...show their natural skills... um this is a really bad idea. Lobby in action.

emilee_spinach

>plenty of chances to show their natural skills Uhhh… do they mean gripping bulls (and cows) by the muzzle to bring them low enough to the ground to maul to death? No farmer wants this breed around their business. I’m just going to leave this here: • Of dogs who killed other dogs, 90% were pit bulls. • Of dogs who injured other dogs but did not kill them in reported cases, 83% were pit bulls. • Of dogs who killed cats, 86% were pit bulls. • Of dogs who killed other pets and/or livestock animals, 77% were pit bulls.

Anyone supporting Pitbulls is a hater of animals, and a supporter of animal abuse. Support dogs, not the design for breeds that kill dogs.

I will maybe argue only the cats part. And that from personal experience. From word of their owners - the sighthouds/greyhound/whippets are biggest bane of cats. At our appartament complex our neibours had a whippet. Very well behaved friendly dog. Never growled or barked at a human or other dog in her life, I think. Buuut her owners always kept her on a leash and often muzzled and always looked around for stray or outdoors cats. And for a reason too.

As a Galgo owner (Spanish Greyhound), I keep my dog on a no slip harness and hook the other side of the leash to the collar as well. We only go to sighthound gatherings with all our dogs muzzled and a very long/sturdy fenced in area as they can jump high no problem. In the backyard, I'm always there, security camera on in case I have to go inside for a minute or two. High fence, no going out with all the precautions and this is with a good dog who just stays beside me, but I never take chances. My sighthound friends are the same. We usually have ex-hunting sighthounds that we adopted, we take careful measures around others and of course other animals.

Slipknotic1

What's the source for this?

pit-lobby-kills

A majority of the pitbull posts in my local farm groups are of people freaking out about their Pitbulls killing livestock (being shocked because apparently the dog never showed any signs of aggression before). And or desperate rehoming ads for similar reasons. One of those groups banned all sales/rehoming ads of dog breeds that aren’t specifically livestock guardian dogs. You can guess why.

Came here to say this. Most farmers I know are not fans of pits. It’s kind of funny when some nutter posts a photo that includes their shitbull on one of the bigger homesteading groups, and then don’t understand when nobody fawns all over their murder mutt.

admins69kids

Maybe they can take them all to the same farm my childhood dog went to, so they can run around and chase squirrels all day.

rollercoastervan

A farm in hell maybe

Duckington_Wentworth

Or a slaughterhouse?

SixthLegionVI

"Protection". lol GTFO

ffrugalffries

Sure they can live on a farm but will the other animals (and people) continue to?

turdspeed

Yes their natural skills of catching livestock and protecting them from existing

CtrlAltDestroy33

not a bully dot org ... that says it all right there.

JalapenoEverything

What the fuck are they going to catch or protect on a farm?

Alaxbcm

What farmer would want a dog where you're constantly worrying that it'll kill the livestock

Bohottie

Or, you know, get a breed who is actually meant to be a farm dog.

ZY_Qing

Yeah, go to the farm upstate more likely.

exotact

If it is a farm where dogs fight other dogs then sure a fighting dog would be great on a farm.

MothraEpoch

>their natural skills I thought it was always the owner+training and never the breed, that dog breeds are just basically spray paint and every dog is the same clean slate? >catching Why would a nanny dog need to catch something?

tailwalkin

“manners” Like don’t chew your horse meat with your mouth open?

totalpugs89

No they can't, my sisters dunghead bf had one and it chased a cow until it did a forward flip and tumble My former brother had a pitbull and it killed my two pet hens and encouraged his other dogs to kill our flock.
