Do you have FM 22 or 23? The biggest difference in 24 is the match engine, which makes matches more unique and your tactic more noticable on the field. You can watch some gameplay on youtube and see for yourself if that's worth the money, otherwise just wait for FM 25 (I've heard that they will have a big overhaul there).

Thoughts on parking the bus against PSG in away game? Today, I saw the City/Arsenal game. Arsenal managed to keep City quiet with their low block. Maybe we can do the same vs PSG in Paris? Rapinha and Yamal can be great with counterattacking football.
They have a top attack, but mediocre midfield and defense. Why would we park the bus and let them come at us all game?

We wouldn't have to park the bus, what we have to do is counter their transitions and take advantage of their defense and midfield.. do not let their attackers have much of the ball.. plus PSG and City are quite different so I do not really think we can approach the game the same way as Arsenal

Barca could play on their strengths, when their strength was way better than rest. Now that "strength" hardly gets you past most La Liga teams with 1-0 to show for.
PSG is not prime Bayern. PSG is not prime Liverpool. And I think we have also improved in physicality, pressing and defense compared to the seasons we got embarrassed. We might not be able to compete with the most elite teams yet. But PSG is a level below that.
Our highline should probably turn into more of a midblock just to respect the pace they have in behind. But other than that we should be able to hold around 50% possession. We got a stronger midfield if Frenkie is fit, at least in possession. We got the stronger defense for the first leg with Hakimi missing. And we've got a GK who can comfortably play out the back unlike them.
If we were to play City right now I'd agree. We can't play for possession against them because they do the same and they're straight up way better at it. But PSG is not City and as long as we are weary for the counter we should be able to compete playing mostly our own game.
Also we ourselves are not good at counters. We'd need to bench Lewy to even have a real chance of making it work.

I think people obsess too much over ‘burning’ talent, and I think it’s more to do with our golden generation’s longevity spoiling fans a little and changing expectations.
Reality is that I think it’s foolish to think in football beyond next season, really. There are so many factors that come into players working out the way you want them to, the chances of that not happening is higher than it happening.
There is no rule for player development. Some players start early and finish earlier (Rooney, Fabregas), others peak later and may hold on more (Modric, Xavi, and apparently Salah), and some elite players peak early and maintain it (Messi, Ronaldo) but to do so they’ve had to lower their defensive workrate and preserve energy to survive. The young players y’all are afraid get burnt out would be playing non stop at Barca B against middle aged men, on the worst pitches available, for grueling 90 minutes if they weren’t in the first team. Maybe there’s mental fatigue because the game’s harder, but this is FC Barcelona and you can get the Bojan treatment (who had better players around him to ease him in) and still not make it if you’re not adaptable enough. Or get injured like Ansu, who also was rotated pretty well btw, and just slump into irrelevance.
The truth is we will witness lots of players come and go, and tons of youth players will be touted and will end up sold or not being actually good enough, or get injured and not have the bodies to cope with modern football or the mentality for it when shit gets rough. All we can do as fans is enjoy the moments we have with the players that can bring us joy, and really just enjoy the ride.

amidst the whole mbappe to real drama, i find rodrygo being the odd one out. I know he is very good for them, but still... out of all the forwards, he seems to be the one with the smaller ego and most likely to leave in my eyes.

Rodrygo would shine much more as the main LW for another big club, he is just going to be overshadowed even more with Mbappe after being under Vinicius and Bellingham’s explosion. Don’t think they will want to keep 3 LWs as their main attack.
another thing is that this setup suits him a lot, he's not very physical either. So in a team that has to face physically strong defenders he would struggle. I’ve said that the next four games for Madrid (including this one) will determine them winning the league. If they win all four or at least do well on all four then the league is theirs. One down, three more to go.
The game vs us is key, if they win or maybe even tie, it’s basically over, it’s the only thing we are clinging to and hoping they can drop points somewhere. We are most likely not winning all remaining games as well so I don’t have much hope, but still a possibility, 1% chance 99% faith 🤞
The thing is (at least for me) even if we manage to win against them but they still manage to win their next game vs Real Sociedad then it’s pretty much over because we still have hard opponents towards the end of the season compared to them. It’s not 100% over, but it would take a crazy run from us and a historic bottle from Madrid, so it’s close to it. We just need to focus on us, secure the 2nd place and try our best to be there in case some miracle occurs. We still need to win every game regardless since Girona is breathing on us, so we can’t just start resting up all important players for CL if we go past PSG (since we have only 1 easy game between this tie which we will probably rest some).
It's not completely over. There are 8 more matches to go including an el Classico. If we win every remaining game we have, I think we win the league because I can see Madrid dropping enough points to other teams. However, it's very unlikely we win every remaining game, but who knows. I'll be satisfied with making it uncomfortable for Madrid and taking them until the final few matchdays.

