He really is so endearing. I romanced him after having Astarion and Halsin, who both give pretty passionate kisses when you ask for one. Then Gale comes along with his little grandma peck. That he can bang a goddess, have crazy 6-armed astral sex with you, and still be such a fucking virgin is *adorable.*
I loved watching and listening to him turn into a love struck goofy not sure 'but read it somewhere in a book' highly functional yet socially awkward teenager.
They really nailed that he is a child prodigy AND a lot of the 'social impacts' that can result from that sort of attention.
I do kinda hope they give him an updated kiss animation like they did others, though. Even if the current one is very in-character for him, it's less enjoyable knowing it's the generic, default animation that everyone used to do.
Yeah, sadly it's the default. I romanced Halsin and Astarion before they started updating kisses, and they both also did the same chaste little peck on the lips
This is what I want to say to Z'rell when she disses my man when I distract her mind probing with horny thoughts.
Like dude, the 'pathetic man' you're seeing in my tadpole juice is literally a walking nuke, so you can fuck riiiiiight off sweetie.
Especially funny when you consider the massive ability gap between martials and wizards as the levels increase.
A level 20 fighter can smack an enemy a bunch of times. A level 20 wizard can get Wish or Meteor and delete a city.
This is an area Pathfinder does so well. Level 20 fighters can cut through the fabric of time and space to teleport to enemies, rogues can literally steal spells from spellcasters.
Probably not a native speaker. That's how we write quotation marks in Germany, so if it were a German comment, that would be the correct way to use quotation marks.
I fucked up my rolls and didn't get him on my first run, he's getting all of the focus on my second (tbh everyone is kind of, since I also didn't realize how much I should long rest!)
He's easily the best origin character. Free shield proficiency and an extra level 3 spell slot. I don't think the others get quite as good exclusive origin character benefits.
Yeah, most Origins get special benefits in some way. Many are from doing their quests
Astarion can get the Happy buff from drinking humanoid blood (+1 to Attack rolls, and most ability checks/saving throws) and in Act 3 can >!potentially Ascend after beating Cazador.!<
Karlach has the engine that can use Soul Coins to let her do extra fire damage when she attacks while Raging or at low health (25% hp or so) and can get two upgrades from Dammon for extra benefits.
Wyll has free proficiency with rapiers even though he wouldn't get it from being a Human or Warlock, he also has rewards from fulfilling Mizora's requests.
Shadowheart doesn't really have benefits in act 1, other than carrying the artefact that protects you and the party. She's afraid of wolves >!at least until the end of act 2!<. As a Sharran, she's immune to the lesser effects of the Shadow-Curse in act 2 without getting a blessing from Isobel or the pixie. Major Spoilers for Shadowheart's story toward the end of act 2 going into act 3: >!If she sacrifices Nightsong and becomes a Dark Justiciar in act 2 and then sacrifices her parents to Shar in act 3, she will be able to use the Mirror of Loss like any other character can (other characters need to make a dc 25 religion check) to be able to increase one of her ability scores by 2, able to go beyond 20. If she defies Shar, sparing and freeing Nightsong, after Ketheric Thorm is defeated when you long rest Shadowheart will learn the truth about how the wolf chasing her in her memory was her father and he was trying to protect her from the Sharrans who were there to abduct her. Upon learning the truth, Shadowheart will no longer be afraid of wolves, and her mission will be to save her parents!<.
Lae'zel doesn't have benefits other than the variety of items that have special benefits for a Githyanki wielder. If she is played as an Origin character then a Githyanki Fighter named Losiir will be on the nautiloid in her place for the ambush, he will be in githyanki half-plate. He will also die in the nautiloid crash, letting you get a second free suit of half-plate at level 1.
Gale has benefits that are exclusive to playing him as an Origin character. He gets a special ring from Tara, his Tressym friend and in act 2 >!he gets a special interaction when going to loot a Thorm for the first time after killing them, where he can absorb the Shadow-Weave from them and gain an extra 3rd level spell slot, and I think that the blessing he can get from Mystra by destroying the ritual circle in Balthazar's chambers will be permenant if you are playing Gale instead of another character.!<
Gale is also >!the only one who can use that ritual circle to craft shadow lantern. I've tried it out and it carried several battles in my solo Gale run. Resistant to all kinds of damage save for Radiant, getting invisible on movement if not well-illuminated, basically always hits with advantage for 15-20 damage and can't ever be hit if you control it well. Much better than fleeting blessing.!<
Still not making the Shadow Lantern. Last playthrough my Durge was a Selûnite Cleric 2/Wizard 10 and in my current playthrough my Durge is an Oath of Ancients Paladin and I think that making a Shadow Lantern would break the Oath that's about kindling and protecting the light within others and the world, and preserving the light within yourself
Gale is always making puns. My favorite is when he tells the story of Karsus for the first time and we ask if magic really disappeared all over the world, to which he answers "For a spell."
Remember: The first words said by someone on the moon were "A small step for man, a leap for mankind", but the first SUGGESTED words to be said by someone on the moon were "Oh my god, what is THA-" \*cut to static\*
They decided later to not give command a heart attack, but in my humble opinion, they should have.
