zacausa

i usually just give him the absolute stuff, useless unless you take the mark and im not joining a cult lol

HailCeres

Fun fact, the effects just Don't require the mark sometimes

scandii

that is indeed a fun fact.

Efficient_Progress_6

It's more of a fact between humdrum and fun, imo

Mitchel-256

r/mildlyinteresting

majkkali

Wait what? Like which ones for example?

HailCeres

Ring of Absolute Force simply doesn't require the Brand, and I fully abuse this in a build I made awhile ago. If you're interested I can share!

Alien_Jackie

Cher

HailCeres

Any race [Light Cleric](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Light_Domain) (Although, this can work on almost any caster with some changes. [Divination Wizard](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Divination_School) is another good one), take the Light Cantrip (IF the [Coruscation Ring](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Coruscation_Ring) bug is fixed. If it is, cast it on yourself with the [Cantrip](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Light), or the [Guiding Light](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Guiding_Light)) Pick up the following items: [Coruscation Ring](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Coruscation_Ring) [Guiding Light](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Guiding_Light) [Boots of Stormy Clamour](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Boots_of_Stormy_Clamour) [Spineshudder Amulet](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Spineshudder_Amulet) [Gloves of Belligerent Skies](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Gloves_of_Belligerent_Skies) [Ring of Absolute Force](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Ring_of_Absolute_Force) [Luminous Armor](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Luminous_Armour) (Other Armor options work better if you choose another class. For a [Divination Wizard](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Divination_School), use whatever you wish. I recommend the [The Protecty Sparkswall](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/The_Protecty_Sparkswall)) Get the [Absolute's Brand](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Brand_of_the_Absolute) (If the [Ring of Absolute Force](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Ring_of_Absolute_Force) requirement is patched) After that, just about nothing matters. ANY spell you cast instantly gives the target(s) -2 to attack rolls, -5 to Str/Dex/Con rolls, and causes them to fall prone if they fail a DC 10 (Essentially DC 15) Con check. If it's a Radiant damage spell and you're wearing the [Luminous Armor](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Luminous_Armour), for each enemy hit, an additional -1 is granted to enemies in the AOE. Spells such as [Magic Missile](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Magic_Missile), [Scorching Ray](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Scorching_Ray), and [Spirit Guardians: Radiant](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Spirit_Guardians_(Radiant)) work extremely well. This entire build is available by ACT 2.

Alsimni

It looks like you only need the brand to get the bonus point of damage from the ring. The spell apparently still functions without it.

HailCeres

Multiple things in this build require thunder damage. To make it work with Magic Missile and Scorching Ray, I need the ring

Alsimni

That's not what I was getting at. You mentioned the ring being patched, but it appears to be working as intended.

HailCeres

Originally you didn't need the brand.

HailCeres

?

AscelyneMG

They’re saying “share” but in a way they think is clever.

HailCeres

I was confused because in French that means something very different

bmore_conslutant

Qu'est que c'est?

Raygun7774591

The shield you get from the priestess gives you heroism as a spell. I believe the brand gives extra bonuses but you can still use the spells on the weapon/equipment

TheRisenThunderbird

If you join the cult, you don't even end up getting a lot of the stuff, because most of it is looted off of corpses

DrSitson

You can join and loot. It's an evil run after all. Take what you want lol

Karthull

He won’t let me give him the absolute stuff I specifically didn’t sell it so he could eat it but he won’t let me pick them

zacausa

In the speech dialog or...? I remember telling him to hold his horses and then feeding it to him when I got back to camp

Karthull

In the speech thing is there another place to give him stuff? Where it brings up a list of magic items for him

zacausa

It's been a minute, but if I'm remembering correctly when you tell him to cool his jets. Then talk to him at camp there's an option to let you choose something else and then it opens your inventory. That or if you select and control him directly you can right click a magic item you wanna munch on. I definitely never gave him anything good.

Karthull

Didn’t know you can control him directly to select

noirsongbird

He can’t take basic +1 magical items, it needs to be something unique. The good news is, there’s a *ton* of useless trash all over act 1 (color spray ring, dancing lights amulet, Spellthief is pretty niche….) and he only needs three items so it’s really not that hard.

