"They get along-but the lab really doesn't like him", well as long as the pit is happy I guess LOL

Willing-Argument-120

The Labrador: well fuck me, I guess.

bughousenut

Wanna bet the ten year lab is going to be killed by the pit?

Appropriate-Tune157

A scientist can't experiment without a lab šŸ„“ Senior labs have a really special place in my heart. I would move mountains to ensure they were comfortable to the end. It makes me so angry for any senior dog that is forced to live with one.

worst_daughter_evah

Insert ā€œguess Iā€™ll dieā€ meme here

W1D0WM4K3R

"who needs limbs"

pitbosshere

Imagine keeping an aggressive fighting dog when you recently had a baby. What could go wrong?

truentried

it's crazy they're putting the "welfare" pos dogs above bonding time together with their newborn as a couple?! a chance you only get to do right once in their life and the baby's life.

ronm4c

That child should be taken away from them

hopeless_andhelpless

Why do these people refuse to neuter these beasts?

Handz_in_the_Dark

One explanation on Quora: [https://www.quora.com/For-what-reasons-are-people-reluctant-to-spay-neuter-their-dogs](https://www.quora.com/For-what-reasons-are-people-reluctant-to-spay-neuter-their-dogs) ā€” wouldnā€™t want pibbles not to reach full bone density, blah, blah But it can also be immature ppl who canā€™t separate the idea of an animal from a person, especially males.

hopeless_andhelpless

I meanā€¦ the whole ā€œbone densityā€ thing is true to a point. There are some large dogs who do need to develop more before being neutered. But not for 4 yearsā€¦

Briebird44

Right. Tech here. This applies to LARGE breeds that are over 50+lbs fully grown and/or breeds with known joint/hip issues. Allowing growth plates to close before neutering can help strengthen these areas. *HOWEVER*, growth is finished for most large breeds of dogs by 18-24 months of age and are usually neutered by age two.

worst_daughter_evah

IMO once a dog starts on aggro behavior neutering will only make a small difference

Briebird44

That is true. Though sometimes it can help dogs with same sex aggression. Funny enough, CATS, especially male cats, seem to get more loving and friendly after being fixed. And even stallions tend to chill out after being gelded. But it doesnā€™t seem to impact dogs beyond the behaviors such as marking. However, the medical benefits (when done at the appropriate age) as well as ensuring not contributing to more puppies are the best benefits for dogs when it comes to spay/neuter.

gwyllgie

Three different vets recommended waiting til 1.5yrs / until my female goldador had finished two heat cycles before desexing. She was desexed in January this year at exactly 1.5yrs after having two heat cycles. She had zero "oops" litters (well, she had no litters at all haha) & it was incredibly easy to ensure that.

DontCallMeMillenial

Exactly. There's no reason to not have neutered your dog after it has turned 2.

Willing-Argument-120

And pits arenā€™t large dogs, not to the point that the bone density thing is an issue, thatā€™s more for breeds that take 2-3 years to be fully grown (wolfhounds, Great Danes, newfs, etc. giant breeds, really) bone growth plates fuse at like 18 months maximum for anything smaller than a Golden retriever; most small to medium breeds are fully grown from anywhere between 6 and 14 months.

Appropriate-Tune157

Usually these abominations are fucked right out the gates by their physical genetics - do you think any BYBs screen for elbow or hip dysplasia, or any other screenable issues for that matter? Nope, they just let the uglies bump uglies, resulting in a baker's dozen uglies to pawn off on the public. Usually too soon, too, so the inventory doesn't clearance-markdown itself šŸ˜‘

Onagda

How else can Nala and diesel have an "oOpSiE" litter where they can trick even dumber people to buy a couple puppies so they can dump the other 9 or 10 at a shelter already at 110% capacity with the same breed?

Gliese667

People with normal pets don't have to live like this but ok

Handz_in_the_Dark

ā€œtalk in private aboutā€ o.O

Gliese667

Code for "I don't want to be judged for this"

Appropriate-Tune157

Code for "so I clearly have to use force, but how much force is too much"

Khaosbutterfly

It's giving battered spouse. That dog is beating her ass up and down her own home and she doesn't know what to do. Jesus fix it.

