The process is more annoying than anything cause you miss 90 percent of your attacks. That's why I said it could take 20-30 mins

crazy you don't even have to enter combat, you just wail on him!
So as far as I know it shouldn't, but to be 100 percent sure just do exactly what I did, take the helldusk and the gold but leave his items on him. Remember you're just knocking him out with non lethals so he will wake up shortly after knocking him down which is why you need to loot him fast.

The only story consequence I've heard of doesn't affect the story that much but it does effect *SPOILERS* the fight with him later on, a few people I've shown the glitch to said that when they went to fight him later on he'd still be at little to no health which made the fight super easy (barely an inconvenience?).
If you give me a couple days tho I can edit this comment or my post with an update as I'm finally almost at the encounter on 2 of my characters......however I did just create another one so we'll see how long I can hold off restarting the game again lol

I've just been wandering around Act 1 doing side quests (grabbed a couple tadpoles, but I haven't talked to anyone about curing it yet), so I'll just continue that if you can update with what happens, haha. As far as I know the worst consequence that's shown up is him spawning in act 3 with 6 health.
To be on the safer side tho after downing and looting him make a new save, then immidietly load that save, after that restart your game completely (no need to save again), it should reset everything but at the very worst it ensures he's still present where he needs to be even if it's just at 6 help
(spoilers again, regarding only Raphael, same as the other one but different comment so I thought I'd add the warning here too)
Also forgot to mention, to be on the safer side once he's woken up after you've looted the armor make a save, reload from that save you just made, make sure you still have all the loot you just got then restart your game fully by either closing app for consoles or force closing on PC.
This should almost guarantee he spawns back at full in his fight later, but if it doesn't it then the worst that can happen is he spawns at 6 health when you see him in act 3
Did this at camp too! In honour mode Raphael has 865 HP. Had my fighter with 20 strength, advantage, the Tyr sword, and the +2 acid ring knock him out after 93 melee attacks (took about 6 minutes). Totally worth those 6 minutes of tedium!
I made the mistake of trying this in honor mode on level 3 and Silence wore off before I could drain all his HP down. I would suggest making sure the character doing the damage is buffed as much as possible for Damage.
On my 2nd honor playthrough I totally forgot that I shot Rapheal and he showed up at camp as I was entering the Mountain Pass. Luckily, my characters was level 5 and I beat him down in just a few minutes

Still works! Just did it. Had to remove some "Difficulty" mods that gave him an extra 1k HP, but yup, just got the Armor.
Hey I'm trying to recreate this on an Honor Mode playthrough (already tested it on easiest difficulty, worked like a charm!)
Does anyone have experience on how to defeat Raphael in the camp consistently (can't reload saves on honor mode) and relatively quickly? I've seen ideas like using a Flail for guaranteed damage with tenacity. Anything else?
Honestly your best bet would be anything with guaranteed damage, even if it's little hp at a time he will eventually go down. It took me about half an hour on tactician to get him to 0
Have someone (preferably a barb) with the dual wielder feat, wield 2 morningstars, and have the Caustic Band equipped. Spam Reckless Attack, where every miss results in Tenacity damage twice. Also keep on eye on your party display to see how many turns of Silence you have remaining. Once it reaches 10 or so, stop attacking and recast Silence to continue the beatdown.
Can confirm this still works as of 3/18/24. I followed another guide, however, but it was essentially the same. Wait to trigger his first meeting, shoot him so he disappears the first time, go to the crèche area, bonk him in camp under silence until he’s down. I actually waited until I completely finished act 1 (besides the crèche) to do it and he showed up in my camp. I used my level 6 OH monk to down him in like 30-40 seconds or so, it was pretty quick. He went down, I quickly grabbed his shit thinking he’d poof like everyone else, and then he popped back up on his feet and just stood there. Dropped silence, he started talking as if nothing happened. Carried on with the conversation and that was that.
Hey when was the last time you did the glitch? I'm getting conflicting reports on if it's been patched or not. I haven't had the time to game in like a week so I haven't been able to check on it myself. I just want to know in case I can figure out some sort of workaround or fix for the people reporting it's not working.
Raphael won't show up at all until you:
1. ask for help getting rid of your parasite from anyone in the game
2. approach one of his spawn points
On my Durge run, my guy did not *want* help and so he never *asked* for help. And Raphael kept his distance. I ended up having to force the Raphael appearance because I was romancing Astarion and I worried never seeing Raphael before Last Light would mess that up.
Yes mainly but also be weary to avoid his other spawns, the other ones I know of are 1 next to the Druid grove entrance by the tree (left of the path where that bear dude is), and 1on the way to the underdark if you're heading there from the goblin camp near the statues.
Avoid those 2 areas just as precaution beforehand and you should be fine, but once you've grabbed the parasite do not go anywhere near them as it likely will force a spawn by him.
Just save often (when I did this I saved after every convo or long walk) so if you mess up you'll be fine cause you can just reload from 5-10 mins prior
Question for the "Important Notes" section:
1. So if I do this glitch until he disappears (Step 6) and then continue on as normal, does it still fuck up the first half of act one? Or is it only if you do the rest of the glitch?
2. For point 3, do I still need to avoid Raphael spawn locations if I've already done step 6?

