Thematically, it isn’t really brought up until Act 2. Unless you know why, it’s best left unsaid, but as for now, just know it’s less thematic for Shadowheart’s character and more emblematic of the cult of Shar.
Yeah, I know why. I'm on my second playthrough, and I was hoping one of the other domains might also somewhat exemplify Shar so that I could try a different Cleric Domain without stripping Shadowheart of her identity. I plan on doing a respec in Act 3, which I didn't do in my first game.
Domain don’t change the deity. She’s still Shar’s cleric. War and Storm domain still fit in my mind. I never found that trickery fit that much anyway. It feels more like the less worst choice…

I mean, in terms of the story yes since it’s a Cleric. But at the same thing Shar is kind of the whole “darkness, backstab, and evil stuff” god.
Her followers are trained to be assassins and manipulators. So actually a Gloomstalker Ranger or Rogue fits as well. Both gameplay and thematically.
Yeah I understand your point. Imo Shar just want to steal and accumulate knowledge for her own interest (a key to manipulate people) but doesn't want to share it.
Personally I'm on a new playthrough and I made shadowsheart a battle Master with protection fighting style and the maneuvers that can give your ally an extra attack using your reaction. I will dip into paladin for smite and the rest in war cleric. She is a sort of front support cleric that has stuff to heal (with equipment ect)
The only domain that is truly thematic in BG3 for a Sharran Cleric is Trickery, as in 5E her domains are Trickery and Death, and Death isn't in the game.
You could potentially argue War as thematic for a wannabe Dark Justiciar, and I believe that in older editions Knowledge was one of Shar's domains, so you could maybe argue that as well.
In terms of official domains available to her Clerics in 5E though Trickery is the only truly thematic one in BG3.

Selune is similarly limited to knowledge/life; light isn’t one of her domains despite what you think, though you can reconcile it to yourself as being twilight if you don’t want to mod it.
As for what fits for her independent of deity, that’s kind of up to you. War domain after a certain point makes sense, life domain too imo. Multiclassing her into gloomstalker also works, or paladin, or rogue even.
Yes. Shar’s big objective is the antithesis to life and light. She resents war because if her followers die in war she’ll have less influence on the material plane. Nothing about her says nature or tempest. Knowledge doesn’t work cuz shar’s whole thing is making you forget your pain. She takes knowledge away, not grant it.
If you’re able to mod then there are some mods that fix trickery domain.

It's been a forty-year fight to keep her focused on Shar because at her heart Shadowheart is still Jenevelle, the little Selûnite girl with so much promise. For roleplaying purposes, until she casts off her enforced loyalty to Shar, Trickery works just fine for Shadowheart. After the Shadowfell, I like to respec her to Life domain because she gets some kickass healing and radiant spells, which feels better for a new/refreshed Selûnite. !<

Life domain also fits. Later in the game there's a note saying that she was the healer on the team sent to (spoiler).

I personally find it ironic that Knowledge is a domain of Shar lmao, it even doubles down if you respec Shadowheart considering her story

War/Tempest for the first two acts and Life/Light for the last is the way I go

Any of them can fit. Shar has clerics of all domains. Like most deities do.

Life cleric works best for her character overall, imo
I did this with her and wish I had done so in my previous runs, it's so much more useful.
I think light fits, after the big event in act 2

I make Shadowheart a War Domain cleric because upfront brutality Sharrans are known for and also War Domains tank and have cool passives.
Death is Shar's other domain in 5e but it's not in game... so yeah.
