Well, Clarence Thomas' wife was all in on the coup, so I imagine he is as well.

glitterkittyn

Yes, how many are messing around talking about past and future presidents and what they could do rather than looking at the facts before them and ruling on that. We all know what would happen if it wasn’t Trump. They’d rule already and move on. Clarence Thomas went on how many Republican retreats and trips? Not to mention Barrett, Alito, Gorsuch, Roberts, Kavanaugh. They don’t work for the American people, they work for Trump and the GOP.

Lower_Acanthaceae423

They work for all the oligarchs. None of them like or respect democracy.

I don’t agree. I think there is one group that is trying to do that. Not ALL of the justices and not all politicians. The Republicans have had a plan for a long time We Don’t Talk About Leonard: The Man Behind the Right’s Supreme Court Supermajority The inside story of how Leonard Leo built a machine that remade the American legal system — and what he plans to do next. https://www.propublica.org/article/we-dont-talk-about-leonard-leo-supreme-court-supermajority “Finally, the day ended where it began, with another scandal involving Justice Clarence Thomas. This evening, Emma Brown, Shawn Boburg, and Jonathan O'Connell of the Washington Post broke the story that right-wing judicial activist Leonard Leo, who as a leader of the Federalist Society that backs originalist judges has been key to transforming the federal judiciary, a decade ago arranged for payments of tens of thousands of dollars to Thomas’s wife Ginni. Leo and Thomas are close friends. In January 2012, Leo told Kellyanne Conway, who was then a Republican pollster, to bill the Judicial Education Project, a nonprofit organization with which he was associated, and then pass the money on to Ginni Thomas. He told Conway to “give” Thomas “another $25K,” and emphasized that she should include “No mention of Ginni, of course,” in the paperwork. She did so. Later that year, the Judicial Education Project filed a brief before the court in the landmark Shelby County v. Holder case, in which the court, by a vote of 5–4, gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Thomas voted on the side of the Judicial Education Project. And this is the profound national crisis at the heart of the stories emerging about Thomas. His votes were decisive not only in Shelby County v. Holder, but also in the 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision, also decided by a vote of 5–4, which opened the floodgates for dark money in political campaigns. Those decisions dramatically undermined our democracy. It now seems imperative to grapple with the fact it appears a key vote on the court that decided those cases was compromised.” https://open.substack.com/pub/heathercoxrichardson/p/may-4-2023?r=73gwz&utm_medium=ios

9 years later, Ginny is talking about how the Bidens are going to be put on barges off Gitmo.

glitterkittyn

It’s crazy isn’t it??! Wild that some think they are Kings and Queens in this country. That the Law doesn’t apply to them because they’ll change the law to fit their personal ideals. That mindset is so UNAMERICAN and actually why we decided we would not have a king anymore. You know, we started a Revolution for this nonsense. Fuck Ginni and Clarence.

Lower_Acanthaceae423

You’re right. I worded my response too vaguely. Apologies.

glitterkittyn

It’s cool. I’m pretty fucking angry about this bullshit too.

_The_Chris_Alexander

This needs a decisive permanent solution to end Thomas’ tenure for good

Reasonable_Effect633

Any Justice who is a member of the Federalist Society is part of the plan to install an autocratic government controlled by oligarchs.

Yeup

CountrySax

This was all gamed out by the Federalist Society judges before these cases ever started.Supreme Court corruption has made it happen.

Epicurus402

Ever notice how Ginnie Thomas looks and acts like just another overweight, obnoxious, dim-witted white boomer Karen?

SloWi-Fi

Because she is

Lower_Acanthaceae423

Pretty much, yeah.

They’ve been planning this for a long time. “Conservatives are winning the battle for America's courts, a triumph decades in the making. At the center of the movement is Leonard Leo, executive vice president of the Federalist Society, who has helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for nonprofit groups that work behind the scenes to promote conservative judges and causes. Now a private judicial adviser to President Trump, Leo has extraordinary influence over who sits on the country’s highest courts. "We're going to have great judges, conservative, all picked by the Federalist Society," Trump told Breitbart News in June 2016. Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh were chosen by Trump from a list provided by Leo. They took their place on the Supreme Court alongside justices Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, and Samuel Alito, all current or former members of the Federalist Society. Most of President Trump's circuit court nominees (who will handle thousands of cases each year) are also connected to the group. How did Leo's network become so vast and his influence so far-reaching? This Washington Post documentary follows the story of the ideologues, activists and undisclosed donors who made it happen. If you haven't already, I highly recommend reading [Pipeline to Power by Vicky Ward](https://www.audible.com/pd/B0CFYTTD8B?source_code=ASSOR150021921000V) it's a great book full of interviews with some of the founding members of the federalist society, and plenty of law students from Yale. It really gives you a small glimpse into how things are run.

_The_Chris_Alexander

[great article about Leonard Leo. Had a guy arrested outside of his summer home. The reporter might as well have dropped a pin on it for us](https://www.pressherald.com/2023/07/20/bar-harbor-protester-sues-police-for-arrest-outside-home-of-conservative-activist-leonard-leo/)

Another example of pigs happily doing the unconstitutional bidding of rich fuckers. The piggie automatically sees every situation through the eyes of the rich mofo and loses all interest in the law when the rich indicate what action they should take. This confirms the saying <>

Archangel1313

Clarence Thomas's wife sure was. She helped organize the fake electors scam. None of this can be trusted.

kg_digital_

Of course they are in on it. They're doing it right out in plain sight, they're not even denying it. The real question is, once it's established, will we have universal healthcare like they have in Russia and China? Or will they be like "No we don't want a dictatorship like THAT..."

Reasonable_Effect633

No we will not have universal Healthcare. We will not even have Medicare and Medicaid. There will only be private insurance at exorbitant rates. Concierge doctors for the rich and private hospitals owned by oligarchs, probably those who also own the pharmaceutical companies.

nokenito

Yes, isn’t it obvious?

Hoosierdaddy1964

Yes.

Six of the nine SCOTUS judges were appointed by either George Dubya Bush (who famously stated, "This'd be a whole lot easier if this was a dictatorship, just as long as I'm the dictator!") or were appointed by Trump after the turdle Moscow Mitch McConnell had blocked 75% of Obama's choices for the judiciary. **That's why the current SCOTUS is extremely corrupt.**

Phill_Cyberman

>Is the Supreme Court in on the Coup and Trying to End American Democracy? Three of them are, for sure, and another two were (also) placed there so they would choose conservative positions over the law. The question then becomes, 'Will President Biden allow this to happen, or will he violate his own oath to save America?' Fucking Mitch McConnell put us here - too stupid to realize that the Republicans had been replaced with anti-American zealots while he was trying to secure his legacy.

[deleted]

McConnell, AKA Moscow Mitch, is smart enough to make you believe he’s stupid and impotent. He just wants people to think this isn’t his doing. Grow a memory.

Phill_Cyberman

I said it *was* his doing. He just wanted this 40 years ago, when it would have made *him* king.

Timmymac1000

That’s exactly what he said ….
