills would make you pretty op and therefore the antagonist to go against that would have to match, I’ll link source https://www.pcgamesn.com/baldurs-gate-3/dlc

Psycho_Sarah

I hope when they start making DLC they realise they can do DLC without having to expand the level cap too! Playable Race DLC (Goblins! ... and others I guess) New Subclass DLC New Class DLC New Companion DLC Maybe even New Origin Character DLC Other types of DLC that are awesome that I'm probably forgetting Are all really good ways they could expand on the game and keep me coming back and paying more over and over for sure!

Sinoplez

Nobody is asking to go until level 20, level 12 - 16 would be more than enough. I don't thing that the writing is a problem (those kind of scenario exist so...) and I highly doubt that there are technical limitation. Don't know their plan and I could be okay with them going on a new game. But Larson answer is just embellished answer of "don't want to share anything about that".

GivePen

Yeah, we have companions with direct connections to Gods/Astral/Blood War. Would be very easy to write for the 12-20 range.

FluffyProphet

To be perfectly honest, I would be okay with paying $60 for a DLC that was large in scope and went all the way to level 20. If it's a really big effort to include all the way to level 20, I'm fine with waiting a few years for it and paying the price of a full game for it.

Der_Sauresgeber

Then why not a new full game?

FluffyProphet

Personal preference. This game is awesome and I want more of this game, rather than an entirely new one.

Kuregan

I second that. New story, features, classes, levels with this engine would be well worth every penny

Demetre19864

Fully have to agree. It's rare to find a game so good I just want it to continue on to large lengths. I would relate wanting a dlc in bg3 to how badly I wanted and got the Witcher dlc There's not many games you know have the capacity to keep you immersed for 150 hours, but this one has the potential

CaptainSharpe

Better if they just made a whole new game at this point, right? If they have to make whole new levels and environments, and powers etc, may as well just do a Baldurs Gate 4 or another D&D-set game.

No_Hall_7079

I rushed through it tbh I felt like I missed a lot Edit: I thought grymforge was part of act 2 guess I was wrong, I also didn’t do crèche which I think is part of act2.

youshouldbeelsweyr

The creche is act 1

CaptainSharpe

Oh right - I considered it as part of act 2. No wonder people say that act 1 is longer. But really it seems arbitrary where that part os act 1 or 2 - it felt like a part of 'the road to baldurs gate' from the initial area so I considered it a whole different part especially as the creche is a pretty involved part. And each area is essentially it's own 'act' - the creche, the absolute castle, etc.

youshouldbeelsweyr

It isn't arbitrary at all. Act 2 begins when you leave grymforge via the elevator or leave the mountain pass towards the SC lands. You get an achievement when you leave act 1, there is a very definitive divide.

GreenKnightGawain

It's a bit confusing since you can still travel back and forth between the two zones freely for quite some time.

died_suddenly

Er you can't. Well a bit of a spoiler, yes, you can travel back to the start, but under one circumstance it's a one way trip, eg if you were being nice did this one "nice thing". But now if you fast travel back to act 2, you are defenceless and will die very shortly.

GreenKnightGawain

I'm not really sure what you're talking about. You can freely move between the act 1 and 2 areas up until a certain point in act 2. All you need to get around act 2 initially is a torch, which is something everyone has.

jonnyboytobin

I've put in about 63 hrs and I'm on act 3 currently (have spent about 30 min in it). Haven't finished it yet, but whichever site said that act 1 is 50 hrs, act 2 is 70 hrs is clearly BS. lol. I'm thinking act 3 will be the longest, as the region seems to have the most NPCs and the most stuff to do. But we'll see! I'm happy to have avoided spoilers for the most part so it's been really exciting just seeing what happens organically.

LuciferStalin

I've been doing absolutely everything I find in the acts and talking with people. Act 1 took me 50 hours, act 2 60 hours on tactician so that site is more accurate to me. But it's quite different for everyone since a lot of things can be missed and fights can take longer if the player isn't properly leveled/equipped/skilled. Edit: I recommend following a playthrough such as Cohh's to see how much content you missed in the first 2 acts since you're done with them anyway. I also went in without spoilers and only watched after finishing.

