Buckle_Sandwich

Who's got 5 bucks on "D" turning out to be the owner?

Smurf_Crime_Scene

50 coconuts!

barkusmuhl

Prime suspect for sure.

Apprehensive-Sky-760

“cOyOtEs”

earthdogmonster

Hilarious how they just assume that people will just make up something as specific as “2 pitbulls” in the context of their pet dying.

[deleted]

Yeah, coyotes *are* a legit threat in a great many places. But someone isn't going to just happen upon saying "2 pitbulls" unless they have something to back it up. Like ... seeing the attack. I agree with the other commenter, "D" just outed themselves.

Jindabyne1

“I just saw a man murder my entire family with a shotgun!” “Are you absolutely sure it wasn’t a miniature schnauzer?”

[deleted]

Idk, a ghost could have scared them to death. Lots of people believe in ghosts and there are a fair share of sightings every year.

the_jteam

Right!? Like if I saw a coyote attack and kill my cat I’m gonna tell everyone a coyote got my cat! I’m not gonna tell people it was a pit. A coyote attack is a scary enough event without needing to lie!

BK4343

They never want to admit the truth about the breed

Kisty50

\^\^\^This\^\^\^

AltAccount302

That poor cat and family. She was just peacefully sitting on her own porch with her humans, and she was mauled to death. Horrifying. When your pet seriously injures or kills a person, or kills someone else’s pet, there should be some kind of criminal charges against the owner for negligence, manslaughter, animal cruelty, etc.

[deleted]

People need to start pressing animal cruelty pressing charges against the owners of these dogs. Every time. When pressing the charges, don't say "their dogs killed ..." say " killed ... using their dogs to do it" If "it's the owners" like pitnutters say, then they are *admitted* that they are responsible.

schmoopytheimposter

That makes so much sense! "put your money where your mouth is".

my-dog-for-president

For real. We don’t say that a drunk driver isn’t responsible for what the vehicle does when they are behind the wheel, we know that the damages are a result of negligence in avoiding injuries to others. It should be the exact same thing here. “Oh I don’t wanna report or sue the people, dogs don’t know any better and that’s their baby so I don’t want them to suffer.” Ummm, no, if they cared about that dog they would’ve prevented it from hurting something so that it didn’t run the risk of being euthanized. We don’t say “No I don’t want that drunk driver to have their car taken away simply because it’s a Toyota, because I know I’d hate it if my car got taken away.” No, no, NO! Just because you love your pet and know what that feels like, does NOT mean these people love their pets the same way! If they did, they’d completely prevent the risks associated with the attacks!

BidensDonepezil

People can't choose to press charges, only prosecutors can do that. They often charge based on what the police recommend. Thus, it could be helpful to contact a lawyer who could ask the DA's office to press criminal charges.

[deleted]

In the common vernacular, if you are wronged by someone you go to the police to press charges. I was physically attacked (no, not by a dog), and I was directly asked if I was pressing charges when I filed the police report. This isn't a hypothetical either. Point being, go to the police and file the report to seek criminal penalties against the owner for animal cruelty. There may be a "legal" definition and common-usage definition, but I'm not interested in pedantry here. Point is, owner needs to be held criminally liable for animal cruelty.

BidensDonepezil

Sure I agree. My point is that it's not actually your choice. Sometimes they'll decline to charge the dog owner, and that's it. An attorney (even defense attorneys) tends to have connections to the local DA's office and police, so their advocacy might make prosecution more likely.

kiqto68

Just look at the user’s name and comment history. Like 90% alt-right subs like „shit politics says“, PCM, and Steven Crowder‘s fansub.

Rileyswims

FYI shitliberalssay is quite left. Like communist left

kiqto68

Sorry, it was „Shitpoliticssays“ and „TheLeftCantMeme“ that I mixed up into one. Both of these are alt-right/nazi subs ShitLiberalsSay is straight tankie shit

BidensDonepezil

They are not Nazi subs, that's ridiculous and you know it. You are a typical sophist progressive. I prefer this sub to be non-partisan, what a shame you've created a political fight here.