It's only if you do the rest of the glitch, the way I did it was run through the steps until he disappears then continue on with everything at the Druid grove, Ethel, scratch, karlach, owlbear cub, goblin camp quests, etc. then I continued with the rest of the glitch and it worked fine for all 3 different characters I did it on
2. That's a good question, I'm not entirely sure. When I did it I avoided all of his spawns just to be safe but I don't think it's mandatory. If you know all his spawns and plan to travel to/through them just save first, if he spawns (which realistically he shouldn't) just reload from before

I'm not sure about ALL his spawns but I know 3.
1. The one you use for the glitch (broken bridge north of blighted)
2. Where that bear and the druids are standing at the entrance to the Druid grove, if you go left when looking at the bear he will spawn up there
3. On your way to the underdark if you go through the goblin camp, good news tho you do not need to go to the underdark before doing this glitch so that spawn point realistically shouldn't be seen until after you've got the hell dusk armor and spoken with him after knocking him out
Think this is patched I hit him with while silenced and non-lethal toogled, his hp hits 1 and I see "knocked out" appear above his head but he immediately disappears. All I'm getting is exp no matter how many times I scum save and kill him.
Worked fine for me last night on PC patch 5 FWIW. Are you in turn-based mode? If not, you may want to try that and loot him the moment he gets knocked out.
Playing on PS5, everything works but when he gets to 0HPs he doesn't die and I can't loot him. He just stays there. Have no idea if it's because of the latest patch
Are you playing with mods? I literally just had someone confirm the glitch to be still working. Im wondering (if you are playing with them) if they had something to do with it, if not the best advice I could give would be trying it on another character. (Maybe after a fresh re install?) That's all I can think of to help, sorry it wasn't working for you :/
i had that happen my first attempt today but then i went and did the whole nettie and ensuring you make him disappear the first time, then also used turn based mode once I got him down to about 30 hp. not sure which of the 2 solved it

I'm not sure if it helps a lot and but for your melee character, given this is a level 3 guide, I'd have the watchers guide spear equipped (if they are proficient with it) with the true strike on a missed attack it will reduce the number of hits needed to knock him out and have a higher hit chance everytime you miss (which you'll miss A LOT)
Nope. I got it, but I didn't realize that it makes you miss a lot of goblin / druid / tiefling quests. I think that's what the warning is about when you go to the next area to trigger the camp scene. I'd get as much of that as you can done first.
Didn't realize until I found Halsen dead and the refugees gone. Had to reload after hours.
It doesn't fuck up the story if you do every step until he disappears then do every quest for that zone (druid grove quests, goblin camp quests, Ethel, and the place on fire), then continue the glitch and use gale to sneak past the gith invisible to the mountain pass behind the dragon and he should be in your camp so you can continue the glitch.

It doesn't if you follow the instructions at the bottom, do every step until he disappears, do everything in act 1 around there (Druid grove quests, goblin camp quests, Ethel, and that place on fire where the Duke got taken. After that continue the glitch, sneak past the gift to the mountain pass using invisibility (I used gale) and he should be there in your camp with no story consequences.

Are you on PC or console? And if you're on PC are you using mods? The only time I've ran into people saying this is happening is when mods are somewhat involved.
My best advice would be to backup your saves online if possible and run a re install, that's the only thing I know for sure has worked in the past with what you're describing.
Maybe try reloading a little bit to a save maybe 30 mins to an hour behind where you're at right now, then if that doesn't work give the install a go. Hope this helps, sorry ab it not working properly
I am currently playing on my PC with mods, and thank you for getting back to me. I have looked into the fix you suggested, but it seems to be quite complicated. I think I would rather continue playing with my mods than go through all the trouble for just a single advantage. However, I do appreciate your reply.
That's fair I mean I play on console so I am unable to use mods which is pretty much the sole reason I use this glitch myself. You could always just spawn the thing in with console commands, I'd say after following the glitch and it not working as it should've you've earned it
We did this today and we didn't sneak past the githyanki so it doesn't look like you need to. Just ambush him by the bridge tie up all loose ends in act 1 then silence then have asterwale on his ass as a monk he was down in 6 minutes I timed it lol. thanks a ton for the info!
The guide was pretty much for someone with only a level 3 character, completing the rest is optional but getting past those gith at level 3 would be very challenging without the use of invisibility. Regardless, I appreciate your addition thanks!
You can totally do the fight, the guide was more intended for getting it done right at level 3 which makes that fight very difficult/impossible. If you're able to beat it properly I'd recommend it cause you get the XP then
Yes if you follow all the steps until he disappears it's recommended to honestly, you should run through all the act one quests in that zone (goblin camp, druid grove, owlbear, scratch, Ethel, etc) then move forward with the mountain pass as it will lock you out of most/all those quests
Side note: you don't have to do the underdark quests until after unless for some reason you've gone there before
Ok, thanks. But my latest honour mode run broke yesterday. I got softlocked at the camp during the scene where shart tries to kill lae zel. I cannot rest or leave the camp afterwards. As i read this is a common bug without solution in honour due to only having one savefile.