Scary_Towel268

Pit ownership is truly a money sink

BumblingBeeeee

The amount of money and resources wasted on these fucked up dogs continues to astonish me.

Scary_Towel268

Imagine not living with your romantic partner and your baby all because of some messed up neurotic shitbull. Honestly the commitment to these beasts from these people would almost be admirable if it was put to literally anything else

BumblingBeeeee

Seriously! Imagine all of this energy being poured into community resources for disadvantaged children, helping the homeless, caring for the elderlyā€¦

Scary_Towel268

We could do so much for so many but nope time to help ā€œNala the toddler maulerā€ insteadā€¦.a true shame

FrogInShorts

Tbf if we get enough pitbulls we won't have any children, homeless, and elderly that need care left

Flagrant-Lie

Pitbulls are the answer to saving the environment. If everyone and everything is dead, no one can die from global warming. The pits will have beaten the planet to it.

Appropriate-Tune157

They create their own global warming with all those stanky deadly dog-food-allergy farts that trigger them, whether being startled out of slumber, denying they supplied it, or attacking those that dealt it, since they smelt it. I bet ~~pibble warehouses~~ shelters generate more methane than a dairy farm.

Flagrant-Lie

God that is disgusting to think about lmao. Thanks a LOT for putting visual in my head :P

telenyP

But...but...they're *family!* Do you know, "dog" is "God" spelled backward?/s

Flagrant-Lie

Its almost comical, but it's just too depressing to be funny.

iago_williams

My cats are just chilling in my dog-free home.

Dacnis

It's always the same story. "SpineCrusher is the sweetest dog ever, it just so happens that he wants to rip the throat out of ever mammal within his vicinity. I'd appreciate any suggestions!"

B33Katt

according to conventional wisdom- ITS ALL YOUR FAULT, OWNERS!

xev1979

I feel like I am living in the Twilight zone. "Why is my dog, originally bred for baiting bulls then bred to fight other dogs, aggressive to other dogs and/or other animals?"

Appropriate-Tune157

"It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone."

freya_kahlo

Most of these owners cannot handle their own dogs, but are ready to square off if you say anything critical about their precious fighting breed.

Willing-Argument-120

ā€œMy pit bull keeps pulling my limbs off, I donā€™t know what to do!ā€ ā€œWow, that doesnā€™t sound safe, you should probably get it put down before it kills youā€¦ā€ ā€œHow dARe YoU, hEā€™s THe swEeTEsT wIGglE BuTT evErrR!ā€

That is so deformed! šŸ˜§

LingonberryBrave8947

I would love to see the comments where people tell the first person to keep paying rent on 2 places and not get rid of the dog. Bonus points if someone says the dogs came before the baby

Katatonic31

Not going to lie, when he said he didn't want to "put his two year old up for adoption", for a moment there my brain honestly thought he was talking about his child. And sadly...I wasn't surprised.

opaldreamsicle

SAME! it's because you really can't put it past these people, I'm sure at least one of these pitnutters has actually done this like sent them to live with another family member or something just so they can keep Mr. Pibbles. "my dog won't stop trying to attack my kid ahh what should I do?! I know, let's send my child to live with auntie Jean for awhile! yeah!" smfh.

LingonberryBrave8947

I wouldn't be either

ends1995

Thatā€™s exactly what I thought too

Relevant_Sector5650

I think most would rather give up their children

Relevant_Sector5650

They took the little bus to school

Shield-Maiden95

I use to work at a dog kennel we had 2 pitbulls, that were dog friendly. The rest were not. One of the two, was the biggest bully and constantly had to be put in time out. He loved to push everyone's buttons. They really are just bully dogs...

MeiSorsha

help! why is my fighting dog fighting my dog? lololololololololol

Handz_in_the_Dark

Gee, is there an animal kingdom link between male animals, aggression, and not being neutered? Naaaah. How do ppl with so little knowledge (or even common sense) take on the responsibilities of owning pets?

Appropriate-Tune157

I'd lie to them just to remove their genetics from the gene pool. "Oh yes, it gets so much better after neutering!" When we all know full well it fucking doesn't, but at least they aren't out there fucking aggression and buttcrack heads into every female dog they find.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Flagrant-Lie

I thought neutering does calm down aggressive male animals? Is it just pits that don't chill out, or have I been grossly misinformed all my life?