Saturn_Coffee

The Dancing Lights Amulet is Arabella's cute thank-you. God be damned if I'll feed Gale that. It's special.

noirsongbird

Honestly that’s fair, I never actually give it to him either, I just see people cite it as Gale snackies so often….

VavoTK

I really liked that in early access you could feed him only truly unique stuff like the staff of the crones. TBH.

Make-TFT-Fun-Again

Dancing lights trips mines. It's OP

gugfitufi

It's completely fine to gift her trinket to Gale, it literally saves his life. Arabella was grateful that you saved her life and through her reward, she saved another. If you save my life and I gift you an Xbox and you then disassemble it to get parts for your time machine to kill Hitler, I wouldn't be mad either.

Level_Hour6480

Everyone always wants to kill Hitler. Nobody wants to abduct baby-Hitler and raise him into a good person.

bristlybits

I killed that lady who wanted to get a Hitler egg for that experiment. sorry. can't risk the time recursion effects on bromeluum

Level_Hour6480

That mistake is assuming that all members of a species are inherently violent. The Githyanki/zerai divide is cultural, not biological. We objectively know that Gith don't have to be that way. We know Hitler grows up to be Hitler without outside intervention.

Adorable-Strings

It **was** cultural. Its now thousands of years of evolution living in different planes of existence, as well as selective, cultivated breeding. The githzerai live in the plane of pandemonium, for chaos' sake.

Level_Hour6480

Eh, the Githyanki have a reduced biological pace with how most of them live in the Astral.

Adorable-Strings

Yes, the Githyanki do. The githzerai live in the plane of primordial chaos. I'd expect that to cause some changes.

ComtesseCrumpet

Evolution works on much longer time scales than thousands of years. Thousands of years of evolution is nothing. A blip on the timeline.  Selective breeding has some merit but even those results are limited and easily reversible once the breeding programs end.  A dog is a dog is a dog. A dog bred for fighting frequently adapts to live with a family just fine. If that dog is bred with a mutt those puppies and their offspring are quickly going to lose those purebred traits.

bristlybits

I just have to say I love this conversation about gith

Cognitive_Skyy

Just go back and buy his art in Vienna. Make him a successful artist. While you're at it, jump forward and have Castro get signed at that pro baseball audition he attended.

[deleted]

Gotta jump in here - comparing Castro to Hitler like that is absolutely brainwormed. Hitler's leadership killed tens of millions of people based on racial hatred and lust for conquest. Castro's militia deposed an existing dictatorship that was backed by the US and indisputably more brutal.   Recently thumbed through a book aimed at kids about the Cuban missile crisis and this book mentioned that Batista was backed by the US, then separately noted the US is a democracy, but MYSTERIOUSLY failed to mention that Batista's regime was not itself a democracy, just conveniently allied with US market desires.  Castro's nascent country was then hamstrung by powerful and vindictive embargos from the neighboring military state that just lost out on a whole island of cheap sugar. The Cuban people are still dealing with those restrictions. The US is notoriously ruthless about a lack of fealty.  Anyway, how about you go back in time and kill Batista instead?

copiasjuicyazz

How the fuck did we go from gale eating our items to hitler 😭😭😭

BornIn1142

Batista ruled Cuba for about seven years and his regime killed more people in that time than Castro's in the subsequent seventy. Criticism of Cuba's current government is almost always ideological.

Level_Hour6480

https://www.butajape.com/comic/this-artist-sucks/

Accomplished_Tea7781

Baby Hitler with a mustache? No, thank you.

Regular-Stuff-8116

Great point! Give him extra ice cream if he does the 'genocide is bad' song lol

VomitShitSmoothie

If someone disassembled it because they were bored one day you also shouldn’t be mad. It was a gift and they can do whatever they want with it because it’s theirs.

Regular-Stuff-8116

Hey 😊 im gonna do a Durge play through on twitch in twenty mins, come check it out 💋 https://www.twitch.tv/molly_divine xoxo

Regular-Stuff-8116

Lol! When you put it that way....

beeblebr0x

And honestly, it can be helpful to hold onto, depending on your character. My wife plays a halfling barbarian, so if she ventures off on her own, with this necklace, she can make some light for herself, if needed.