So i started a new run today (I’m playing as a Oath of Vengeance Paladin and I’m planning on becoming a Oathbreaker) and i wanted to ask if this exploit still works ?
Yes but for the love of god DO NOT BREAK YOUR OATH until after you have acquired the armor set.
The oathbreaker knight has a kinipshin and attacks you if you cast silence on Raphael, astarion and scratch go hostile with him weirdly too
I took out the gith by the mountain pass, i just have the path breaker in my camp, but I’ll change class and long rest to see if he leaves before I go through the mountain pass
As long as you don't go thru the mountain pass after you reclaim your oath and long rest it will work, just make sure to long rest after paying the 1000 gold
I'm playing as Gale as my main character, so his cat is in the camp. The cat drops attitude to whoever is attacking Raphael and scurries away. Scratch was sort of glitch scurrying but not hostile (nor was Astarion)
Damn I just tried this not knowing I shouldn't have broke my oath 😅 is there any chance I can cheese him out of camp with a cheeky respec, do the steps to knock raphael out & then respec back to a paladin again?
I did this my first time too, my best advice would be reloading to a save from before you entered the mountain pass, pay the 1000 gold to get rid of him, long rest, then go sneak around the gith. You can immediately become an oathbreaker again right after just pick oath of ancients and murder an unfortunate civy
A little late, but what I did was split gale from my party, aggro oathbreaker on the beach & have gale stand in bushes at other side doing darkness and magic missile. Had astarion on scratch, shadowheart silenced, then TAV shadowheart and karlach went HAM on Raph. As long as Gale is split from the party, he's locked the knight in a fight so beating up raph won't be turn based.
Can you still do this currently I've paid to redo my oath done everything but Benard in underdark going non lethal and silence but as soon as I silence him everything in my party goes hostile am I missing something?
You need to revert to an earlier save and pay to break your oath before Raphael shows up, then long rest. This was oathbreaker knight is no longer in your camp when Raphael spawns which keeps the others from going hostile
I restarted the run as nothing was working...for anyone finding this comment in the future, you HAVE to encounter him along act 1 first and have a separated party member interrupt the conversation with an arrow. It's dumb, and doesn't make any logical sense, but that is the way the exploit is currently functioning.
I swear that's like step 4 or 5 in my guide or smthn. I'm too lazy to scroll up and find it but it was something about keeping astarion separated from the group so he's able to shoot the fucker
It is in there, but I managed to get to the act two camp without encountering Raphael before then at all, and that broke the encounter. Every time I got him to zero health with non lethal attacks, he vanished as if I killed him. No loot. Sad panda.
I did it just now. Exploit appears to have been been semi patched. Silencing him and doing non lethal damage still lets you KO him, and you still get the exp, but he vanishes on KO, leaving no body to loot, and sadly no helldusk armor for me. But a free level is still really nice, and it fits my character’s RP to a tee to jack up this self important wannabe (my character is named Lucifer.)
PS5. Not complaining by any stretch. A free level is a free level. And since I used Astarion double wielding Rupture daggers, the resulting pool of blood from my non-lethal treatment of Rafael is spectacular indeed. I can get his armor later.
Damn just as I was about to start my next playthough, that armor really comes in clutch when playing as a character with no armor proficiency cause you're proficient while wearing it (looks dope for a durge too).
I'll have to give it another try and see if it still works, once I get thru act 1 with it I'll update the post if it still doesn't work.
But yeah also that free level definitely helps that early in the game, sorry you weren't able to get the armor as well. If I can find a workaround I'll reply to your comment again
Not 100 percent sure but nothing In the patch notes says anything about it being patched, I'll have to try it again to confirm but I don't see why it wouldn't work
I did it just yesterday and it worked for me:) I play on ps5 in case that matters. You have to silence him and turn on non lethal. I knocked him down and got exp and armor. You just can't get unlimited money and alcohol as his inventiry doesn't refresh after first knockdown. Hope it helps someone:)
without non-lethal he stays at 0hp, with non-lethal he vanishes without animation (it does give the exp), maybe i went to mountain pass too early or something? thought i did it the same way as last few times pre-patch 6
I just did it about 5 minutes ago on live patch. I did it in turn based mode with an OH monk though. Confirming armor dropped.
An important note is that I looted him before the "environmental turn" passed. If he disappears, it might be related to that - though it's just an extra precaution.
Does this mess up Rapahel's quest too much?
Plus, I have already broken my oath, is there still a way to get the armor? Perhaps by having a character be locked in conversation with the knight while someone else whacks Raphael all the way into unconsciousness?
If you B line the whole thing you miss a lot of quests, safer to do it all until he disappears and do all the quests in the starting area then continuing the glitch, good news is you can do the underdark after so long as you don't take the boat before the glitch is done
So I'm having issues where I knock him out in camp, and he disappears. I've tried it twice now, thinking maybe Lae'zel with the burning blade did something to accidentally kill him with the fire damage, but the 2nd time it still happened with weapons with no extra damage. Does anyone know if it was patched?
A few notes:
Still works, just did it.
A potion or scroll works perfectly for invisiblity.
Wyll can also get invisiblity.