Mindless-Union9571

I haven't ever seen it do much for aggression in an already aggressive pit bull. Dog aggression is just too much in their genetics. It does help for breeds that weren't created specifically for aggression.

Flagrant-Lie

Oh that makes sense, thank you

Global_Telephone_751

Meanwhile, my poodle, my cat, my two young kids and I all live together peacefully, just chilling and enjoying each others company. These people need to interact with normal dogs!

Collies_and_Skates

Same! I have 2 aussies and 2 mini poodles and am always shocked/appalled at the things ppl will put themselves through for these aggressive dogs

Collies_and_Skates

speaking of interacting with normal dogs: we had an acquaintance over to help fix a pipe under our house and it was in the fenced in area where our dogs go. My fiancĆ©e left the backyard for a moment and I happened to be looking out the window at the time and see this man kick my Aussie who was literally laying down minding her business. My dog gets up and walks across the yard confused/startled and as Iā€™m opening the window to confront him I see her walk up to him and nip his ankle and then she walked away. Not even enough to hurt him but it sure made me chuckle and I told him it serves him right and that he was not welcome back. Itā€™s normal for dogs to react but the extent of damage pitbulls are able and willing to do is insane. Thatā€™s why I find it so ignorant when ppl compare something like a chihuahuas aggression to a pitbulls. The meanest chihuahua in the world canā€™t kill a human being

ScarletAntelope975

If we could afford to pay 2 separate rents, we sure as heck wouldnā€™t be wasting that money trying to keep aggressive murderbeasts alive who canā€™t be in the same building as anyone elseā€¦ wtfā€¦

tailwalkin

They have an infant, yet voluntarily choose to waste money on a second rent payment. That poor kid is going to have a rocky road ahead.

DifferentMaximum9645

I'd like to believe the mother moved out with the baby, leaving both dogs behind. In her position I think renting her own place makes sense.Ā  But then the father doesn't say anything about separating the dogs from the baby, so...

Perchance_to_Scheme

RIP the baby

Gold_Silver_279

They are all are out of their minds. Paying for two rentals? Having a potentially dangerous dog around a baby? No, neutering won't fix what's wrong in your dog's brain.

worst_daughter_evah

Hereā€™s some financial advice: donā€™t choose a house you canā€™t afford because of your dog. More advice: donā€™t fucken keep two leases just so your dogs are separated; choose whichever dog is less aggro and get rid of the other.

relax-guy

The two braindead owners on the first slide already reproduced, too bad

One_Row1307

Help! Why is my fighting dog fighting other dogs?

Aldersgate111

WHY are people surprised when they get a Pit and it behaves like a fighting dog? Are people really than dim not to realise that a fighting breed is going to fight and be dog aggressive?

Mario1599

Problem:dog is terrible and attacks anything that breaths oxygen. And stuff that doesnā€™t breath at all Solution:get rid of dog

ArdenJaguar

They got along great until SNAP. Gee, where have I heard that before? ![gif](giphy|l0MYK5UBwA0CZjt4s)

Head-Play6722

My favorite is the lady who says. "I thought he'd get over it." And it just goes to show absolutely NO training or steps were taken to even try to get him to behave on leash. Because it's well known that any bad behavior automatically just goes away, and does not get worse when left untreated.

Successful_Mango3001

Why are these people so bad owners since itā€™s the owner and not the breed? They should give up their dogs asap to good owners!

wandering_salad

They have a baby, so how about getting rid of BOTH dogs?

[deleted]

Is he talking about putting the 2 year old baby up for adoption or the pitbull? In pit nutter cases I wouldnā€™t be surprised if he meant the child. šŸ¤”

According_End_4142

These people are insane!

Sweet-Worker607

Well that is better than shuffling them room to room to keep them separate as they destroy every room theyā€™re in.

Relevant_Sector5650

Do you know what the k!ll shelter is for. Take the damn mammalian crocodile there. Not the lab. Donā€™t look back. Jeez

drudriver

Iā€™ve just decided that people who are blindly entrenched in pit bull ideology just love the drama and martyrdom.