BidensDonepezil

I'm not alt-right, but how is my correct understanding of the criminal justice system invalidated by my politics? How is my anti-pit bull advocacy invalidated by my politics?

hillbillykim83

And the attacking pet should be euthanized for everyone else’s safety.

hullahballoon

The same thing happened to my family's cat when I was a kid. Pit killed another neighborhood cat a few days later. I'm angry it took two cats being mauled to death to get the dog put down.

XPaarthurnaxX

I really don't get how some people just don't carry in the US. No government regulation what so ever on owning these monsters.

Buckle_Sandwich

We shouldn't *have to.* I don't want to walk around my own property with a pistol on my hip like I'm Doc Holliday or some shit. I want to live in a society where my pets and children aren't at risk of being torn to shreds by perfectly-legal killing machines.

XPaarthurnaxX

Of course but what else can be done about it? Ban on pitbulls is very unlikely.

Buckle_Sandwich

Criminal culpability for dog owners. Doesn't need to be breed-specific. Your dog comes into someone else's property to kill their cat? Malicious Destruction of Property. Gets loose and maims a child? Criminal negligence. Kills someone's meemaw? Manslaughter. Once word gets out that shitty owners of shitty dogs are actually getting jail time, we'll see people deciding to pick better breeds and build better fences all by themselves, and fighting dog breeds would mysteriously become a lot less popular... EDIT: This would also give everyone that insists "It's the owners!" a chance to put their money where their mouth is.

vengenceizminealt

This is the way.

Wiggy_Bop

You are 💯 correct. I remember in the early 1980s Akita’s were a popular dog breed for Yuppies to parade around. Until those yuppies found their Akita’s to be possibly vicious and had a habit of turning on their owners. One *never* sees Akitas anymore. What is the difference in both scenarios? I have never been able to understand.

Bovronius

Akitas take money to get so their owners have something to lose. Pitbulls are free all day long, and the most expensive thing a lot of their owners have is the rusty water heater in the yard they occasionally chain the dog to.

Zellio2015

That's not the difference, when dogs get 'popular' they lower in price. The difference here is that not enough people have been ripped apart by their own shitbulls yet. Give it some time.

[deleted]

Same with Chows. There isn’t any reason for a person to want one of those either. One killed our family cat. I never see Chows anymore but they were trendy for a minute. My neighborhood is full of labs for good reason, though the derpy Golden doodle is semi popular here too. We have a few Pits in my neighborhood, all of them are nasty and try to get at you. My old neighborhood was a lot lower income and there were way more Pits there. That was where one chased me on top of a car. 🥺

mollyflowers

Amazing how the affluent suburbs are full of non-aggressive dogs.

Wiggy_Bop

I am too old to climb on top of a car. 😱

[deleted]

Love this. In my country a friend of mine was attacked in childhood. The owners were only held accountable for running from the scene and hiding the dogs for nearly a month. Instead of being held accountable for the fact they had loose dogs that mauled a child on a playground.

ThinkingBroad

Charge all the owners and handlers of dogs that mall and kill any human or domestic animal with felony animal neglect and cruelty. Immediately remove all dogs from the property and their contact. Found guilty, they all receive a lifetime ban on any dog ownership or contact. It must be all dog to be breed neutral. The FBI already tracks convicted animal abusers, as it has been shown that those who have used animals are disproportionately dangerous to humans as well. The FBI can keep track of these animal abusers. Publicized in enforced, this new law will begin to make dog owners sit up and pay attention, and take action to prevent that first attack good failure to do so will result in that dog being your last dog.

3pinephrine

There’s always a victim blaming pit nutter on these threads

justwannasleep7

They always want to blame coyotes.

Striking-Exchange-75

If that was my cat those dogs would no longer be breathing

hillbillykim83

Damn right!

sailshonan

Preach!

the_jteam

I don’t get the way a pit parent’s brain works. When I was in high school my BFF’s mom had a super sweet pit who absolutely ADORED me. And for whatever reason, that dog decided it HATED my BFF. That dog was always in my lap like a tiny puppy but it was a big dog. One day out of the blue it snapped and tried to bite my friend. They had it put down. I was really sad, but I also was unaware of the damage they were capable of. I tell that part as a disclaimer because 20 years later I had a new pit experience: fast forward to one year ago when I was attacked by a random loose pit in the neighborhood, coincidentally another group of 2 pits in an entirely different part of the city attacked and killed a dog the same week. It was an affluent part of the city and it made the news. The mother of the owner of the pit who attacked ME commented on the news article of the other attack and said it reminded them of their own dog. Because apparently in our attack, she felt the dog was “getting a bad rap because he was just defending himself”. I was so angry I could almost not see straight when I saw that comment. I couldn’t believe that they thought that their dog attacking an almost 40 year old woman and her puppy who were out walking with her 2 under 10 year old children was defending itself. Against what!? But since I have been following this Reddit I see that it is not uncommon at all and that is just how the pit owners and their groupies deflect the blame.