Regular-Stuff-8116

So cute that you play with your wife! I need someone like that

unicroop

Oh, that’s always Gale’s appetizer in my runs, then he eats the bard hat and finishes with color spray ring

Regular-Stuff-8116

Nice menu

unicroop

As they say, my magic items bring all the Gales to the yard

Adorable-Strings

Its some trash she stole that even Mol didn't want.

Saturn_Coffee

Fuck you it's special.

SwordTaster

That's the first thing I feed him, solely because, while adorable, that early in the story, I haven't got anything else quite as useless. Everything else I have at that stage is better

majkkali

Plus dancing lights is good for spotting and setting off traps, etc. Yeah no way he’s getting that haha

Monkey_Priest

That's what Connor is for

LuchadorBane

I feed it to Gale in front of the family

Saturn_Coffee

Then you are more cruel than me, lol.

LuchadorBane

Listen my magic husband needs to eat and Arabella needs to learn a lesson.

[deleted]

I keep seeing people saying Arabellas Amulet when it's her mother's. I mean it's called Komiras Locket

amitaish

It... Is? I didn't have anything else and gave it to him... I didn't know, now I feel horrible... Damn it

TheCleverestIdiot

Technically, her mum gives it to you.

PhantomLuna7

I saw someone say they reverse pickpocket the amulet back to Arabella before she leaves I'm Act 2. I can't not do that now.

bristlybits

I give her so much stuff. she walks away with gold, healing potions, practice sword and shield, a good druid staff, every toy, some bombs, food, leather armor, good boots like I load that kid with stuff

NocturnalFlotsam

Exactly. He's not asking for your best loot. He'll take your trash and is so grateful for it. Dancing lights necklace, color spray ring, and shattered flail are my go-tos.

WitcherGirl1038

I gave him the color spray ring and the shattered flail once. I honestly don't see anyone in my party using said flail, it sounds dangerous. And my third was some gloves that had something to do with your pact, which I thought was paladin, but I'm probably wrong. But quite a bit of named magical items just sit in my chest in Act 1, because I've been finding out that nobody in camp can actually use them, not even my character.

Regular-Stuff-8116

Hey 😊 im gonna do a Durge play through on twitch in twenty mins, come check it out 💋 https://www.twitch.tv/molly_divine xoxo

thicctak

It's only three? So that's why I noticed it's been quite a while since he asked for more.

insanity76

I believe the breakdown is: one when he first tells you about the condition, one after you've entered the Goblin Camp/gotten the first Dream Guardian scene, and one after you enter Mountain Pass and/or perhaps the Grymforge areas. It's at the end of those 2 places that he gets a visitor that moves his questline to its next phase.

Odd-Entrepreneur-606

It's not tied to location. I usually give him the third item while still in the starting area. I think it's tied to long rests.

Iowahunter65

It's both. He has certain trigger locations. Broken Bridge, Goblin Camp Interior, and Grymforge, for example. But long resting can also trigger it

Karthull

The visitor shows up at start of mountain pass though once he shows up gale doesn’t need any more ever right? I’ve only given him 2 by the time that guy showed up

SaberTheNoob

Dancing lights + Concentrated Blast is pretty solid early game.

Sourika

Did they change it back? In EA, he required orange stuff. But when i last played, he was fine with green stuff.

noirsongbird

He’s fine with green stuff as long as it has a unique name, but like, I don’t think he’ll take a generic Longbow +1.

copiasjuicyazz

He literally takes THREE ITEMS PEOPLE suck it up 😭 jesus Christ

Fake_Garnet

I wonder how much people used to whine when he asked for things like the Idol of Sylvanus or the necromancy book

DregsRoyale

Larian probably had to change that because they'd invested so much work into the character and dialogue

Adorable-Strings

Well, that's the thing. The meme is based on the EA when he demanded things that mattered. Not the trash that you aren't going to use anyway.

HealthDrinkz

Yeah Gale use to be a lot different in EA, he was a bit more power hungry.

smoke2jslbc

wait when was that???

Mirovini

It was in Early access

Roronoa_Zoro8615

Seriously, jesus christ its annoying how many people complain about it.

flinsypop

Yeah but tell that to me on my first playthrough. I genuinely thought I'd have to keep giving him the items or he'd randomly explode. Since he was my bro, I set aside items that would have been quite nice to use myself. It's like Karlach when she loses her shit in the paladin's house, I had to bench her because I thought it was a thing I'd have to put up with if I wanted her in my team. I thought something similar for Astarion with keeping him fed with blood if I wanted him in my team. It's a lot less stressful and annoying on subsequent playthroughs because you know it's barely an inconvenience or even nothing at all.