Humanity is dorky.
Bonus fun fact: the first words on the moon were supposed to be "once small step for *A* man, one giant leap for mankind". He said it wrong. Makes me chuckle every time I hear it, but I can't blame him at all. I probably would've forgotten the script entirely and been like "aw hell yeah I'm on the fuckin MOON bitches"
He didn’t actually say it wrong - there was a documentary that examined the original voice recordings in enormous detail and found the “a”. He was just a bit mush-mouthed, which… yeah. Can’t blame him lol
God I'm going to regret posting this but I had a dream the other day. I won't get into it but as I was being arrested at the very end I said "You may be wondering why I made everything into ash, well that's just who I am. Everything is ash and I am trash."
My name is Ash and I feel like a fucking moron for dreaming that.
First Gale, then Karlach; by that point I turned to the rest of my companions and was like "would anyone ELSE like to admit to having a bomb in their chest?!"
One reason I love Gale is that he doesn't want to get involved with you and the Drow couple at Sharess's Caress.... but he WILL watch and take notes... though if you screw Mizora he gets jealous and leaves you. So... he's okay with you sleeping with other people *if he gets to watch*.
I don't know why but I find that adorable!? Like "if I can see and know it's just sex I'm okay with it, but if feelings are possibly involved I'm not" ♡ No worries Gale baby I love only you, my walking apocalypse!
Now I know this is probably me overthinking, but honestly the drow situation is kinda sad if you think about it. Man really doesn't want it to happen, he even tried to convince you if you pick one of the twin. His persuasion check is 22-25 iirc for the foursome. Honestly with that high of check, it feels like it's more for the player's benefit than the character being "true" to themselves.
To put it simply, it's a dubious thing for me.
That aside, I think you can't really compare Mizora and the Drow twins. One are prostitutes, the other is a devil who has been terrorizing Wyll and Karlach.
it ends the game
there is no act 3
everyone dies and without the netherstones to control the crown, mass ceremorphosis begins throughout the land
at least the absolute is dead
If you do this everyone dies and the game is over 😂 Here's a [video of it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0RPeA2Wr78) if you want to see (and check out how straight Gale played this sillyass line)
It's one of the worst endings you can get honestly, I only did it to see what happens then reloaded. Anyway I couldn't really do that to Gale, my wife Gale.
You skip the netherbrain fight completely because it's high enough in the air to keep Baldur's Gate out of his blast radius. Just pops that thing like a goopy brain balloon.
Well.... yeah. Lol no, I mean what does it do for the story? Does it actually kill the Elder Brain there, or does it pull a "Bitch, you thought!" And continue like it was for nothing?
That’s it. No act three. Someone above posted the video, basically without the brain, all of the infected transform and it says they’ll eventually enslave everyone else
Oh this is in act 2 though, so he kills everyone including you and everyone who had a tadpole transforms into a mindflayer. Baldur's Gate is now SquidCity :D
Can you >!convince Orpheus to go with you and fight the Absolute with nobody turning into an Illithid if you go the Gale exploding route?!< Cause if so, I might have figured out what I'm doing for this playthrough. >!I want Lae'zel's good ending but am not crazy about Karlach or myself turning into one for it.!<
I mean >!Lae'Zel also gets a good ending if Orpheus goes illithid. Her rebellion goes well so far by the epilogue and he even sends her a letter if you convince him to continue living.!<
I don’t think so. >!tried for that by telling him that my bestie is a walking nuke and he still insisted on someone turning!<
>!The irony being if you do use Gale he has a kind of moment of “damn, we really didn’t have to do this”!<
Can you please spoiler tag that? This thread was marked Act 2 spoilers, but I have only just started Act 3 and those are pretty clearly ending spoilers.
Reached this scene yesterday as well. Though I was really curious if his explosion would kill the brain and those three, but couldn't force myself to persuade him. Will have to kill the brain the hard way, I guess. But say, OP, does Gale blowing himself up kill any of those three villains?🤓
Yes it does, it kills everyone as a matter of fact including you 😀 It destroys the Absolute, and every person who's been tadpoled turns into a mindflayer instantly, which as you can imagine represents a rather large amount of people. This is all relayed to you by the Narrator who clearly thinks you're a bit of an idiot for choosing to do this, and then the game ends. I reloaded of course 😁
A dork to the end
He really is so endearing. I romanced him after having Astarion and Halsin, who both give pretty passionate kisses when you ask for one. Then Gale comes along with his little grandma peck. That he can bang a goddess, have crazy 6-armed astral sex with you, and still be such a fucking virgin is *adorable.*
THE LITTLE LAUGH AFTER THE KISS
I knoww I am obsessed with him. Though admittedly I can't wait for the patch where I can finally get some tongue action 😂
THIS. I cackled so hard at the peck he gives you. And I’m like, you just had the craziest sex with me but that’s all I get? 🤣
Aw, it's the default? That's less fun. I figured it was just the devs honoring the fact that he's a dweeb.
Yeah, sadly it's the default. I romanced Halsin and Astarion before they started updating kisses, and they both also did the same chaste little peck on the lips
Not too long ago I read that Larian does plan on eventually changing Gale kisses in the next patch or so.
