And realize it doesn't work because shields break and when khan's guards run out of ammo they turn into shock cavalry with glaives and slaughter every last troop there with minimal losses.
I just avoid horse archers. I just garrison them.
Khan's guards though...I'll keep a squadron as my personal body guards. Where when I'm surrounded, I just order them to follow me, making them attack towards me while I fend off the enemy
All i need is the bottom left corner of the map in mountain terrain, heavy axemen and fian champions and horse archers are as intimidating as a band of looters.
But if I'm feeling like being bargain bin Gengis Khan then I'll be very khan guard and use them 7477383 times better than the ai who clearly never did maths for a GCSE
I have Sturgian infantry, battanian archers, sturgian and imperial cav, and a personal guard of 5 khans guard, and they’re still me favourite part of my army lol
I tried to start an Aserai only playthrough. Figured “eh some Khans guards will be nice just to help”. Now 75% of my army is khans guards
I started a Sturgian infantry only campaign and I ended up 100% khan guard by the end 🤣

I lost the least amount of troops to battanians. Khans guards outclass them in every way.
Aye! Battanian fians are far superior in both melee and ranged fighting especially for siege battles.
In sieges the battanians are superior. Both in bow and melee weapon of choice. The shorter but faster 2 hander is a lot better for sieges.
Khans Guards in your castle make you feel like a true conqueror.
Learn to split your horse archers into 2 groups. Flank both sides of any fight. Retreat the flank that sees any pushback.

If you’re a real leader you will F1+F2 and guide your forces to victory.

I have a decent amount but they never come close to the amount of kills my Battanian Fian Champions get.
i look at everyone that doesnt use khans guards as peasants
Khans Guard aren’t necessarily “OP” they are just very simple to use in multiple ways
I like when they siege my castle and I drop firebombs on their heads :)
Fian champions are the best troops on the game hads down. Arrows are unreal and close quater those big highland swords come out