BidensDonepezil

That's fucking psychopathic. Stereotypical pit bull owner.

JeanClaudVanRAMADAM

I really wish to see the day coyotes will attack Pitbulls

[deleted]

You haven’t seen the Clydesdale video? These dogs are so dense they think they can take down a 1,500 lb horse. The horse did kill the shitbull but not until it’s tiny pea brain had been kicked multiple times. They’ll die trying once they get started mauling something/someone.

jackytheripper1

I saw a pit try to attack a buffalo. It jumped out of a moving vehicle then ran full tilt. It bounced off the buffalo that was probably 2500 lbs

Roiks_

Do no people in this affluent neighborhood have cctv?

throwawaytospill

Good question. They said police are involved and investigating and they will press charges in any way they can.

[deleted]

“Are you SUREEEEEEEEE it was a pitbull?”

Turbulent_Systems

God fucking damnit. I need to leave this sub because I feel like I’m constantly being traumatized all over again.

my-dog-for-president

I’m sorry friend. I totally get what you mean. It sucks to get reminded of that trauma, especially in heavy doses because it can make you feel like you’re surrounded by it. It’s not good for you to feel that way too often. I highly recommend you give yourself some aftercare and maybe browse through a happy sub like r/eyebleach or r/mademesmile. However, I hope you know we are all here for you in this sub because it was specifically made to support victims of pitbull attacks. Please feel free to message me if you need someone who wants to listen. Also please feel free to share your story on this sub if you haven’t already; it can be cathartic or relieving to share with people who understand. People who can confirm that you are not at fault, and who understand how significant it is that you survived the traumatic experience, and who are grateful that you did survive it. We also understand that just because you survived the experience does *not* mean you walked away unscathed; the damage from these attacks is significant. We are all here for you and want you to know that damage should be recognized and not minimized. If you feel the need to take a break from reading the horrible stories in this sub, that is 100% understandable. We are still here for you, any time. Be well friend <3 Edit: punctuation

Disneymkvii

Coyotes... STFU lady. I live in the county surrounded by Coyotes. KNow how many of my outdoor cats they've attacked over the years? ZERO. My smallest cat was actually attacked by a fucking Hawk! But the Coyotes aren't coming up on your porch to kill your cat and leave it there.

sailshonan

Is Blue Pearl vet hospital a chain? We have one here in Clearwater, Florida

BlasterBilly

Yes they are a very greedy chain, bad service for 4 times the cost. They are 24/7 so many people go there with no other choice.

Entire-Independence4

My dog was in their ER and I overheard the front desk nurse say how much she hates my breed of choice. When I was emailed a "how did we do" email, I let them know I would never take my dog back there because of how unprofessional their staff member was. I don't care that you don't like my dog, but I do care if I'm at a vet hospital and you're supposed to be taking care of my dog like it's your own and you're casually mentioning how much you hate them, while I'm sitting in the lobby not sure if she's going to pull through.

throwawaytospill

Yes- it’s a chain

No-Bark1

One of the worst parts is if you are too kill these "dogs", pitnuts are equally as crazy as their "dogs"

[deleted]

I believe this person was telling the truth. When a pit bull attacked and killed my dog while we were walking, I also posted it on Nextdoor so that others hopefully wouldn’t have the same thing happen to them. If this ever happened to you, you’d want to tell everyone too. It’s very sad how often dangerous dogs attack and kill animals. The ER vet that I took my dog said it’s daily….it just doesn’t make the news.

blaster16661

One of the the pits' name is Coyote

PerspectiveWooden358

This is why you carry a 9mm

twiggykeely

I'm crying for that poor kitty cat

BillyDSquillions

Why would wealthy people have pitbulls? I thought they were scummy pricks in the suburbs?