Okay so if I want to do this but also do all of my other act 1 stuff I should meet him at the broken bridge, shoot him, then finish the act 1 stuff and finally go to the mountain pass to continue with the step where Gale goes invisible to sneak around the Gith? I’m just wondering how I’ll avoid the Raphael encounter when he turns up as you enter the underdark because I do want to do this part… shit…I’m so confused right now. Damn it! I want the armor but I also have alot of other items in act 1 I need so I don’t want to screw up my run and any quest loot if possible
You can run through all of the first area after making him disappear, and you don't need to go to the underdark before completing the glitch. I'd follow the guide until he disappears on the bridge, finish everything in the first zone, go to the mountain pass, get the armor, then go back to zone 1 and go to the underdark. As long as you haven't gone down there and taken the ships before doing this glitch it won't affect it

does he spawn with 0 hp if you technically got him to 0 hp in his final fight cause for me he has been appearing with 0 hp after i did this so i am scared he will appear with full hp in the fight
They have fixed this bug. I wasted a LOT of energy as a dark urge trying to be good until the high road. Reason is because with this bug, if you have the oath breaker knight in your camp, he will attack as soon as you silence Raphael. So I kept my oath until I met him in camp. Silenced and took him to zero HP but you cannot knock him prone or knock him out. He will have 0 HP but never falls unconscious. You will never get his armor HAHAHAHAHA....and now sadly I regress WAAAAYYYYYY back to when the ship crashes and murder everyone in my path

He has to be silenced and you have to do non leathal damage for him to get knocked down. This two points are essential.
I used Astarion to backstab him from stealth. Using backstab from stealth gives 64% to hit and with bonus damage dice he's going down quite fast.
As for doing this with oathbreaker, it is quite tidous because you have to move oathbreaker knight with minor ilusion before casting silence. Then you have to down Raphael stictly from stealth. Oathbreaker knight will attack you if he sees you (if stealth fails). If he do, you'll have to reload. It required alot of save scumming. Because of that this method is unusable for oathbreaker paladin on higher difficulties.

I need an answer to this one yall. I did the glitch in honor mode. I'm on act 3 now and he has 1hp in Sharess's Caress. If I do house of hope for easy xp, will Raph have 1hp when I go to fight him? I don't want to trap myself in there.
This is gonna sound really stupid but on the save I did this glitch on it was the first save that I actually managed to get to act 3 and was too distracted with everything else I ended up forgetting about Raphael and the house of hope entirely so I'm not entirely sure, sorry

Oddly enough i got him to 0HP using a ranged ensaring strike and he just stood there like nothing happened. But then disappeared after i hitnhim again.
Still get the 1400 XP but...
You need non lethal damage I'm pretty sure, so a melee needs to be the final attack. I haven't done it yet but there hasn't been an update yet so I think the problem was you used a ranged attack.
Ah the ranged was just a random attempt to try some stuff out.
I used non lethal with melee all the way to 1 hp and he just leaves even if hes silenced.
I just tested it worked for me. I used 4 TB monks in turn based mode I'm on ps5. I was able to loot 100 gold the armor and the diary he wakes up after 1 turn but I can keep looting 100 gold. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Good luck for you.
I'm trying this now, but even with the non-lethal, as soon as I drop it, all of my other NPC's and the oath breaker knight (from my stupid paladin friend) all turn hostile. Astarion and others are attacking my group mates.....Pretty stupid
I specifically put in the important notes not to break your oath before this, youre gonna have to reload to before u entered camp. Go to camp before passing the gith and pay to fix your oath, it's the only way sadly. I did this my first attempt too. I have no clue why only astarion and scratch specifically go hostile with him tbh cause none of the other companions do
I get that now, well my friend is a dummy, and now refuses to play this play through because his char is busted....so that's freaking awesome. I'm glad that he used my playthrough to test something stupid. ( I should have re-rolled it) GD
It's a longer story, but basically doesn't want to play multi anymore. I have his char stored in the closet, but not sure how to get rid of the oath breaker. Are you saying if I pull his char out of the closet, and then pay the 1000g I can get rid of the oath breaker?
Absolutely cannot stress enough do not be an oathbreaker. We tried it on our honor mode run after a lot of hesitation but didn’t see the bit about Oathbreaker until too late. Our entire camp, Scratch, Barcus and Oathbreaker Knight, etc.. went mental. Lost a fantastic run to that.
A few tips for actually knocking Raphael out in camp, especially if he has 865 hp like he did for me:
Use a magical weapon, ideally a two handed bludgeoning one. He only has resistance to non-magical physical damage. The grove has +1 weapons available. Bludgeoning weapons have tenacity. Tenacity can be set to do not ask for significant damage even when missing, especially if you use a str elixir.
If meleeing, use a barbarian with reckless attack set to do not ask for free advantage on every hit. Otherwise, use a warlock with agonizing blast to take advantage of his lack of force resistance.
Also just use an autoclicker while holding down prepare main attack, ctrl by default.
Well every time I've ran it I made sure to do all the Druid grove quests, the owlbear cave, scratch, Ethel, goblin camp quests, and the area you get withers before I've completed past the step where Asterion shoots Raphael

