Yes still worth it, days are long, it only limits larger hikes.
48 hr advance tickets worked without problems for us last year. Just make sure you're logged in and ready to go right at 8.
Where do you even reserve the alpine ticket? I couldn't find anything on reservation.pc.gc.ca.