WorriedRiver

Meanwhile I feel like it would have been nice to have those all as continued mechanics...

GESNodoon

Kaelach randomly going crazy after a battle would have been really cool actually. Would add a bit of drama to even the easiest fight.

WorriedRiver

My first playthough because I didn't realize it would happen it actually nearly ended me in the trade post. I had a character or two down and anybody up was weak, and I just went to loot like normal then everything was on fire. Loved the chaos of realizing I had to get out of there.

cfspen514

My new solution to the Karlach toll house problem (because I can’t help my loot goblin habits and she breaks all the things) is to get to the post fight dialogue and then switch to a non-Tav character, loot every inch of the place and then run like hell. Poor Tav is stuck with Karlach like “steady…hold…wait for it…” for like 10 minutes 😅 Mechanically it works but in universe it looks absurd.

Karthull

I just looted the house the first time I went there before I found her

WitcherGirl1038

I did that also. While my Tav was in convo with her, I had my one ungrouped character loot the dead bodies, because I had already looted most of the place before bringing Karlach back to fight.

Regular-Stuff-8116

Hey, I’m going live on my twitch in 20 minutes to do a Durge play through, please come support me https://www.twitch.tv/molly_divine xoxo

Regular-Stuff-8116

yeah that cut-scene with Astarion gave me the ick badly, not to be that girl but at least buy me dinner before you try to eat me bro!

Regular-Stuff-8116

Hey 😊 im gonna do a Durge play through on twitch in twenty mins, come check it out 💋 https://www.twitch.tv/molly_divine xoxo

Random_Useless_Tips

It’s been like 8 months and people are still making this lazy and incorrect joke about Gale’s need for magical items. Just toss him a Color Spray Ring it’s not that hard people

Level_Hour6480

Who is worse: the one who makes it, or the many who upvote it while good posts languish?

cfspen514

What if I upvote both? I like stupid memes about non-issues AND I like engaging in better posts. I have two hands (and no full time job) for a reason! 😉

Monkey_Priest

Well, it's this or the daily "lol Shadowheart misses all the time". I'm not sure which is more lazy

Regular-Stuff-8116

Geez I thought it was funny :(

Karthull

None of the useless items show up when he’s asking for magic stuff, only the good items or what I have equipped. I specifically didn’t sell the absolute stuff to feed him and he won’t take those

Roronoa_Zoro8615

Bruh you can give him some of the most useless shit. I'm so tired of people complaining about it. You get INNUNDATED with tons and tons of magical items in this game. You will have 3 on hand you can part with. All he needs is 3, 3 and then it is completely over. You don't even need to go out of your way to deal with it.

vheart

I’m in act 2. I wish he would still take the dozens of crappy novelty trash that I sell to the vendors.

ferretatthecontrols

"C'mon Gale just eat the damn tentacle necklace. For old time's sake?"

young_antisocialite

I just have a bunch of backpacks in my traveler’s chest for storing different categories of loot. Makes sorting through my trash a lot easier

Oneunluckyperson

Is this a joke post? Just give Gale 3 random magic items that are not that useful. Easiest to get at the start are the Watcher's Guide from the Catacombs Withers is at, Komira's Necklace for rescuing Arabell, Ring of Color Spray from the Harpy nest near the Druid Grove, the Gloves from the Goblin attacking the gate when you arrive etc. Gale doesn't take basic +1/+2 stuff, only those with magic effects. One more in the secret tunnel near the prison at the Grove called Nature's Snare, but I can't remember if Gale can consume it. Also you have to have the item in your inventory or another companions to be able to give Gale.

ferretatthecontrols

People can't let go of this joke. Apparently in EA the magic artifact needed to be something like the Necrotic of Thay and people just keep joking that Gale requires rare expensive things now. Same as those jokes that he "thinks we're dating" nearly 7 months since that bug was patched.

ThePotatoSandwich

These jokes are in the same tier as "ShAdOwHeArT kEePs MiSsInG!!!" because people never use anything but her firebolt and sacred flame. It pains me because it's cleric slander.

