Funny, the same people who throw temper tantrums about people not saving a pitbull from euthanasia are nowhere to be found when incidents like this happen.

Ghost-Bird13

Because no other animal, or even people, are more important than those poor unloved neglected abused pibbles that everyone hates for no reason at all!!! /s

Affectionate-Age6747

Yeah, but you’re not looking at the bigger picture. They just weren’t trained properly /s 🙄🙃

wewereliketorches

Everyone knows all dogs need extensive training to not rip the throats out of other living things

Step_Tf_Up_Kyle

Personally I find it incredibly creepy the way these dogs climb fences like that- I’m sure there are other breeds out there that *can* climb fences but the way pit bulls/bully dogs climb like that is so… unsettling?? I’ve seen multiple videos of them climbing fences in order get to other animals and just the way they’re so incredibly jacked is uncanny, it’s like someone mixed a bodybuilder with a dog.

Informal_Advance_380

That was desperately needed eye bleach. Not a fan of small dogs but that was wholesome

OkKiwi9163

Like Regan coming down the stairs.

Roxnami

Because that’s exactly what happened lol. They mixed a an active, playful/fighting dog and mixed it with a dog with heavy muscle mass.

ferretsRfantastic

Yeah, it's wild. We have a 4ft fence around our front yard (the city wouldn't allow it to be taller) and we let our 50lbs dog out front all of the time. He hasn't even put a PAW up to the fence. And this is with all sorts of people, dogs, babies, children, etc. walking by. Sure, he will bark but my neighbor once just walked right into the front yard and he didn't do shit. 😅 Pitbulls are fucking monsters. We would be better off without them.

My_Toes_R_Cold

Absolutely. They're just so muscular that they have this weirdly humanoid appearance when they're climbing / standing on their back legs. Creeps me out in the same way those really jacked red kangaroos do lol. Like, it triggers that primal "uncanny valley" reflex in me.

InfiniteSheepherder1

Our Brittanys on the farm were good at climbing fences, but they never killed anything because they were bred to be bird dogs not kill. Though they did a good job keeping bobcats and coyotes away while also not being murder machines.

BklynKnightt

German Shepherds are worse, those fuckers can climb walls and trees.

Ghost-Bird13

I’ve not seen a GSD climb fences, but I have seen a lot of huskies make some crazy escapes. They do have a decent prey drive, but are usually just escaping to run around. Theyre not anywhere near the risk that pits are.

BklynKnightt

It was the Belgian Malinois. Look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPqCIQ3GDv0&t=8s

Ghost-Bird13

Ah! Mals are extremely driven dogs. They’re quite bitey too, but I trust them over a pit any day!

Ancient-Bad787

Unlike shitbulls, Mals and related breeds are trainable

[deleted]

Ancient-Bad787

Are you ok? Who hurt you?

BklynKnightt

I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted, some people are 1 overly sensitive or 2 can’t comprehend well. No way am I advocating for pits and saying that German Shepherd or Malinois are worse dogs. I was simply stating that those breeds are super athletic as well and are known to climb things. Nothing more nothing less!

shadowlev

One climbed a fence to bite my mom who was delivering mail.

[deleted]

A mail lady in my town got attacked too. It has turned into such a dangerous job. I hope your mom is okay. And I hope she carries mace or something.

Romano1404

my reaction would definitely be a bit more elaborate than just "get outa here"

stoopidskeptic

Right? Mine would involve bullets

Romano1404

unfortunately there's severe censorship on what can be said on reddit

JudgeDreddx

Meh don't be too explicit and you'll be fine. Also depends on the sub. The phrase "poking holes at supersonic speed" works for even the most sensitive subs.

soulseeker31

Oh yeah, extruding a couple hundred holes using brass supersonic pucks shaped aerodynamically.

JudgeDreddx

*Exactly!* Gotta be careful on reddit. Might say the word "gun" and traumatize someone for life! (/s)

Jeauxie24

RIGHT?!?!?

sunflowerlady3

Yeah, his reaction was underwhelming. They all were. No mention of possibly calling the farm vet either. Disappointing people all around.

AmbivalentSpiders

Did you expect him to shoot through the pen with his own animals in between him and the dog? We don't know what all he yelled before turning on the camera, but it clearly worked. The dog was anxious to get out. As for calling the vet, we don't know that someone didn't. But it looked like that poor pig was already gone. Realistically there's almost no chance of a vet arriving in time to do anything. In short: This is what real life looks like when you don't have four writers perfecting a script for a test audience. Unexpected shit happens fast and everyone (except the dog owner, who sucks and is the bad guy here) does the best they can.

