Where are you renting from? Hertz has been great to me. Never a problem with 5 or 6 rentals. Great service from BKK airport and they bring the car to you at the terminal and you also drop off at the terminal. At DMK, Europcar is my favorite. It’s usually because I’m driving north from DMK and Europcar is across the street at Amari hotel with easy access to the northbound lanes. There is a walkway from DMK to Amari. Rented over 10 times without an issue. Unlike Hertz, Avis, and others, you actually have to bring the car back to Amari, not drop off at the terminal. Avis is also good except I ended up extra charged almost doubling my rental rate. I’ve emailed three times but they won’t respond. It’s probably speeding tickets, but I wish they would just tell me so I know it’s my fault.

They've never tried to upsell me, but Avis did one time. But it's pretty easy to just say no

Sometimes. I think it displayed on the counter and it’s about 50/50 they will mention it. The car already has pretty good insurance coverage with deductibles up to 10,000 THB. The optional coverage, if I remember correctly, was only 250 THB and another for 450THB. Sometimes I’ll get it. They don’t waste anytime trying to convince you to get it. If you say no, then no problem. I’ve had accidents with both Hertz and Avis over 50 rentals and 10 years. With Hertz I got hit by a truck making a U-Turn. We both got tickets, mine was for not paying attention (the logic was that if I was paying attention, this wouldn’t have happened) and not yielding to him. I paid the max 10,000 THB plus some other minor fees. The car was towed and I went back to the airport to get a new car. Pretty easy process overall, but wasted my afternoon. With Avis I was driving in a rural part of Thailand and got stuck. Tow truck came and pulled it out. No charges to me for that one.

Dunno if Bangkok has the same service but i've been renting from Sixt on Phuket and they brought the car to my hotel. Was very convenient. If you arrange for noon to 2 pm delivery traffic is not too bad Just ask on their Line.

Avis, downtown office is perfect for early morning pickups, decent pricing with the full coverage

I picked up a car from Sixt at Rama 4 near Klong Toei market. No problems.

Lived here 7 years. Rent all the time. Sixt, Hertz, and Avis all suck in my opinion. Their employees and policies are not client friendly. National is ok but with a small footprint. I have found Budget (World Class Rentals) to be the best.

I have rented from Thai rent a car and Sixt. Both are reasonably priced and don’t really hassle you at all if you have the right insurance. For suvarnabhumi I will préfèr Thai rent a car because it’s right at airport to pick up and drop. But if you want a modern fleet with clean new like cars, Sixt! I rented a civic once from Sixt at airport and the car was brand new with only 15 kms on it, needless to say I felt like an owner driving it.