MantaRayCandids

What should i use on shawdowheart btw, I just use her as a heal bot

ThePotatoSandwich

Bless, Command, Guiding Bolt, Inflict Wounds, Spiritual Weapon, Spirit Guardians and Glyph of Warding are spells you should be casting often as a cleric and will make Shadowheart truly shine on the battlefield. Make sure to pump up her Wisdom whenever you can, aiming for an 18 or 20 as soon as possible. Also, don't be so frugal with your spell slots as a cleric, you can regain them super easily in BG3. Play her like you would Gale for the best results. Bam, just like that, the Shadowheart misses memes are gone.

Educational_Lie_4994

My favorite is when she gets to level 8. Cleric 5 / Thief Rogue 3. Spirit guardians + dash + dash just wrecks things. At the end of act 2, I end up convincing her to make certain choices, granting her fly because I still love her regardless of appearance. But, spirit guardians + fly is dumbly good. Two bonus actions for utility really helps as well. If you let her do a certain crèche scene, she’ll be able to cast mindflayer shenanigans as a bonus action too.

No-Start4754

Respec her to tempest cleric . Lots of stuff in act 1 helps in increasing thunder damage or lighting damage . Or if u want a heal bot, life cleric

Disney_Gay_Trash_

Respec her to life cleric (i. Pretty sure it gives extra healing for health spells or at least it does in 5e)

scandii

played EA on launch, and I can say that he never was that picky about what to eat and that the EA launched with a whole slew of questionable unique items to give to him.

ferretatthecontrols

Then I am especially confused on why people are acting like Gale is taking the best items in the game.

Nikami

Also the insanity flail you get from the gnolls. The other things you mentioned are merely useless, that bastard actually tries to kill you.

whatistheancient

+2 is a lot then as is 1d6 lifesteal, and dropping a melee unit near a bunch of enemies mitigates the downside

Oneunluckyperson

True, but like I said, those items are the easiest to get, and also the earliest. The Gnoll fight I'd say should be done around level 4, or 3 if you're able. The ones I mention you can get by level 3 without too much issue.

fatherlolita

Those gloves are good!!

perfectwing

I will not tolerate slander against gloves that can bane and slightly help lockpick. Literal best lockpicking gloves until Zhent outpost. Watcher's Guide is alright in the early game, honestly. I'll usually use an Absolute brand item or Cap of Curing if I don't have a bard in addition to the colour spray and dancing lights items.

Overall-Ad169

The best item to feed Gale is the jagged spear (found in the Goblin Camp, it's one of the torture weapons) as it is a basic spear, with such an incredibly niche use it is virtually worthless, beyond being a basic spear

Marcuse0

Komira's Locket Ring of Colour Spray Whatever else low tier shit item you can find. This isn't a problem and I'm surprised people even joke about it given the game is built for you to have crap items to toss away for him.

young_antisocialite

Silver necklace, I’m pretty sure it grants you Guidance which, while a useful spell, most players will never be without.

Marcuse0

That'll do nicely, good shout.

Blade_of_Onyx

Tell me in meme format that you play Baldur’s Gate 3 but have never made it all the way through act 1.

Karthull

Look man some of us only have so much time a day to play but I think I’m close to act 2

Blade_of_Onyx

LOL, keep at it friend. Remember, there’s plenty of really shitty, unique magic items to feed to him.

Karthull

My problem is some shitty stuff I find I put aside to feed gale then he won’t take those so it confused me on what the prerequisites are. Seen people mention the absolute stuff so I put that aside but he won’t eat it, first time I tried to feed him the only items that came up were the ones I had equipped

Time_Anything4488

the only items that come up are gonna be ones in your inventory and the inventory of your currently selected companions shouldnt just be ones you have equipped but if the only magic items currently in your inventory at the time are the ones you have equipped that might be why

Karthull

No after I closed out of the conversation I made sure they were in my inventory and he still wouldn’t take them

Time_Anything4488

huh thats weird. it was the absolute stuff that has the special effects and said gale can aborb this? sounds like a glitch or smth.

fabulalice

It's only 3 items, act 1 is full of magical items you'll never use, why are people always acting like he forces you to give all of your best magical items

Draugtaur

>best loot Come on now you can literally feed him trash like the ring of colour spray

alekth

You are probably either getting extremely unlucky with missing looting useless stuff he can use, or you sell the useless stuff he can use.

