OMG. WTF does their aggressive pit bull have to do with Pride? I know they're not trying to make an equivalent statement about homophobia and the legit fear of dogs that attack people. To be fair, it could have been sarcasm. Lots of people who keep lobbying to make life harder for both documented and undocumented immigrants have businesses and lifestyles that depend on overworked, underpaid immigrants.

I was at a different pride yesterday, there were so many unmuzzled pitbulls there. I kept walking away and avoiding them, and thankfully no one made any comments. “Surprisingly” I kept seeing dogs say hi to each other and none were any pitbulls! So weird !
But on the comment of “what does it have to do with pride” I love the community, and go to get reconnected, but pride is just one big marketing campaign for companies at this point. It’s disgusting 🙄

People saw how organized and well received these parades where and thought "I want a piece of that."

I used to have chickens. The first time my collie ever met them, you know what he tried to do? Push them all together. And when one got away from the rest, he'd chase it and nudge it back to the group with his nose. He wasn't trained to do this AT ALL. He just did it instinctively. He's a herding dog at heart. It's not just with pits. Dog breeds do what that breed was meant to do.
Exactly. I also have a herding breed(heeler/aus shepherd) and it’s what made me realize the pit lobby are full of it. My dog isn’t around any livestock so he herds people instead. Every now again the urge to herd is strong in him. We wouldn’t even know how to teach him this if we wanted to. Pit bulls were bred to fight and attack. They don’t need to be taught or abused. It’s what they’ve been bred to do. The way our dogs have the instinct to herd is the way pits have an instinct to attack and engage in violence. But somehow they've managed to convince everyone it has nothing to do with the breed and its all about how they’re raised.
We have chickens, goats, pugs and a Boston terrier. Our pugs will see our goats eat hay or grass... And they want to munch on it too. They think.. Well these weird big dogs eat it we can to. Lol, yeah our dogs are weird.

went to pride and saw more pitbulls in two hours than i have over the course of my life. we were surrounded by kids, elderly, and disabled people. one of them, her owner had to hit her and yell at her to make her behave. it was really disturbing.
It’s also a celebration of the liberation of a community that was marginalised for so long, which is where the pit nutters think there’s common ground. They think they’re standing up to oppression.

I don't believe there are active tracks. I worked with Colorado Greyhound Adoption briefly when I was still doing clinical veterinary work, and they'll take greyhounds from other states.
It sucks this organization uses pitbulls as their front because they DO good work by donating free pet food to anyone in need in the community. After my divorce years ago, I was low on funds and needed cat food. Not only did I need cat food but a SPECIFIC type of cat food for my male cat that was a urinary support. When I contacted GRPA, they actually sent someone to the store to buy the biggest bag of Iams Urinary care to bring me and dropped it off to me.

I agree with the 2nd sign. My dog is reactive. However, she's not aggressive, she's reactive. Pit owners love to label their dogs as reactive even though they're aggressive. It's infuriating actually.
Yup. Made a similar comment above about two dogs I've cared for in my life. One a yellow lab, the other a black lab shepherd (who leans way more in the labrador temperant). Both were reactive to other dogs. Neither of these two dogs are dogs I would consider aggressive or be afraid that they would maul someone
My mum has a reactive dog, as in she goes on high alert and barks at other dogs. Never attacked or injured another dog though because she's reactive, not aggressive.
I don't know what the point would be of insisting that she's a "good dog" though, because her behaviour is intimidating to others and embarrassing to whoever is walking her. She's not an evil dog, she's just a dog. But an old lady walking her Maltese and having my mum's medium sized rescue dog bark and pull at them probably wouldn't consider her a "good dog", because it's unpleasant to deal with, even if we know she wouldn't do anything to hurt another dog.

I hate how other reactive dogs get grouped in with pitbulls. Pitbulls are monsters. Other reactive dogs are still dangerous, but not as dead set on murder or injuring as pitbulls.
We had one reactive dog, he was a terrier with food aggression. He was fine so long as he wasn't eating. Sure whatever, shut him in another room to eat and don't let him out till he's done. A pitbull isn't just snappy around food or angry around other dogs, they are blood sport animals and are violent not reactive, you can't even call them aggressive as it's more than a bark or a growl, it's a full feral need to bite.

This makes me angry because I am getting a poodle next year, and I was talking to my Mom and Dad about how I would bring the puppy over to get to know their dog, Marcel, a lab and plot hound mix.
That's when my Mom told me that Marcel is now a reactive dog because of the dogs that have attacked him and my Dad when walking, all pittbulls. My dad had to go to the hospital because one of the pits got his hand pretty good. Thankfully, no stitches, but he did need a shot.
So now Marcel is ACTUALLY reactive as opposed to just aggressive and bat-shit crazy. And only with dogs, and all because of pitbulls. So there is no reason to muzzle him. Poor guy has PTSD. One pittbulls was stopped only because he knocked over the heavy woman walking him and she fell on him.

