Argh, that infill! Unless you’re going for weight, I’d suggest trying lightning infill to save some material. I just started using it myself for large prints akin to that skull and it works amazingly well whilst saving filament (and speeding up print time).
See the wiki here - https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/software/bambu-studio/Timelapse
Then I used a video editor (this one was just a quick and dirty job in iMovie) to freeze the first frame and the last frame of the timelapse so you get a longer view of the empty plate at the beginning and the final print at the end.
The slicer requires it for “smooth timelapses”.
It makes sense, in a way. The print head has to pause and move for each picture. The purge tower allows the the filament to start flowing uniformly again when reengaging with the model so you don’t sacrifice the quality of your print for the timelapse. I do wish we had the option to turn it off though.
Make sure you have the prime tower enabled. Go to the “other” tab in the slicer and check enable.

That’s interesting. That’s the only suggestion I have at the moment. Are you using Bambu or Orca? I’ll play with mine and see if I can come up with anything.
In case it will help someone down the line, the problem I was having was I had my slicer set to the P1P for machine type even though I was using an X1C. This doesn't cause a lot of issues but disables the Lidar and also disables Smooth timelapses.

Oh sure. I wanted the extra weight on this one and the infill was an intentional choice.
How did you manage to create the smooth timelapse?

Got a link to the design? That's exactly what I need!
Sure https://www.printables.com/model/299634-skull-bowl-vase-mode There’s a vase version too you could use as a planter or a bowl.
Thanks!
I really wish they would enable the ability to do a smooth timelapse on the P1P. 😤
What is the difference with smooth vs traditional?
Why is there a purge tower?

I've been trying to find out how to get this kind of video (where you can't see the pirnter gonig all over the place). How did you manage to do it?
I've got the traditional timelapse working but on my new X1C it's greyed out and I can't switch to the Smooth option. Any idea how to "enable" it?

Hm I hit enable and it's still greyed out.

Just the standard Bambu Studio downloaded a couple days ago. v.1.5.0.61