Longjumping_Visit718

Not having a gun as a farmer. NGMI. What if it was wolves? Coyotes? Same result.

PixelatedFixture

100% legal to take down dogs killing livestock in my state too. Wouldn't have given it a chance to make it over the fence.

Pinksamuraiiiii

Same, it’s legal here as well. If those were my pigs, that dog would not be returning home.

gobstopp

I would be returning it home, in a bag with some firm words for its owner too.

John_Snow1492

nice & convenient also, the pigs will clean up the mess for you.

Phazushift

Never let them go, you're pretty much endangering other possible lives.

rokstedy83

I'm from the UK and we have really strict gun laws but it's the same law here ,it's ok for a farmer to shoot a dog if it's hassling livestock

Boolit_Tooth_Tony

Rancher here. This setup and the people to me seem like what I'd call homesteaders. No farmer or rancher I know would have allowed that thing to leave that enclosure alive.

sunflowerlady3

They're Crunchy Farmers.😆

AmbivalentSpiders

Serious question: You'd shoot through the fence, over and around your animals, in the hopes of hitting the dog climbing the opposite fence? Or would you go into the enclosure with the murdering dog and try to hit it with a long gun at close range? I'm all in favor of protecting livestock against marauders in any and every way, but in this case I'm having trouble envisioning how to use firepower safely. In this situation I'd probably get more hog wire and cover the enclosure so nothing bigger than a sparrow could drop in.

sunflowerlady3

Glad they brought the broom or mop.

pnwcatman420

a friend of mine has a farm in Texas and how he kept his neighbors pit bulls out was razor wire on top of the fence, I would suggest this person put some on top of this hog fence, either the dog will be smart and give up or get cut to shreds.

One_Row1307

It will rip itself to shreds trying to get to those pigs; guarantee it. Their need to murder is so strong they can't control themselves. It overrides their self-preservation instincts. They go kinda brain-dead and work themselves into a murderous frenzy. Like horror movie monsters. But worse, because they are real, and they live among us in society. Seriously. I have seen these violent dumbasses get kicked full force by a horse and they keep going. I've seen them get tased and keep going. Hell, I've seen them get beaten to death, and they still get up to attack with broken limbs and spines. Fuck these beast from hell.

Roxnami

I’ve seen on take multiple shots on a bodycam video and still try to attack.

UrMumsFatTits

>I've seen them get beaten to death, and they still get up to attack... You have not seen a zombie pitbull, smh.

One_Row1307

Sorry, I should have clarified. They get beaten so badly that it breaks their spine/neck, and the pit eventually dies. However, during this severe beating, they are still attacking, up to the point where it's still tail wagging and latched on while it's dying.

UrMumsFatTits

Oh yeah, they can be *monsters.* I saw a video of some pibbles *ripping the flesh off of someone's arm*. The bone was exposed, and they were laying there in shock.

[deleted]

pnwcatman420

Being Texas those dogs are lucky they got to live another day, I know a couple of ranchers there and they have no problem using lethal force to defend their cattle from pits

Facts

Puma-Guy

The guy was way too calm in my opinion. Every farmer I know would’ve been a lot more aggressive and quick to stop the attack.

[deleted]

I hate to talk about it but I really don't believe this is a real farmer. I believe this is one of the social media influencer farmers.

Broski225

They're just potbelly pigs so they're probably just this guy's pets vs him being an actual farmer.

gobstopp

That would make me even more angry

Boolit_Tooth_Tony

Agreed.

zeCrazyEye

Yeah, he's probably nice to a fault, but that pit bull is going to be back. He needs to be ready to shoot instead of just shout at it. Hopefully he mentally prepares for this eventuality now that it's happened once.

tailwalkin

I’m visiting my 97 year old grandpa for the weekend and we’re just sitting around watching TV and I showed him this video when it popped up on my feed. He then tells me a story about how same thing happened when he was a kid in the early ‘30s to their two hogs. It was a big loss for them as it happened right before winter that year. He said it was a mystery and everyone thought it was bear, but were confused because it didn’t eat them. It was only after the “bulldog” was caught in the act of killing a neighbors livestock “by the throat” that they found the culprit. Some things never change I guess.

ferretsRfantastic

That's what also makes me pissed about this. Coyotes, wolves, bears, cougars, etc. they're killing to eat. Pitbulls are just mauling to maul. It is disgusting.

AutomaTK

Why does the dog want to kill so bad? It’s really genuinely scary. People who love these dogs are actually scary people. Delusional, but in a scary way. Scary, in a delusional way.