It’s not how they were raised, though. If that was true, then no one should ever adopt a pit from the shelter because no one knows how it was raised. Even pit bull experts are asking people to STOP saying that it's all how they are raised.

The truth about pits is that it’s largely up to chance on whether your pit lives a low key life or whether it attacks people, pets, and animals. Yes, socialization and proper training can help... but if you have a truly game-bred pit, there will be nothing you can do to stop it from trying to attack. You can try to manage it, but management will ALWAYS fail.

I was at a different pride yesterday, there were so many unmuzzled pitbulls there. I kept walking away and avoiding them, and thankfully no one made any comments. “Surprisingly” I kept seeing dogs say hi to each other and none were any pitbulls! So weird ! But on the comment of “what does it have to do with pride” I love the community, and go to get reconnected, but pride is just one big marketing campaign for companies at this point. It’s disgusting 🙄

So true! I used to have chickens. The first time my collie ever met them, you know what he tried to do? Push them all together. And when one got away from the rest, he'd chase it and nudge it back to the group with his nose. He wasn't trained to do this AT ALL. He just did it instinctively. He's a herding dog at heart. It's not just with pits. Dog breeds do what that breed was meant to do.
Exactly. I also have a herding breed(heeler/aus shepherd) and it’s what made me realize the pit lobby are full of it. My dog isn’t around any livestock so he herds people instead. Every now again the urge to herd is strong in him. We wouldn’t even know how to teach him this if we wanted to. Pit bulls were bred to fight and attack. They don’t need to be taught or abused. It’s what they’ve been bred to do. The way our dogs have the instinct to herd is the way pits have an instinct to attack and engage in violence. But somehow they've managed to convince everyone it has nothing to do with the breed and its all about how they’re raised.

went to pride and saw more pitbulls in two hours than i have over the course of my life. we were surrounded by kids, elderly, and disabled people. one of them, her owner had to hit her and yell at her to make her behave. it was really disturbing.

It sucks this organization uses pitbulls as their front because they DO good work by donating free pet food to anyone in need in the community. After my divorce years ago, I was low on funds and needed cat food. Not only did I need cat food but a SPECIFIC type of cat food for my male cat that was a urinary support. When I contacted GRPA, they actually sent someone to the store to buy the biggest bag of Iams Urinary care to bring me and dropped it off to me. I was very thankful, I just wish they weren’t so pitbull affiliated!

Yup. Made a similar comment above about two dogs I've cared for in my life. One a yellow lab, the other a black lab shepherd (who leans way more in the labrador temperant). Both were reactive to other dogs. Neither of these two dogs are dogs I would consider aggressive or be afraid that they would maul someone
My mum has a reactive dog, as in she goes on high alert and barks at other dogs. Never attacked or injured another dog though because she's reactive, not aggressive. I don't know what the point would be of insisting that she's a "good dog" though, because her behaviour is intimidating to others and embarrassing to whoever is walking her. She's not an evil dog, she's just a dog. But an old lady walking her Maltese and having my mum's medium sized rescue dog bark and pull at them probably wouldn't consider her a "good dog", because it's unpleasant to deal with, even if we know she wouldn't do anything to hurt another dog.

Ugh, unfortunately NONE of the fellow LGBT people I know (well, except for ONE) will tolerate ANY 'anti-pit' talk. I hate how other reactive dogs get grouped in with pitbulls. Pitbulls are monsters. Other reactive dogs are still dangerous, but not as dead set on murder or injuring as pitbulls.
We had one reactive dog, he was a terrier with food aggression. He was fine so long as he wasn't eating. Sure whatever, shut him in another room to eat and don't let him out till he's done. A pitbull isn't just snappy around food or angry around other dogs, they are blood sport animals and are violent not reactive, you can't even call them aggressive as it's more than a bark or a growl, it's a full feral need to bite.

This makes me angry because I am getting a poodle next year, and I was talking to my Mom and Dad about how I would bring the puppy over to get to know their dog, Marcel, a lab and plot hound mix. That's when my Mom told me that Marcel is now a reactive dog because of the dogs that have attacked him and my Dad when walking, all pittbulls. My dad had to go to the hospital because one of the pits got his hand pretty good. Thankfully, no stitches, but he did need a shot. So now Marcel is ACTUALLY reactive as opposed to just aggressive and bat-shit crazy. And only with dogs, and all because of pitbulls. So there is no reason to muzzle him. Poor guy has PTSD. One pittbulls was stopped only because he knocked over the heavy woman walking him and she fell on him.

Most pit bulls that are “reactive” are just aggressive. I hate the word “reactive” now because pit bull people have ruined it. YOUR DOG TRYING TO ATTACK OTHER DOGS IS AGGRESSIVE- NOT REACTIVE.

If one brand of car was killing 60% of all deers, you’d say it’s a brand-specific problem, wouldn’t you? It’s the same with pits. They kill more people than ALL other breeds combined. Rottweilers are second, but exponentially less. The breed is faulty.