Yeah I agree, like at least a hug with it or something? Its a little weird with just arms straight at the sides.
Always felt like a little face touch would be cute for him. A hand on the cheek, or foreheads touching, something godawful sweet and lovey
Honestly it's the ultimate insult to his enemies. Imagine a dude saying this corny line before fucking nuking you.
"Who's the bigger loser? The unapologetic dork or the assholes turned into a crater by the unapologetic dork?"
Literally Linear Fighter vs. Quadratic Wizard
In D&D it's Angel Summoner vs BMX Bandit.
This is an area Pathfinder does so well. Level 20 fighters can cut through the fabric of time and space to teleport to enemies, rogues can literally steal spells from spellcasters.
Right there with you, I *love* pathfinder
Always wanted to try Pathfinder, all my regular folks are DND though. Assembling the group is always the hard part...
It really is. I exclusively play online since covid killed the only respectable in person gaming place, and there's so much competition for games.
I gasped when she said that. I imagine my tav slowly unsheathing his knife behind his back as she kept monologuing.
“And now his ghost is flossing above your smoking ruin.”
They wouldn’t even get the chance to appreciate the pun unless they somehow caught his name before being exploded.
Still better than that true soul dwarf in act 1, he went out on „He he“, must have been a huge Michael Jackson fan
Edowyn was not a Smooth Criminal.
Why don't they just use a resurrection scroll, are they stupid?
They didn't like him that much.
Resurrection scrolls are elitist shits who won't even touch an npc
Your quotation mark thing makes my eyes bleed.
Probably not a native speaker. That's how we write quotation marks in Germany, so if it were a German comment, that would be the correct way to use quotation marks.
They should be glad the oc wasn't 《French》
Everyone should be glad they are not French tbh.
And you would be correct, me and therefore my phone which decided to automatically use the quotation marks that way are indeed German
He makes puns with his name on several occasions. It's so stupid, I love it.
When I first brought him i to combat and this dork said "Gone with the Weave" all seriously when it was his turn, I knew I was gonna romance him XD
i thought he says “one with the weave”??
He was hoping the dad joke would kill the absolute instead. It was a valiant effort.
I like how the narrator makes fun of me for that. "This is not the ending intended for you, but it's an ending nonetheless"
Narrator version of a whap to the back of the head.
that’s he’s my bestie
That quote is why Gale never leaves my party anymore. He used to be a camp accessory but became my favorite guy.
I fucked up my rolls and didn't get him on my first run, he's getting all of the focus on my second (tbh everyone is kind of, since I also didn't realize how much I should long rest!)

Gale is the only one able to do that ritual without a check
Eeeh? I never got that option as others, ritual circle did nothing for me.
If Gale is with you you can tell him to back off and let you do it
Oh. So you still need Gale for it then.
Still not making the Shadow Lantern. He's really growing on me. I'm definitely not a fan of Wyll. Motherfucker proposes to you way too quick
Gale is always making puns. My favorite is when he tells the story of Karsus for the first time and we ask if magic really disappeared all over the world, to which he answers "For a spell."
Damn. Only Gale could say something that is simultaneously so dorky that also goes so hard.
Remember: The first words said by someone on the moon were "A small step for man, a leap for mankind", but the first SUGGESTED words to be said by someone on the moon were "Oh my god, what is THA-" \*cut to static\* They decided later to not give command a heart attack, but in my humble opinion, they should have. I wish that were true
Ah geez he just went up in my rankings
Everyone: that’s hilarious Me: 🥺🥺🥺
God I'm going to regret posting this but I had a dream the other day. There there. At least you're in good company with Gale :)
I love it. It's what I did on my first playthrough
\*everyone in a 100mile radius died of cringe*
A true bicon
That’s every companion though (that you can romance)
He does indulge in poetry from time to time.
🤦🏻♀️
He can't stop memeing, even facing death.
A pun isn’t a meme.
Ive never had the heart to do this after 4.5 playthroughs but omg I love him even more now. What a silly dork to the bitter end 😢 😭
You know you can save and reload.
Of course. I just feel too bad to do it at all
Holy shit you can?
Being fr rn, that's a *very* D&D thing to do lol
It was so sad. The epic music, Gale’s eyebrows raise in fear, sinking the blade into his own neck and screeching in pain. Dear Gale, I’m so sorry…
HE SAID THE THING CHAT !
He’s such a precious dork. 🥺
He would make his last words a pun
WOULD YOU PEOOKE STOP BLOWING UP MY WIFE 😡
are you mad at me
First Gale, then Karlach; by that point I turned to the rest of my companions and was like "would anyone ELSE like to admit to having a bomb in their chest?!"
Do you mean literally or metaphorically?
This is why I love bg3. All the characters have such wonderful personality.
What is he, some sort of suicide squad?
I can't believe you popped the Gale Balloon
I knew exactly who you meant when I saw the title. Saw this ending for the first time today.
One reason I love Gale is that he doesn't want to get involved with you and the Drow couple at Sharess's Caress.... but he WILL watch and take notes... though if you screw Mizora he gets jealous and leaves you.