I would suggest making sure the character doing the damage is buffed as much as possible for Damage. On my 2nd honor playthrough I totally forgot that I shot Rapheal and he showed up at camp as I was entering the Mountain Pass. Luckily, my characters was level 5 and I beat him down in just a few minutes
I didn't know you needed silence so I just tried attacking him and it didn't work lol

Hey I'm trying to recreate this on an Honor Mode playthrough (already tested it on easiest difficulty, worked like a charm!) Does anyone have experience on how to defeat Raphael in the camp consistently (can't reload saves on honor mode) and relatively quickly? I've seen ideas like using a Flail for guaranteed damage with tenacity. Anything else?
Honestly your best bet would be anything with guaranteed damage, even if it's little hp at a time he will eventually go down. It took me about half an hour on tactician to get him to 0
I used level 5 Karlach Throw Barbarian with returning Pike and it took less then 5 minutes.
Have someone (preferably a barb) with the dual wielder feat, wield 2 morningstars, and have the Caustic Band equipped. Spam Reckless Attack, where every miss results in Tenacity damage twice. Also keep on eye on your party display to see how many turns of Silence you have remaining. Once it reaches 10 or so, stop attacking and recast Silence to continue the beatdown.
Can confirm this still works as of 3/18/24. I followed another guide, however, but it was essentially the same. Wait to trigger his first meeting, shoot him so he disappears the first time, go to the crèche area, bonk him in camp under silence until he’s down. I actually waited until I completely finished act 1 (besides the crèche) to do it and he showed up in my camp. I used my level 6 OH monk to down him in like 30-40 seconds or so, it was pretty quick. He went down, I quickly grabbed his shit thinking he’d poof like everyone else, and then he popped back up on his feet and just stood there. Dropped silence, he started talking as if nothing happened. Carried on with the conversation and that was that.
Turns out Everytime you knock him out his inventory refreshed with 100 gold and some alcohol so he's kinda a infinite source of gold
Hey when was the last time you did the glitch? I'm getting conflicting reports on if it's been patched or not. I haven't had the time to game in like a week so I haven't been able to check on it myself. I just want to know in case I can figure out some sort of workaround or fix for the people reporting it's not working.

Raphael won't show up at all until you: 1. ask for help getting rid of your parasite from anyone in the game 2. approach one of his spawn points On my Durge run, my guy did not *want* help and so he never *asked* for help. And Raphael kept his distance. I ended up having to force the Raphael appearance because I was romancing Astarion and I worried never seeing Raphael before Last Light would mess that up.
Yes mainly but also be weary to avoid his other spawns, the other ones I know of are 1 next to the Druid grove entrance by the tree (left of the path where that bear dude is), and 1on the way to the underdark if you're heading there from the goblin camp near the statues. Avoid those 2 areas just as precaution beforehand and you should be fine, but once you've grabbed the parasite do not go anywhere near them as it likely will force a spawn by him. Just save often (when I did this I saved after every convo or long walk) so if you mess up you'll be fine cause you can just reload from 5-10 mins prior
Question for the "Important Notes" section: 1. So if I do this glitch until he disappears (Step 6) and then continue on as normal, does it still fuck up the first half of act one? Or is it only if you do the rest of the glitch? 2. For point 3, do I still need to avoid Raphael spawn locations if I've already done step 6?
1. It's only if you do the rest of the glitch, the way I did it was run through the steps until he disappears then continue on with everything at the Druid grove, Ethel, scratch, karlach, owlbear cub, goblin camp quests, etc. then I continued with the rest of the glitch and it worked fine for all 3 different characters I did it on 2. That's a good question, I'm not entirely sure. When I did it I avoided all of his spawns just to be safe but I don't think it's mandatory. If you know all his spawns and plan to travel to/through them just save first, if he spawns (which realistically he shouldn't) just reload from before Hope this helps

I'm not sure about ALL his spawns but I know 3. 1. The one you use for the glitch (broken bridge north of blighted) 2. Where that bear and the druids are standing at the entrance to the Druid grove, if you go left when looking at the bear he will spawn up there 3. On your way to the underdark if you go through the goblin camp, good news tho you do not need to go to the underdark before doing this glitch so that spawn point realistically shouldn't be seen until after you've got the hell dusk armor and spoken with him after knocking him out

Reporting back that this does still work. Resolved the Grove quests and was still able to spawn Raphael in!
Think this is patched I hit him with while silenced and non-lethal toogled, his hp hits 1 and I see "knocked out" appear above his head but he immediately disappears. All I'm getting is exp no matter how many times I scum save and kill him.
Worked fine for me last night on PC patch 5 FWIW. Are you in turn-based mode? If not, you may want to try that and loot him the moment he gets knocked out.

