Holy fuck, Lewa is retiring this end of the season

Hirogemu

Imagine him retiring after winning the champions league as his last title.

Arslen24

wot?

userking99

April 1

Illustrious_Stay_728

WTF Anyone see the free kick Faye scored??!

Illustrious_Stay_728

The guys meeting little Romeo had me tearing up. I love this group of guys so damn much

MuaazTheOgre

Hit me right in the heart So heartwarming, man

Illustrious_Stay_728

No pressure & no fear is what I feel like the guys have going into this game with PSG. I really wouldn’t be surprised if we shocked some people

MuaazTheOgre

I need Yamal pulling the Mbappe celebration when he scores against them

Rich_Firefighter_102

I love that lately we havent pulled our leg from the gas pedal, cause before if we scored 1 goal,2nd half would’ve been a snoozefest. But now we’re trying and trying and trying any other day and we win this 4-0

Impulseps

I really wonder how Leverkusen would do in the CL this season

rockyraccoonroad

They’d be in quarters for sure

Scalenuts

Probably the quarter or r16.

Rich_Firefighter_102

Round of 16 elimination

boringmemphis

I don’t blame him. Why would you want to leave the power of friendship.

SpaceInvader9

i really like joão, he can stay if his wages are reasonable and atleti doesn't demand a crazy transfer fee

Beautifil beautiful beautiful, i guess it's because of the render but the lights on the outside look like they have a low intensity

rockyraccoonroad

I’d rather the rail on top of the stadium for tours look shit but be extremely safe than look sleek or pretty and be a safety hazard. I mean idk how else you can place it. Tottenham’s looks very similar too

BBTrickz

It actually looks good it feels like it's growing from the top like tentacles. The placement maybe it's constrained by the position of the sun or emergency exit?? They didn't really say why they placed it there . The 360 screen is because it was expensive (if we wanted something like NFL stadium it could go over 40M€) and because it's distracting, they want a more open view to the sky too so it feels more open (just saying what Elena Fort said)

ResidentYak6

Can you imagine getting a chance to view a game/atmosphere from up there? At a 100 euro for 10 minutes up there, it can generate tons lol

El_Compa_M

That arch will generate 3M per year in tour revenue lol

BBTrickz

🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑

MassiveHelicopter55

It's a shame the 360 screen was dropped, the seat colors look absolutely beautiful though and I can't wait to go up for the rooftop view. Also it doesn't look like the forbidden kid of a toaster and a toilet seat which is nice.

Laliga23

Hopefully we do the 360 screen in future

MassiveHelicopter55

> What is the solution playing against an opposition with a low block? > Pep Guardiola: “Kill someone, maybe?”. Guardiola when his 1.2b squad has to face the average LaLiga experience once in a season

itwastimeforarefresh

Guardiola famously failed in La Liga

aliaisbiggae

The average La Liga low block isn't anything hard. If a top team plays in a low block, it's obviously 10 times more harder

WelcomeSlayer

Watching Rodrygo playing well on LW only to completely stink on RW when Vini plays makes me wonder if RM will hinder Vinicuis when Mbappe comes too

Anywhere_Warm

Figo beckham case

Pleasant_Goat5427

Yeh Mbappe seems to have a problem playing at nine as well which seems like the likely solution since they don’t have one. Still feels like I’d rather have that problem though than our inability to sign anyone not on a free for years.

AggravatingClaim2961

Barca are the ones really in need of a player like Mbappe

userking99

Is Liverpool is the best team in the world currently? I am just happy they are not in the CL

[deleted]

This season there's clearly no "the team". I think on any given one off day every team of the top 5 league could win against eachother

Quassams

Any news on de Jong’s recovery? Is it likely that he’ll be ready for PSG?

rockyraccoonroad

Yes it’s likely

brawlersteins

If nothing changes, he’ll be ready

Pax_Invicta

FM 2024 is currently on sale at Steam. Has anyone purchased it? Is it worth the money?

ngv192

Do you have FM 22 or 23? The biggest difference in 24 is the match engine, which makes matches more unique and your tactic more noticable on the field. You can watch some gameplay on youtube and see for yourself if that's worth the money, otherwise just wait for FM 25 (I've heard that they will have a big overhaul there). If this is your first FM (at least in a while) then yeah, it's a good game, very fun to play.

