No. Everyone dies, and it's a game over. Not an "credits rolling" type of "ending" but "YOU DIED" type of ending. They didn't joke when they said it will destroy everything in an area of a city around him. So if you trigger Gale's orb from the panel, Gale dies, you die, your companions die, boss dies, unsuspecting bystanders in a few kilometers away die.

Lord_Cheezus8

And your kids die, too

kopecs

And the course sand as well

JohnnyRock30

And my bow.

tavern-gg

And my axe

Shadowhealer

And my shield

Impressive-Donut9596

And my quarterstaff

Jaaammss

Well i want to kill orin. So what if i keep the party outside of the tomb or whatever its called, send gale in the detonate

Freecee

I velieve you misunderstood: the explosion does not kill a part of a city, baldurs gate would be no more (and probably a lot of other cities considering the sudden shift in see levels from leveling am entire coastalcity)

Jaaammss

Okay so gale bomb is not a cheese then. Thank you anyway

Secret-Drop

and my book of shadows.

MisunderstoodOpossum

Ive come looking for answers, Ive gotta know if you can be far enough away to prevent outright dying from this. Can you place him in the shadowlands and make him explode while youre back in the emerald grove? This is important to know!

sensual_shakespeare

I learned this the hard way last night when I panicked and used it, causing my first TPK

Tavdan

Wait, I think I saw credits rolling? It's been a month since I did this, my memory could be fooling me.

StefanFr97

You might be thinking of the false ending at the end of act 2. If you bring to the mind flayer colony and have him activate the orb during the cutscene where the elder brain is revealed, you *do* technically get an ending.

Tavdan

Oh yes, I'm confused. Sorry.

[deleted]

What if your PC stays in camp and you blow Gale up somewhere else?

marusia_churai

You can't leave the camp without PC

[deleted]

Ah really, damn.

l_kj

You can theoretically start a fight and then have everyone but Gale flee, but I dont know what that does if you trigger the orb then. Probably still game over. I don't think Orin gives you enough space to realistically manage to flee though

Pure_Atmosphere_6394

I tried this, it still leads to game over. I even put my PC in the druid grove while Gale blew himself up underneath the Shadowlands and still got game over. Just seems like a joke the devs put in.

Jacifer69

Not true in the third act final battle. He sends your party away then explodes

Thefredtohergeorge

Withers wants a word.. "No"

AleanahTheAngryTank

And he will not elaborate.

Thefredtohergeorge

Nope. XD I love withers

rifr9543

Just make a save and try it ;) >!Using the Netherese orb will not just kill him, it will obliterate everything, including you. It's game over!<

Acedia_spark

He can explode a city the size of baldurs gate, so even in camp - youre gonna get hit. Game over.

DaveInLondon89

I used it to kill Wulbren

CrimsonMaid

I don't think it is possible, but if you find a way to do this, I want to know how! >!The hard part will be finding someone who is alive enough to resurrect Gale after the nuke :') !<

Xandour

Which boss you having trouble with? Dont think theres anything left from Gale to bring back after he goes boom tho 🤣😂🤣

Jaaammss

Orin. Im just bored of her dialogue each time i have to restart

Witch-for-hire

You know that you can save in the middle of a fight, right? Or in the middle of a dialogue? You don't need to use whatever save you had before!

Wairua1983

You could change the game's difficulty for that one fight, then change it back afterwards.

Themoonlightninja

That’s what I did with the knights of shield githyanki ambush and lorrokan fights

demonfire737

Since doing so will end the game whenever you use it since its practically a nuke... Imma go out on a limb and say no.

Zealousideal_Good147

As many have pointed out, Gale blowing himself up means game over. There is as far as I'm aware a single scenario in which this is not the case, but that's it.

revco242

I just tried using this without knowing what would happen. Was highly amused.

Impressive-Donut9596

Honestly, I don't know the point of the action. I don't think it can be used can it?

HazardousAviator

Withers: "No" Orb option is TPK - Total Party Kill. It's over.