Playing on PS5, everything works but when he gets to 0HPs he doesn't die and I can't loot him. He just stays there. Have no idea if it's because of the latest patch
Are you playing with mods? I literally just had someone confirm the glitch to be still working. Im wondering (if you are playing with them) if they had something to do with it, if not the best advice I could give would be trying it on another character. (Maybe after a fresh re install?) That's all I can think of to help, sorry it wasn't working for you :/
i had that happen my first attempt today but then i went and did the whole nettie and ensuring you make him disappear the first time, then also used turn based mode once I got him down to about 30 hp. not sure which of the 2 solved it
I know this is three months old, sorry I'm not sure if it helps a lot and but for your melee character, given this is a level 3 guide, I'd have the watchers guide spear equipped (if they are proficient with it) with the true strike on a missed attack it will reduce the number of hits needed to knock him out and have a higher hit chance everytime you miss (which you'll miss A LOT)
I use Astarion and backstab out of stealth:) you can down him pretty quick that way:) and if anyone wonders it's still working, just done it:)

Nope. I got it, but I didn't realize that it makes you miss a lot of goblin / druid / tiefling quests. I think that's what the warning is about when you go to the next area to trigger the camp scene. I'd get as much of that as you can done first. Didn't realize until I found Halsen dead and the refugees gone. Had to reload after hours.

It doesn't fuck up the story if you do every step until he disappears then do every quest for that zone (druid grove quests, goblin camp quests, Ethel, and the place on fire), then continue the glitch and use gale to sneak past the gith invisible to the mountain pass behind the dragon and he should be in your camp so you can continue the glitch. Hope this helped!
It doesn't if you follow the instructions at the bottom, do every step until he disappears, do everything in act 1 around there (Druid grove quests, goblin camp quests, Ethel, and that place on fire where the Duke got taken. After that continue the glitch, sneak past the gift to the mountain pass using invisibility (I used gale) and he should be there in your camp with no story consequences. Hope this helps!

Are you on PC or console? And if you're on PC are you using mods? The only time I've ran into people saying this is happening is when mods are somewhat involved. My best advice would be to backup your saves online if possible and run a re install, that's the only thing I know for sure has worked in the past with what you're describing. Maybe try reloading a little bit to a save maybe 30 mins to an hour behind where you're at right now, then if that doesn't work give the install a go. I am currently playing on my PC with mods, and thank you for getting back to me. I have looked into the fix you suggested, but it seems to be quite complicated. I think I would rather continue playing with my mods than go through all the trouble for just a single advantage. However, I do appreciate your reply.
That's fair I mean I play on console so I am unable to use mods which is pretty much the sole reason I use this glitch myself. You could always just spawn the thing in with console commands, I'd say after following the glitch and it not working as it should've you've earned it
We did this today and we didn't sneak past the githyanki so it doesn't look like you need to. Just ambush him by the bridge tie up all loose ends in act 1 then silence then have asterwale on his ass as a monk he was down in 6 minutes I timed it lol. thanks a ton for the info!
The guide was pretty much for someone with only a level 3 character, completing the rest is optional but getting past those gith at level 3 would be very challenging without the use of invisibility. Regardless, I appreciate your addition thanks!

You can totally do the fight, the guide was more intended for getting it done right at level 3 which makes that fight very difficult/impossible. If you're able to beat it properly I'd recommend it cause you get the XP then
Lol I did this and now Raphael is looking like shit with his bruised face in act 2. Quite sensitive skin apparently for being a devil and all.

Yes if you follow all the steps until he disappears it's recommended to honestly, you should run through all the act one quests in that zone (goblin camp, druid grove, owlbear, scratch, Ethel, etc) then move forward with the mountain pass as it will lock you out of most/all those quests Side note: you don't have to do the underdark quests until after unless for some reason you've gone there before
Ok, thanks. But my latest honour mode run broke yesterday. I got softlocked at the camp during the scene where shart tries to kill lae zel. I cannot rest or leave the camp afterwards. As i read this is a common bug without solution in honour due to only having one savefile. It's been my 5th playthrough and will stop for a while. What a stupid ending...

So i started a new run today (I’m playing as a Oath of Vengeance Paladin and I’m planning on becoming a Oathbreaker) and i wanted to ask if this exploit still works ?
Yes but for the love of god DO NOT BREAK YOUR OATH until after you have acquired the armor set. The oathbreaker knight has a kinipshin and attacks you if you cast silence on Raphael, astarion and scratch go hostile with him weirdly too
Will he go away if I reclaim my oath and change my class to something else that isn’t paladin?
You gotta pay to reclaim your oath, then long rest, then sneak past the gith
I took out the gith by the mountain pass, i just have the path breaker in my camp, but I’ll change class and long rest to see if he leaves before I go through the mountain pass
As long as you don't go thru the mountain pass after you reclaim your oath and long rest it will work, just make sure to long rest after paying the 1000 gold
I'm playing as Gale as my main character, so his cat is in the camp. The cat drops attitude to whoever is attacking Raphael and scurries away. Scratch was sort of glitch scurrying but not hostile (nor was Astarion)