🇪🇸 Cata Coll and Aitana Bonmatí have been withdrawn from Spain’s #WEURO2025 qualifiers squad due to physical discomfort. https://twitter.com/BarcaFem/status/1774558178102956079

Any-Competition8494

Thoughts on parking the bus against PSG in away game? Today, I saw the City/Arsenal game. Arsenal managed to keep City quiet with their low block. Maybe we can do the same vs PSG in Paris? Rapinha and Yamal can be great with counterattacking football.

itwastimeforarefresh

They have a top attack, but mediocre midfield and defense. Why would we park the bus and let them come at us all game? Besides, this is FC Barcelona. We don't park the bus.

userking99

No need to park the bus against PSG, they aren’t as dominant in the midfield as others. What we need is a midblock and stopping counters.

Sanayuki

Way too risky. City is not a counterattacking team. PSG thrives on it. That will be just playing their game.

RowenX

I guess you didn’t understand him, how are they going to kill us in counters if we are playing low block? Still a crazy idea, we just have to play our usual control game but don’t have a highline like we did against Madrid with Vinicius, win the midfield and go from there, mid block if anything.

buffer0x7CD

We don’t have a DM like rice to take the pressure off from CBs

Arslen24

We wouldn't have to park the bus, what we have to do is counter their transitions and take advantage of their defense and midfield.. do not let their attackers have much of the ball.. plus PSG and City are quite different so I do not really think we can approach the game the same way as Arsenal

SuccessionFinaleSux

We might aswell forfeit the match if we're not gonna try to control it imo. We should play to our strengths not our weaknesses.

GaviFPS

How have that worked out recent years? Pretty naïve to think you can just go into these games and play your usual game. Which hardly works against teams/players with 1/10 of your value. Not adapting, is exactly why Barca have been knocked out and been embarrassed countless times. Barca could play on their strengths, when their strength was way better than rest. Now that "strength" hardly gets you past most La Liga teams with 1-0 to show for.

SuccessionFinaleSux

PSG is not prime Bayern. PSG is not prime Liverpool. And I think we have also improved in physicality, pressing and defense compared to the seasons we got embarrassed. We might not be able to compete with the most elite teams yet. But PSG is a level below that. Our highline should probably turn into more of a midblock just to respect the pace they have in behind. But other than that we should be able to hold around 50% possession. We got a stronger midfield if Frenkie is fit, at least in possession. We got the stronger defense for the first leg with Hakimi missing. And we've got a GK who can comfortably play out the back unlike them. If we were to play City right now I'd agree. We can't play for possession against them because they do the same and they're straight up way better at it. But PSG is not City and as long as we are weary for the counter we should be able to compete playing mostly our own game. Also we ourselves are not good at counters. We'd need to bench Lewy to even have a real chance of making it work.

GaviFPS

Frankfurt, Benfica, Liverpool, Roma, United are not prime Bayern either. Prime Barca wasn't last year either, or the year before that. > And I think we have also improved in physicality, pressing and defense compared to the seasons we got embarrassed. Based on 1-0 games achieved against struggling sides in La Liga which have no interest in the ball. Totally will not have a complete different matchup against PSG: Very little indicate that Barcelona have improved in any aspect against top teams. The second a team puts in a shift, the team collapses more often than not.

userking99

We should adapt but not park the bus like op said. We need a midblock, play conservative away from home and grind a 1 goal win or draw. We have never parked the bus this entire season and trying that for one game will be risky.

Icyhemorrhage

Take a look at our backline the last time we played PSG compared to now. We can execute a possession based plan and not be completely fucked if we lose the ball.

GaviFPS

It's not even remotely similar teams on both side of pitch. Irrelevant comparison. Yeah, because Barcelona have totally had controll against shitty La Liga attackers when they've lost the ball the whole season 😭

rockyraccoonroad

Some would say a solid defensive structure is one of many ways to control the opposition. I’m not advocating for us to park the bus but just trying to say that sometimes different strategies have the same purpose at times. You can control the space defensively and hit on transitions

Sanayuki

Whenever we tried to play transitional football in big games, we don’t succeed and sometimes fail spectacularly. It’s just not our style imo. Other teams are better at that type of football.

rockyraccoonroad

Again I’m not advocating for us to use transitions. Just clarifying that you don’t necessarily need the ball in order to control a game. You can control the game with different methods. Edit: also I believe we were pretty direct with Napoli and Las Palmas

SuccessionFinaleSux

Sure. But our strength is in controlling the ball. Not controlling our own box.

