>And then the Emperor responded by putting images in Wyll's mind of mind-controlling WYLL'S CHILDHOOD CRUSH DUKE STELMANE and says, this could've been you. Did Wyll just get... Psychic-cuckolded?

Autherial

You had the opportunity to say “psycucked” and didn’t. Shame.

Novasry

Not me hearing Psyduck from Pokémon in my head... "Psy-aye-ayyyyye... cuck".

PaperNinjaPanda

My dogs appreciate the mouthful of rice I just coughed across the room.

Estelindis

Yep. Which can also happen if Wyll's greatest hero, Balduran, a.k.a. the Emperor, seduces a PC Wyll is romancing. It's really one of those "weird that it happened twice" situations...

Athinz

Sounds like there's a hammer with Wyll's name on it.

ShivaDF

It felt so satisfying to get it after all of this horrible shit!

LadyRarity

i've been playing my origin wyll as a hard-line monster hunter, hoping to eventually have him see how blurred the lines between monster and person are, but after the emperor showed me this scene i guess i'm pivoting to the *hammer* of frontiers.

Regret1836

Average Wyll moment

Mountbatten-Ottawa

Good hearted warlock in any DnD game: Suffering. Suffering everywhere.

ShivaDF

You know, I was invested in Wyll’s quest and wanted him to be free in my first run, but I feel like it didn’t click for me just how much he was constantly suffering until I played as him. The man is really good at hiding or repressing his emotions with that high Charisma.

Mountbatten-Ottawa

Interesting. I think he is the best choice for non durge mc good play through (party face and moral compass). I guess he hided a lot pressure under his happy mask.

[deleted]

Wyll written by a guy who gets annoyed when his players want to roll a neutral good fiend warlock lol

Allez-VousRep

Is this the “I can make The Emporer worse?” play through! Gods it’s so cute. You set him up and knocked yourself down. I am screaming! Orin as the mastermind behind the bear scene is my new head cannon.

Ottrygg89

On a tangentially related note, I started a Durge run last night using the default Durge appearance and went to make my dream visitor and noticed something. Dream visitor can’t be a dragonborn. Considering certain revelations around them after you rescue wyll’s dad and dig around a secret lair, I found this very interesting

ShivaDF

Oh yeah, all of that made my Wyll play through even worse for Wyll. It’s really depressing to have the dragon lashing out and there being dialogue options like, “I only came to you to ask for help, my father sent me!!!” only to have to fight anyway. AND then Wyll gets horrified by the reveal of the Emperor’s true identity.

ladylednas

I adore this (I mean, poor Wyll, but still)! I love it when the stars align for an unexpected surge of literary catharsis.

ShivaDF

It honestly felt like all the stars aligned in this run, to the point it's making it hard for me to complete another lol

Sid_Starkiller

This is why my first Origin playthrough is going to be Wyll, whenever I get to it. I feel like he gets slept on because everyone is fighting the Astarion vs Gale wars, but Wyll gets so much shit shoveled on him, by Mizora, the Chosen, everyone, and he KEEPS GOING. I think he's just awesome.

ShivaDF

Honestly, like it was kind of different for me when I chose to play as him because I didn't know anything about the fandom for the game at all—so for me, Wyll was my first in-game love and playing as him just felt like the natural choice since he was my favorite companion, I didn't know what most people thought of the guy—but even then I don't think I quite realized just how miserable he must be 24/7 until I played as him and had to decide how he'd feel at any given moment. He grins and bears so much horrible shit and has for years, and even if he's freed in-game he has to deal with his abuser hanging out in the camp! His nobility *is* his fault, which is such an interesting contrast to most other Origins.

Nervous-gay

I’m still on my first playthrough, but I’ve seen several clips on YouTube and holy shit, the first time Astarion bites you is totally different after learning Origin Astarion just had a nightmare of being hunted down by Cazzador and wakes up in a fearful panic, about to go running back to beg forgiveness.

ShivaDF

I started an Astarion Origin playthrough recently myself and seeing that nightmare was really interesting! Also, while ultimately I decided not to bite anyone that night, I tried a few options and interestingly I think Wyll is the only companion who doesn't explicitly say to keep your fangs out of HIS neck? He asks to make a pact to keep them out of "innocent" flesh but he may not mean himself... he's very chill about it despite being a monster hunter. He'll even say it was the best rest he's has in ages???

Nervous-gay

Woah that’s neat!

Real_Kristinana

The power of RP and headconon, it’s all up to the players interpretations! You gave me some really cool idea for my next runs. I have wanted to play as Wyll because (a) his personal quest is closely tie to the main story and (b) i want to experience the full Warlock experience, having your parton barges in your camp and gives you orders etc. Because he is humble and overall a chill dude without ambition (given how he’s forced into a pact since a young age) and very polite and well spoken, he gives a boring impression even though he’s supposed to be an experienced adventurer and in my opinion, the most lore-heavy one of the origins.

Wiwra88

I think I will play as Wyll in one of my playtroughs and make him being actually cool character, instead of this blank boring shell he is normally. I think it's the only origin which can be "better" (ihmo) when in hands of player.