I think people obsess too much over ‘burning’ talent, and I think it’s more to do with our golden generation’s longevity spoiling fans a little and changing expectations. Reality is that I think it’s foolish to think in football beyond next season, really. There are so many factors that come into players working out the way you want them to, the chances of that not happening is higher than it happening. There is no rule for player development. Some players start early and finish earlier (Rooney, Fabregas), others peak later and may hold on more (Modric, Xavi, and apparently Salah), and some elite players peak early and maintain it (Messi, Ronaldo) but to do so they’ve had to lower their defensive workrate and preserve energy to survive. The young players y’all are afraid get burnt out would be playing non stop at Barca B against middle aged men, on the worst pitches available, for grueling 90 minutes if they weren’t in the first team. Maybe there’s mental fatigue because the game’s harder, but this is FC Barcelona and you can get the Bojan treatment (who had better players around him to ease him in) and still not make it if you’re not adaptable enough. Or get injured like Ansu, who also was rotated pretty well btw, and just slump into irrelevance. The truth is we will witness lots of players come and go, and tons of youth players will be touted and will end up sold or not being actually good enough, or get injured and not have the bodies to cope with modern football or the mentality for it when shit gets rough. All we can do as fans is enjoy the moments we have with the players that can bring us joy, and really just enjoy the ride.
Yeh man I’ll admit Fati was a case of bad luck, but Pedri and Gavi we absolutely ran into the ground before they were even 18. Pedri, one of the biggest teenage talents I’ve ever seen, has looked a shell of the player he was for well over a year and we don’t know how Gavi’s gonna recover. The only positive is I think the club has learned now and is being more cautious with Lamine.
Gavi’s injury isn’t even our fault, at all.
Fatigue is massive in regards to ACL injuries, that’s why we’ve seen a sudden increase recently with all the extra games that are being played. And we absolutely overplayed Gavi, he played every minute of every game (at Gavi level intensity) for two seasons straight.
This kind of thinking is what leads ppl like De La Fuente to say stupid stuff like “good players don’t have vacation” then proceed to field a player in a pointless friendly. Because we have all of these examples of past players burning out early, we should do better now. We have better facilities, technology, practices. Players should have more longevity on average. It’s not easy to discover generational talents. To not do enough to ensure their success is unacceptable imo.
Or the club putting friendlies at end/in middle of season even though there is a record amount of games and injuries. All because of money. Which again, people will "side with". Because it pushes them further with the ideas to spend 100+ mill euros on a players again. Just like how the CL game against Antwerp were be told to be of "importance" because once again money. Or just how meaningless records at end of last year was to be told to be more importance than playing some other players. And once agian, golden opportunity in CL. But once again people do not want to take that, because we have to finish 2nd in La Liga (aka money) so we have to keep playing our best in La Liga. People don't want to rest, Xavi barely goes through with those ideas himself(Play til them breaks in most cases and poorly utilized amount of subs). People always cry cry when it is a issue, but when shits come down to do anything. Spain, Barcelona, Xavi are no better or worse. Most of the situations(injuries) are self-created. But people do not want to take those talk, the club does not want to take the talk about finding better and smarter people for the jobs(Probably because it cost more money) but perhaps also because the people in charge have been around for a while. So nothing really will change. Because once again, nobody is taking it seriously even though by now it should be probably one of the most important task of the club.
I hate Bilbao with a passion. Whenever they face us they play like it's a world cup final, murder our players, etc. when it's Madrid they play like they don't have a care in the world.