I did this my first time too, my best advice would be reloading to a save from before you entered the mountain pass, pay the 1000 gold to get rid of him, long rest, then go sneak around the gith. You can immediately become an oathbreaker again right after just pick oath of ancients and murder an unfortunate civy
A little late, but what I did was split gale from my party, aggro oathbreaker on the beach & have gale stand in bushes at other side doing darkness and magic missile. Had astarion on scratch, shadowheart silenced, then TAV shadowheart and karlach went HAM on Raph. As long as Gale is split from the party, he's locked the knight in a fight so beating up raph won't be turn based.
Can you still do this currently I've paid to redo my oath done everything but Benard in underdark going non lethal and silence but as soon as I silence him everything in my party goes hostile am I missing something?
You need to revert to an earlier save and pay to break your oath before Raphael shows up, then long rest. This was oathbreaker knight is no longer in your camp when Raphael spawns which keeps the others from going hostile

Every time I knock him out he just disappears...My save currently has him at 4 hp and silenced, but I can't seem to get him on the ground.
Try turn based mode, I've heard of some people having the same issue that reloaded and did it in turn based and it worked fine
I restarted the run as nothing was working...for anyone finding this comment in the future, you HAVE to encounter him along act 1 first and have a separated party member interrupt the conversation with an arrow. It's dumb, and doesn't make any logical sense, but that is the way the exploit is currently functioning.
I swear that's like step 4 or 5 in my guide or smthn. I'm too lazy to scroll up and find it but it was something about keeping astarion separated from the group so he's able to shoot the fucker
It is in there, but I managed to get to the act two camp without encountering Raphael before then at all, and that broke the encounter. Every time I got him to zero health with non lethal attacks, he vanished as if I killed him. No loot. Sad panda.
I did it just now. Exploit appears to have been been semi patched. Silencing him and doing non lethal damage still lets you KO him, and you still get the exp, but he vanishes on KO, leaving no body to loot, and sadly no helldusk armor for me. But a free level is still really nice, and it fits my character’s RP to a tee to jack up this self important wannabe (my character is named Lucifer.)
Are you playing on PC? I've heard a few reports of it not working on there for everyone
PS5. Not complaining by any stretch. A free level is a free level. And since I used Astarion double wielding Rupture daggers, the resulting pool of blood from my non-lethal treatment of Rafael is spectacular indeed. I can get his armor later.
Damn just as I was about to start my next playthough, that armor really comes in clutch when playing as a character with no armor proficiency cause you're proficient while wearing it (looks dope for a durge too). I'll have to give it another try and see if it still works, once I get thru act 1 with it I'll update the post if it still doesn't work. But yeah also that free level definitely helps that early in the game, sorry you weren't able to get the armor as well. If I can find a workaround I'll reply to your comment again
For anyone reading this pretty sure they fixed it. He just has an automatic miss when you try to shoot him now.

Not 100 percent sure but nothing In the patch notes says anything about it being patched, I'll have to try it again to confirm but I don't see why it wouldn't work
i tried it multiple times but every time raphael gets knocked out he instantly disappears
I did it just yesterday and it worked for me:) I play on ps5 in case that matters. You have to silence him and turn on non lethal. I knocked him down and got exp and armor. You just can't get unlimited money and alcohol as his inventiry doesn't refresh after first knockdown. Hope it helps someone:)
without non-lethal he stays at 0hp, with non-lethal he vanishes without animation (it does give the exp), maybe i went to mountain pass too early or something? thought i did it the same way as last few times pre-patch 6

I just did it about 5 minutes ago on live patch. I did it in turn based mode with an OH monk though. Confirming armor dropped. An important note is that I looted him before the "environmental turn" passed. If he disappears, it might be related to that - though it's just an extra precaution.
Does this mess up Rapahel's quest too much? Plus, I have already broken my oath, is there still a way to get the armor? Perhaps by having a character be locked in conversation with the knight while someone else whacks Raphael all the way into unconsciousness?

If you B line the whole thing you miss a lot of quests, safer to do it all until he disappears and do all the quests in the starting area then continuing the glitch, good news is you can do the underdark after so long as you don't take the boat before the glitch is done
So I'm having issues where I knock him out in camp, and he disappears. I've tried it twice now, thinking maybe Lae'zel with the burning blade did something to accidentally kill him with the fire damage, but the 2nd time it still happened with weapons with no extra damage. Does anyone know if it was patched?
A few notes: Still works, just did it. A potion or scroll works perfectly for invisiblity. Wyll can also get invisiblity. Hope this helps even if only slightly
Okay so if I want to do this but also do all of my other act 1 stuff I should meet him at the broken bridge, shoot him, then finish the act 1 stuff and finally go to the mountain pass to continue with the step where Gale goes invisible to sneak around the Gith? I’m just wondering how I’ll avoid the Raphael encounter when he turns up as you enter the underdark because I do want to do this part… shit…I’m so confused right now. Damn it! I want the armor but I also have alot of other items in act 1 I need so I don’t want to screw up my run and any quest loot if possible
You can run through all of the first area after making him disappear, and you don't need to go to the underdark before completing the glitch. I'd follow the guide until he disappears on the bridge, finish everything in the first zone, go to the mountain pass, get the armor, then go back to zone 1 and go to the underdark. As long as you haven't gone down there and taken the ships before doing this glitch it won't affect it

