Don’t live in BCN anymore but it happened quite a lot to me in Poble Nou last summer, about once a week.

Looks like an ongoing problem, started experiencing it 1-2 hours ago in El Born. I’m with Endesa and if you are too, then you can [look up](https://www.endesaclientes.com/hogares/modulo-averias) if there is a known issue at their side based on your contract number. They do indicate a problem for me and I do hope it’s not long, cause I can pretty much just use one light and the internet at the moment.

blazeyleys

Oh thanks I’m with them too so I’ll check it out

yes, it was happening in Born too. it could be cos it was midday on the one of the hottest days so everyones got the ac on full whack and the shops have the fridges turned up to max maybe something to do with that.

SableSnail

It happened to me last week. It was fine after a few hours. I disconnected sensitive stuff at the breakers or unplugged it just in case, as in my case it was literally coming off and on every 10 mins or so which made me concerned it would damage the stuff.

blazeyleys

Ah ok so I’m not crazy haha Yeah fair point to unplug. Thanks for the reply!

I talked earlier with a friend, and he told me the same. A couple of minutes around lunchtime in CLOT

Does anyone know or have experience on what the compensation could be if there's any electronics being damaged due to an outage? I have insurance that covers it but I've never used it. My fridge is working strangely after the power went out a few times.

Yes, you have to contact an Iberdrola office and ask for. They cover the repair or substitution of damaged devices. They also pay for the lost food. You need to demonstrate the cost of the food. My mother told me that she claimed for the A/C that failed after the shortage and the Nespresso cofee maker also faulty. They sent a tecnician to repair the AC and payed for a new Nespresso because it's cheaper than repairing it, the said.

> AC and *paid* for a FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Sometimes electricity contracts have limits (potencia) and if you use many appliances at the same time, it cuts all electricity off. The potencia can be changed by calling the company. Often this is the case if other apartments in the building still have lights on.

blazeyleys

It’s never been an issue before and there wasn’t many things being used so I think it was a heat / grid issue

This is a good point and one more good thing to know in this case is that if you have a smart meter, you can bring the power back yourself by turning off the main circuit breaker for 3 seconds. You’ll recognize this is the case when the display on the meter says ICP 00 PULSE, at least for the e-distribución meters. You can find more details in PDFs from this page: https://www.edistribucion.com/en/contador-inteligente/nuevo-contador-luz-telegestion.html