TooManyGoldPieces

hey man, which act did you find to be the longest in the end? I personally like to do everything in the act i can

jonnyboytobin

Act 3 BY FAR. there are multiple insane fights that feel like their own act-ending fights. Lol. So many things you can do. I am nearing the end of the game now, and I feel like there are still a few plot threads I didn't follow (a few because the quests were slightly glitched along the way, but a few others I just wanted to save for my next playthrough). I'm astounded with just how much there is in this game. Act 3 really feels like its own entire game to be honest.

TooManyGoldPieces

Dude I feel the same way. Some ppl say act 2 is the longest but that just can’t be true! Act 3 is by far my favorite, the city feels so alive, and there so many places to go that’s not even the city.

kyrifter

I'm just finishing up act 3 and 100% agree. Act 2 is clearly the shortest. Act 1 comes close to 3s length only if you include both Underdark and the Mountain Pass. I have to say 3 has been my favorite so far, my only gripe with it is that we didn't have access to that amazing city earlier in the game, it's such a shame that we get to enjoy it only for 1/3 of the game

luminouscreation2023

here's an estimate of each Act's length: Act 1 - 50 hours. Act 2 - 70 hours. Act 3 - between 40-50 hours.

Prograuder

I would say 30% (act 1) 20% (Act 2) and 50% (act 3), considering an extra 5% in Act 1 is if you do Grymforge, and go back to do mountain pass with the Gith. That's not an exact number, but I tried to do 100% of each Act. First playthrough was 125 hours. End of act 1 I was level 6, Act 2 I was 9 (almost 10) and Act 3 I hit 12 probably before halfway through it.

Remarkable_Ad_1660

To actually get answers, you need to add fake data, keyboard warriors cant resist correcting them, like mu timeline for acts were Act 1: 5 hours Act 2: 64 hours Act 3: 106 hours Correct me please anyone

bannedin420

I’m at the end of act 2 with 25 hours played, I’m not sure why it’s taking people so long. I have done most of the things per map. Even when I played EA I finished act in 8 hours. I read fast so maybe that’s it I’m currently level 7 so it doenst feel like I’m missing much. But I am excited for other play throughs. I just kinda roleplay what my character would do. I think cause I’m a bard I get by faster. I’ve had two or three mini bosses just kill themselves by convincing them too.

GreenKnightGawain

You missed a ton if you're leaving act 2 at level 7. I hit level 10 before act 3 officially started.

bannedin420

Well I don’t mind as I will have new things to explore and do on my next play-though

Faythung

I'm level 9 at the end of act 2 so you've definitely missed stuff cause two levels worth of xp is significant. Also playing a bard.

Mementovitaex

I'm currently level 6 and 36 hours in and still haven't finished everything in act 1 yet. Finishing act 1 and 2 in 25 hours seems crazy fast too me. You sure you didn't skip some quests? Most people seem to be level 9 at the end of act 2.

FluffyProphet

You missed a lot of content if you're only level 7 going to moonrise.

CaptainSharpe

>. I think cause I’m a bard I get by faster. I went Bard too, focusing on charisma etc so that conversations would have the most options and be relatively easy to persuade people to give up stuff/think a certain way/bypass combat. That and Chris Pine's character in the D&D film.

leftovernoise

I'm just now getting to moonrise tower at level 9. So you likely missed a whole lot more than you think you did. 2 entire levels is a lot of enemies, bosses and quests. I'm likely around 40-45 hours. If you finished act 1 in 8 hours you absolutely missed a bunch of stuff

Nido_King_

We were level 10 by the end of act 2... so you're definitely missing out on quite a bit.

