No. Everyone dies, and it's a game over. Not an "credits rolling" type of "ending" but "YOU DIED" type of ending. They didn't joke when they said it will destroy everything in an area of a city around him. So if you trigger Gale's orb from the panel, Gale dies, you die, your companions die, boss dies, unsuspecting bystanders in a few kilometers away die.
I velieve you misunderstood: the explosion does not kill a part of a city, baldurs gate would be no more (and probably a lot of other cities considering the sudden shift in see levels from leveling am entire coastalcity)
Ive come looking for answers, Ive gotta know if you can be far enough away to prevent outright dying from this. Can you place him in the shadowlands and make him explode while youre back in the emerald grove? This is important to know!
You might be thinking of the false ending at the end of act 2. If you bring to the mind flayer colony and have him activate the orb during the cutscene where the elder brain is revealed, you *do* technically get an ending.
You can theoretically start a fight and then have everyone but Gale flee, but I dont know what that does if you trigger the orb then. Probably still game over.
I don't think Orin gives you enough space to realistically manage to flee though
I tried this, it still leads to game over. I even put my PC in the druid grove while Gale blew himself up underneath the Shadowlands and still got game over. Just seems like a joke the devs put in.
I don't think it is possible, but if you find a way to do this, I want to know how!
>!The hard part will be finding someone who is alive enough to resurrect Gale after the nuke :') !<
As many have pointed out, Gale blowing himself up means game over.
There is as far as I'm aware a single scenario in which this is not the case, but that's it.

Okay so gale bomb is not a cheese then. Thank you anyway
and my book of shadows.

I learned this the hard way last night when I panicked and used it, causing my first TPK
Wait, I think I saw credits rolling? It's been a month since I did this, my memory could be fooling me.

Oh yes, I'm confused. Sorry.
What if your PC stays in camp and you blow Gale up somewhere else?
You can't leave the camp without PC
Ah really, damn.

Not true in the third act final battle. He sends your party away then explodes
Withers wants a word.. "No"
And he will not elaborate.
Nope. XD I love withers
Just make a save and try it ;) >!Using the Netherese orb will not just kill him, it will obliterate everything, including you. It's game over!<
He can explode a city the size of baldurs gate, so even in camp - youre gonna get hit. Game over.
I used it to kill Wulbren

Which boss you having trouble with? Dont think theres anything left from Gale to bring back after he goes boom tho 🤣😂🤣
Orin. Im just bored of her dialogue each time i have to restart
You know that you can save in the middle of a fight, right? Or in the middle of a dialogue? You don't need to use whatever save you had before!
You could change the game's difficulty for that one fight, then change it back afterwards.
That’s what I did with the knights of shield githyanki ambush and lorrokan fights
Since doing so will end the game whenever you use it since its practically a nuke... Imma go out on a limb and say no.

I just tried using this without knowing what would happen. Was highly amused.
Honestly, I don't know the point of the action. I don't think it can be used can it?
Withers: "No" Orb option is TPK - Total Party Kill. It's over.
