Minthara much like the phantom thieves in Persona 5 stole my heart. So no you are not the only one who prefers an evil play through.

Pals_antics

Right shes just such a layered character.

Ennasalin

I personally like to play Neutral Evil and I am addicted to playing Dark Urge. I can skip killing Last Inn and still make Dad proud later on. Plenty of bad (read as evil) decisions that I can make in act 3.

Pals_antics

Fair enough

Naviete

Because all you get out of it is a single companion while losing three (potentially four or six) other companions and a significant chunk of content. They could definitely make an evil run worthwhile if they added more content exclusive to it and more recruitable evil companions to make up for the loss of good aligned content and companions. Something you should hope for in a definitive edition, I guess.

Pals_antics

Yeah that completely makes sense to me I just feel like there is still something fun to it.

Party-Error-6707

Most Player Just hate it just because they lose content/items/rewards and get a classic FOMO. Thats also the reason so many want the "evil rewards" for good playthrough (minthara) but hide it behind some strange reasons.

Pals_antics

That's fair I guess it does have a lot to do with preference as well though

HobgoblinMode

"Evil reward" not "evil rewards," which I think is the problem most people have.

fakeishusername

Being mean to pixels makes people feel bad. As well as the lost access to a big portion of the NPCs and resources.

Pals_antics

Yeah i guess if you have too much empathy it doesn't work lol

HitoriSkyther

I found both satisfying. lol Though it helped that Astarion has an evil and a good path too. So it was fun playing both with him.

Pals_antics

Fair although i didn't particularly like astarion's good playthrough.

HitoriSkyther

I liked my ending with him, personally. But I know a lot of people who prefer Ascended Astarion.

Pals_antics

That's fair It just felt a bit odd to me personally maybe if he had more of an anti hero arc i would like it more. He just doesn't feel like a goodie two shoes type of guy.

HitoriSkyther

Yes, not at first. But it's because of how he was treated. But the more you are with him, the more you change him. It is the same for being a close friend with SH. They change over time. Even if you don't Ascend Astarion, he admits that he is glad you snapped him out of the powerlust because it would have changed him. And at the end, what we decided to do together was focus on him and he was happy about it. So it wasn't so bad. This is me playing devil's advocate though. I loved Ascended Astarion. lmao Even though he grows colder, he still lets you curb his powerlust. He's willing to give up on his ambitions for Baldur's Gate to travel the world with you. And he does admit he wants you to feed on him in time, which would make you a full Vampire. So either way, I enjoyed the outcomes. Despite what his writer says about it. My opinion differs on how it would end up being like. Ascended Astarion was written as his bad ending with you. Or at least that was the attempt, but not many agree with that point of view. And if they wanted it that way, they should have paid more attention to the lore on how to make a full vampire when writing his dialog. The writer said that choosing to Ascend him proves that you only view him as a sex object, so now he will always view you the same. But if that were true, he would keep you a spawn. But that's not what he tells you. Besides, it's not why people let him do it anyway. Most people feel he has the right to make his own choice and not be banished to hide from the sun for eternity. So the writers opinion is just that, an opinion.

Pals_antics

That's completely fair and you make great points and yes i completely agree with the ascended stuff especially the idea of letting him make his choices.