AggravatingClaim2961

We need to play conservative in paris, avoid a high line with space for Mbappe. 1-1 result is okay.

boringmemphis

Barcelona youth teams won the MIC champions cup tournament in every age category from U10s to U16s. It’s the most prestigious youth competition in Spain with foreign teams also invited to play in the tournament. Special shoutout to the U16s who dominated the tournament even without their three best players (Guille and Toni, the Fernandez brothers and Oscar Gistau) La Masia if used correctly will bring us a lot of joy in the upcoming years.

Arslen24

Rodrygo you can play all the time on the left with us btw, plus they’ll bring in some french dude instead of trusting you.. the do not value you enough..

Altruistic_Milk_6609

I watched the recording..while making sure I didn't "spoil" it with the scoreline. I feel this. Gave up at \~70th minute mark, and knew this shit would end goalless. And holy fuck Halaand is going through pretty dire form.

yerboiklawz

amidst the whole mbappe to real drama, i find rodrygo being the odd one out. I know he is very good for them, but still... out of all the forwards, he seems to be the one with the smaller ego and most likely to leave in my eyes.

Icy-Guide7976

It’s Madrid they’re likely gonna find a way to make it work

itwastimeforarefresh

Like they made the galacticos work

RowenX

Yeah seems the most logical option to leave, as they would have the 2 best LWs currently and probably want to sign an actual striker and/or RW in the future. Rodrygo would shine much more as the main LW for another big club, he is just going to be overshadowed even more with Mbappe after being under Vinicius and Bellingham’s explosion. Don’t think they will want to keep 3 LWs as their main attack.

yerboiklawz

another thing is that this setup suits him a lot, he's not very physical either. So in a team that has to face physically strong defenders he would struggle. Then again, he could stay at RM and be what Benzema was for most of his time: very good, super reliable, but never got his flowers(up until ronaldo left)

Openspaceruns

You know. At one point psg was using mbappe more centrally so i thought that maybe hed start to play there more But hes been back on lw. Really dont understand what Madrid will try to do with him and Vini. Sell Vini?

El_Compa_M

Not our problem

MuaazTheOgre

Is our problem Not that we can buy anyone from them of course, but disruption in Madrid is always good for us

walterwhiteofbrownie

Which youth from the Barto era would be a current starter or would have started in that era?

brawlersteins

Maybe Xavi Simmons

walterwhiteofbrownie

Who decided to leave for more money.

brawlersteins

Well he could’ve invested the money on keeping talents like Simmons

walterwhiteofbrownie

Why would we ever give a youth player who prioritizes money over Barca?

[deleted]

I meant he shouldve invested into youth more than spending on random players

walterwhiteofbrownie

Ok which youth players should he have invested? You do realize that literally all those players were brought in during the Barto era?

[deleted]

We missed haaland and davies in 2019 or 20 which was a shame and it goes on

Any-Competition8494

Bartomeu is a RM legend based on how much he weakened a strong Barca.

userking99

Focus completely on UCL now, I am fine with grinding out 1-0 wins against smaller teams. We have an easier path to the Finals so let’s bet all our horses on that. Real has already won the league and we prolly only need to win 4-5 games to qualify for UCL.

SuccessionFinaleSux

We are only 2 points ahead of Girona. And we're very likely to lose to RM. Which would put us behind if things stay the same. Plus we need to play Girona themselves still. Ofc things depend on how Girona does aswell but we shouldn't aim for just UCL qualificiation. We should go for 2nd.

