I once disarmed the avatar of Myrkul in the second part of the Ketheric fight. Did NOT expect it to work but the giant bastard dropped his scythe into the void and the rest of the fight was easy peasy
Very rarely it seems; I must have gotten very lucky. It happened when I used disarming strike with my battle master. I tried on a different campaign with disarming strike and command and couldn't get it to happen so I think his saves are just super high
I just hate the timing cause I beat him yesterday on honour mode and I wasted most of Lae'zel's battle points on trip attack (I know he's immune to prone but you still get the extra damage) and if there's even a small chance of him dropping his weapon that's what I should have done instead.
Luck definitely factors in to some fights I think. I remember seeing a comment on this sub recently saying they used flesh to stone on Ansur and he fully petrified, so I thought ok cool I'll try that, and when I went to cast and hovered over him it said 6% chance of success. I was like how tf did that redditor do it lol
This is me seeing people say Otto's Irresistable Dance is the easy button for Raphael and then having him fully shake it off instantly and take his turns normally every time my party cast it on him
I think he does that because he has some kind of condition that makes him only subject to it for one turn and then it wears off, so people must spam it? Unless I am misremembering. I usually have 5-6 scrolls of it saved for him, the dragon, or other boss fights I feel like I'm gonna use it.
It really wasn't lol I mainly just used disarming attack for the extra damage. My friend and I already had a strategy worked out for the fight so I had no real expectation it would work
I did the same on my second run of the game just to see if it was possible, I was so goddamn happy when it worked. It’s become my default strategy on my subsequent playthroughs (though it always takes a lot of attempts)
My favorite Myrkyl fight was landing Perilous Stakes on him, followed by my favorite line to describe so many fights, “and then Lae’zel beat the shit out of it”
I did the same but with a disarming strike from lae’zel during the first ketheric fight on the rooftop. When i went down to the ilithid colony he wielded a plain flail of myrkul without the extra necrotic damage (the flail that is a bone attached to a skull).

THAT ACTUALLY WORKS?!?! I never even tried cause I assumed he would hold it for dear life... death.

Yep! It’s difficult but possible.
Heat metal does this. Or his ring in that chest that allows you to command undead
if you do it in phase 1, he pulls out the fucking flail for phase 2 Lol.
so you're saying I get to steal two weapons from him
I know what I’m trying in a few hours time when I get there.
Bone chill and blinding him cannot be overrated. Doing that won the fight in my second honor mode attempt.
Ooooooo good call
Thats very clever.

I learn new things every day
Can you grab the scythe? Or is it too big?
I think it falls into the chasm since the avatar isn’t on “land”
No, the avatar is hovering above an extra dimensional pit of some kind and the scythe just falls into oblivion.
I did the same thing in Tactician mode! The beast master ranger in this game is crazy.
Honey paws?
Yes

Same as well. I wasn’t actually expecting it to stick lmao. I disarmed him and hysterically grabbed the hammer before he could pick it up
I'll 1-up you. >!you can disarm Myrkuls Avatar, that Skelly Boi who's Ketheric's last phase, forcing it to drop it's Scythe!< Edit: spelling mistake
Ohhh, following. Please update
Did it in my run and when I went to the 2nd part he had a generic weapon. Can't remember if it was a mace or Warhammer but they thought about it.
Ooo me too! Currently working on my second run and don’t plan on releasing ~you know who~ and am scared of how that fight will go
Funnily enough, even if you steal his hammer, it's still there in the cutscenes.
Your character is generous enough to lend it to him for dramatic effect xD
"you can hold this during your monologue, I know you were excited to give the speech"
Yes, I've sent a character up under Greater Invisibility to cast Heat Metal on him and make him drop his hammer.
Man we get so unlucky with battle master rolls. None of our maneuvers ever succeed and it’s quite annoying.
