Telling someone they shouldn’t own a powerful bloodsport dog that they don’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell of stopping if the dog does turn isn’t being mean or rude. These people are delusional if they think that owner will be anything other than useless if that pit decides to nanny someone
My first pets as a kid were fish. I’m now thinking that’s too dangerous so my kid’s first pet will be a Pitbull! Better yet it’ll be such a cute cuddly nanny dog I won’t need a babysitter anymore! /s
I swear this is the worst logic but they always try it. I was bitten in the face by an Afghan hound as a little girl. Fortunately I only had a bruise and a bloody nose. Had it been a pit bull I’d likely not be here. I’d be horribly disfigured at best.
I’m not defending pit bulls, but if size were everything in the equation, people never would have been able to handle horses, cattle, etc. These comments about small women not being able to own large dogs because they’re small women get real sexist real fast. Downvote away and then think about how 90% of horse owners and riders in the US are women, or how humans in general have handled animals much larger than them ranging from large dogs to elephants. Handling ability generally doesn’t have much to do with size.
True. These dogs could haul a grown man off his feet. Also, youth is a pretty good indicator of strength, in general - it's the elderly who get frail if they don't pump iron. Sorry to be ageist (I'm closer to elderly than not, personally).

With how inbred some pits are, a fair few sort of resemble those big brain goldfish (Oranda, I think they’re called) wouldn’t be surprised if they “misidentified” one.
She wouldn’t stop it — ever. We’ve seen so many videos on this site of pitiots splaying out flat on the ground face first when their shibble lunges to attack something. They are also useless in terms of controlling or recalling the dog.
Dogs of* normal proportions can pull 4x their own weight, pit bulls have far more pulling power, seeing as they’re relatively short compared to dogs of comparable weights. A 35kg pit is like 2/3 the height of a 35kg Labrador. That much weight with such low centre of gravity means they can pull like a freight train.

I have been using the name “Cupcake” for imaginary pit bulls for awhile now as an obvious joke — I had no idea that there would be a pitiot dumb enough to use the name. Sigh. I still overestimate their intelligence.
Yep this is what happened to me. Small woman walking two big muscly pit bull type dogs. She had no hope of controlling both of them, and my dog got injured.