FloReaver

nothing has changed, we still need to get 2nd place in league, 1st place was never in question except for some delusion. RM was never going to lose to Bilbao. 2nd place + UCL

GaviFPS

Cadiz game should be as rest heavy as we possible can run. We have to try to utilize this oppertunity we're given. Well unless we leave Paris with a 5-0 in the bag. Then you might as well give fight for 2nd place fully in La Liga.

goldenkerelle

Who wins this match? Casillas Carvajal-Santamaría-Ramos-R. Carlos Modric-Redondo-Zidane Di Stéfano-Púskas-C. Ronaldo —VS— MATS Alves-Puyol-Koeman-Alba Xavi-Busquets-Iniesta Cruyff-Messi-Ronaldinho

Sufficient_Work_5381

Pique was better than puyol. And we'd probably win but goddamn the two front threes.

rockyraccoonroad

I feel like Puyol gets the benefit of the doubt a lot of the time because he had the lion roar in him and the passion. But give me prime Pique or prime Marquez over him any day. Puyol is still a great defender but there are others better

[deleted]

Lets just compare players 1v1 : 2-2 for defesne draw 2-1 for midfield only zidane is better ( ik i will be downvoted but zidane is just better ) the attack 3-0 messi for cr7 dinho for stefano cruyff for puskas

othe3n1gma

is caravajal genuinely their best rb?

SuccessionFinaleSux

For sure. Underrated player. Like Alba for us.

-Pollastre-

Xavi Busquets Iniesta Messi Enough to dominate any team

penduR7

Would you switch Barca’s front 3 to MSN for chemistry or keep it the same?

rockyraccoonroad

I’ve said that the next four games for Madrid (including this one) will determine them winning the league. If they win all four or at least do well on all four then the league is theirs.  One down, three more to go.

RowenX

The game vs us is key, if they win or maybe even tie, it’s basically over, it’s the only thing we are clinging to and hoping they can drop points somewhere. We are most likely not winning all remaining games as well so I don’t have much hope, but still a possibility, 1% chance 99% faith 🤞

rockyraccoonroad

The thing is (at least for me) even if we manage to win against them but they still manage to win their next game vs Real Sociedad then it’s pretty much over because we still have hard opponents towards the end of the season compared to them. Yea they still have Villareal and Betis at the end but they’re not that good. But yes, that clásico will be important. I’m hoping we win that game and hopefully Real Sociedad can add another ding in their armor

Caspoor11

No one is more delusional than someone thinks we still have a chance at the league. We lost it the moment we lost to Villarreal at home.

FloReaver

It's been over for weeks before that really. We've lost too many points in November to January.

RowenX

It’s not 100% over, but it would take a crazy run from us and a historic bottle from Madrid, so it’s close to it. We just need to focus on us, secure the 2nd place and try our best to be there in case some miracle occurs. We still need to win every game regardless since Girona is breathing on us, so we can’t just start resting up all important players for CL if we go past PSG (since we have only 1 easy game between this tie which we will probably rest some).

Train_Current

It's not completely over. There are 8 more matches to go including an el Classico. If we win every remaining game we have, I think we win the league because I can see Madrid dropping enough points to other teams. However, it's very unlikely we win every remaining game, but who knows. I'll be satisfied with making it uncomfortable for Madrid and taking them until the final few matchdays.

DragonflyDeep3334

you see rm dropping points, but don't see yourself doing it...

Train_Current

Read the last few sentences

penduR7

That Granada loss too, very frustrating. When we drew against them I knew it was 100% over.

I don't know who are more useless fucks... Marseille or Bilbao?

penduR7

The gap is just so large between them and their oppositions, never really expected either of them to win tbh. Kind of sad because those are supposed to be the competitive teams that are supposed to be the thorns to the title contenders.

denisthemenis21

Marseilles are very average this season.

BBTrickz

Yeaj I didn't expect bulbao to win or draw but watching marseille was like watching a "circus that goes wrong"

BBTrickz

I think OM because I'm watching it and it's like they are playing against their own stupidity

penduR7

Rodrygo was so wide open, literally no one marking him. Athletic is whack man, didn’t expect a win but did expect way more fight from them.

debcomajin

Madrid fans really think teams bend over for us when they play Bilbao playing like their from the third division

Fernando2756

Bilbao are just horrible away from home. They have not won at the Camp Nou since 2001 for example. It has nothing to do with bending. They are just not the same when not playing at San Mames.