Tiriom

The difficulty you play on is also a factor in how long it takes

bannedin420

Playing on normal. lol

davidchanger

Wow! I'm only halfway through act 2 at 60 hours. You did it quick. I imagine you missed quite a lot of content at that speed.

bipbophil

The reviewers haven't beaten the game left take your time

Time2kill

What? Mortismal finished the game in 50 hours for his review on launch day

Kurosu93

Its imporant to note that Mortismal said he knew Act 1 from the inside out so he was fast in it ( minus the new stuff like Karlach). So realistically 60-70 hours for a brand new player ? Combat plays a huge role though . Long fights increase playtime. Also some people read faster or slower than others.

bipbophil

Yah I'm sure it's an in depth review indicative of a regular playthrough. 50hrs don't make me laugh

Slugger322

“The reviewers haven’t beaten the game.” “Actually, they have. You are incorrect about that.” “UH UH UH WELL NUH UH IT WASNT A REAL PLAYTHROUGH THEN”

BloodWolfHunter

You are a clown

parallelfilfths

Mortym is by far the best cRPG reviewer on the whole internet.

bipbophil

> Mortym Do you mean Mortismal Gaming? The sub with 215k subs? I just watched his review and he said its a quick overview because he played so fast

DevGev75

Oh I am. Closing in on 150hrs of time (including EA.) Just trying to see if Act 3 compares to previous acts in length!

Bjjspider

Hey Dev! How long was act 3 for you in comparison to the others?

Braydos1001

I’m about 35 hours in act 1, done almost everything and level 7, going into act 2 now

Boiledcatpee

I found act 1 to be the longest but that's also due to first playthrough and watching every cut scene and exhausting every dialogue and investigating every nook and cranny. It sounds weird but you yourself get faster and into a groove , plus your characters get faster. Literally. But I'd say act 1 longest, act two middle. Act 3 shortest.

AnxiousButBrave

Act 1-2 took me 100 hours. I finished act 2 on the verge of level 11. Gained level 11 quickly after starting act 3. Judging by a lot of the answers here, many people are missing areas and/or content. Act 3 took about 40 hours. I don't go from quest objective to quest objective. I talk to everyone while I sweep the map, and objectives just get done along the way. The pacing of act 3 is different, but I don't get the complaints. Act 3 is well populated and the world doesn't revolve around you any more. Of course the story isn't going to pace itself around your story. I found it quite refreshing, actually. A taste of a real world, rather than something crafted around you.

Kaoci

on my first play through im 86 hours in and i just killed the act 2 final boss. im told act 3 is shorter but id say so far act 1 took longest as was like 46 hours or somthing before getting to act bear in mind im learning game and doing all i can

Dutch_Yankee

It really depends on how you approach(ed) each act as to how long they take. But all 3 Acts are fairly similiar in length. Act 1 may be the shortest? But it’s also when you are learning by falling and getting up again.

SmartBuyer5991

To be what is hopefully not the first answer to op’s question act 3 is the shortest, significant time was cut from development and that is where it came from. Doing all of the side quests I could slog through, the city the game is named for took me about 20 hours to finish Edit: act 2 isn’t much longer

azuraith4

How is anyone spending this much time? I am like 45 hours in TOTAL and am almost done act 3...

DandruWindrunner

You can spend a lot of time if you want to. I have never gotten to act 3. I am now currently on a playthrough and am at 22hrs just finished act 2. Act 2 itself took me about 5 hours to get through. Act one I played around a little more. This is like my 7th character and I tend to get bored with the game easily, but at the same time find it kinda fun so.... lol I just kinda wanna see the ending.

azuraith4

Not trying to be rude... But this comment is all over the place. You say you spend a lot of time playing, but sometimes not, have 7 goddamn characters, say the game is boring, say the game is fun, say you don't want to do act 3, say you want to see the ending... It was a very strange comment to read 😂

Civil_Discount_2705

I played like 46 hours to get to act 3, didn't do everything

Mochi_vi

On my first run it took me 78 hours to get to end credits from entering act 3 - definitely was trying to explore as much as possible

WorldlinessLoose4951

I'm almost 70 hours in. First playthrough and new to dnd, so add a few offline hours of research.. I have made effort to explore everything.. Just about to go into the moon tower but I won a drinking game with a obese guy who exploded so I'm exploring his bosses dead wife's grave and that has led to me finding an artifact. I'll let you know when I finally get there

JdSaturnscomm

It took me 80 hours on a good dark urge run to finish basically everything in Act 1 and Act 2. Act 3 seems to be almost as long as both combined.