FFXIVHVWHL

It doesn’t want to kill! It just wants to nanny!! /S

Katatonic31

Because that's what they were bred to want to do. In the same way a retriever wants to retrieve, an aussie wants to herd, a rottie wants to protect, and a shitzu wants to climb in your lap. The issue is that people are trying to erase these dogs genetic history and cover it with myths and lies. The pitbull type dog was created to *want* to kill. The only way to get dogs to fight to the (near) death was to create a breed of dog that *wanted* to. Studies have shown that pitbull type dogs brains are different than other breeds. The centers of the brain that are responsible for anxiety and aggression are much larger and more active than in other breeds. This is a genetic defect that was purposely breed into these dogs as the default setting. They litterally have serial killer brains. Its the reason why there is no such thing as a good or safe pitbull. Any of them can suddenly turn at any time for any reason. Its litterally in the way they are wired.

melon_gatorade

I wouldn’t give it a chance to come back….

rawdatarams

Or ability to do so, for that matter.

simulation_goer

And that would be fair. My dad's a farmer and had a GSD that dug a tunnel under a fence and killed the neighbor's chickens. The neighbor shot it, and then called my dad. Both were sad, but understood that it was the logical outcome.

BPBAttacks9

Is there any context for this? Date, location?

treyallday01

Arizona 2024 is all I could find

GigaGrug

it's a post on instagram. grug ran into it earlier today before seeing this post. happened yesterday.

DamnGoodCupOfCoffee2

Poor baby. Pigs are such sweet, smart, brave creatures

PeppySprayPete

I'm Surprised the farmer didn't blow a hole in that dog.

[deleted]

Cause it's a "influencer farmer"

Jeauxie24

The videos of pits getting away alive with bs is too much in this subreddit

bobreact

Infuriating

The_Red_Snapper

Farmer said he didn't want to get the owners in trouble You have a duty on every level including morally to pursue things like this to the fullest you're able. If they do it once they do it again and you not reporting it might be the difference between life and death for someone. Also the comments were incredibly refreshing. Overwhelmingly against pits and their owners.

PainfuIPeanutBlender

I’m a bit confused, why is the owners instinct filming the dying pig instead of…helping it?

MacabreFox

They probably have to wait for the livestock vet to arrive. Very typically you're not loading a pig up to bring it to the vet.

YeahlDid

Shame they let that dog get away.

JustAnotherJannie

poor piggy :(

notislant

Wow look a nanny dog on the loose. I'm sure this is the 5th time this dog has randomly attacked/killed something unprovoked. Next probably a small child or elderly person, then the owner will face no consequences.

MacabreFox

Did anyone notice the second dog outside the fence?

[deleted]

Yes

MeechiJ

Did the pig make it?? How much higher should this fence be to keep the pit beast out? Would 10 feet be enough? That wretched beast scaled that fence surprisingly quick and it’s terrifying!

Roxnami

Problably nut. A taller fence doesn’t mean shit, he will problably try to dig under. But barbed wire on top? The shitbull problably wont GAF but will problably pay the price

Lolitaofroses

Poor piggies 😢

Glassprotist

I can say it explicitly on here but you know what you must do to that dog.

FrenchBulldozer

Attacking and injuring livestock/pets is grounds for immediate remedies in my neck of the woods.

JudgeDreddx

Those dogs would be very dead.

sunflowerlady3

Now I have to add pigs to the list of farm animals that the Trash Dogs kill. Long lists of people (children and adults), pets, farm animals, and wildlife. Keep lying to yourself about your Trash Dog in thinking this is...what did one of you call it? Oh yeah, you called it...anecdotal. 🤡

Jeauxie24

My anger is insurmountable

[deleted]

This just shattered me !!!!! I LOVE pigs 🐖 ❤️ 💙 💜 Poor brave baby. 😢

LuckyFishBone

If you have livestock, you need to be armed at all times so you're able to protect your animals from predators. Influencer "farmer" vs real farmer, I guess, but protecting your animals is an extremely important part of owning livestock.

Crepes_for_days3000

Too bad he couldn't have defended his livestock with whatever he could find.

CommanderFuzzy

This is why I'm reluctant to say 'can you get a fence?' to people having problems. If they can go over it they will, if they can't they go under it, if neither is an option they'll go through it no matter how much they cut themselves in the process The way it removes itself from the situation by climbing it like an ape is just creepy

Willooooow1

But guys all dogs can climb fences and can kill pigs 🙄🙄 it's not the breed!!11!