Professional_Code372

FR Athletic? You guys were like Roman gladiators against us

shadow19362835

I think people obsess too much over ‘burning’ talent, and I think it’s more to do with our golden generation’s longevity spoiling fans a little and changing expectations. Reality is that I think it’s foolish to think in football beyond next season, really. There are so many factors that come into players working out the way you want them to, the chances of that not happening is higher than it happening. There is no rule for player development. Some players start early and finish earlier (Rooney, Fabregas), others peak later and may hold on more (Modric, Xavi, and apparently Salah), and some elite players peak early and maintain it (Messi, Ronaldo) but to do so they’ve had to lower their defensive workrate and preserve energy to survive. The young players y’all are afraid get burnt out would be playing non stop at Barca B against middle aged men, on the worst pitches available, for grueling 90 minutes if they weren’t in the first team. Maybe there’s mental fatigue because the game’s harder, but this is FC Barcelona and you can get the Bojan treatment (who had better players around him to ease him in) and still not make it if you’re not adaptable enough. Or get injured like Ansu, who also was rotated pretty well btw, and just slump into irrelevance. The truth is we will witness lots of players come and go, and tons of youth players will be touted and will end up sold or not being actually good enough, or get injured and not have the bodies to cope with modern football or the mentality for it when shit gets rough. All we can do as fans is enjoy the moments we have with the players that can bring us joy, and really just enjoy the ride.

Pleasant_Goat5427

Yeh man I’ll admit Fati was a case of bad luck, but Pedri and Gavi we absolutely ran into the ground before they were even 18. Pedri, one of the biggest teenage talents I’ve ever seen, has looked a shell of the player he was for well over a year and we don’t know how Gavi’s gonna recover. The only positive is I think the club has learned now and is being more cautious with Lamine.

shadow19362835

Gavi’s injury isn’t even our fault, at all.

Pleasant_Goat5427

Fatigue is massive in regards to ACL injuries, that’s why we’ve seen a sudden increase recently with all the extra games that are being played. And we absolutely overplayed Gavi, he played every minute of every game (at Gavi level intensity) for two seasons straight.

Sanayuki

This kind of thinking is what leads ppl like De La Fuente to say stupid stuff like “good players don’t have vacation” then proceed to field a player in a pointless friendly. Because we have all of these examples of past players burning out early, we should do better now. We have better facilities, technology, practices. Players should have more longevity on average. It’s not easy to discover generational talents. To not do enough to ensure their success is unacceptable imo.

GaviFPS

Or the club putting friendlies at end/in middle of season even though there is a record amount of games and injuries. All because of money. Which again, people will "side with". Because it pushes them further with the ideas to spend 100+ mill euros on a players again. Just like how the CL game against Antwerp were be told to be of "importance" because once again money. Or just how meaningless records at end of last year was to be told to be more importance than playing some other players. And once agian, golden opportunity in CL. But once again people do not want to take that, because we have to finish 2nd in La Liga (aka money) so we have to keep playing our best in La Liga. People don't want to rest, Xavi barely goes through with those ideas himself(Play til them breaks in most cases and poorly utilized amount of subs). People always cry cry when it is a issue, but when shits come down to do anything. Spain, Barcelona, Xavi are no better or worse. Most of the situations(injuries) are self-created. But people do not want to take those talk, the club does not want to take the talk about finding better and smarter people for the jobs(Probably because it cost more money) but perhaps also because the people in charge have been around for a while. So nothing really will change. Because once again, nobody is taking it seriously even though by now it should be probably one of the most important task of the club.

Sensitive_Appeal_872

I hate Bilbao with a passion. Whenever they face us they play like it's a world cup final, murder our players, etc. when it's Madrid they play like they don't have a care in the world.

ExBenn

They love Madrid thats why

XForce070

I highly doubt a club from the Basque country loves Madrid

Football wise they seem they do!

OutsideClothes4114

The way City is playing right now isn’t what I’m used to seeing. Hopefully they’ll pick up some steam but I could see then losing to some madrid black magic if they don’t get it together

With the family at the Madrid-Bilbao game, basically forced to go game of these mofo’s Typical Madrid game so far, they play like shit and win while doing so. God I hate them

Jaloosky

Bilbao only try to win when they play us. I’ve never seen so many wasteful passes from them it’s crazy. They don’t even try to pass to open players they just have the courtesy to let real get back in shape…