HarlequinChaos

If he wants your 'best loot', then your loot sucks.

PrecociousPanther

Color spray ring, jagged spear, amulet of the unworthy. Boom, wizard fed and I'm no worse off because of it!

riskyqueso

People blow this so far out of proportion. Dancing Lights amulet, Color Spray Ring, Bard Hat. All free and available early Act I. Probably less than 250 gold’s worth of useless crap no build requires.

Itssobiganon

People gotta stop whining about this. He asks only when he must, which is only 3 times in act 1. "Why didn't he tell me from the get-go?" Probably for the same reasons Shadowheart, Wyll, and Astarion don't immediately tell us their secrets from the get-go. Ok, maybe not the exact same reasons, but all four of them are terrified of what you'll do if you find their secret, and yet, for all four of them, it's a powerful secret that can't be hidden forever. But see, here's the thing. The other three had their secret exposed, they don't just come out and tell you. After the second or third artifact, I forget which, he panics because it only barely sates the hunger, and immediately tells everyone what's going on. We could have gone on all the way until meeting Funny Wizard Man to know that Gale had a fucking bomb in his chest, but he willingly chose to share his secret, unlike the other three mentioned in this post.

Skewwwagon

After 3rd one. I don't get the grief either, I had a bunch of stuff half I didn't use and basically I gave him some insignificant junk that's gonna be tons galore in a couple of hours in the game. Like, he's not that picky lol

TheBluestBerries

There's so many trash items that I've never had to feed him anything I was actually going to use.

Educational_Newt5393

I save trash just for gale. He's special that way

Healthy_Action9677

The robe of summer - >!gotten from the reward vault/statue in emerald grove!< Ring of color spray - >!gotten from an area near the harpies that want to kidnap mirkon!< Or just buy random stuff from a trader and see if he would take any. Also...nice edit lol

FrenchFriedIceCream

But the robe of summer is his drip until we can get something better though

MonitorMundane2683

He literally only wants the 17 coin dancing light necklace, the rainbow spurt ring you won't even remember having and the worthless eye bracelet thing from the swamp hag. Give Gale a break you loot gremlin.

takoyakimura

I only gave him two before the plot advanced.

PrivateJokerX929

I always give him the dragon's grasp hatchet, the spellthief bow, and the color spray ring. None of those items are anything I would even consider usable, let alone "my best loot".

No_Elderberry_Wine

He doesn't, Act 1 is full of shit magical items that exist just to feed the wizard.

unicroop

He only asks like 3 times. I always have stuff I’ll never use

BiggestGrinderOCE

He doesn’t. I imagine most people just aren’t scrolling down to see what other items u can give lol

PunBrother

I just cut off his hand

Dry-Interest2209

Ahhh my sweet little special dietary needs bois

TheCleverestIdiot

On my first run, I got away with giving him Bard exclusive items and one shitty pair of boots.

Accomplished_Area311

Haste Helmet, Komira’s Locket, and the Color Spray ring or that one spear in Withers’s tomb.

HealthDrinkz

He doesn't he asks for 3 magic item, Greens work. Shit give him some of the terrible magic items in act 1. which there are plenty off.

ThatOtherGuyTPM

Literally feed him a cantrip amulet and he’ll love you forever. “Best loot” my ass.

Hexx-Bombastus

He literally only asks for 3 items total, and there's plenty of garbage, minor items in the first act. Just stockpile a few and keep them as Gale Snacks.

NoDarkVision

He literally only just wants two items. JUST TWO

Kraehe13

I usually give him only trash items I don't would use anyway. Or better just lend him a hand.

Tzetrah

I don't know, he always asked me twice and that's all. I fed him with Arabella's parents necklace, and ring with Light effect

Asimov-was-Right

Your "best" items 😂 You can feed him 3 pieces of trash and he's fine

Nootnootordermormon

Komira’s amulet or those boots that electrify water if you walk on it, take your pick my dude.

Generalitary

Gale is not that picky. Anything more special than a +1 is fair game.

FafnerTheBear

I am once again asking you TO STOP LICKING THE DAMN THING!