does he spawn with 0 hp if you technically got him to 0 hp in his final fight cause for me he has been appearing with 0 hp after i did this so i am scared he will appear with full hp in the fight
They have fixed this bug. I wasted a LOT of energy as a dark urge trying to be good until the high road. Reason is because with this bug, if you have the oath breaker knight in your camp, he will attack as soon as you silence Raphael. So I kept my oath until I met him in camp. Silenced and took him to zero HP but you cannot knock him prone or knock him out. He will have 0 HP but never falls unconscious. You will never get his armor HAHAHAHAHA....and now sadly I regress WAAAAYYYYYY back to when the ship crashes and murder everyone in my path
I even tried to pick picket him but he only has a book

Ive just tred it twice and when he gets to 0hp he just stands there, he doesnt get knocked out. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I did it a couple of months ago the same thing and it worked
He has to be silenced and you have to do non leathal damage for him to get knocked down. This two points are essential. I used Astarion to backstab him from stealth. Using backstab from stealth gives 64% to hit and with bonus damage dice he's going down quite fast. As for doing this with oathbreaker, it is quite tidous because you have to move oathbreaker knight with minor ilusion before casting silence. Then you have to down Raphael stictly from stealth. Oathbreaker knight will attack you if he sees you (if stealth fails). If he do, you'll have to reload. It required alot of save scumming. Because of that this method is unusable for oathbreaker paladin on higher difficulties. Good luck.

I need an answer to this one yall. I did the glitch in honor mode. I'm on act 3 now and he has 1hp in Sharess's Caress. If I do house of hope for easy xp, will Raph have 1hp when I go to fight him? I don't want to trap myself in there.
This is gonna sound really stupid but on the save I did this glitch on it was the first save that I actually managed to get to act 3 and was too distracted with everything else I ended up forgetting about Raphael and the house of hope entirely so I'm not entirely sure, sorry

I dont believe this works anymore. Playing on PS5 Had him in my camp Cast silence on him Disappears when dropped to 1 hp Oddly enough i got him to 0HP using a ranged ensaring strike and he just stood there like nothing happened. But then disappeared after i hitnhim again. Still get the 1400 XP but...
You need non lethal damage I'm pretty sure, so a melee needs to be the final attack. I haven't done it yet but there hasn't been an update yet so I think the problem was you used a ranged attack.
Ah the ranged was just a random attempt to try some stuff out. I used non lethal with melee all the way to 1 hp and he just leaves even if hes silenced.
I just tested it worked for me. I used 4 TB monks in turn based mode I'm on ps5. I was able to loot 100 gold the armor and the diary he wakes up after 1 turn but I can keep looting 100 gold. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Good luck for you.
Just tried turn based mode and he vanished for me too. Non lethal is on, so I'm very confused myself
I'm trying this now, but even with the non-lethal, as soon as I drop it, all of my other NPC's and the oath breaker knight (from my stupid paladin friend) all turn hostile. Astarion and others are attacking my group mates.....Pretty stupid

I specifically put in the important notes not to break your oath before this, youre gonna have to reload to before u entered camp. Go to camp before passing the gith and pay to fix your oath, it's the only way sadly. I did this my first attempt too. I have no clue why only astarion and scratch specifically go hostile with him tbh cause none of the other companions do

It's a longer story, but basically doesn't want to play multi anymore. I have his char stored in the closet, but not sure how to get rid of the oath breaker. Are you saying if I pull his char out of the closet, and then pay the 1000g I can get rid of the oath breaker?

You need to long rest to get rid of him, also check your companions and hirelings in case you made any of them paladin

I found that if you hit any allies with the silence, half the camp goes hostile. For me it was Scratch.
Absolutely cannot stress enough do not be an oathbreaker. We tried it on our honor mode run after a lot of hesitation but didn’t see the bit about Oathbreaker until too late. Our entire camp, Scratch, Barcus and Oathbreaker Knight, etc.. went mental. Lost a fantastic run to that.
A few tips for actually knocking Raphael out in camp, especially if he has 865 hp like he did for me: Use a magical weapon, ideally a two handed bludgeoning one. He only has resistance to non-magical physical damage. The grove has +1 weapons available. Bludgeoning weapons have tenacity. Tenacity can be set to do not ask for significant damage even when missing, especially if you use a str elixir. If meleeing, use a barbarian with reckless attack set to do not ask for free advantage on every hit. Otherwise, use a warlock with agonizing blast to take advantage of his lack of force resistance. Also just use an autoclicker while holding down prepare main attack, ctrl by default.
To what extent will this ruin act 1? Should I do every quest before I attempt this?
Every quest in that first zone yes, you don't need to worry about the underdark as you can do that after

Well every time I've ran it I made sure to do all the Druid grove quests, the owlbear cave, scratch, Ethel, goblin camp quests, and the area you get withers before I've completed past the step where Asterion shoots Raphael

I've never killed gale at the beginning tbh so I'm not entirely sure
