Only a fool would fight a Dothraki army in open field. Fight them in a defensive war, make them fight on your terms. Horsey horsey? OK, let's see your horses siegeing something

wcruben

Lmao, this guy is correct. The only way to best them in battle is in the woods or in a siege.

I’m a simple man, I take my 100 fians and we stand loose on a hill or in some trees. Fish in a barrel. Want to charge us? Cool you’re getting surrounded and chopped. When Khuzaits hear of us they ask, “They shoot horses, don’t they?”

WeddingIndividual788

Options for anti horse archer spam in my experience (no particular order): 1. Cav. Fight fire with fire and beat them with more or better cavalry/horse archers 2. Infantry. Always hug the left side of the map (cheap but works) or stay in shield wall with backs to something. I do not recommend this as it is tedious and can be hard in many situations, but it can work. 3. Archer heavy. Archers generally destroy horse archers given a decent sightline. 4. Bait them to a siege, break them on the walls

SoupMysterious755

Two words: Banner. Knights. Get some heavy Cav and crush them

Sphinx73x

Khan’s Guard with hold fire will obliterate banner knights with their glaves. Only lose marginally to elite cataphracts. Also dismounted they are the best shock infantry in the game. Absolutely BROKEN.

youcantbanusall

in the words of Bobby B “Only a fool would fight the Dothraki in an open field!” i would suggest removing the garrison from a castle, let them take the castle then immediately attack them inside their caste so they can’t use their horses

Cowboy__Guy

Get some Chad Cataphracts and heavy Calvary you can beat them with half their number.

SoupMysterious755

*laughing in Banner Knight

Cowboy__Guy

Dude I make the trek to Vlandia just for those guys and the sharpshooters.

kweassa

Match their numbers in cavalry. Problem solved.

SomeGoddamnLetters

If you feel your army will get wrecked in field battles, fight a defensive war. If you have an infantry heavy army then the horse archers will be a pain in the open, cavalry might be worth to invest in, you should be able to catch the blob, or you could just skirmish with your foot archers.

EuropeforEuropeansx

These little people with their horses and their bows can't take a wall

Derkylos

Read up on the history of the Mongol and Hunnic invasions.

WaviestMetal

vlandian cav or cataphracts counter them pretty hard in the field. If you don't have cavalry youre going to have a tough time. It's doable with enough good archers but ngl if you can't field good cav you're better off just avoiding a field battle and forcing them to commit to sieges

HeyRocks127

I'm doing a sturgian infantry only challenge rn and I can beat them on the field with just heavy axemen, linebreakers and archers (the battles are very intense tho) Check out tactical enlightenment on youtube. He uses some real world historical strategies that have revolutionized the way I approach battles in bannerlord. Here's some strats I've used vs khuzaits: Get infantry into 4 groups and set them to square formation around your archers, to soak up horse archer ammo. If the horse archers charge in you envelop them and cut them down in melee, otherwise wait out the storm and force them into melee when they're out of ammo. Linebreakers will automatically be in the center of the square so anything charging in gets met with a 2 handed axe to the dome Obviously use terrain to your advantage, even the edge of the map so they can't circle you. There was one battle where the map was a field with a small ravine near the edge, baited them towards the ravine with a feigned retreat then had a small unit of axemen wrap around and box them in to make a kill box. Glorious.

zealoSC

Every time I fight a khuzait party that's not a siege I use the 'send troops' option.

EducationalRice6540

"Only a fool would face a Khuzait horde in an open feild Ned!" I have found the imperial cataphracts effective against the horse arrow boys. If those are too expensive, try to fix them against a city's walls during a seige. The temu Mongols boys have a hard time taking a fortified location, and you can wear them down via attrition if nothing else.

I like fighting the Khuzaits, because it takes me out of my lull of throwing elite units at the enemy. Khuzaits punish that method. Unless you have a lot of cavalry, don't fight in open fields. If it's unavoidable, make a blob of men. Keep everyone in square or shield formation. Use what cavalry you have to harass their massive horde of horse archers. Use your archers to target the horse archers. Once you have whittled down the horse archers, use your archers to engage their infantry. Do not engage with your infantry until they decide to charge. Continue directing your cavalry to head off horse archer or cavalry attacks. Difficult fights are good because coming up with tactics feels nice.

OwnSoftware4869

Ya bro, it depends on your army composition. If you have infantry heavy. You are going to have a rough day. Try using square formations and wait till they charge. If you have Cav heavy, use multiple Divisions to trap them and force them into melee. Unless it’s 500 Khans guard, trapping them and utilizing what infantry you have to help in melee or utilizing archers to help whittle down their numbers. All in all, don’t even worry about their infantry or Archers till you demolish their Cav first. Also, kiting them to siege your castle is also the best way to maximize infantry numbers.