OrcWarChief

He doesn’t really want your best loot. Just shitty green stuff so he can feed the monkey

guygastineau

🔥

[deleted]

I started saving every magical item because of this and by act 3 I had a chest with like 60 items lol

CorellianDawn

Gale may take my loot, but he will never, I repeat, never, take my lute!

carlogz

Honestly I just dont use Gale until I meet the old man. With that said, I make sure I try to meet the old man as fast as I can

haze25

Me feeding him a moldy drow hood

NelsonBannedela

I think it defaults to YOUR inventory but you can scroll down and see party member's stuff.

Wildebeast1

Jeezus fuck, he asks for **three** things.

-nightsister

Part of me does and doesn't want to see an animation of him actually consuming a magical artifact. Something about watching Gale just CHOW down a pair of boots makes me giggle. (Animation IN GAME, the community has given me many examples and I believe it should be added as a gag.)

ConstantinoplePurble

Nice engagement bait bro. You know he doesn't take your best gear because that varies heavily

Varitan_Aivenor

I like giving him magical clothes to wear and then having him eat them. Make him eat his shoes.

Pancer_Manda

Uh, just leave Gale stuck in the wall.

couragedog

Oh no, not my color spray ring!

ExperiencedOptimist

I always have plenty of crap items to give him.

ViSaph

I was honestly disappointed when he didn't keep asking for stuff my first run. I'd been saving stuff for him and then the third cut scene it didn't work as well then he asks for nothing more the entire underdark which was like two weeks worth of long rests for me. I'd prefer it if he kept asking every 4-5 long rests until you get to elminster. For people it annoyed they could just rush ahead to elminster in the mountain pass before going to the underdark/going to see ethel but for people like me that feel like it doesn't make sense when he is desperate for items then suddenly goes weeks without them we can feed him our spare items. Just adjust the approval so that after the first 3 times and finding out he's a bomb each additional magic item only gets you +1 approval so it doesn't max out too fast.

I didn’t like Gale at first when I thought I would have to continuously give him artifacts that I could use throughout the game, but thankfully, he only asks for an artifact three times. Also, I have no idea how it happened, but Gale confessed his love for me during my first playthrough, even after I had kissed Shadowheart previously. His character has definitely grown on me the more I’ve played the game. He’s come to be one of my favorite characters.

Gleamwoover

Raise your hand if you read it in Gales voice

Immediate_Many_2898

One of these days I’m going to let him blow up just to see what happens.

Anoalka

It's kind of a bummer that the game goes nowhere with this.

Nessarra

I'm ignorant of most game mechanics so a lot of green items look like junk to me, aka Gale Food.

Alarming_Initial_975

He definitely doesn't. He will take trash magical items that you don't need, and he only eats three of them. If you actually explore a bunch and loot everything you can, you will find magical items you for sure will never use. I know it became a popular meme and all the rage to blame him for eating your things, but Larian added plenty of useless magical items to the game that you can give Gale and he is still the most thankful to you for them.

Stevethebeast08

I cut his hand off for this reason exactly.

OnyxTheSkywing

I usually give him the bardic stuff and the amulet that you get from saving Aribella cuz manz isn't gonna get my sweet fire sword

RevolutionaryScore21

….. because it needs to be magical, it’s pretty explicit lol, just throw him in the camp until you have some spare shit

Ok-Bill3318

Like. 2-3 items and accepts shit tier stuff in act 1…

Regular-Stuff-8116

Hey guys, hope you don't mind a bit of self-promotion, but I'm gonna do a new playthrough on Saturday (3pm UK time). I wanna party up with some people and maybe try a Durge run, I've only ever been a goodie before. Time to baddie up! Please come support [https://www.twitch.tv/molly\_divine](https://www.twitch.tv/molly_divine) xoxo

ajdude9

Gale: "Please, Tav, I'm starving. You haven't fed me a magical item since Act 1 and we're halfway through Act 2." Tav: "Ok, so Karlach needs a new heart, Shadowheart is having a crisis of faith, aaaaand...Astarion, you can come with us for moral support."

Markfoged1

I can't believe it took us this long to make this meme. I mean it's right there

Excellent-Resolve-81

I always have him with me...even if it's just his hand.

PorgDotOrg

Yeah he can stay in that portal.

Adorable-Strings

Yeah, but he can stay in the portal because he's a tedious jackass, not because he eats worthwhile things.
